Oh Copper Baby!
This year I purchased the Snow Day Pass. For $99, every single time it snows more than "4, I can ski Copper. Now some may think, well what if it doesn't snow? Well, what if you can't get off on the snow days? Lucky for me, my work schedule has me home 4 days a week. The odds are with me. Not only that, Copper Mountain gave 2 guaranteed days of skiing on the pass - Superbowl Sunday (used it), and closing day. So, even if I never came up on a 4" snow day, the 2 days I was given were worth the cost of the pass. But, I have been up 4 times already.
Oh, and they offer 4, $69 Friends/ family/ guest passes for others.
What a great deal!
The mountain has great runs. Even the green runs are challenging. The blues are challenging. I don't even ride the blacks because I don't like bumps and I don't like steep. But, if that's your thing and you are a daredevil, you will love the runs.
I also love the cute little music shacks (mid mountain) that serve adult beverages and have outdoor seating to chill and watch the entertainment coming down the mountain. Catch some rays, have an Irish coffee and take a load off while you rest your legs before heading back up to take on the Copper Magic.
Summer time here is awesome as well, concerts and great mountain bars.
Check out the ski/ ride events.
Nothing bad to say at all. -

Just as they separated the intermediate runs, they also separate the bus stops with the difficulty levels (green - beginner, blue - intermediate, black - expert). Considering it hadn't snowed for about 2 weeks when I came here for my birthday trip, the runs were pretty nice. Some spots were icy, but it wasn't terrible.
Since we found out the lift ticket was going to be as pricey as Keystone, I was searching for a good deal and found that Liftopia sells Copper tix about $30 off from the ticket window price. They don't sell big resorts' tickets, but Copper is pretty small compared to the other resorts and for this price, I think it's a steal. Just like Alex C. said, this resort has shorter lines than other resort and if you like riding along people of similar skills, this mountain is definitely for you. No worries of bumping into beginners or bothering the experts by stopping in the middle when you fell.Listed in: Best Snowboard Terrains In and…

They have nice people here. I didn't know how to ski at all, so when I came here I was literally rolling down the mountain every day. The first night, sweeps ended up taking me down on a sled, and the second night two nice ranger ladies assisted me down and then told me I should take classes before I get seriously injured. I took their advice and I was cruising green/blues after two days.
Minus one star because all the beginner lifts weren't open when I went. The only ones were the bunny slopes -- the little conveyor belt for the kindergartners and then Green Acres which was relatively flat. Union Creek was closed, so I went directly onto American Flyer (green with some blues) and that was terrifying for someone who has never skied before. -

I use to be Copper Mountain's biggest fan. We skied there for years, but I'm thinking next year it's time for a change. The best place for locals to ski is now just another corporate bunch of nickel and dime and run around. You can't leave a bag with your lunch or your kids' mittens without a 6 or 10 dollar locker fee. You may not have anywhere better than a floor to eat it anyway since they only sporadically allow you to use the conference center area. Today, the lines were ridiculously slow due to their new practice of bumping all of us who are waiting in line to allow the singles line to fill a chair every four chairs... It doubled our wait. The coupons for friends and family are now a total joke too. At this point copper is no different from the other resorts so I may as well ski them.

Took my family and spent the new year eve there (2012). The resort arranged fire dancers and two fireworks shows. The fireworks shows were quite amazing. Not a ton of people nor too many dinning choices, but we brought our own dinner, so no problem. I would recommended it as a fun alternative new years eve if you like snow sports.

So I got a response from Management, who let me know that they spoke with the coach that worked with my son and that they read my letter. What they didn't do was reimburse me for the price discrepancy or offer to make any type of restitution. I was really surprised, for a place that seems so polished, this experience and response left me feeling pretty meh.

I love you Copper Mountain!
I've had a pass here for almost my entire life, and I still never get bored with it. For three years I worked at Keystone, so I had a Vail pass, but I still found myself skiing at Copper more days a season than all of those combined. My favorite part about Copper is never waiting in lift lines. This past, amazing season, even during the Christmas-New Years weeks I never waited more than 5 minutes in a line. Try doing that at Keystone!
Who else has a free cat for some in bounds hiking? Well planned separation of beginner, intermediate, and advanced skiiers? And, again, no lift lines?
Nothing beats a great day skiing at Copper and a couple (reasonably priced) beers at the bottom of Super Bee on a bluebird day. -

This is a great mountain for families, particularly if you use the West Village as a base. You can access plenty of green runs and groomers from there; you can also easily work your way to more challenging terrain. Buses run efficiently from the free parking lot. One bit of advice: pack a lunch. The food and beverage prices are (predictably) steep.

