Love this place! I can see why both Presti's and Corbos can coexist across the street from one another. They are great bakeries in their own right. For cassata cake, though, Corbos is awesome. My mother fondly remembers going to family weddings and always having cassata cake. If it passes her standards (it does) then that says volumes.

Review from Manoa H.
Stopped in during the Feast of the Assumption after picking up a few bowls of handmade cavatelli at their stand outside the bakery.
The bakery smells like a dream--namely, a fragrant, vanilla-scented, ice-cream-y dream. They sport a dazzling array of cookies and cakes, of which we sampled their tiramisu and cannolis.
The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had: the filling was rich but fluffy and infused with an intense mocha flavor, paired with a crumbly chocolatey bottom layer. Good thing I don't live near Little Italy...I'd have it every day if I could.
The cannolis were pretty good but the filling, which is embedded with chocolate chips, had an odd, custard-like--super smooth yet dense-lumpy texture. Colozza's in Parma still has the lead in the cannoli category, at least for me.
I'm not sure if they carry this all the time, but their cavatelli was excellent, with the creamy-al-dente texture of fresh pasta and stick-to-you-ribs heaviness that's characteristic of Italian comfort staples. The only drawback: our cavatelli bowls each came with an enormous meatball, just a tad smaller than a baseball, and while the flavor was good, the texture was disappointing. 60% of it must have been comprised of some odd filler that resembled bits of wet paper.
In short: Corbo's makes killer tiramisu and cavatelli (pasta only). They'll definitely be on the top of my list when I'm looking for a cassata cake or any cake, really. -

They have awesome chocolate chip cookies baked with chocolate inside but if you are looking for cassata cake go to Presti's!!

Corbo's is the only place that my family got Cannolis from. They're the absolute best around and I haven't found a better one in various states that I have traveled to.
I now live in Columbus Ohio so I make a point to get a Cannoli whenever I'm in town.
Love, love, LOVE.Listed in: 5-Star Worthy Places

Corbo's is a classic Italian bakery. The specialize in there cannolis, and they don't disappoint. There are two varieties, chocolate dipped and traditional. The filling is clearly made fresh, and has the classic taste of fresh creme. Along with the cannolis people come for small specialty cookies, and cakes too I believe.
I date a Carbone, a member of an old Italian family in Cleveland. Rumor has it that in the past if you went here for a wedding cake, and weren't Italian you were turned away. It was a strictly Italian American only business. I find history fascinating so the history behind this practically historic bakery is breathtaking. I almost wish I had a time machine just so they could tell me to take a hike for the novelty.
Ok! Enough history, you walk in, and like any bakery work your way down a line ordering items you see passing by cases as you go. I love this format personally! One other gem here my boyfriend pointed out was the pepperoni bread, it's irresistible. The Cannolis are also the best in the city, if not the United States.
Whenever I need a cannoli I know where to go. -

I wasn't incredibly impressed, esp after visiting Presti's across the street and seeing the better *looking* goods (such as the fig thingies and biscottis in general). However, the cassata is what my family has been ordering for years! I will still pop in here, but not to get all my bakery needs.

Corbo's cannolis. If there was a way to just order the filling by the liter, I could probably exist on it alone. These are the best cannolis I have ever had. So splurge a little bit and get one, splurge a little more and get a chocolate dipped cannoli.

Attention cookie lovers: if you prefer the brightly-colored, sweet, soft cookies, like rainbow ones for example, or those pink or green leaves with chocolate in the middle, then go to Corbo's instead of Presti's!! I went to Presti's the other night in search of some sugar. While that bakery was populated and fun in its own way, with lots of coffee drinkers and "designer" looking pastries, it's not what I was craving.
Went to Corbo's, and I knew just from the smell walking in that I had found what I was looking for. Everything was fantastic, from the chocolate drops to the raspberry-filled. My favorites are always the rainbow cookies, though, and I was so happy they had them here!
My husband loved the cannoli too, and said the shell was light and airy and the filling was smooth and not overly sweet with a great texture and crunch overall.
Would love to come here for a big-ass cake sometime. -

Located in the heart of Little Italy on Mayfield Road, Corbo's is a fourth generation Italian bakery specializing in cassata cakes, cannolis, tiramisu, lemon ice and other Italian pastries.
On a recent trip, I had the chocolate cannoli. The tube shaped fried pastry was perfectly crisp. The ends dipped in chocolate & upon ordering, filled with a fresh, sweet, creamy ricotta cheese mixture. The divine combination sent my pallet on a wild journey through flavortown. Madone! -

Of the 2 bakeries in Little Italy, Corbos is by far, the best!
The cookies are super fresh and they melt in your mouth. The creamy cassata cake is the best I've had (Mario Batali apparently agrees). The chocolate fudge cheesecake is to die for! I'm not a fan, but I've heard the cannolis are the best...getting their sweet tasty filling AFTER you buy them, which is a necessity. People come from all over for the pepperoni bread. It truly is, ALL THAT. Don't forget to try the spinach version! I think I like that one better. I haven't had anything I didn't like and I've tried just about everything at this point.
The prices are definitely high, but that's to be expected. Try finding pastry this good anywhere else!
Corbos used to be on the corner of Mayfield and Murry Hill. They recently moved next door, which just made sense. The old place, although charming and old school, was too small and was falling apart. The new place is huge, complete with tables and chairs and large cases full of goodies.
My one big complaint is the ambiance (which is why I'm giving a 4 star rating). It's so bright, it feels like a grocery store. There's nothing warm or inviting about the place. I feel like I'm on display when inside. There's no need for the stark lighting for the pastry cases are well lit. It's a shame because the place could be really nice. I go in and I get out quick. You won't find locals hanging out with their laptops here. When it's warm, you can sit outside, which is nice.
If Corbos were to get wise and soften the lighting, maybe adding a drop fixture or two, they'd be a really be a force to recon with.Listed in: Leave the gun, take the…

