If your staying in Bisbee then I would highly recommend the historic Copper Queen Hotel. The evening clerk who checked us in (Dominic) was very nice and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and is over 100 years old. The room was comfortable and clean and roomy.
We had breakfast and dinner at the attached Winchester Restaurant. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary. They offer the usual fare. Dinner on the hand was excellent. I had the Rainbow trout almondine and my friend had the NY strip. I love well prepared trout and this was done to perfection.
This is a totally cool "wild west" saloon.
I can imagine in the days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday and the "Bisbee Mob" that this town thrived with bordello's and shoot outs daily.
The hotel is old and thrives with ghost stories about the apparitions and things that get moved by the settlers that don't like what the "modern folk" do.
Our bartender Karen was surly but she knows her stuff in a no-nonsense kind of way. The town of Bisbee itself is a cool art community with all kinds of neat things to see.
Saloon food was pretty descent. I got the chicken tortilla soup, mozzarella sticks and Mr. L and I shared a ceasar salad. They even let us carve in the wood.
So, as Doc Holiday says, "I'll be your Huckleberry"!

Very cool, centrally located hotel. Legend has it that there a few ghosts that haunt the joint. Not sure if there is any truth to that but they do have a log book of sightings and happenings. Initially stayed here a few days before New Years and then was able to book a room for New Years based on a cancellation.
The staff is super friendly and the saloon in the hotel was the best place to be on NYE.
Totaly cool saloon bar. I can't speak for the Hotel rooms, although the building looks great from the outside... the Winchester restaurant also has a decent (if predictable) menu.
Cheap drinks, great outdoor balcony for people watching and enjoying the night air, local beers on tap and a wicked entertaining bunch of locals every night. Highly recommended.
I think the Hotel is lovely (although a little strong on the ghost kitsch), but I was really, really, really disappointed by the deserts in their hotel. We ordered a bourbon pecan pie and a chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream. The pie was way too sweet and soggy, and the cake, well, it was cake mix, cheap cheap ice-cream, cheap bottled fudge, and cool whip. When the waitstaff saw that I wouldn't touch it the manager came out to explain to me that they had been having trouble with their whipped cream and that it magically collapsed on the way to the table, adding insult to injury. While I would love to stay, I wouldn't eat there again. I'd rather go hungry.

this place is also known as "The Winchester"...there are many things about this location that make it a necessary stop for me and my family every few months. here is why:
a. in case of zombie attack, this is where my family is meeting up, so we have to refresh our memory of its location periodically. (if you have ever seen shawn of the dead, you will understand the joke...blame my dad, he thinks it's clever).
b. the grub is tasty! i have had the cordon bleu, which was good, but not mind blowing, and the pork, which was awesome! i haven't eaten the ribs, but i have watched someone and the meat falls off the bone. the appetizers are pretty awesome too...try the flatbread :) :) :)
c. dessert. it gets its own section because it is gonna BLOW YOUR MIND! the bread pudding is slap-yo-mamma-delicious and the peach cobbler will make you cream your pants. whenever we go, we order one of everything and pass them around the table til they are all gone. it makes me so amazingly happy.
so, in case of zombie attack, you will know where to find me. i will be living off of the desserts :)

The Winchester Restaurant is on the bottom floor of the Copper Queen Hotel. They also have a saloon with bar food, but I didn't manage to make it over there.
Ok, so the Winchester isn't the most vegetarian friendly restaurant in town, but I still liked it. Actually, it isn't very vegetarian friendly at all...resign yourself to side salads, a potato appetizer, and dessert. That being said, I only went there for coffee and dessert anyways...so it was perfect!
Their bread pudding is just about the best I've had. Amen.
Who can resist the allure of lodging at an allegedly haunted 100+ year old hotel? Bisbee Arizona was not always a sleepy little town at one point it was the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco and full of desperate miners trying to strike it rich. While the Copper Queen has seen extensive remodeling to make the rooms larger and eliminate the shared bathrooms. The early 1900s wood work, antiques, and stone fireplaces all serve to maintain a classic and somewhat majestic feel.
The rooms are quite nice, we stayed in the John Wayne suite, which is named after it's famous previous patron (he stayed in the room every time while filming numerous movies in the area), the room included a large selection of DVDs (westerns and military films) featuring the aforementioned actor as well. The Queen has a small saloon on the first floor which seemed like the perfect watering hole after a long day of tooling around the tourist traps. Winchester's Restaurant is also located on the first floor and while I found the menu to be pleasing and the food to be enjoyable it was not consistent and the service left much to be desired.
The hotel has literature detailing the numerous ghost stories and reported hauntings which have taken place within it's walls and at least one TV show has filmed paranormal events inside the Queen (search YouTube for Copper Queen to see the Ghost Hunters).