Review from Mike K.
This is my favorite mountain of all time. Granted, this is my second official season riding and I usually ride in the Midwest but I can safely say that Copper is tops (so far).
I'd rate myself as an advanced beginner or newb-intermediate and I really appreciated the beginner friendly runs. They're a grade steeper than the Midwest but I enjoyed the challenge. If I lived closer by, I could really see myself progressing nicely here.
The runs are long and wide. There are multiple routes to choose from which keeps the riding varied and fun. The mountain is huge so you won't get bored here. I'd doubt you'd even get to see the entire mountain in one day.
If you're a beginner, I can safely vouch that this mountain is your speed. You won't feel as though you spent good money on a lift ticket for a mountain you couldn't hardly ride. Here, you'll be able to enjoy a great portion of the mountain and be challenged to progress at a comfortable pace.
The lifts are speedy and well managed. I basically rode the American Flyer all day and pummeled all the green runs. Easy load and unload. The view was ridiculously gorgeous. I even had the (mis)fortune of having to ride the lift down and the view is spectacular both ways.
Speaking of riding the lift down...
When I got to the top of the lift for the first time, I immediately noticed something was wrong. I was pointed down the mountain but I wasn't moving. It was like I was standing on carpet. Something was terribly wrong. I deduced my board needed to be waxed (it had been a while) so I took the lift back down to the shop (embarrassing) to get it done.
Luckily, the shop guy was awesome and quickly hooked me up. He noticed the sad state of my board and expertly cleaned and waxed the board to perfection.
Protip for all you riders - Wax your board. Don't be like me and show up to the mountain and waste a good hour of riding time by waiting for your board to be waxed. Take care of that before you get to the mountain. Your lift ticket fee is better used for riding. Trust me.
My brother and I skipped lunch but the food options seemed plentiful and tasty. The village is well stocked w/ places to eat, drink and relax. The shop is also decently supplied and I'm sure you'd be able to gear up nicely if you forgot something or if you wanted to pick something up.
It's a great place - Copper Mountain. I can't wait to go back! -

I love to ski Copper because the Mountain is easy to get to, just hop on the bus in Frisco and you are there in 5 minutes! The mountain is divided into beginner, intermediate, and expert. When you go skiing, depending on your level, you never can get mixed up and end up in an area that you didn't want to go to. The skiing is great, never have any problems with crowds and the snow is usually awesome!

Review from Sarah G.
Is it weird that I want to keep abbreviating Copper with Cu?
This being my first trip to a mountain, I really have nothing to compare Copper to, but from my experiences I'd definitely go back. Unfortunately somehow we ended up here on president's day weekend - who knew that was one of the busiest times? So while Friday was definitely crowded, Saturday was wall to wall [hill to hill] people. This became even more apparent when the American Flyer lift was shut down for about an hour and everyone started using the American Eagle lift. Good thing the runs are long here, because waiting in line for and riding the lift takes about 40 minutes, depending.
It was nice though, that everyone starts packing it in about an hour before the lifts shut down (4pm) so that last hour you can pretty much ride unadulterated without lines. And both days, it started snowing around this time as well, which continued throughout the evening and into the night. As such, I could see how purchasing Copper's ubiquitous 'Snow Day Pass' - where for $99 you get to ski/board free anytime it shows more than 4" - would be worthwhile.
Lift tickets can be pricey, but if you shop around a little you can find good deals and coupons. (I bought ours at http://liftopia.com for $60/day). As for the resort itself, it kind of reminded me of being at a theme park... it looks like you have lots of options for dining and shopping, but really it's all owned by the same company so there really isn't that much variety. None of the meals we had at Copper were above average.
As for rentals, I was glad that Bill suggested I rent in Denver (and that Brian got a trunk giant Grand Marquis for a rental car) since that saved me half the price it would have been on the mountain. And if you do rent at Copper, note that they'll probably throw a helmet rental on there too (even if you don't take one). -

