I knew they would have pocket protectors!!! Only standard white vinyl with flap available, comes in a pack of three.
Also, great selection of Moleskin planners.
LOVE this place! these types of small office supply stores are difficult to come by! this is a rare gem. i appreciate that they feature a collection of RHODIA products and have a nice selection of pens and refills. their pricing is decent too.
This is an update - I have decided to bump them up a star because of the woman (previously mentioned) who works there.
I went in to procure some sort of kitchen recipe book/box/holder contraption, and the woman led me straight to what I was looking for (deterring me from the much more expensive line of day planners I had been eyeing prior) and even told me she would order me refills for the plastic sleeves that go in the book.
The reason I love this place so much is because well... there's a good deal of space, already mentioned, and the customer service is absolutely phenomenal. This woman will do everything in her power to make sure you have a positive experience there, which is dedication.
It never gets busy here, which makes me sad for them. They seriously have a ridiculous amount of office supplies here and it's not over priced. I don't think many people know that they're here.
Worth a visit.

OK, so my office is within walking distance to Congdon & Chrome. One of the higher ups pretty much… Read more »
I love this store. It's been in Palo Alto forever, and the owners really take pride in offering merchandise that is impossible to find at Office Depot. I just went in today and bought pens and envelopes that I was unable to find at OD.
Congdon & Crome is all about what downtown Palo Alto used to be--quality and customer service. Support your local merchants!
I like this place because it is large and has a very nice selection to browse over. Whatever you're looking for in the writing world, you can probably find it here. Pens, paper, journals, etc. It's a scribophile's paradise.
The service is a little lack luster, the guy at the counter seems like he could give a rat's ass whether or not you find what you're looking for. If you can handle poking about a little, then you'll be OK.
Excellent place to pick up basic office supplies at reasonable prices.
I love functional, efficient, well designed office supplies. I was lured in here by the display window packed with useful objects - office supply heaven. I went to Village Stationers, but didn't end up buying anything - it felt expensive and frou frou. I got almost exactly what I was looking for at Congdon & Chrome for a reasonable price. I think they may have had some of these same objects at Village Stationers, and the ones they had were slightly more expensive. In my view office supplies are usually things that we end up buying a lot of - because life is complicated and we have a lot of papers and stuff. So sell me individual objects for low prices (loose pets, file folders, plastic envelopes etc) and I will be back for more later...
The selection ranges from good quality mid-range stuff to higher end stuff like notebooks from Rhodia, Clairefontaine etc.
They also have a nice selection of fine pens (fountain pens from numerous makers etc), and they appeared to have great customer service.
One thing they didn't have much/any of was art supplies. This is a very functionally oriented office store.
After another visit....
For basics like pens I've found them very expensive. If you work on University Ave and need a single pen - this is the store to go to. If not, you can get the same pens for much cheaper in 2 or 3 packs at Target or Fry's. On University Ave, Longs Drugs has reasonable prices for pens.
They do have a nice selection of fine fountain pens and such that you won't find at many other stores. Probably a good place for a gift for a pen lover.
This store never seems to be very busy, I don't know how they stay in business. They use to be located on University Ave and seemed busier back then. Some of their inventory looks old, like yellow with age old. And the customer service has a lot to be desired. I only come here as a last resort.
