This review is for the rice noodle stand in the front!

I love breakfast and usually I head over to AA Plaza to get fried turnip pancakes (lo bak gu).  If you head there after 11AM they usually run out (that's when they start serving scallion pancakes) and I would get really upset.  That's when I remember that Corner 28 makes rice rolls, a staple of dim sum to order, thanks to my lovely former co-worker.

You can choose from different meats, I stick with shrimp (not dried shrimp which is also an option) which has always been my childhood favorite.  I love watching the lady putting the rice noodles with the meat in the mini oven and then scraping it and putting in the container.  Make sure you ask for scallions!  It changes the entire taste.  You can drizzle it with some soy sauce.  One order is really cheap and is good enough for breakfast!

Minus one star because the lady starting putting hair pins in her hair and then handling my food.

Overall the food is okay but ordering and paying is a pain.

You order your dishes, (some items are steamed to order so you may have to wait), and get a receipt.

You then swivel around and pay the cashier.  The cashier stamps your receipt.  You then go back to the original server to claim your food.  When it gets crowded, and it will be in the mornings or on weekends, it really is chaotic.

There are tables and chairs inside but the layout is so tight, you can barely squeeze in and out.

There are better places in Flushing where you don't have to put up with the aggravation.

Cheers!
N.

Big container of Duck Wings $2.50

$1 peking duck

Really great char siu- just make sure to ask for lean meat. At least that is what I enjoy.

It is crowded here yes, but just be polite to the ladies working here and you will get the same treatment back.

I like this place even though I hadn't had the chance to taste many of its offerings (outside of the duck window) yet.

When you walk past the peking duck window to enter the building, you pass a bunch of prepared foods that look pretty nice and fresh, and a drink stall before you get to a messy sitting area with jars of spicy sauce set out on the tables.

I got the impression that the upstairs is a full service restaurant, but down on the first floor reminded me a little of the Chinatown food court we used to have in Boston.  When I ordered a bubble milk tea for $2.50, they were out of bubbles, so they offered to substitute - I selected the mango pudding.  I was given a receipt and told to go pay at the cashier's, then returned for my yummy drink.

If you buy something you can borrow the key to the single bathroom.

Food is excellent, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. I love this place because their menu has large, colorful photos. It helps my American friends figure out what to order. Word of advice: Don't sit near the entrance. The staff stare at you while you eat. It was very uncomfortable! Take the booths at the end. You will have a great view of the main street.

This place was overflowing with people outside so I had to check it out to see what was all the fuss about.

WOW - FOOD GALORE!

I didn't get anything from the food line, although the crab dish did tempt me but I still didn't get anything from them.

I ended up walking further and voila, shaved ice and bubble tea stand appeared!

I love love love adzuki with condensed milk, though it's not really a hard thing to make, but I cannot seem to find a place in the city that will serve it to you in a BOWL.
Ten Ren serves it to you in a CUP...WTH, how can you have shaved ice in CUP FORM?  HELLOS!
You would have to eat all your toppings first sans ice.
Sunrise Mart - serves it to you in a cup and with adzuki in PASTE FORM, which totally is not pleasing to your eye.  Can you just imagine how adzuki paste looks on top of shaved ice?
GROSS!

Moving on, so this place actually serves it to you in a bowl and the adzuki didn't come from a tube and it's just perfect!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SHAVED ICE!

YAYERS!

The food upstairs wasn't that good. The char-siu was served as a appetizer which was tasty, and they had the tong's for 1$ which were good. The main dishes we order were the lamb chops, fried fish dish, and a couple of others. They were mainly disappointing, while the fish was alright.

I'll have to try downstairs it seems to be getting better reviews.

Corner 28 located just north of the LIRR Railroad track on Main Street has a special for 2 pieces of roast "peking" style duck for $1.00. When we first arrived, the lady there told us the sifu (master) of the peking duck roast has yet to arrive so come back later after 10AM. So we walked around and came back and there she was slicing the duck with the skills of a shaolin kung fu master, what deft knife skills. I wouldn't want to get into a street fight with this old lady.

The duck came wrapped in a tortilla like bread roll that was soft and fresh. Topped with some chinese barbeque sauce, the crispy duck bread rolls were delicious, and for $1.00 it was a really good deal!

In short: oh if only the food tasted as good as it looked.

We came into Corner 28 to dodge the incoming thunderstorm, and boy did it look we made the right choice when we were in Flushing. Their menu is nothing but an unorganized 20 pages of pictures of delicious looking food (perfect since you can just point even if you don't speak canto).

