Honestly, it takes a lot for me to go to a salon and take care of my long hair.
That's why when my wedding day was approaching I was in trouble! I called different places... most charged as much for just a preview of a look as my little dress had cost me :l Thankfully Conexion Salon was recommended to me by my husband.
At the salon, Angie took care of me first by listening to my likes in hair style, then looking through some choices, and finally doing a sample of both a hairstyle and makeup.
My experience at the salon was great- the entire staff is very friendly and professional. The day of my wedding Angie was there earlier than opening time. I was late but she still had time to do an outstanding job, and we even changed the style! She did my makeup and I was ready to go :) looking great for my special day! The pricing is very reasonable and overall I was more than satisfied- thank you Angie!
I saw how many services they offer here- from waxing to relaxing massages and all hair services... I can't wait to go back and do something to my hair =D -

FANTASTIC!! It honestly doesn't get better than this I would give them more stars if I could. The staff is very friendly, attentive and proffesional. I've been going to Margarita for years now and everytime I visit I leave very satisfied. I've gotten hair cut, color, waxing, and facials at Conexion and each experience was phenomenal!!!
Thanks Conexion Keep up the great work! -

Another great cut and color from Conexion! It's amazing! I was previously convinced that I could get one, possibly two, great appointments at a salon before it would all go downhill and I would get butchered. As a result, it seemed like I was constantly jumping ship and trying to find someplace new. Well, I've been going to Conexion for not quite a year, and each time it just gets better and better.
Anna is a genius with color. Seriously, every single time she gives me exactly what I want, even if I feel like I am being completely inarticulate in describing it. I've had her do overall color, highlights, lowlights, you name it, and every time I am happier than the last. Her cuts are also very precise and well done, and she gets my hair silky smooth and straight as glass with the blow dryer. LOVE!
This last time I got my hair cut, a deep conditioning treatment, highlighted and blown out for $110 before tip. WOW!
I've never had my nails done, a massage or any other service at Conexion, but I noticed some really suave looking pedicure chairs there last time, so I might just have to try it out. -

Wow, I had a great experience here today! Being Italian my eyebrows can go from looking okay to bordering dangerously on a unibrow quickly --today was one of those days. I called to see how fast they could get me in for a wax and I was told right away. They made me feel welcome from the second I walked in the door. It was raining and when I almost slipped on the floor the owner himself came over to put out a floor mat and make sure I had a place to hang up my umbrella.
Angie did my brows and she was great. I have been getting my eyebrows waxed for 11 years and this was my most painless wax ever. She also showed me exactly the shape she was going to make and explained to me every step of the process. I think this would be nice for someone who was getting their brows done for the first time.
On the way out I decided that I also needed to get my bangs cut and they sat me right down and did them perfectly. I actually didn't get the name of the girl who cut my bangs but she was very friendly and professional as well.
The best part was the price. Brows were only $15 and my bang trim was $5! I am looking forward to going back and trying the rest of their services. -

I just moved to Chicago, and live pretty close to this place, so I decided to try it out. When I got there, they were ready for me, which is always nice. The girl who was working as the receptionist was the same girl who did my shampoo. She was sweet, but a bit rough. I'm not tender headed at all--I am a camp counselor and am used to having 8 year old girls try to "do my hair" for fun. She was fun to talk to, but I felt like she wasn't really paying too much attention to my head.
So now we come to the haircut. Margarita cut my hair, and she was sweet. The hair cut I ended up with was ok, nothing too amazing. I sort of felt like there was a little language barrier, as if she was having trouble understanding what I wanted, but she tried very hard, so I really appreciated that.
It was decent, but I probably won't return. -

I'm driving around lakeview looking for someplace that will be quick, clean, reasonably priced, with nearby parking for a last minute lip waxing. Conexion was all these things.
I walked in, asked for a wax, filled out a form, and was in the back in under 2 minutes. This was the first place I've been that asks about your skin before a waxing. They really care about you and obviously don't want you to have a bad reaction.
They had me lay on a table in the back and propped me up with pillows. She used a pre-wax cleaning thing, quickly yanked off my mustache, used a gel to remove the extra wax, aloe to sooth the skin, and a cold light-bulb thingy (though I'm sure that's not what it was) to calm the skin.
I'm sure I was in and out in less than 10minutes. You can pay with cards, but tips must be cash. The place was really nice and the people are friendly. I'm giving it 4 stars, not 5 because I don't know what their hair cutting is like. -

