When I first arrived at the Coqui Inn, I thought it was adorable!  There are murals everywhere and it is a typical Caribbean inn.  This actually used to be three hotels - the Mango Inn, Casa Mathiesen, and the Green Isle Inn.  They have been perfectly integrated into the Coqui Inn, and I was all set for a great time.

Unfortunately, I found myself greatly disappointed.  The first room we were put into, there was water all over the bathroom floor.  Instead of moving us to another room right away, they had us wait 45 minutes while they determined it was a slow leak and we would have to be moved.  No matter, the next room we moved to was spacious and beautiful.  Unfortunately, it wasn't until after we had settled in that we learned there was no hot water in the shower, and the wireless access was spotty at best.  They offered to move us again...to a room right off the lobby, which had a noisy TV playing all the time.  They offered us another room, but it was upstairs and I have difficulty with stairs.  So we ended up keeping the room we had.  Unfortunately, the light stopped working in the bathroom too, so we took cool showers in the dark.

The room we were in, 337, is right next to the housekeeping area, so every morning we heard them talking to each other around 9am.  This was not a problem until the last morning, when the A/C stopped working, and we had no white noise to cover them up.  The people at the desk tried to be helpful where they could; they did refund about 25% of our total stay because of how difficult an experience we had.

The Coqui Inn is adorable, there are working computers in the lobby, and it's nice to sit out in the gardens with your laptop, where the wifi works fine.  The small pool near the front desk is a little exposed, but the larger pool in the back is nice.  Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to like the Coqui Inn, it is in pretty bad condition and the maintenance people are mostly useless.  It's a really cute hotel but that doesn't make up for the fact that it's kind of falling apart.  (Oh, and don't visit the attached Nikko restaurant - see my separate review for that story.)

PS: If you do stay at the Coqui Inn, do NOT let your cab driver drop you off at the end of the block.  That is an OLD entrance, and you will have a bit of a hike to get to the real one!  Make sure you are dropped off in the middle of the block.