Starving, we ordered quickly and were then thoroughly disappointed by the quality of the food. Everything was kinda lukewarm, and nothing tasted all that great to us with the exception of their drinks. Yeah it was cheap, but I'd rather find something that actually made me happy to eat there.

This place is underrated on Yelp. The bubble tea was so good I has 2 of them, and it wasn't hot out. I got 2 barbecued meats to go - pork and duck. Usually I expect the pork to be OK and the duck great, but in this case there pork was great and the duck merely good. Also if you you around 9 am they have 1 array of dim sum.. 45 minutes later they bring out different dishes, mostly fish and veg. Worth more than one try.

Regarding the 2nd floor:

If you're lucky, you get free roast pork slices as an appetizer (I don't know if they always give it).

I recommend for dinner, the Teriyaki Chilean Sea Bass ($13), a great tasty deal. Don't expect the teriyaki sauce you know, though. This sauce is more like sweet and sour, as if they stole it from an Orange Chicken dish. Meat is tender and almost crabmeat-like in texture.

We also got dou miew (snow pea leaves), which are cooked to give a nice heavy garlic taste. It is $12, which is cheaper than some other restaurants. Portion size is pretty good.

We also got the basil and clam dish ($13), which tasted good, and was a good size.

Rice is $1 a bowl, which is relatively pricey. I mean... you could get a Peking Duck bun downstairs with that $!

Drinks are mostly $2.50, except for the real-fruit drinks, which are $3.50. Student discount: 10%. I remember they were OK, not amazing. I'd ditch those blue-looking "special" drinks. You know those that they name "lovely girl" or such. Milk just never looks OK with bright blue coloring in it. What is that?

Bottom line: Food is on the sweet side. They are also generous with sauces; few plates here come dry. Restaurant decor is great, even clean, considering it is Chinese and in Flushing. Go here for family-style dishes. Some people who are used to northern Chinese foods (spicy, salty, hot hot hot) bash this place because they're not used to HK styles. But I approve.

There is a massive buffet just inside the windows and doors, but you need not actually step foot indoors to sample some "Rice wrap" from one of the window vendors.

It's certainly not the most beautiful thing you will ever eat, but for $1.50, the pork rice wrap really can't beat. The rice in question actually makes sort of a crepe-like dough, similar to how it is used in Taiwanese cooking. A sticky goo is probably more accurate, but when the pork, an egg (extra $0.50), and sauces are all mixed in, the goo is delicious.

It all takes about three minutes from start to finish, and the best part is when they take it out of the little oven and scrap everything off into a styrofoam container. Unceremonious, yes, but the hustle and bustle of this corner on the main drag of Flushing is a great place to eat such a food.

Thank god I did not know about this place over the summer or I would have been here everyday after work! Went here yesterday for the first time and had the squid stick, $1!!!! The squid was fresh and the spicy sauce they dipped it in was great! They have a sauce that isn't spicy also. Verry busy and the duck they were cutting up in the window next to the food on a stick looked amazing. You can't beat this place, good food and great prices. I'll be stopping here again today before I go to work.

Corner 28 is a full service Chinese restaurant / cafe / market. They have a proper seating and take out section. They offer a wide selection of Chicken (Baked whole: Plain, slated, Dipped in Soy sauce; BBQ Wings), Pork (roasted or BBQ Grilled), Ducked, Curry Squid, and much more.

I bought a dozen BBQ wings, half a baked chicken, and 1.5lbs of roasted pork. The food average at best and is nothing extraordinary. In terms of value, I felt that it wasn't too bad. $4 for a dozen wings, $12 for 1.5 lbs of roasted pork, and $6 bucks for half a slated chicken. That's 22 bucks dinner that feeds four.

Tell you what..........This is an absolutely crazy crazy corner. Very busy, its always packed with people. Why because of the prices and the food is DELICIOUS...The take out in the 1st  floor as you go walk in blocks people trying to get in to the 2nd floor  restaurant where seating is available.

They have a BBQ selection of Roast suckling Pig, Roast Port, Barbecued Ribs. Roast duck, Honey Roast duck, Steamed, Soy Sauce, Salty Roast and Scallion Chicken....All kinds of Congee....All kinds of Noodle Soup & Japan Noodle (Ramen).  choice of Thin, Egg, Flat, Rice, Round Noodles.  The Assorted Seafood Noodle (Flat noodle)  is my favorite.  You can ask them to add some extra BokChoy too. A friend was raving about the steamed flounder......Ihave to try that next time I go there.

The service is sooooo bad, no matter stay or to go! The waitress are so rude, and there is no order for the waiting line. It's like a war when you try to place your order or pick up the order. I don't mind waiting for my food, but atleast I should be able to deserve a better treating from the waitress, right?

