I've always walked by this place and noticed that it's typically pretty busy every time I've passed it. Finally decided to try it out for an early brunch on a Saturday. We did not make a reservation ahead of time, but we also went right when it opened before the brunch rush in the city.
Food/Drinks:
- Green Juice: $10 is expensive, but I don't regret getting this because it was delicious, and I'm not going to be making a vegetable juice at home. The combination of the cucumber, apple, and ginger makes it refreshing.
- Baked Eggs: This was delicious! I requested that they make sure the yolks were still runny, and they were perfectly cooked. It does come with 3 eggs, but if you're looking for a hearty breakfast, then it might not be enough food for you as this is on the lighter side since it's basically eggs, salad, and a piece of toast.
- Cookshop Egg Sandwich: My friend really liked this, and it looked quite filling. The potato hash had a little kick to it, which I loved!
- Buttermilk-Cornmeal Pancakes: We ordered these to split after our respective entrees above, which was great as a sweet treat at the end of the meal. I don't think I could have finished the stack on my own if I had ordered it alone, so I'm glad that we split this. It was fluffy and delicious with the caramelized apples and whipped cream.
Service/Ambiance: Love the open and airy atmosphere. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It would be great during the warmer months to sit outside for people watching. The service was fast, attentive, and friendly.
Overall: I would def come back to try other options!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kenneth T.New York, NY2581523210Apr 13, 2024Updated review
Getting seated took a long time even though we had a reservation. It felt like we waited 10 min before being seated. The staff just kept talking amongst themselves and awkwardly looking at each other.
Food was OK. We had the mushrooms for appetizers which were good. For our entrees we did the seafood burger which tasted like chicken and had a weird texture; we also had the scallops which were good. The sides- we had the asparagus which were ok, the carrot slaw wasn't good, and the spring onions were greasy.
The time to get our food was extremely slow. The staff was also very slow. They kept checking on us when our food didn't even arrive yet so we had to ask them what happened to our orderHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 30, 2018Previous reviewThe food was decent but nothing to write home to mom about - I ordered the baked eggs. The eggs were ok but didn't taste seasoned. It came with bacon which was also baked on top of the eggs but the bacon needed more time - maybe cook the bacon separate and finish it with the eggs. My food also came with raisin bread which I wasn't too big of a fan of - think Ezekiel bread.
I'd come back if my friends wanted to but this wouldn't be my first choice.
PS: service was nice but a bit on the slow side - 125233Mar 15, 2024
I had lunch at Cookshop and the experience was outstanding. The waiter excelled in service, showing remarkable accommodation for our late-arriving sixth guest by ensuring their food was served quickly.
The Citrus Salad impressed me with its flavors, and the Baked Spaghetti was an exceptional dish.
Overall, the menu offers excellent choices that cater to diverse tastesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 106445711Mar 29, 2024
I would love to give this place five stars because ambiance and service were impeccable. However, portion size is small for the price and some of the flavors were not on point. The citrus salad, for $16, is hardly a salad and super small for the price. Flavor is there though. The tiny taquitos were $22 which is incredibly overpriced. And flavorless, unless you add the slaw. They should stand on their own. The mushroom sandwich was bomb, however. Great seasoning and plenty of shrooms. Fries were meh--crispy and plentiful but unseasoned.
Maybe the brunch menu is better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 6, 20241 check-in
A very hot spot for Brunch. I recommend making a reservation. It was so busy that the line for one of the four bathrooms was massive at the height of brunch time. The food is regular brunch menu items but with a bit of a twist that makes them seem healthier. For example grains&beans, baked eggs. As well as your guilty pleasures. They also had some different kinds of drinks aside from your usual juices that were healthy with things like turmeric, honey, fresh berries. Overall a good experience.

Wow. The food. The flavor. The experience.
Came here for brunch and I was not disappointed at all. If you are on the edge to brunch here, don't hesitate. Go here and order allllll the foods for brunch.
I did sample a lot from my table party and everything I tried was delish right down to the mimosas and the bloody Mary's.
Service was fast and very friendly. No issues. We say outside and while
It was cold, the area was slightly enclosed and there was adequate heaters on to keep everyone nice and warm on the inside.
A bit on the pricey end but well well worth it. The quality of food you get is top notch the Huevos Rancheros was ammmmmazing.
This is the brunch spot. Make no mistake.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 23, 2023
It's a nice environment for lunch/ brunch... very spacious inside, and lots of outdoor dining. Food is reasonably priced for the area.
I felt that the food itself was fairly mediocre. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was definitely below average versus the Mexican joints from which I used to order this in Cali. Way too much beans, and not enough chips. I did like the heavy cilantro though.
I also tried some of the burger, which I really did not enjoy (and I am a burger person). Was fairly plain, and the pattie itself just wasn't that tasty. The fries were really good though. Was too expensive given the flavor.
I don't think I'd return, unless I was looking for a relaxing place to eat, as opposed to good food.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 1 - 156228487Jul 13, 2023
Came to the Cookshop while my sister and her husband were visiting; they had something for everyone when I looked at the menu.
We had made a reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant we were sat immediately.
The service was great throughout our visit and the bartender went out of their way to make a special drink for my brother in law.
Here is a breakdown of what we ordered:
- HUEVOS RANCHEROS (me and my brother in law had the Huevos Rancheros) really very tasty and would highly recommend.
- DEVILED EGGS (shared) so good! I appreciate all of the filling!
- BUTTERMILK-CORNMEAL PANCAKES (my sister ordered the pancakes) she and I agreed that they were not the best.
- BEIGNETS (shared) not a beignet, but more of a donut (tasty for sure, but want to set the right expectations)
The Ambiance is very chic and I love how open the restaurant is in general.
I would definitely revisit the Cookshop in the future as there are many menu items I would like to try.
Thanks for a great brunch!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anna K.Brooklyn, NY725092Nov 27, 2023Updated review

absolutely great for a lunch date!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Jan 31, 2023Previous reviewAwesome restaurant in Chelsea! We reserved a table for two on Monday at 1pm before the day and it was easy to choose the table at that time. I heard usually brunch time is very crowded. Waitress lady was so nice and friendly. I was going for famous Bloody Mary but wasn't that on a menu that moment. She said only Brunch time menu but they can make it :)
The Bloody Mary Mix was excellent! Very fresh! Just for beer lovers, there was no draft beer. A can IPA beer for my boyfriend.
We ordered Cookshop burger with Fries! Was so so good! Nice amount. We couldn't stop our hands...honestly. Meat quality,Soft and fresh buns, nice and savory a bit pricey but worth it! We'll def come back for sure.
