I could easily have a lot against bowling. With the previously worn shoes, the smoky bar areas, and the enthusiasts passing judgment on you every time you toss the ball in the gutter, one has to wonder what the appeal is here.
Even though I am not a skilled bowler, somehow I like it. I love the sound of the pins being knocked over. I marvel at the little computers that keep score for you. I adore the way the ball disappears and then returns to you after you throw it in a less than impressive way. When I want the simple pleasure of bowling, I go to Copperfield Bowl.
I'm really fairly bad and not competitive enough to care but I have fun trying to knock the pins down. It is substantially more entertaining when I pretend I know what I am doing and start to beat the other bowlers in my group (this never lasts long). Copperfield Bowl is open for my pleasure 7 days a week and they keep late night hours so you can bowl in your funky shoes well into the night.
For fun, they even offer adult birthday packages as well as children's. Personally, I think this would be a great time - you grab your greasy food and beer from The Grill and bowl until they kick you out.
I'll never be a skilled bowler. I'll never own my own ball or shoes or be on a team. But, when I have the urge to throw a sparkly pink ball down the lanes for a few hours, you'll find me at Copperfield Bowl.

I tried taking my family here for the first time last Friday evening. I would never go back. It is dirty and smoky. We were told the wait would be an hour and a half for a lane even though there were open lanes. There were people hanging around the front door outside which made me uncomfortable. I've been here for birthday parties on Saturday and it isn't too bad for that. The staff really didn't seem to care much about the customer. I will definitely go some place else next time.
The lanes here can be pretty sucktastic because they are older. The place is smoky smelling. . . that's not good. On the upside, however, bowling is cheaper here than at newer lanes--so it's A-OK!
