I was walking around (a bit drunk / buzzed) after many tastings of wine and stumbled into Corner House Coffee. The only thing I ordered was a Mocha (which was pretty good), so I don't really have much to say about their food since I didn't partake in it. The place was very laid back, and relaxing.

As part of my continued desperate quest to find a decent espresso in the Santa Ynez Valley, this cafe came recommended by various local magazines, free weeklies, and guides. And I have no idea why. Because while it has a good ambiance in this former Western cow town (that was once home to the scary atrocities to young boys that happened at Neverland Ranch a few miles up the road), the espresso here is quite awful: over-extracted, ashy, overflowing in size. Peet's coffee dregged through a Conti machine.
I would give it one star if it didn't have a redeeming environment, but barely. One and a half stars would be more justice.
Locals recommend the coffee here, but that just shows how beaten down and desperate their standards are. You'll be better off getting the espresso at area Italian restaurants than at any coffeehouse in the area. -

My friend and I saw the big sign out front shouting "Wood-fired Pizzas" after tasting lots of delicious wines, a hot & crispy pizza sounded like just the thing. We walk into the coffee shop and feel a little confused--was the sign for something else? There is no pizza on the menu! This looks like a coffee shop!
We finally ask and the girl says "we don't have pizza today". We decide to take it in stride and just order one of the 2 panini they have on the menu. It took quite awhile for them to make it, but it was tasty. It was chicken, cheese, and tomato on a croissant. Whilst sitting there we heard several people walk in look confused and then ask for the pizza. Turned out they can't make it if it's raining since their oven is outside. :( too bad.
If you are in the area and looking for a comfortable coffee shop to hang out in, then try it. If you are looking for more substantial food option I'd probably just keep driving. -

Enjoy a beautiful morning sitting on the porch of the Corner House Coffee Shop with your dog while having a delicious coffee drink.
I have definitely become a regular since staying in Los Olivos. -

Pedaling through Los Olivos we found ourselves threatened by rain. So we set up camp and explored the few streets in town. I was excited to find the Corner House Coffee. Internet, Peet's Coffee, and Gelato. All great things for a traveler. We immediately opted for a scoop of gelato, which was great. Creamy and thick!
The next morning we went back for breakfast. Knowing that there was a huge hill looming in our future we ordered a bagel sandwich as well as pastries. The eggs on the sandwich were good but not plentiful enough. For the price, I expected the bagel to stuffing ratio of my sando to be a little more equal. As for the pastries, they tasted dry (maybe day olds being sold at full price?) and needed to be washed down by big gulps of my coffee.
My suggestion is to go in for a cup of coffee and a bowl of gelato. The atmosphere is pleasant and the wifi is free. -

Some people may be able to sustain themselves on wine along during the course of the day, I am not one of those people. A friend in our group suggested the Corner House Coffee for a quick bite. I am not a fan of coffee, but despite the name, they have some tasty options. I had a squash pizza from the outside wood fired stove. It was a little pricey, but I attribute it to the local market and would go back.

We were desperately and starvingly searching for breakfast when my friend (Laura L.) spotted this cute little cafe. Perfect!!
I had this amazing croissant sandwich w/ turkey, avocado and monterey jack cheese ... unbelievable! I think it was called the Corner or the Carver or whatever ... the coffee (vanilla nonfat, sugar-free latte) was absolutely delightful. She had an egg sandwich remarking how much she loved their wheat bagel and herbs/seasonings in the egg batter.
We were able to enjoy our breakfast on the sweet wrap-around deck and take in the peaceful wine country scenery ... complete with a little girl and her dad riding horses on the street right in front of us.Listed in: Caffeinated to the Nth Degree…

Was really looking forward to a great cup of joe, but got distracted by the ice cream. ;-)
Pumpkin ice cream was very good, but the clerk seemed unhappy to be working, and since the ice cream "cup" was $3+, I expected to get more than two tablespoons worth.
Never did try the coffee, was afraid I'd only get a thimblefull! LOL -

Adorable little spot serving Peet's coffee AND McConnell's ice cream which is hard to find and 100 times better than Hagen Daz of which I'm a huge fan!!!

Phenomenal little coffee house in a cottage right on a downtown corner of Los Olivos. I stumbled into town having no idea how magical this little corner of Santa Barbara wine country is. Spent the afternoon lounging on their deck with a good book and their eggnog soy latte. Starbucks can't make these non-dairy, and I've been craving one all season. That I was able to find one here, in a little cafe that serves a little town pretty much in the middle of nowhere shows that it's still the "real folk" that do it right, not the billion dollar mega chains. Go real folk!

Out of all the activities we did this past weekend (September, 2009), visiting the CHC had to be the highlight. The rustic feel of the place, the relaxed atmosphere, and the awesome Peet's coffee made this place a real gem of a find. We went twice in one day just because it was that good.
If you're ever in Solvang or Santa Barbara, stop by this little piece of heaven for a coffee and just relax for a while. It will do wonders for your stress level. -