This place was so great, it made me finally sign up for a Yelp account so I could review it.
I called about an hour ago to schedule an appointment for an eyebrow wax, and since I just live down the street, I was able to come in immediately and get it over with.
I walked in and was greeted by name upon entering-- total plus for politeness. They even offered a cup of water.
The eyebrow shape and attention to detail that I got with the wax was top notch and better than what other salons charge twice as much for. It was $15!
They were installing new pedicure chairs while I was there, so I'm excited to come back and give those a try. -

I've found my new salon.
I was fully expecting to try a few places and then settle on one, but I hit the jackpot on the first try. I walked into Conexion a frizzy brunette with split ends, and walked out a sleek redhead.
Ana did my cut/color/style, and she did a perfectly brilliant job. She cut off only the half inch or so of split ends - such a relief not to lose 4 inches of hair when I just wanted a trim! - and fixed my growing-out bangs. I initially wanted a brighter orange-y red, but she pointed out a darker shade that worked much better with my skin tone and looked less cartoon-y than the other shade would have. She also managed to turn my usually frizzy hair perfectly flat without using an iron.
The entire walk home, I was That Girl who stops in front of every window to check out her hair.
I will ABSOLUTELY be back. -

I just moved to Roscoe Village and needed to find a waxing location. After reading many reviews on YELP I chose Conexion- big mistake. It was not clean and I was in pain- for many days after. Stay away!

Yay, finally found a salon that I like and that doesn't charge a ton for a haircut.
I was able to make an evening appointment with one day notice. I came in with a picture and Margarita took extra time to make sure she was giving me the exact cut I wanted. I'm getting so many compliments on my hair today!
I was a fan of some *other* place in Roscoe Village but at Conexion, I pay the same price for a haircut, get my hair washed and don't feel rushed. -

Can't beat the friendly staff and wonderful prices for services at this salon. I've been all over North Center looking for someone to cut my hair and wax my eyebrows the way I like them done and Josie and Angie are some of the nicest and most talented stylists around. They're always accommidating to my schedule as it's always changing and can always find a time that works for me (even if I call the same day - which is usually the case). They give you discounts if you refer your friends (but this isn't the reason I do it, it's because I really think they're an amazing salon). And I've definitely told all my friends about them.

My cousin and myself went here for a prewedding manicure. My cousin made an appointment for the two of us. We show up, only 1 manicurist.
It took 2.5 hours for both of us to get a manicure/pedicure, because there was only one manicurist and she had to do both of us individually. Had we been walk ins, obviously they wouldn't have known 2 of us would have been coming in and it would have been fine. However, they DID know, didn't do anything about it and it took an extremely long time.
The job the manicurist did was fine enough, but I'm not sure I would go back. -

So everyone here is really nice and they make every effort to accommodate your needs, but I don't feel like they have a whole lot of experience.
On the plus side they are VERY meticulous with your hair and take the time to talk to you about it and explain everything. The girl who cut my hair was incredibly sweet and my hair turned out fine. It's not stuffy and super trendy at all and you will definitely feel comfortable here.
I tried this place because it's walking distance to my house but I probably wouldn't go back unless I desperately needed an inexpensive haircut.
The eyebrow wax was also fine but I've had better for the same price. Bonus points for the lady because she acted like she really cared about my brows and how I took care of them.
If you're looking for a reasonably priced, nice, clean salon with an inviting atmosphere and really nice employees, then go here. -

For me, this is the type of salon where you feel uncomfortable from the get-go. I have been here twice and both times were unfavorable. I received a gift card for my birthday and originally went in for a mani/pedi which took about 3.5 hours! It was a good mani/pedi but who has that much time to spend in a salon making idle chit chat and hoping your nails are instantaneously dry so you could leave immediately following the last brush stroke!
I still had money left on the gift card so I "HAD" to go back for something so I needed a pedi and once again was thoroughly disappointed. This time, a different nail tech, performed my pedicure but it was done too hastily. It was like she didn't know how to do a pedicure or just didn't want to do the hard stuff. That's why I pay for pedis - so someone else could scrub off the dead skin off my heels! She seriously used the wrong side of the foot scrubber thing. She cut my nails but did not file or shape them! I could have done the same thing but better at home with my pedi egg. I get home and look at my toes closer and notice there is polish outside of my nails and on my skin! Ugh... Not to mention, it was $30! Way too overpriced for a pedicure of that quality. If I pay $30 for a pedi, I at least expect a massage chair and a thorough scrub! The chair was pretty uncomfortable btw. Then when I checked out it was like the 2 ladies at the counter were zombies and not understanding anything i said! Needless to say, I will not return to Conexion or recommend it. -

Closer to 4.5. The owner was a wonderful lady and stylist. I had grown soooooo tired of Big Hair and thought I'd give this neighborhood joint a try. Margarita was a great listener and she's very astute. I'll definitely be back!!!

