This was stop #1 when we rolled into town just to get our feet wet before dinner. What a find! Off the main street, this is a little gem! Their Orange Muscat was so different and wonderful I had to have a bottle-actually bought two! Their Cabernet Sauvignon-the Villa Mt. Eden name-is delicious along with the Cab Franc which I am still holding on opening waiting for a special occasion. Really, all their wines are quite great and you really can't go wrong stopping in and checking them out.
Their tasting room has a really unique set up where the bar is shaped in a U. The staff is very friendly and helpful-especially since it was our first stop!!
First, an admission: I DESTROYED myself at this winery. They pour A LOT of wines, and my approach is, if you pour it, I'll drink it. Plus, this was near the end of the day, so I was already buzzing when I walked it. I'd like to be able to say I remember a lot of details about their wine. I'd like to be able to say I remember a lot of details about their service. I'd like to be able to say I remember their tasting room. I'd like to be able to say I've made more money than I can spend in two lifetimes. But none of that is true.
What is true is that I vaguely remember the wine being pretty good and pretty cheap. I remember the staff pouring a seemingly endless amount of it into a glass that I then poured into my body. I don't remember much else about that afternoon. Which probably means I had a good time.

A friendly little winery with a large tasting list. The staff was friendly. I definitely preferred their whites over their reds. I walked away with a great bottle organge muscat.
Do yourself a favor and sign up for the email subscription and print out the free tasting voucher, thats the hook up. You'll be able to taste about 6 different varietals, about 2 of them being good.
The conn creek cabernet is in my opinion one really good cab for under $20. You'll be able to try the anthology which is another one of my favorites.
the winery itself is kind of located in the boondocks and doesn't get that much foot traffic the way the wineries do on st. helena hwy but for a free tasting wouldn't you make the drive?

I have to admit to having a slightly biased experience. I knew one of the pourers here and so I got to go through a lot of different tastings for free along with getting a bit of an inside scoop.
Anyway, I honestly find their wines to be a bit meh, but their orange muscat was quite good.

Conn Creek is SUCH a find. They pour about 10 wines and I've had a great time whenever I've been, and have walked away with delicious and reasonably-priced wines each time -- great Zin, buttery & butterscotchy cabs, etc. There is a British (?) woman who has done our tastings who is knoweldgable and welcoming. Ask them nicely to open up and pour their pinot if it's not in the rotation.
We went to this winery with very low expectation. We had some coupons on which we were supposed to do some sign up. But the hostess was so wonderful, that she forego us on that account and took that info on paper. Then she introduced us to a minimum of 12 wines...this place offers the most number of tastings.
The wine is distinct...white wine has it taste of crispiness and red is less fruity. The special is the orange muscato. We bought a couple of bottles from here...
Update...Aug 28'07...went back, and it is still awesome. People just love the orange muscat. And some like the Anthology. So 1 more star from me.
Conn Creek is one of those odd wineries that I really enjoy visiting, but I've never tasted anything that I loved enough to buy. The pourers here are super friendly, and they'll tell you a lot about the wines if you ask. You taste 10 wines for $10, which is a pretty good deal compared to some of the wineries. And the wines themselves are very good - just nothing remarkable (though if I had $50 to kill, I'd probably bring home the Anthology). Only downside is I've been there a few times when it was really empty - once when we were the only ones there.
Pretty good overall. Nothing terribly memorable / worth seeking out about it, but worth checking out if you'd like to try someplace new in the area.