The food is soso comparing to other Chinese restaurants in Flushing. I don't see any special in Corner28, expecially the poor service. No, I am not going to Corner28 anymore.

This place was so bad, I just had to look it up on yelp to trash it.

At first glance, I cannot believe that this place has such high ratings on yelp.  After further scrutiny, I realize why people are ranking it the way they are.  Most people got the congee, roast pork, duck, or some other Chinese marinated meat that hangs by metal prongs in the front window.  If you ever have the misfortune of stepping foot within this establishment, you will HAVE to order those items.  Anything that requires cooking on the spot,  and you're bound for trouble.

My relatives and I came here after a brief discussion about whether or not to come here or Sweet N Tart, which was a few blocks away.  Needless to say, we ended up at the corner.  When my family gathers for dinner, we usually do it family style.  Here we were sifting through the menus filled with photos of scrumptious-looking dishes.  It looked promising.  But boy, were we wrong.

Here's what we ordered: roast pork, duck, chicken, dao miew(snow pea leaf tips), some seafood mix that contained squid, salt baked chicken, salted frog(hold the gag reflex folks; it tastes just like chicken)- this is all I can remember.
I had a tea with milk drink.

Individual reviews:
Roast pork: OK- I've had better; thinly sliced and a little dry
Duck: somewhat decent- at least the trip wasn't all for nothing
dao miew- watered down and texturally mush
unknown seafood mix: I say unknown bc it was so bad, I couldn't tell what I was eating.
salt baked chicken: overcooked
salted frog: meh
tea with milk: came in a giant mug, really sweet, and tasted like something I could make at home- nothing special

Guess what?  I was starving when I entered the restaurant, and I was starving when I left.  By the end of the meal, some plates still had food on it, and you know what I chose to eat?  White rice.  I chose plain carbs over their dishes of meat.  If I hadn't heard my aunts and uncles order, I would have never been able to distinguish between the chefs' cooking and a baby's.  Yes, I know babies don't cook- and these chefs don't cook anything you want to put in your mouth.

I have never had such terrible Chinese food until Corner 28.

Corner 28: Here, I'll throw you guys a bone- your 2nd floor chairs were comfortable.

*Seriously, can I get an exception here and give it ZERO stars?

This place is a real tossup between 4 and 5 stars.  The food was fantastic from the roast duck to the crispy chicken to the long life noodles but the crowd was insane here on a weekend afternoon.  The place looks nice and is super group friendly.  I came with some of my Chinese friends who claimed this was the Cantonese place to hit up.  It seems like they were right.

The food is unbelievably fresh and the portions are excellent.  I thought the service was a little rushed, but people tend to expect this stuff at big Asian restaurants.  I think I would come to Flushing all the time for more places like this.  Manhattan doesn't hold a candle to Flushing's extensive Asian eateries.

My goodness, this place is amazing for takeout. Although the line is ridiculous and it can be unclear where you're supposed to go (especially if you don't speak or read Chinese), the food is solid and the prices are very, very low. It is definitely worth pushing your way through for a cheap, filling, tasty meal. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in Queens.

Over priced basic chinese take-out served nicely on a plate with a gross manager, maybe you'll see him he has a HUGE LONG HAIR ON HIS WART. He has a foot long hair sticking out his chin wart and he has seated me twice, just seeing how unhygenic he is kills my appetite, they need people with better service and don't look like they'll leave their foot long hair in your food.

I had the salt friend chicken,  which was bad the stir fried rice is simply that, not bad but the food overall is nothing impressive, over priced and non hygenic. Go to OZ in Elmhusrt, they have better service, its fresher and cheaper.

I usually takeaway from Corner 28.  Their roast meat dishes with rice are the main attraction for me here.  Also good are the Peking duck sandwiches which you can order for $1 each.  They're good for a late afternoon snack.  I've also eaten in the upstairs dining room a number of times and found the har moon chow mai fun and sliced fish congee impressively good.  Service in the restaurant was accomodating whenever I sat down to eat.  Overall, Corner 28 has solid food at reasonable prices.

**** Edit: 2 hours after writing the review *****
We had String Beans and they were awesome, 5 STARS

******* Original Review ******************
4 Indians walk up to this place at 11:30pm on a cold night.
They walk up the stairs into a restaurant that looks like a Chinese Mafia eatery, well now Indian Mafia eatery.

We can choose any table, there were only two other tables occupied.

Menu and Hot tea are delivered within minutes.
Nice Hot Tea, not the cheapest tea but not the best either.

We order:
Pork -- http://www.yelp.com/bi...
1/2 Duck
Steak dish - Another of Karan S's favorite.
and Short Ribs.