Go and get a friggin' cannoli already!!!!
The best bakery in Little Italy and perhaps in all of Cleveland. You can't beat their fresh handmade cannolis, so why try? I've also had their cakes and they are wonderful. Every time I go to Little Italy I make a stop and you should, too.Listed in: The Cleve

My bikini body's biggest enemy in Cleveland.
Drool worthy homemade pastry need I say more?? Corbo's is a place you go and you are instantly taken back to a time when you were with your parents in a candy store for the first time as a child. With childlike wonder you see all the pastries through the glass. The pure excitement of the joy you are about to experience with every bite it magical. You'll never be rushed to make a choice even on their busiest days. There is not a single thing I have had from Corbo's that wasn't sheerly orgasmic. Everything is done with the perfection and love of a grandmother. It truly is a slice of homemade heaven.
Not to Miss:
Tiramisu, soft not soaked lady fingers with the smoothest marscapone perfectly sweetened and vanillaed all topped with a layer of fine Italian espresso.
Cassatta cake, white cake, creamy vanilla pudding, fresh strawberries all topped with homemade whipped cream.
Cannoli Ever wonder why the godfather passed on the advice leave the gun take the cannoli? Try corbo's it will be apparent.
Creamsicle Torte Orange, Cream, Vanilla really is there anything that takes you back to orange popsicles stuffed with vanilla ice cream as well?
Peperonni bread, Cured meat, fresh mozarella, and flaky Italian bread best lunch you can ever have.
Hit or miss:
um. . . the weather. .. .it is in Cleveland

The cannolis are perfection because of one key difference between Corbo's and other Italian bakeries; they keep the filling in the fridge in piping bags, and only fill each shell as the cannolis are ordered. The result is a perfectly crunchy shell that hugs its creamy riccota filling without sogginess. The staff on duty the day I visited the bakery had no idea how to prepare espresso drinks. This normally would have irritated me enough to knock off an entire star from a review. However, the desserts made up for this deficiency and the regular drip coffee actually ended up being really good.

MMMMMMM cannolis and chocolate cake! These guys are the pros when it comes to good old Italian desserts. Yes they have hype working in their favor, but they earned it! The Little Italy area is full of history and just a really cool place to walk around and try all the food! The smell in this place is just amazing too. If they could bottle it into a candle or something they would be millionaires! Maybe!? This is a must try for all fans of Italian desserts

The cassata cake was delicious. The cannoli was good. The tiramisu was also a great desert. I came here after taking mom out for lunch and we both ate a lot of unhealthy deserts. It was worth it. A great way to end a day or night in Little Italy.

Best canoli i've ever had, and I've had a few. That's the reason I go here and they are pretty much all I get.
And I love the motto posted on the door, "Leave The Gun, Take The Canoli." -

My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. I don't go here often, but when I do, it's on a mission for cassata cake. Every birthday in my family has been celebrated with one for more than a decade now and with good reason. I've never had better cassata from anywhere else. Hands down.
Oh, and the canoli aren't so bad either ;) -

There cannolis are the best I've ever had. I would recommend the chocolate dipped shell, they are pricey ( $3.75 ) , but they are worth every penny.
From what I have herd there cassata cake is the best in the country, according to Mario Batali:
"Corbo's Bakery has the best cassata [cake] I have tried in the USA," says chef and Food Network star Mario Batali. -

Authentic. Italian. Pastries.
This place would not be out of place anywhere in Italy (especially Naples, teehee). Truly a gem for Cleveland.
ps. don't complain about the parking -- walk, or ride a scooter. :) -

The place to get your cassatta cake from - no joke. I forget all the rest after a piece or two of it... Corbo's Bakery makes fantastic wedding cakes as well and they have won several national wedding cake awards - just saying ;-)

Not usually one for deserts, but the Corbo Casatta Cake is one that you will always, ALWAYS use as the gold standard. Word in the food world has Mario Battalli as one of it's biggest fans.

After ten years (so far) of exile in MA and numerous trips to the North End Dear Hubby and I have not been able to find any bakery as good as Corbo's. Had to make the pilgrimage to Corbo's when we were in OH last week and once again they did not disappoint. Got a sack of their biscotti and compared one-to-one against a bakery near our home. No contest...Corbo's far and away superior. *sigh* Too bad they're over 600 miles from my taste buds right now. :-( BTW, it's ALL good!

Corbo's has excellent cakes and Italian desserts. The orange creamsicle cake is amazing! I'm also a fan of the rum baba.

I've been to Corbo's and Presti's a couple times and find that the pastries taste much fresher and better at Presti's. The cassata cake tasted somewhat dry and heavy at Corbo's while at Presti's it was fresh and moist and blended together with the layers of custard. I'm not sure what to make of the cookies at Corbo's. They had a a somewhat unfresh aftertaste that made me wonder if they were baked with margarine. I suspect that everything is fresh at Corbo's but the consistency and flavor don't prove it.

Pastries and service are excellent! We generally stop here (and Presti's) and pick up cookies to bring back for friends - the food is outstanding and we are much appreciated when we share it.

Mah, do not like the new location. It really lost a lot of charm. Cannolis still great though.

Yellow 3 layer cake with fresh strawberries :-) Very classy and dreamy. A must on all birthdays in our and many of our friends homes. Never had a problem of leftovers.
