I went here at the start of the summer to use a Groupon they issued which was about to expire.

The Groupon included wine and cheese for two, two glasses and a $10 credit (which was a really good deal BTW).

The cheese and cracker tray was nothing impressive, but I am not expecting top shelf cheese on a groupon. It was enough to pair nicely with the wines.

Most of the wines were good, not great, but pretty good. I did really like this special apple wine they had their. I like it when a winery takes a chance and produces something which makes them a little different than anything I can buy in a store. I bought a bottle and enjoyed it with dinner that nice.

The atmosphere was also very nice. The crew was helpful and cheery, but didn't give me the 'buy something or get out' feeling I often get at some of the NOVA wineries. (Even though I was using a groupon). I'm looking forward to going back in the fall to see if they have anything new!

Skip this one.  The wine tasting house looked run down and the floor is not level--you'll find your self standing at an angle and it won't be because you've had too much wine.  Their wine--don't try the sangria, I took one sip and poured it out. The rest of their wines were slightly better than their sangria.

They do have a great brewery though, so go their instead. When we went they also had a great local barbecue outside so the trip wasn't a total waste.  They also have a cupcake and wine tasting, which is a cute idea but you need good wine and good cupcakes first.

Very small and crowded with malfunctioning air conditioning (the one window unit we saw was blowing out HOT air, not cold). Tastings are $7 for white OR red, $12 for both, which I found a bit overpriced compared to some of the other wineries in the area.

Their whites are very sweet, which might be just your thing! Not mine, though. Some of the reds were decent, and the port was interesting. We didn't try the brewery (we were so hot and uncomfortable that we just wanted to get away).

I loved the farm like setting of Corcoran Vineyards with the outdoor tables sitting along a lake.  There's a nice big tree that provides some good shade where you can take a break from the heat as you enjoy your wine or snacks.  We arrived at Corcoran early, but seeing as this was the final day of their Groupon offering, the tiny little tasting room was packed to the rafters.

We ended up waiting over an hour for our tasting but the kind staff offered up some homemade white sangria to hold us over.  The Sangria wasn't really sangria and had the taste of bad fermented fruit which made it completely unappealing.  Despite the bad sangria, the staff was apologetic and reassured their waiting customers that they were not forgotten.

Our turn to the table finally came and we popped up to the bar to enjoy the wine.  Again the staff was very kind and helpful in explaining their different wines especially on a madhouse crazy day like today.  The wines were okay and we ended up picking up a bottle of their Viognier.

Post wine tasting, we were exhausted from standing for so long and ended up sitting along the edge of the lake enjoying our cheese and crackers.  Jumping back into the minivan we waved goodbye to Corcoran and started the journey to our next vineyard.

Will we return to Corcoran?  Probably not but if you do go the staff are very nice people who have the patience of angels in dealing with a mad rush of "Grouponites".  :-)

This review is for the new brewery (opened early August 2011) AND the winery.  They both get four stars, so I combined them!

The brewery currently offers 6 beers: Wheatland, P'ville Pale, Catoctin Ale
LoCo IPA, Corkys Irish Red, and Slainte Stout.  The Stout is not typical...the "coffee" taste isn't too strong, and I actually might be able to drink more than one in a night! The staff is very friendly, too.

The winery is just a stone's throw from the brewery, in an old house by a pond.  They have barbecue every weekend, which is delicious!  You also get to try 12 wines for $12 if you choose the red and white flights combined.  They have a great sparkling wine and a port-style (called USB) that is aged in whiskey barrels! a must-try!

I only knocked them down one star because the winery tasting room was extremely crowded on both weekends we went.  I really think they should do more to accomodate the large crowds, although the historic home is beautiful.  Read our full review, along with recaps of visits to other Virginia wineries, on http://www.winecruiser...!

We did not have a good experience at Corcoran Vineyard. The wine was mediocre and the service was terrible. It was out of the way and definitely not worth it. Our sommelier was extremely under qualified and barely explained anything as she poured us the wines out of order (missing wines along the way unless we asked why we didn't try one). We purchased the groupon where we got a cheese plate, which turned out to be a normal plastic bag of boring cheese that they refused to give us until after our tasting...go figure.

Corcoran is another of the wineries that recently changed its name. Along with the name change came a better tasting room - in a nice little cabin with a great view. I visited with my mom on a Sunday and we arrived a little before they opened. The woman in the tasting room came out when she saw us and said she was still getting set up, but to have a seat on their porch and enjoy the view.

