Some idiot smashed into my bumper, so I took the car into Consumers. They gave me a quick quote, I set up an appointment, took the car in and they did it exactly in the time they estimated.
A few weeks later I noticed the bumper falling down on the side it was hit so I took it back in. They said the bracket was bent. Seems like that should've been noticed and fixed when they replaced the bumper. They quickly glued the bumper back on, but didn't correct the bent bracket.
Customer service has been good and it looks like the bumper will be okay, but ideally would've been fixed the first time.

I went to Consumer based on YELP and I was not disappointed. Rob and his crew gave me immediate attention despite the fact that they had other cars in their garage. My car, which had the ignition tampered with and broken, was quickly diagnosed and started. Rob replaced the ignition and all the other loose end that the burglar had messed with. After leaving my car there for work, Rob called me about a possible extra part that he might have to install for $400....I thought "fleecing?". But it turns out that the crew did not have to install the part again and Rob called me right away to tell me the good news. I thought it was slightly strange that he asked me to pay in cash, but he gave me a full receipt and the price he quoted me was higher than what I ended up paying...so I thought it was cool. Overall, great service from friendly owner who keeps the costumer well informed.

Rob & his crew have done great work for me on 3 out of 3 occasions. Dings and nicks are inevitable in San Francisco and it sure is nice to have your car looking its best when he is through. Even nicer to not get any nasty surprises when all is said and done as well. Great location at 20th and Valencia works really well too.
After stupidly backing my brand new car into a sign post (d'oh!) I took it to Rob Song's auto body shop and had a completely hassle-free experience. The car looks brand new (again!) and they even waxed my tires! Highly recommended! Thanks, Rob!!

My car door was jammed and would'nt open ...Rob fixed it. Then the electric window motor burned out while it was in his shop, and he fixed it paying for it out of pocket. An honest good mechanic that stands by his work. He even washed my car for me! thanks Rob...
My wife and I were hit on the side at a 3 way stop by a reckless teenager apparently distracted with other things more important than paying attention to the road, especially right in front of you. The owner, Rob Song, was very helpful and informative in explaining our options and typical procedures insurance companies undergo after an accident. I needed a place to store my car since I don't live in SF and Rob assured me he wouldn't charge any storage fees since I wasn't at-fault. He took care of us by calling up a rental car agency and referring us to a lawyer. I still had personal belongings to pick up and he stayed open 2 hours past closing to accommodate me. It was only supposed to take 30 min to an hour but we were stuck in heavy traffic. When I arrived, I needed to remove my license plate frame and a base decal. He did the work for me without asking him to. Little details like these make a difference and build a strong customer relationship. In the meantime, I was looking for used cars on craigslist while waiting for the other driver's insurance company to process the claim. There was a Civic that was overpriced considering the roof of the car was rusted. I called Rob up and gave him the link to get an estimate. He not only gave me an estimate but advised me that he had the same exact car (year, model, and color) and he was willing to sell it to me at a reasonable price (below KBB, within range of NADA, and above Edmund's TMV). He went above and beyond and payed for a mechanic to perform a vehicle inspection. There were only minor things discovered which he offered to fix out of pocket. I didn't get any body work done since my car was considered a total loss but I would definitely bring my car back here given the level of customer service. You can shop around for the best prices but quality and customer service don't come cheap.

I was dubious at first when Rob asked me to sign over the insurance check. Pay for the work before it's finished? Doesn't sound like a good idea. But not only did the crew do a great job (replacing a fender, repairing a dent), but they did it on time. And Rob handled all the communication with the insurance company, kept me updated, and then, when it turned out that the insurance check was supposed to have included payment for my rental car, quickly cut me a check. It was like doing business with a friend -- a friend who's very good at his job.

While I use Yelp a lot, I've never reviewed anything and never had an account, until now.
I created a Yelp account to specifically write a review for Consumer Auto Body. They did an excellent (and "excellent" is an understatement) job on my 95' red Honda Civic. They fixed my crooked hood, smashed fender, broken headlights and spray painted my car.
I was speechless, my jaw literally dropped, when I collected my car at the body shop. It looked new and way better than it did before the accident.
Rob, who manages Consumer Auto Body, is very trustworthy. The last thing, anyone with a damaged car wants is a shady mechanic from the body shop. You won't have to deal with unscrupulous mechanics if you come here.
Rob took care of all the hassle and insurance paperwork. Thank you, thank you!

