We stayed here back in October when I went home (Boston) because we got a excellent rate (Historical Hotels of America employee rate) we stayed out in a Cottage which was a bit spooky but it worked and it had a large kitchen a separate room with 2 twin beds PERFECT for a family and the main bedroom had a four poster queen size bed that sit in what used to be a living room I am guessing.  This cottage is a duplex and we stayed on the lower level so we could hear our neighbors above us periodically through the night.

The cottage is away from the main building so keep this in mind if you are staying during the cold winter months. The restaurant does not have room service so you can buy what you like as a "take out" and bring it back to your room. I would say overall I liked the location and it sits in a quaint town that has delightful restaurants which you can walk to if you do not wish to eat at the inn. It was hard to find due to directions given on mapquest so I would suggest going to either the Inn website for directions or Google maps.

The pub has a live band in on some evenings so if making reservations be sure to ask where your room is located in regards to where the pub is.

Respectfully Reviewed

I had the pleasure of stoppin' in at The Concord Inn on a few occasions now ... once for one of my best friend's weddings, a great venue for his reception ... everyone had a fantastic time, perfect ... another few times I met up with coworkers to have drinks and talk shop ... there was an open mike goin' on in the background, a bit loud for our purposes on that evening, but still ... a fantastic spot to convene and have a few cocktails, just mysterious enough, too, to feel alone in the crowd ( so to speak ) ...

Many years ago I had also stopped into The Concord Inn to see my good friend Marcel Kopp perform a smattering of his internationally renowned poems. I have many incredible memories surrounding this particular performance, many of which bring back happy nostalgic feelings the might have nothing to do whatsoever with food, drink, the restaurant industry or customer service.

I guess I would say The Concord Inn gives off the impression of being timeless, historical yet earthy, a great place for real people to get together. You know? No phonies, as Holden Caufield might have emblazoned on a Cafe Press bumper sticker if he were alive and real, not merely a character in a book. No phonies, aight? ;]

I have to preface this by saying I've never actually stayed overnight here. However, as chairperson of my company's holiday party committee, I can tell you that we visited several function halls in the area and we were completely bowled over by the Colonial Inn. My first impression was a good one, with fresh flowers filling up the lobby. The rooms in the older section of the Inn are cute and quaint with a historical feel. The rooms in the newer section (built in the 70s, I believe) are not as fancy but still clean and comfortable. You have to remember this place is an "Inn," not a hotel per se.

Their functions coordinator is a lovely lady who would do anything to make sure the party goes right. When we toured the room she originally had in mind for us (down in the basement, under the tavern), we found it to be too small and dark for our tastes, so she ended up pulling a couple of strings and getting us the main dining room on the first floor! We had lunch there that day and the food was very good, certainly better than the other places that we visited - and they even gave us little cornbreads to take home. One of my colleagues was so impressed during the tour that she decided to hold her wedding and reception there this fall!

I am looking forward to the holiday party, and know my coworkers will really enjoy having the party at such a classy place.

I have tried the Sunday brunch buffet and it is an absolute disaster with a rather hefty price tag around $30 per person.  Overcooked meats and fish, stale pastries, poor produce, etc.  On another occasion, I tried their lunch menu and that was equally as horrendous.  The cornbread is good but other than that it's hard to find anything appealing about their almost bar foodish type offerings. Even the service is completely inadequate.  I've been there to grab a drink on their terrace and it can take forever to get a beer or the check.  Really embarrassing food in what could be a wonderful restaurant considering the picture perfect old New England setting.

I love the old historic feel of the Colonial Inn, but that's about all. The food and service has miles to go before arriving at acceptable.

The Concord Inn is a historic tavern in Concord (believe it or not).  I photographed a small wedding there in May.  The ceremony was held indoors and the space was very, very tight.  The Inn was extremely busy.  It appears that they overbook themselves all the time.  In addition to the regular restaurant and bar traffic there were 3 weddings, 2 baby showers, and a birthday party there the day that I was there and it was a stop for the breast cancer walk women as well.  It was a total zoo.  The staff managed it well and were very supportive of the ceremony as it progressed, but I felt like there was a lot of extra stuff going on.  I would have liked to feel more focus if I were the couple.

hmm, while they spend a lot of time talking about how historic their establishment is (built in 1716), the room they gave us was in the newer (1950's?) part of the building, and while it was perfectly clean and pleasant, wasn't anything special. i cant say i didnt enjoy the nice modern touch of free wifi, but i still think i would have preferred the original room. pleasantness of dining experience impaired by extremely audible conversation at the next table (the age of the people was probably the most historic element of my stay) regarding varying medical conditions.
