This place is worth going to just because it's insane!  Rooms and rooms and rooms of hotel furniture crap.  Piles of old carpet and drapes!  Mirrors and pictures galore!  1,000,000 of the same type of TV armoires!

Everything is a bit outdated but this place is fantastic if you are creative.  I am sure someone who has the time, talent, and energy could turn some of their pieces into something fabulous.  And some of the items you could use as is.  I know that if I ever want a big mirror, I am coming here where I can get one for $20.

The price point on everything is very cheap and you can negotiate.  Considering they have a million of everything, supply and demand is in the customers' favor.

Definitely worth the trip, if not for the novelty of this crazy place alone.

Yes, this is a treasure-trove of insane used hotel furniture.

That said, most of it is crap. Cheap, bulk-made crap, often from the 80s. Yes, there are a few gems, especially if you need huge-ass curtains that you'll need to alter to fit anything resembling a normal window (or for anything else, really).

But their prices aren't that good, especially if you're not used to negotiating.

And the place is pretty disgusting. Never cleaned, I'm certain. Pigeons inside in places. It's an old high-rise warehouse, basically. So if it has to be said, CLEAN ANYTHING you buy here. It's drafty and cold and hard to tell where you're supposed to/allowed to/want to be to find the merchandise.

And no prices virtually anywhere, so you have to deal with someone to get even a ballpark on anything.

That said, I did walk away with a new (used) office chair after one guy gave me a quote, and the guy in charge berated him for starting so low. Not sure how much of that was an act, of course. Still, unless haggling is your thing and you enjoy cleaning and restoring old furniture/fabrics (one of those I enjoy more than the other), don't bother.

Used hotel furniture....OK I will try to be brief - not my strength.   The first floor and balcony in back of first floor are OK.  Check out if looking for used furniture, then check out Fort Pitt (same idea but cheaper pricing, I review it).  Plus there sounds like there's another Cooper location at 8240 S. Racine 773-483-9727 if the google info is right.

Not many prices are marked, so you have to go back to the lady by the entrance to ask, which is a buzz kill.  If you are just browsing, I'd say maybe stick to the 1st floor which they say "has a little of everything."

Upper floors- 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th floors:
-cold, like gee it's not even this cold outside should I be spooked cold :-)

-you have to use stairs (I believe they have a freight if you are buying?)

-various lighting from so-so to dim

-bring a flashlight and a friend and summon your inner Nancy Drew if you want and wait until it's warm out - and in

-no employees+dim+ cold+ dead pigeon in the stairwell= fun for Nancy Drew but not me or the other 2 women who banded together w/me

General:  I will say that for either place, if you can put/build some shelves and/or a pole for hanging stuff into the TV cabinet part you'd have a cool dresser/wardrobe combo.  Those double door TV cabinet/dresser things are all one piece and big, so that's not going to happen in my 3rd floor windy-stairs, what's-a-freight-elevator 1900's walkup.

This place was just OK, IMHO.  Not as good as Fort Pitt but probably worth a stop anyways.  I'll probably go back when I'm looking for stuff, but I may or may not get anything.

This place is amazing! Have you ever really wanted a nasty hotel/doctor's office painting of a really bad "color by numbers" dog, sunset, or vase of flowers??? YOU CAN GET THAT HERE!

You can also get mattresses, cheesy hotel quilts (hello porn set!), and side tables that are really sturdy.  I also got four cheap hotel "ballroom" chairs, if you know what I mean, which I took a part, painted and reupholstered because I'm crafty like that.

This place is pretty disorganized and the elevator is scary but it is so much fun.  Oh and awesome office chairs.  You can have your VERY OWN Hotel Porn Bedroom of your own if you want!

When I lived in Pilsen I would walk past this place regularly on my way to Skylark.

In my days as an undergraduate fashion student, I learned from a roommate studying interior architecture how to re-upholster furniture. This place is a great place to grab an inexpensive (albeit hideous) sofa to recover with a more contemporary fabric. I've bought things here, stripped, re-stained, and reupholstered- and ended up with furniture you'd pay hundreds, maybe a couple thousand dollars for.

The selection is vast, and somewhat intimidating. Expect to spend a few hours rummaging through the piles of random pieces. The vast majority of paintings are very dated and ugly, but the prices are so low it's worth it to simply toss the painting and keep the frame.

If you're creative and don't mind refurbishing old pieces, this is your Mecca. The furniture here, especially the seating, has 'good bones'. It's sturdy, well-made furniture- it just needs a little love to bring it from 'grandma' to urban chic.

I guess it would have been 5 stars had I walked out with something, but this place is surely worth the trip (even for a suburbanite).  This is all used Hotel furniture, mostly from nicer hotels.  If you are looking for bedroom furniture, this is the place for you.  Especially TV armiores, nightstands,  lamps, beds and chairs.
Plus - ARTWORK.  There were a couple intriguing chicago pieces, but mostly stuff bland enough to hang in a hotel.  If you're looking for frames, though...  there were also TONS of mirrors.
It's all poorly organized, so go if you have time to hunt.
I'd go back for lamps, great chairs, and hallway tables.

I got excited about this place after reading the reviews on here. The first floor has a few decent items--I considered a couple of lampshades but after going through the whole space decided it wasn't worth the transaction time.

Most of the furniture is generic, mid-quality, traditional American crap. MAYBE a couple chairs are worth reupholstering but I've seen more interesting shapes at GoodWill. If you're not within a short bus/car ride of this place don't bother. You're better off thrifting.

I guess my experience was marred by the fact that the fire department was leaving the store when i was entering, but it set a nice theme for the trip.

I have never seen a place that is less responsive to fire code. I waked in and thought that the other 4 floors would be like the first, lots of digging like in a flea market . When i got up to the second, i came to understand what the rest would be like--piles and piles of furniture. It was hard to tell what condition everything was in because you can't get to most of it, there is so much, and at some point i was afraid i would be crushed but 10 couches trying to look at a chair.

that being said, i might go back for a second look...it's sort of like a bad movie you want to watch again.

This place is a trip.  You can get some really great deals on anything from bad 60s artwork to a whole bedroom set.   Everything is very solid, but maybe a little worn.  Don't be afraid to barter with the sales guys, you can sometimes get them to come down on their price a good 20-50%.

This place was alright, I 've usually bought chairs here in the past, nothing else.  I came in here recently to get a small chair for my house and was shocked with the service.  I asked the man, who was obviously busier  watching TV., than could help me out.  Then when I told him what i wanted he told me to follow someone up the elevator to where we couldn't find shit.  At last after twenty minutes we found the same chair up stairs.  I tried to Jew him down on the price but he wasn't budging.  So I agreed on the price and pulled my truck around back to pick it up.  It wasn't until later, after we got home we noticed the chair had no legs!  I called him up from the number on the  receipt and he asked me "if I was sure"?  This may be anomaly because he was busy watching daytime television but, I never had service this bad here before.   It is worth it though but, remember to clean the shit after you buy it, it is hotel furniture after all

I am conflicted about this place - they do have a lot of crap and it is cheap, compared to new furniture at real stores, but I'm not so sure I want to sit on used hotel furniture. I saw that 20/20 episode. If you think of it as a huge, death trap, indoor flea market...  Worth a trip at least.
