5 reviews for Contos Pizza
Ok, I will first say that I make the best spaghetti sauce (and yes, I'm humble too.) I'm very hesitant to order spaghetti in restaurants because it just leaves me wanting to come home and have some GOOD spaghetti. However...
Contos makes some awesome spaghetti! Don't order it if you don't like cheese though, or be sure to ask them to leave it off or something. It's super delicious! Actually, everything I've had there is top notch.
It doesn't look like it from the outside, but it's actually a nice restaurant inside. You can dress casual, but it would be a good place to go for an anniversary or birthday as well. They have a full bar, and while I haven't ordered any cocktails there yet, they have some that look interesting.
I have ordered: gyro, fettucini, various appetizers, spaghetti, and ravioli. None have disappointed me or my husband.
I had to choose between the $ and the $$ option here, but they really span both of them. You can get sandwiches in the $ range, or pastas in the $$ range. I haven't tried their pizzas, but they look good.
Oh, and unlike the previous reviewer, I LOVE that they use iceberg lettuce for their salads instead of "weeds!" Their salads are always cold and crisp and don't have any funky stuff on or in them. Yay for normalcy!
Contos is decent. They do get an A+ for great service. I do wish though that they had more Greek options. I have never been a fan of Greek influenced Italian, but Contos is the best that I have been to. I know it is not a Greek restaurant, but some of the items on the menu, and the kitchen staff....this place is run by Greeks. And in my opinion we do not have enough great Greek places in the north end. The pasta is better than the pizza in my opinion.
We love going to Contos and usually go about every two weeks. The service is great and so are the portions.
Live nearby, and this place was highly recommended by locals. Not an extreme fan, myself. A little overpriced and poor service. You WILL wait a long time if there is even one other party waiting in front of you, and the wait staff will completely ignore you until they have an open table. There are several teenagers waiting tables and manning the front...and they have just the lack of customer service skills that would be expected of teenagers. The food is incredibly greasy (want more cheese with that cheese?), but that's usually what people want from Italian food: seriously cheesy and rich. Salads are half mozzarella cheese. Sound like your kind of place? Go for it!
Looking for some delicious Italian? You should definitely give this place a try. Ok, I must admit I have only had their manicotti, but I've had it about 12 times in the last few months. It is just so dang good I haven't been able to convince myself to have anything else when I go there. I have had bites of other peoples dishes & they were equally delish. The only complaint I have is that they serve iceberg lettuce in their salads - and really, is that anything to complain about? I think not, especially given the fact that they will happily substitute mixed greens upon request. Prices are very reasonable at under $15 for most dishes so give 'em a try & see what you think.
