The ER at this hospital is terrible. When you visit their ER, expect to wait at least one hour to be seen by a nurse. The staff at the New Pediatric ER are very rude. But I did like that we only had to wait about 15 min to be admitted into the Pediatric ER. Their ER could use some improvement.

As a volunteer here I can personally account for the amazingly warm atmosphere and great ambiance of the entire hospital. The staff is extremely friendly (even to a new volunteer), the cafeteria food is pretty good, the remodeling and construction that has been going on has left the hospital looking beautiful (note the waterfall feature at the main entrance - little kids love playing in the water), and the private patient rooms in east 2 and the new life center are better looking than some hotel spots. For those of you wanting the insider information from a volunteer -- you can find free coffee and hot water (for tea and hot chocolate - if you're lucky) on the third floor, up the stairs form the main entrance, in the GI waiting lounge - the chairs are pretty comfy there too and you can snag a good place in front of a TV. There's also a little known library, with its own fireplace and everything, tucked away in the heart of the New Life center, but it's difficult getting in without certification. And finally, in the depths of the lower level, off of the C elevators, you can find an amazing array of vending machines around the corner from the cafeteria !