So only meat and nothing else.  What do you expect from Four Punjabis who like Chinese Food.

Pork - 3 STARS
Duck - 4 STARS
Steak - 3 STARS
Short Ribs - 4 STARS

The vegetables that come along with Short Ribs and the Chinese Broccoli that comes with Steak are great with Rice.

$60 for the 4 of us and that includes a generous tip.

We left shortly after 1pm, we were the last to leave.  This is Monday night and that explains the low number of patrons.

-1 STAR is purely for the food quality and taste.  I feel the pork was a bit dry and steak dish was a bit rare for my taste.

The service was awesome,  dishes came one after another and that allowed us to clear the table just enough to make room for the new dishes.

Recommend: Yes, amazing to sit in such a nice place and watch the crowd below pass by.  great for sight seeing ;-)
Will I go back: Yes
Romantic: Yes, definitely.
Note: Did not use Hot Sauce of any kind, enjoyed the food as is.

I wish i could give this place 10 stars.  Pam n I happen to be strollin around Main St. contemplating going to out regular joint chao zhou

http://www.yelp.com/bi...

.anyways I happen to look up and see this place on the 2nd floor of a building right next to the BIG WAMU sign.

this place is definitely classy and a perfect place for a romantic date.
pam was very happy.

oh oh, I have to tell you about the menu,  going thru the big fat menu was as if you are going thru an Indian Wedding album , all the items on the menu were shown in large pictures either of 5x3 or 6x4 , some even 9x7 , yes and i  mean all 100 items . infact  what you see in the pics is what you get. so that was a fun experience.

the variety on the menu was good , i could experiment some frogs or geese, but I need Guri S. company for that.

we ordered a chinese rib eye steak with chinese broccoli, yum yum yum ( see pics)

also ordered smoked pork yum yum yum ( see pics)

for drinks pam had the Peach Splash which was  very yummy and refreshing

I ordered the Hawaiin blue which was awesome ( see pics)

the service was very good, they kept on changing our chinese tea , i guess to make sure it was always hot.

the restaurant had a very upscale look , although our bill was only $30.00, i tipped 20%. the portions were very good.

it just a flawless place.

I highly recommend it,  and the good thing is the staff  did not try to rush us out.

Yeeeey, my 200th (restaurant/bar) review on Yelp! And for my NYC Chinese New Year visit.

4-stars for being a warm, quiet-ish respite from the bitter cold Chinese New Year parade this February....Brrrr. And it's not 'cause I'm a wimpy Los Angeles dude fakin' the funk with a Spiewak parka. No, it was truly cold (come on it snowed on Sunday?!) Anyway, my point is on a normal day may be it wouldn't score *as* highly.

Downstairs is a self-serve take-out "rice and duck" kinda joint. But upstairs it's a different story -it's a veritable chi chi waiter service restaurant with lots of exotic prawn/seafood and a la carte dishes to order from...Jen W says they're wedding banquet dishes...she's kinda right, but no shark's fin soup :).

Linda, Naama and I ordered fried rice with pine nuts, prawn noodles, one of the many half chicken dishes and string beans. They accommodated "no meat" (or rather pork) for Naama. All that food - lots of leftovers for $50 incl tip.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. I usually buy the peking duck downstairs in the stall, but i ventured upstairs and saw a whole restaurant. Seems like they make mostly wedding food, food you would find at a chinese banquet, that seems to be the trend these days of restaurants in flushing. Its good food. I like the peking duck and shrimp with walnuts. Most of the dishes look pretty good.
It was quite clean inside, and you get a view of main street flushing with all the ppl walking by, ok maybe not something you want to see, but its nice to be able to eat in peace and not hear the bus.
Course for some reason loud high school kids like to go there which makes it very noisy at times. But over all the food is good.

At $4.95 for four entrees, rice, soup, and a cold bottle of water, I'm willing to forgive the abyssmal service and continue to go here any time I want a quick meal on the go.

I came at around noon on Friday, but be warned-this place is usually far too crowded, and you had better know exactly what the hell you want if you hope to survive.

Greeted with what was clearly boredom, tiredness, and probably confusion at the presence of a white gal, I asked the woman behind the counter to give me some baby bok choy, fried tofu, Chinese broccoli, and eggplant in garlic sauce as my four entrees. While the Chinese broccoli was long, stringy, and difficult to chew, the bok choy were tender and crunchy, the tofu soft, and the eggplant smooth and spicy. I wasn't a fan of the soup, but was happy to get a huge pillow of rice for my vegetables to recline in.
Next time I will upgrade to the meat dishes, though for shame, I'm not entirely sure what they are. Perhaps the fun of experimentation, and for such a low price, who cares?