Considering the stereotypes for what body shops are supposed to be like (at least where I come from), Rob's Consumer Auto Body & Repair Shop is amazing! Rob is great to work with, straightforward, and friendly. I've had work done at his shop twice, while living in San Francisco for the summer (chalk it up to a parking-challenged roommate). Both times all of the available options were thoroughly explained to me (depending on whether payment would be through insurance or out-of-pocket). Additionally, Rob was helpful in navigating the treacherous world of auto insurance claims. His shop is timely, and he spot-on delivers what he promises.
I can't say enough good things about the guys at Consumer Auto Body.
I'll spare you the drama of my particular situation, but here's the gist: My baby Del Sol was smashed in by a hit & run driver a few weeks back -- damaged to the tune of nearly deeming the car 'totaled'.
I brought it to Rob at CAB, and he was supremely helpful every step of the way: presented me with various options for fixing it (depending on my budget), gave me advice for dealing with the police and insurance, kept me up to date on the car's status, was supremely flexible in putting up with the ever-changing insurance situation, and -- this is most important -- did a *fantastic* job with my car.
When I went to pick it up last week, I was reminded again why I love my car so much. It looked *that* good -- you literally wouldn't be able to tell by looking at it that someone had smashed its side in. It drives just beautifully, exactly as before.
Suffice it to say that, while I most certainly hope I'll never be in another car accident, if it ever happens again I won't think twice about bringing my car right back to this place. Five stars, all the way.

These guys did $800 extra of work - for free - on our battered Subaru that had been run into on the street here in SF after being attacked by wave after wave of drunken city college kids in Santa Barbara. And they kicked in for a rental car, although that probably had something to do with the fact that we were also getting a new clutch from SF Auto Works, the repair shop up the street (which is also a fine establishment). If 800 smackers of free stuff doesn't get you five stars, I don't know what does - if they'd thrown in some hubcaps I would've had to give them six!
Also, something to remember: if you're getting a rear bumper replaced - don't forget to peel the parking sticker off of it first. It comes off in pieces but even that will help when you go to get a new one from the city.

I used these guys to fix a dent on my new car. They did a great job....dealt with all the Insurance paperwork smoothly + they were accommodating re: pickup times and my work schedule.
I highly recommend Consumer Auto Body Repairs. They did a fantastic job on my car, helped me with the insurance, and did extra work to make the car look as good as new. They even put on new hubcaps and cleaned and armouraled my car before giving it back to me. They also finished my car in the amount of time they said they would. I had my car back to me by the next week. KUDOS!

Gotta love these guys! Came in on a Sunday to get an estimate, was able to drop my truck off the next day, and ended up paying $150 less than their estimate (how often does _that_ happen?) They also fixed a few extra things for free.
This really is the hands-down the best auto body shop in the bay area.
I simply showed up at Rob's shop based on the stellar reviews here (and because the first one I read was a woman who had done the same numbskull thing as me--driven my brand new car into a pole and needed immediate help!)
And I actually came all the way from Alameda because Yelp people loved this shop so much.
They were right.
This is without a doubt the most honest , forthright and fair auto business I've ever found in 25 years of living in the Bay Area. Rob fixed my damage promptly, gave me a very reasonable estimate, and was incredibly kind and courteous throughout the process. The work was
impeccably done and he even included a detailing, wash and wax job at the end.
If only all businesses were run with the consummate good energy of this spot, life in the bay area would be stress-free. Until that happens, at least know there is an absolutely perfect spot to bring your car the next time you have a fender-bender.
I honestly can't recommend highly enough that you bring your auto body business here It was such a good experience I didn't even mind blowing six months of sushi money to get the car fixed because it's the kind of business you just feel good supporting.
That really says something.

I went to Consumer Auto Body rather than the "preferred" shops recommended by the insurance company solely on the strength of the reviews I read here, and I was not disappointed.
Rob's an intelligent competent guy and working out the details between the shop and the insurance company was not a problem at all. I picked up my BMW today and the job looks impeccable. A very pleasant experience all round. Highly recommended!
(And as an added bonus, you can go get a cup of coffee at Ritual just down the street...)
Initially, I went there to fix a dent and scratches caused by a small accident but Rob was very honest and recommended not fixing the scratches after telling him my situation. Instead, I asked them to fix a small bent that the previous owner made and that had been bothering me. Rob gave me a very good discount after learning the work would not be covered by my insurance. They did a great job. I cannot tell where the bent was. They cleaned my tires too and gave me a surprise gift. I was impressed. I will go back when I need a body repair.
Comsumer Auto Body does nice work. They were accurate on the estimate and got the car back in a timely fashion. They even gave it a wash. Good Job.
