I had an old sketch that needed to be re-framed out of it's 1970's fugly frame. The girl that helped me was great, picking out frames that I had in mind... and selecting good matting. So far, so good....
Then we got to price.... they were having a "custom framing sale." I think I got a 30% discount. Had there not been a sale, I would have walked out at the "real cost"... and as it was, I wasn't really liking the sale price.... but she said it would only take 2 weeks (last time I went to Aaron Brothers, they took 3 weeks, and that was after I walked in and said it better be done by tomorrow, or I want a refund).
Well, it didn't take 2 weeks.... it took 3... and again, after some prodding. In fact, the last time I called, they said "oh yeah, we are working on it right now, we'll call you when it is done." They called back within 30 min, which leads me to think that it was basically finished, and they were waiting for me to call and pressure them.
The end result looks great, and I love how it looks on the wall.... but I hate that I have to wait so long, and call 3 times to get a final result.
Don't get me started on Framing. There is a deeply repressed rant inside me that is going to come out one of these days. Meanwhile, these guys do a pretty good job at a pretty reasonable price. The kicker is they are friendly and helpful. They even gave me some hardware to fix an old frame at no charge.