This place never disappoints me. Just a little past Breck and Keystone, right off the 70 and a killer ride. Totally worth the trip.
I can't really tell why I love this place so much. It has the same things other resorts have. Green, Blue, Black runs, park, tree riding, but there is something about this place...ummm...ohh, it's the snow! Lots of it!
It's hard to describe, other than how good the snow here is, you really have to get over here and check it out. Although it is close to Breck and Keystone, it blows them out of the water.
Don't take my word for it. Jump in the car! -
Review from Amanda T.
I really enjoyed skiing at Copper this past Saturday! It's a very friendly mountain for beginners/intermediates. Additionally the view is spectacular and you can get cheap hot dogs at Coppers which is at the base of American Flyer. I mean, seriously: $5 for a hot dog and soda or beer? Pretty rad!
Perhaps the only thing that annoyed me is that the paid parking doesn't *really* get you any closer to the lifts than the free/parking shuttle system does. In fact, I think you get closer to the lifts if you opt for the shuttle. Ah well, lesson learned for next time!Listed in: Skiing!

Denver, CO
I a huge fan of Copper - although granted, I've really only skied 3 resorts in the past 3 years! Copper is an easy drive from Denver, and if you book it out early you can usually beat the heavy traffic. The free parking shuttle gets you pretty close to the lifts, which means you can save your legs for the mountain - another great thing!
As far as lift tickets, there are deals aplenty. If you're a local, you'd be a fool to pay full price at the ticket window ($$$$). You can get them in Denver at kiosks at your local grocery store or REI ($$$), or you can glom on to a friend with a season pass and use one of their buddy passes ($$). For the past two years, there were some pretty sweet three-mountain deals floating around (the pow-pow platter for Copper, WP, and Steamboat - $), but since Copper is under different ownership they've discontinued that pass. I think some Shell stations offer BOGOF tix with the purchase of a full tank, but you have to look around and figure out which ones participate (or at least, they used to).
As far as the mountain goes, it's got naturally divided terrain so it's perfect for any skill level. I used to think that the secret to packing in a full weekend ski day was never to go all the way down the mountain (unless you're at the Super Bee), but I've decided the mid-mountain lifts are just as busy as the base. I never stay for quite the full day anymore anyways - I'd rather cut an hour off my ski day to save two hours in traffic.
It seems unlikely, but you can do to Copper on the cheap! Rent your gear in Denver (way cheaper than the resort rentals), get a BOGOF or buddy pass ticket, and bring your lunch/snacks. Done! Sadly, I'm probably getting a 5-mountain pass next year, but only so I can experience more amazing Colorado snow! -

I love Copper. Its a great mountain, never too crowded since its not one of the Vail resorts.
Free skiier parking and buses. Lots of varied terrain for everyone. The trees and the powder are waiting to be found and the back bowls along with the free - yeah that's right free - snowcat is pretty great. This brings you to tucker mountain, where a little hike to the edge of the world will bring you fresh tracks no matter how long ago it was that is snowed. -
Review from Kmberly B.
Denver, CO
Copper makes me happy. I try and snowboard up to 4 days a week and this is definitely one of my regular mountains. It's really nice that the parking is just off the highway and free. There's a free shuttle that runs very frequently taking people back and forth from the parking area to the base so it's not a problem to leave things in your car or come back for lunch.
The runs are always groomed well leaving fresh powder pockets on all the tree lines. Most people don't really ride the trees here, which means you can make fresh tracks a few days after a storm. I rarely wait in line here and if I do, it's usuall short.
My favorite thing about Copper is the progression of their parks. They have several parks and each one is broken up into size category starting at small and working into massive. It's great because you can go in or out of any of the sections without waiting in line to get to the bigger feature park and since the progression is there each time you take a jump it just gets a little bit bigger. The best part is that the extreme park has a really big incline to get into it. So, people who aren't at the level to get up the incline obviously aren't meant to be in that park. Which is really nice so you don't have to worry about someone breaking your line when they shouldn't even be there.
Plus as a major added bonus most of the bro-brah crowd go to Breck or Keystone, so you don't feel like you're standing in line and competing all day long.
Get a pass, or even a four pack. You won't be disappointed.Listed in: Snowboarding Mountains

We stay up here once a year... this last time for a formal event.
The staff was veryvery friendly and accommodating and I know they group we were with are not the easiest to deal with... but 100+ people all in the same building is not an easy task!
The rooms were a little on the older side than what we normally stay in, but it was all clean.
I would have preferred to have had a better stocked kitchen (cookie sheets and bigger pans) but it was still great :) -