I have been a loyal patron to Corner 28.

On the first level, they have the Peking Duck and Rice Noodle Roll at less than $2. It is cheap and delicious. The roast pork and roast meat is crispy and succulent. You must try them. However, we ordered two noodles - Wonton and Shrimp noodles and Spicy Beef Ramen and both tasted rather salty.

On the second floor, it is more of the upmarket restaurant. The food is as great! We had Grilled Lamb Chops with herbs and spices, fried rice with dried scallop, crispy beancurd. They are great!

I give it 4 stars for downstairs. I'm not so sure about upstairs. I went to the restaurant part once with my mom and the food wasn't very memorable.

Downstairs however, I frequent a lot. The food is cheap and looks cleaner than other Chinese places who have the whole entree and soup thing.

I used to order delivery and dine in all the time from corner 28.  The food is good and not "too" expensive.  The service there was "so so" before.  I don't really care since the food was good.  until last time we went for breakfast.  The hostess was extremely rude.  She was like "That's it?"  "That's it?" keep repeat the same sentence.  Why?  Didn't we order enough?  (like $30 for 3 people).    The "noodle in hell"(it's the name of the noodle soup) came out cold.   The pink lady drink was bad.  My congee wasn't bad.  The service is terrible.  Did i mention they don't take credit card unless u spend more than $30.

i came here for a late night dinner with my brother and his friend.  both downstairs and upstairs were pretty empty so, we were seated right away.  as soon as we sat down, they brought us tea and were given a small plate of barbeque pork gratis.  i'm not a huge fan of barbeque pork, but that might just have been the best i've ever had.  we also ordered 3 other dishes...

1.  crab soup:  not very flavorful.  there was some unidentifiable chewy/gelatinous/clear cubes we couldn't figure out.  when we asked the waiter, he told us it was fish "mok?"  i think he said mok, i couldn't understand what he was saying.  when asked to repeat, he kinda seemed like he was getting frustrated, so i didn't push it any further.

2.  shrimp with mayonnaise and candied walnuts.  i know this sounds really gross, but it's actually not bad.  it wasn't as good as genroku in richardson, texas though.

3.  clams with basil.  this was probably my favorite out of the three.  the sauce was a fernented black bean based sauce which was really flavorful and the basil made it smell heavenly.  i could have just eaten the sauce with some rice...it's that good

overall, i think it was just average.  i usually try to give it a second chance before finalizing my opinion.  next time, i think i'll try reading the food boards to see what's good there.  forgot to add that the menu has pictures, so it's very user-friendly to all non-chinese readers/speakers.

Location, location, location. When doing business, location is one of the utmost important consideration. Without traffic, your food/service better be darn good to attract customers to actually 'walk' to your front door.  I know a few small shops that do really well because apparently, they produce great food, but for Corner 28, which is one of the most popular restaurants in Flushing, its location is really the main attraction.  Food-wise, it's decent. Not horrible, but not heaven-calling.  The lunch box served on the first floor is a steal - $4.50 for a starch, 3 sides, soup, a bottle of water, and a piece of fruit. A completely nutritious meal if you minus the MSG. The upstair (which is the only place I've tried) is for sit-in only. The service is so-so. Not great, but at least the menu has a wide selection. The food quality fluctuates - sometimes my veggies would come out nice and green, but today, it was really pale and not fresh at all. And the rice...oh, it's got a bitter taste to it.  It's hot, but tasted off.  I'd really return to Corner 28 because it serves my favorite veggie dish, the seatings are comfortable and I get my pot of hot tea. But for better quality, there are too many choices in Flushing to choose from.

There's a saying among Flushing people that you cannot find good food on Main Street.... Wellz, this is perhaps an exception...

Once you walk up the stairs, what you'll see is a nice and clean and comfortable restaurant right in front of you~! And if you care, here comes the "nice" Main Street view as well !.... The menu is definitely the most colorful one you've ever seen. Seriously, there's a picture for each and every dish! And of course, it'll take you a little time to flip through the menu (pictures) just to pick what to order...

Actually, the food quality is pretty good, if not one of the best in Flushing... but it is a little pricy... for 2 person.... it can cost you anywhere from $30 to up to $70 when you leave.... so it's always a good idea to look at the price as well aside from the beautiful pictures~~

Overall, 4 stars for me

Stick to the stalls outside.  $0.75 for delicious peking duck and these awesome rice crepes (I get the shrimp one) for $2.25.  Then, take your food inside and eat at the tables.  Amazing meal for $3.