The wines were good, and the staff was very friendly.

Another great winery that is off the beaten path.  The tasting room is small, but quaint.  It's a very old home and has lots of character.  Our pourer also happened to be the owner and we very much enjoyed talking to her as we tasted.

I wouldn't bring big groups here.  It just doesn't have the spaced to make it enjoyable.  I'd keep it to groups of 4 or less.

The wine was remarkable; good.  For such a small operation it was impressive.

I'd visit here again.  Keep up the good work!

We visited this little tasting room on a cold winter day.  The tasting room had no heat on, believe or not.  I didn't mind that too much except that their wines were also at room temperature i.e. ICE COLD!  I tried warming up the glass by my hands so I could get some sense of what their wines tasted like, but it didn't work.  All I learned was that ice-cold red wines all taste the same.  I question their professionalism.

This is a wonderful family run winery. The tasting room is located in an old log cabin farm house next to a small pond. We really liked their white wines. The entire family it seems lives on the farm, their homes are spread across the entire property. The late afternoon we stopped here for a bottle of wine and a picnic, Corky stopped by to talk. He's a retired airline mechanic that bought the farm back in the '60s.

I have to start by saying, I adore Jim and Lori Corcoran.  They are some of the nicest, coolest, funnest people I've met.  And Lori makes some damn good wine!  Corcoran Vineyards is definitely off the beaten path but worth the drive.  The tasting room is very simply appointed and housed in an old cabin on the family's property (yes, every house surrounding the winery belongs to the Corcoran clan).  I've always hung out at the bar chatting with the owners but I believe there is seating in an adjacent room or downstairs.  In nice weather there are also picnic tables and plenty of lawn to throw a blanket.  And the wines - top notch.  Her Malbec is deep and rich, the Viognier soft and pretty, Chambourcin is light and fruity.  I'm so overdue for a visit ....!

Their "margarita wine" is great (if you've been there, you'll know what I'm talking about).  Unfortunately, you do feel like you're in a suburban neighborhood here, with views of "McMansions" all around.  But their wines are really fantastic.  And Lori, the owner, is usually there to provide you with one of the most entertaining tastings you'll experience.  They don't turn away limos here, so if you see a limo approach, you may want to re-visit another time.  There is simply not enough room in the tasting room (but be sure to re-visit!)

This is really a 4.5 star review.  I'd say most of the wines deserve between 2.5 and 4 stars.  I would rank the Merlot and the Mary's Cuvee the highest.  I bought a bottle of the cuvee and finished it within two days- it was delicious!

I give the wines overall 3.5 stars.  My experience would be 10 stars, if only they had more stars to give!

I came for a tasting with a public group tour that Reston Limo has available.  It was the second and last winery we tasted that day and the super friendly staff (the owner and his neighbor) were tremendous.  The wines were all good- I've had better of some of the varietals but they were all pretty good and some were fantastic.  Pourings were generous and they could not have been more helpful in helping each of us determine what our palates  favored.  They had a sangria and poured some champagne (not theirs) as well.  They even offered second tastings of the wines we favored as we were deciding which bottles to take home (we were a fun group, hehe, not sure if this is standard practice).  For that reason, I loved my experience here.  They weren't pretentious- in fact they were the extreme opposite.  They weren't stingy with their pourings and really tried to make each person's visit memorable and likable.   Considering we were a large group, the experience felt very personalized.  This would be a great visit to people new to wine tasting.

It's a smaller tasting room (if you're there with a group) and taller people may feel a bit cramped.  I didn't see a picnic area and the scenery was more suburban residential than others in the area.  That aside, I really hope to visit Corcoran again.

As a bonus, unlike the other winery we visited that day, they didn't charge us extra for coming in a group.  Thanks for everything, Corcoran Vineyards!

we went here specifically for their gold winning 2007 viognier. and we were not disappointed. although i had seen on some website their tastings began at 11, that was wrong. they begin at 12. you have to drive down a few long narrow gravelly roads to get to this place and at first i thought it was an extremely small vineyard because i only saw a couple acres of the vines but i believe it's actually 120 acres. you can't see it from the tasting room though... but that's ok, because the coolness of the husband-owner of the vineyard and the quality of the wines made it such a great experience. it's definitely the personality and the houseguest-like conversations in a smaller family winery that make it more fun than a larger, more businessy-feeling winery.