We have been going to Copper Mountain for several years. I can't express how disappointing this last experience over Thanksgiving was. My nephew was skiing for the first time. We arrived at 8:15 and did not make it out for his lesson until 10:00. This meant several long aggravating rental lines, and guest services lines that were unorganized. There is not a good system in place and their excuse was that their regular ski school would be open December 18th. However, I was expected to pay the same price for skiing as if it were their "regular" ski school. My nephew did learn to ski but we never did see him because they moved him over to another part of the mountain that was not open. I paid what other skiers will pay to have a better experience in December. Really? Why should I pay for their inadequacies? I was clearly not the only customer upset. Another lady from Telluride said the same thing that I did and another family was dealing with a huge mix up in online payment. I thought by paying online, scheduling in advance, that this would make the process easier. The only other time I have felt this frustrated is with the airlines. So if you are traveling to Colorado and want an enjoyable ski experience, save yourself a huge headache and go skiing at another resort! I have worked at many ski areas and was taught the huge importance of customer appreciation. It is truly lacking here! I also was yelled at by a man in the locker area when trying to set my nephew boots down so I could help him with the 2 hour rental line. I now cal him the locker Nazi. Copper Mountain has gotten so big that really once they have your money service is just hit and miss and this was definitely a miss. Next time we have skiers from out of town we will advise them to go anywhere but Copper Mountain.

We ended up at Copper Mountain because on our way out to Vail a major snow storm hit and Vail Pass was shut down due to weather.
I was a bit bummed when I first arrived but I left loving Copper Mountain. It wasn't crowded at all and it was smack in the middle of a holiday weekend. There is a nice variety of terrain without feeling like you will get lost or you have to spend your time just getting to the part of the mountain you want to. We ended up staying the night there because we couldn't get home (weather) and we had a blast. We weren't hitting the bar that late but we stayed out till about 10 and enjoyed a nice nightlife crowd.
From now on I will be including a ski day at Copper in my Colorado ski trip plans! -

Copper is one of my favorite places to ski. That said, I probably only ski about 4-5 times a season so I'm definitely not a pro. But when I wanna ski, I find myself here. It feels accessible and easy to navigate, two big things in my book. I think it's a given that you need to head up the mountain early and always expect killer traffic - these days it looks like even Fridays are starting to get packed, although no where near what you'd run into on a weekend. Maybe it's something about skiing, but I've never seen an unhappy face here (unless it's mine, after crashing.)
Note to renters: Shop around on rentals off the mountain before you come up here. Discounts abound, but I've discovered even with a coupon you can still end up paying a ton.
For peeps like me without a season pass - do yourself a favor and go with someone who has a buddy pass so you can ski cheaper.Listed in: Are you visiting me?, Skiing!

Review from Sally M.
My all-time favourite mountain. Hands down. I grew up skiing & riding here with Copper Choppers every Saturday from age 8 to 15. I know this mtn like the back of my hand, and have seen it through its evolution. Cool people, nice/mellow ambiance, a respect for snowboarding (Copper never outlawed it like Aspen & others), and a great vibe. Less pretentious than Vail (and more local - typically only Coloradans know about Copper). Better runs/snow than Breck (though it has the Breck vibe that I love). Equal quality runs and snow to Keystone, but lacks the family/kiddie vibe that Keystone emits.
Tips: Check out Far West and Resolution Bowl on great pow days; also hike up to Union Bowl at the top of S. If a great base and pow, venture into Enchanted Forest and 17 Glades. Sail Away is also fun, and has a long tree-trail at the bottom of it.
Tucker is fun if you want untouched trails, and now they even have a snow cat to take you half way up! (Back in the day, when they first opened it, you had to hike the whole way - 45 mins, rather than 20 mins now with the cat.) I recommend the Nacho...
Snowboarders be wary of Spaulding Bowl - it's got massive moguls (akin to those on "Outhouse" btw Winter Park and Mary Jane), and the bowl is also at a slant so you kinda gotta commit to one-type of turn the whole way down. But *SKIERS*, you may fall in love - this used to be one of my favs as a skier.
Beware in Spaulding Glades - be careful not to miss The Res lift, b/c if you go too far thru the trees, you'll end up at the Hwy (I would know b/c my friend & I did it once and had to hitch hike back to B [now the Super Bee].)
For food: check out Creekside Pizza in the village, and there's a mean buffet at that Chinese place.
And for the best cruiser: take the Eagle up to E, head down Mine Dump, cut over to Rhapsody, then sail down Main Vein.
Also... I'm not a park & pipe kind of girl, so no comment there. I much prefer the solitude of a big, wide open bowl, covered in fresh powder, leading into the trees... so the back of S and Copper Bowl are some of my favourite places to hide.
Gawd, I love this mountain! Is it winter yet? -
Review from Jon D.
If I lived in Colorado (which hopefully some day, I will) this would probably be my resident mountain. My home base. My Valhalla. My mecca. My wailing wall. My St. Peters. My North Shore. My piece of Toast with Jesus on it.
Came here for the first time last season over president's day weekend and I'm not kidding - I experienced one of my TOP 10 days of Skiing of all time. (side note: I've been skiing for over 25 years to give you an idea of the significance of this).
And over president's day! Probably the craziest day to go skiing all year - and I was still hootin' and hollarin' like a crazy man and shootin' down the mountain all day. Seriously. I'm not kidding. If you were there that day and saw some dude seriously laughing and yelling with joy (like a crazy person) while flying mach 2 down the mountain and you thought to yourself: "dude - that guy's nuts. He's gonna hurt someone. Or himself at least."
Um... yeah, that was me.
Seriously. I'm not joking. I was actually re-writing the lyrics to "Jizz in my Pants" so that they personally reflected my orgasmic experience of skiing that day.
What an awesome mountain. Awesome terrain. Great steep. Frickin' BEAUTIFUL snow. Clear blue sunshine and 35 degrees in February. Absolutely perfect.
In my top 10 days of all time.
Can't wait to come back. I love Copper Mtn. I'm a huge fan. I think I'm going to name my kid Copper after this mountain. (Okay, at least my next dog.)
Only con: Seriously - 100 bucks to go skiing? Guess I'll have to save up for the next visit. -