Just got my eyebrows waxed here (really, like 45 minutes ago) by Angie, and they turned out so beautifully! It was one of the most perfect brow waxes I've ever had. She took her time doing it, explained each step of the process, and the final result was flawless and stylish. I'm so happy! I think $15 is a very reasonable price for what you get here. I'm certain to go back the next time I need my brows waxed!

I am in love with this place. I was a little weary at first because no one was in, which... come to think of it was great. I was seated immediately. Angie cut my hair and styled it. OH man I was in love! My hair looked great and it didn't have that stiff look. It was great. I'm definitely going back! You can't beat a haircut under 40 dollars too. I was actually expecting more.

Margarita washed, cut, and styled my hair. She was very thorough, cautious, and did a good job.
At $30, I got a much better cut than I paid for. -

My long, straight, one length hair needed a trim badly, so I took to yelp to find a place in the Roscoe Village area where I could get a cut without paying $50 plus dollars for someone to trim off my ends.
The place was empty when I got there, which was a little concerning, but on the plus side, I got in right away. During my "consultation" (AKA, me telling them to cut off as little as possible) my stylist asked me if I wanted my hair washed, which seemed odd. This isn't Supercuts....I thought it was an given that a hair cut comes with a wash. (Strange moment #1)
While I'm getting my hair washed the stylist asked me if I want him to use conditioner......Do people actually just use shampoo? And if so, isn't it a job of a professional stylist to teach them better than that? (Strange moment #2)
So after he gave me a trim (only about 1 inch, good work!) my stylist starts to blow dry my hair. About halfway through he stops to take a break because he is hot and tired....I mean I know I have thick hair but come on! So after drying it to about 75% he asks me if that is fine, he is sure the rest will dry on its own. (Strange moment #3)
After all of the strangeness that has happened so far (asking to wash my hair, asking about conditioner, not fulling drying my hair) I'm ready to go. I say it is fine and pull it back in a pony tail and head out in the the January weather. Sure I usually restyle my hair when I get home from an appointment, but I at least what they stylist to make an attempt, and not send me out in the cold to freeze my brain off.
So I left feeling unsatisfied, yeah it was only $35, but for that price I expect some conditioner, without having to ask for it, and a full blow dry.
On the plus side, when I got home and restyled my hair, the cut actually looks nice and he stood by his word and only took off the ends.
I won't be back, but I did the haircut I desperately needed. -

Went here for a haircut in December because it had good reviews and was reasonably priced. Margarita is great! I got the last appt of the day and they didn't rush me out even though i was there for about 15 minutes past close while she was finishing blow drying my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she wanted to clarify and see some more views so she actually looked up the celebrity on her computer and we looked at some other pictures. She then proceeded to do exactly what I asked for! It was great! I would recommend to anyone and it doesn't take a long time to get an evening appt!

Back story: I had two major issues going on with my hair...First one was an allergic reaction to a medication that made a good 60% of my hair fall out. Second was a HORRID color and cut from Ulta that made me look as if I had even less hair. It was shocking how bad my hair looked and felt...After being robbed of over $300 at Ulta, I was a bit cash poor and definitely wary of hair stylists...until Margarita. She really looked at my scalp and hair and told me what I could do to make my hair more healthy and look fuller...she made sure during the entire cutting process to let me know what was going on and make sure I was ok with what was being done. The result? AMAZING. I am serious, I didnt think anything but a short Dorothy Hamill bob was possible, but she did it. Not only does my hair look adorable to me, but I have gotten compliments out in the wild from perfect strangers! That is a 100% turn around...all for only 35 dollars! Thank you Margarita!

I visited Conexion again tonight after Margarita generously offered a free color service after the misunderstanding we had about my last experience. I was completely satisfied this time around, and I guess I was confused about the last time I was in there. They said they took 10 dollars off of my price because of the mistake, but I thought I was getting 10 dollars off because it was their Thursday special at the time. Now that that is all cleared up and I had a positive experience tonight, I would certainly recommend Conexion to a friend!

I wanted to update my rating of Conexion because I was contacted by the owner of the store and she issued an apology for my experience. It really impressed me and I like to see businesses who take the extra step to keep their customers happy. I really feel as though I may have just gone on a off day-and everyone has those. I will definitely go back to this place and give it a second chance.