This review is going to be different than most. Why? I am reviewing the mountain for the summer months.
Let me start by saying that if you are going to get a lift pass for you and your mountain bike, this is a great place. For about $15, you get unlimited rides on the lift. My friend and I find the medium and difficult trails the most enjoyable, especially by starting on the harder ones, and moving to the medium trails as the day wears on. We usually get about 4 runs in before we need to have some beer.
Also, be sure to check out the hiking trails. There are some absolutely gorgeous spots where you can walk through aspen groves on the side of the mountain.
Here's a link to some photos of our last trip up there:

AWESOME!!!
I had the opportunity to work in a day of skiing between appointments on my recent trip to Denver. Getting here from Denver was so easy, just right of interstate 70.
Went on a weekday so we had the mountain to ourselves. Perfect snow condition and it was snowing a bit while we were carving up the mountain. We got a 2 for 1 coupon from Shell if you fill up 10 gallons or more, which was perfect.
What can I say...good work week, better ski trip. -

I have been coming to this area to ski since I was 7 years old, and have tried most of the major resorts - Keystone, Winter Park, Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Loveland... you name it, I've skied it. But my family and I have grown to love Copper so much we recently invested in a condo here.
Copper is the largest resort in Summit County when measured by area, so LOTS of great terrain for all levels. The mountain is also mostly divided by difficulty, which is nice because it keeps everyone where they're supposed to be. The resort itself isn't as big or plush as some of the others in the area, but the feeling is very laid back and there are a lot of great restaurants and bars. No need to dress up for dinner here - a lot of people come straight off the slopes to even the fanciest restaurants.
The ski school here is spectacular. I spent many years at Union Creek learning to ski as a child, and in more recent years have enjoyed many great private lessons with knowledgeable and friendly instructors. Really everyone who works here is great - from the lift operators to the restaurant servers - most are twentysomethings who are there because they love the mountain, and that makes for a very high morale. I've never had any problems with service in any aspects of my stays at Copper.
Copper in the summer is also awesome. The resort hosts some great concerts, and there are good hiking and mountain biking trails. This area is gorgeous year-round, with lots of great things to see and do within driving distance - Copper makes a great base for these kinds of trips.
A word to sea-level dwellers like myself however - it's really freaking high up here. The altitude at the base is almost 10,000 feet, so stay hydrated chickadees, or otherwise you'll be too sick to enjoy everything this amazing mountain has to offer.Listed in: High Country Favorites

I would rate this as the best ski resort outside of Whistler Canada. But then I might be biased since my Sis was a ski instructor here for 2 years and I always got VIP treatment..
I do not have any bias in saying this place is beautiful. And I no longer get discounts but I still think their rental rates are reasonable and they offer lessons for kids 3+ and Seniors... -

Bad choice. Like sleeping on a friend's couch in a noisy neighborhood. Murphy Beds, no joke. Shower didn't work, staff not at all helpful ("You can walk across the resort to the athletic club") Tiny rooms, no A/C, no WiFi, no lights in garage. Stay at a Motel 6 and buy a ski pass, you'll be way ahead.

Denver, CO
I like to drive straight there, go up the lift and come straight down as fast as possible as many times in a row as I can before driving straight back to Denver as quickly as possible. Copper Mountain is the best mountain I know of for that.
If I seem kind of terse about it that's because I'm maybe a little bitter. All of the resorts within day-trip distance from Denver are crowded with long lift lines, crazy people everywhere, and the traffic is ridiculous and seems to be getting worse every year. About half my seasons have ended prematurely either due to an injury or me getting fed up with all the other factors. But I do love snowboarding and I genuinely like Copper Mountain and the resort.
On the busy holiday weekends I don't go at all, and when there are lots of little kids making huge "S" turns on runs that they shouldn't be on yet, I call the art of not hitting them the "Pediatric Slalom." If anyone has a better solution to going up on the weekends that doesn't involve moving to Utah and smuggling liquor across the border from Wyoming please let me know.
I think one of the lift operators at Copper said it best, he can always tell when the terrain park is open because that's the week that employees start showing up to work with black eyes, missing teeth and arms in slings.
But they have really good freestyle terrain if you are into that. I'm starting to get old so I avoid it more and more. I still like the smaller pipe but I didn't even see one this year at Copper. It's as safe as can be and they've got some really fun-looking stuff. Maybe I'm just a little bitter because I've gotten hurt a few times. Be safe and have fun. -

Disclaimer: I only ski 4-5 times a year since I'm a student and I've only skied here for the past 5 years because of the decent prices for high-quality skiing (Four Pass/TransFour Pass).
BUT, with that said, I think Copper is one of the best ski resorts in Colorado.
It's family-friendly, has a wide range of terrain for all levels (including some awesome glades and bowls), beautiful views, and is affordable, easily accessible, and comfortable.
And to address some concerns about the snow: The snow in Colorado, in general, sucked this year and has just been getting better recently (late snow-fall this season). So don't hold it against any of the resorts. It was the worst snow in quite a while. Trust me. I've skied for 22 years. And many of those years at Copper.
I have gone here several years with a group of out-of-state college friends. Every year we debate going somewhere new. But with such good times and memories at Copper, we keep returning. -

It was a treat to be able to spend a weekend at this resort. The stay was even better because I was there in the middle of summer! I was curious as to what the Copper Mountain area actually was. As somewhat expected the Resort is the town. It's much like Aspen or Vail but a lot smaller.
The layout is easy to navigate and absolutely gorgeous. Although I am not into winter sports I can only imagine how beautiful it must be and the activities I bet are excellent.
There are a number of restaurants and bars in the resort that are exceptionally accomadating. Plenty of parking make any event at Copper Mountain a breeze.
I would definately recommend a visit adn stay as long as you can. I would love the chance to return. -

I like Copper. I would say it is a very close second to only one other ski place and that would be Keystone. I really like it because it is never really that busy compared to rest of the resorts. It seems like it is a lot less touristy which helps a lot. For a couple years this is where I was getting my season pass before I switched to Keystone for a year.
All the people that work there from the bus drivers at the off-site lots, to the people on the lifts they are all very friendly and helpful. They always seem to be having a good time and willing to help if you need anything.
Also they typically have good deals around town with gas stations, airlines, etc to get some decent prices on tickets. -

Coppermountain Resort, Colorado:
Sweet!!! Walk out your door & theres the lift!!! They have concerts there too so enjoy!! Too bad only one lift was open during "Lift Off 2008" Event. This is a tourist spot. Its great snowboarding, not much trick stands & all.... still prefer brenkenridge or other local places with restaurants & walking places.
There are different Plazas or resorts within Coppermountain. They're all owned or managed by same people.
Mountain Plaza
Right by the Lift, In the middel of the village.
Restaurant within Mountain Plaza - Endo Restaurant & Bar.
Amenities: Its okay but still nicer than motels. Cabin like hotel. Management is at the Copper Mountain Plaza. There is spa & sauna. Recreational Center is a short walk. But everything at Coppermountain is really close walking distance.
Include: Soap, Shampoo, Towels, Heater, etc...
Not Include: Conditioner -

I'll keep this short:
I'm hereby renaming Copper Mountain "Mogul Mountain." So if you hate them as much as I do, head to another resort (I suggest Steamboat, Snowy Range, Breckenridge, or Winter Park). Even the green slopes had moguls en masse. Minus 1 star.
Also, I went last month during the Thanksgiving holiday. I should have known it would be frickin' packed, but it was so busy that I never fully enjoyed myself. I had the nervous feeling that either some idiot behind me would fly past, clipping me, OR that I would accidentally run over some kid. I'm an excellent skier, but have never felt this way while skiing. Minus 1 more star.
On the bright side, the snow was good, and they had the snow making guns working. It ended up lightly snowing in the afternoon, but the snow making guns they have put out such nice fake snow that you couldn't tell the difference. BRAVO for actually adding to the snow base!
I may return, but probably will hit another mountain. Moguls are just not my bag, baby! -

I came to Copper Mountain to visit an old college buddy from Santa Barbara who was hanging out in Denver. We booked accommodations at Copper Mountain for a few days of skiing.
Copper Mountain is horribly, horribly over priced. EVERYTHING was really expensive. This wouldn't be so bad if they did something to warrant that. The night we got in we were hungry, but there was absolutely no place to get something to eat after 10pm there.
The room quality was also poor and those really need to be updated.
I had fun, but that was in spite of Copper Mountain, not because of it. -

Copper is a very good mountain. There is something about the vastness around the ski mountain as well.
Copper has the highest mountain elevation of any ski resort in Colorado and is the largest overall mountain in Colorado.
For those sensitive to Altitude you may want to use caution when visiting copper. Copper is 9700 ft at the base of the mountain. Although I have not gotten altitude sickness there myself, I have seen many folks suffer from it. In fact my room mate almost died a few years ago while at copper and had to be air lifted to a Denver hospital. Not to scare ya just to caution ya.
Drink plenty of water to get your cells oxygenated.
Hope that Yelps -

Copper is easy to get to (not pesky passes to overcome) and easy to navigate. By that I mean that you can start the day on the A lift (yes I use the old lift designations as I can never remember the longer names) where the tougher runs are and move across the mountain (with the sun) and end up over at the Timberline and S lifts where the runs are easier.
I love everything about Copper, the people, the runs the food (not including the Double Diamond Restaurant - see review). What I love the most about Copper though is that it's not Vail. -

My friend had a season pass here and we were getting 6 inches of fresh powder so he and I headed up for a nice long day of boarding.
I had not been here in the past and had heard lots of mixed reviews.
I think the trick here is like every other place you ride: you have to have an inside man/track.
We ended up doing this loop that was blue/black & some green even toward the bottom... no line on the lift at all (it was Wednesday though) and all the fresh powder you could handle... each run was fresh with no tracks.
I like that their runs are not super long or super short.
I liked it so much I got myself a yearly pass. -

92 bucks for a day ticket, are you freaking kidding me?!
The skiing/amenities aren't all that bad, but really Copper Mountain people, are you the last to realize that we're in a Recession? -

I saw the Village People in concert here, and don't worry, it was a FREE concert... But for some reason after the show my boyfriend kept trying to slap men's tushi's... I just pretended like I didn't notice, ignorance is bliss.
Copper usually gets hit nice and hard when it snows.... For some reason because of where the mountain is, it gets good snow and thus is a fun place on this hard hit weekend mornings. Copper is a total resort ski area, and their marketing works hard with free concerts, demo days, performances, and parties galore. It is actually a fun place to catch a show in the summer too... as I described with the Village People.
Copper is not on the Colorado 5-pass, so it is usually not as crowded, but still has a steady flow of regulars who have their season passes and four-passes. What I like most about this mountain is the steepness of the runs as well as the backside of the mountain. The front side can get crowded and basically annoying, so chug your way to the back and throw your hands up in the air with a Y.M.C.A. and enjoy the not as crowded and steep runs.
* Star one for even thinking about hiring the village People... Who are these marketing people anyway?
** Me like free star two is for free handouts, like Powerbars, granola bars and other products I am always too cheap to buy
*** Summer fun star three is for being a fun destination place in the summer... With free concerts and big screen movies
**** Easy access star four is for being right off of the I-70 corridor... So easy and fast to get to and easy and fast to head home... but it can get crowded for the same reason
