Beer Brawl California style with my best buddy when she finally could take a day from her highly successful multi-careers. Both of us being slightly over-wrought to begin with we took 90 minutes to rate the 12 beers, set up all kinds of paramaters to assure that our ratings weren't influenced by our affection for one another. Amazingly (awww, ain't that CUTE?!?!) we truly did rate the top 3 the same. (Yes, P? I mean I KNOW we had the top 2 the same.)

This place does such a great job of making beer drinkin' FUN. Pink Elephant anyone?

I love the beer selection more than ever, and the continuous string of special events like last night's Killer Green release party are always entertaining, but the food has gone downhill a bit, which saddens me, because it used to be SO good.

I still don't hesitate to make the drive over for some good solid beer drinkin' though.

There's already plenty of reviews so I'll be brief. The food, to me, is absolutely amazing here. I had a lumberjack burger, or something to that effect. It was the best burger I've ever had in my entire life. And it came with a giant steak knife stabbed through the top of it. I think it was ham, egg, and bacon, with two cheeses and some lettuce and sauces. The fries were decent, too. I'm a vegetarian now, so I'll have to break my routine if I ever want to try it again, but it was magical.

Also the beers are aplenty, and that's how I like it.

First, let me pour some beer out for The Etcetera. Dang that was a good bar. Anywho..
I've only been in here once, and I got the Greek burger. It was one of the most memorable burgers I've ever had. Gaaahh, so so good. Feta, some Greeky spice action, cucumber, red onion (I think). The fries were not at all exciting, however. The interior is pretty white bread, and I don't even remember what music was playing, if any. It's really not my type of bar, but I should come back and try some more food. Will do.

I was like "HUH WHA?!" when my normally very rationale friends suggested we meet up at Concordia at 10AM Sunday morning for breakfast, bloody marys, and football. They have breakfast? They are open at 10AM?

Why, yes, indeed they do. Actually they open up at 9am on the weekends and have a delicious breakfast menu. Cheap, tasty, huge. Some even kinda fancy. My buddy had a pesto-hollandaise, bacon, and tomato bene. It looked fantastic. He raved. The biscuits and gravy half-portion was gigantic and extremely filling. The basic breakfast was out of control- I think there was half a loaf of bread toasted up on there! I got a side of fruit to balance the biscuits n gravy and it was complete artistry. Even had to take a cell phone pic of it it was so gorgeous. The Bloody Mary was super spicy. And we just couldn't resist an 11AM IPA to follow- masterfully recommended by the lovely bartenderess. Hey, its football season.... right?

Best part: my buddy's name on his tab: "Glorious Beard."

Researched places online close to home for a nice Sunday brunch with a friend when Concordia Ale House popped up, we hadn't been so it sounded good.  As strict vegetarians we called ahead to ensure they catered to our kind. The person who answered the phone almost laughed when I asked, and said "of course" they catered to vegetarians. I took this as a good sign that they would be like one of the many veggie-friendly places in the 'hood that I enjoyed so.

Sadly, upon opening the menu, I realized that there were basically two options for us: a garden burger and what I guess I would refer to as an "Omelet Bar" with various expensive toppings. Below the list of toppings for the omelets I saw an asterisk with a note indicating that any omelet could be made with tofu instead of egg (or something to that effect).

When the bartender came to take my order I asked her for a "tofu scramble" with x, y & z toppings from their list. She looked at me sort of puzzled like as if to say "WTF is Tofu Scramble"... this being Portland, that surprised me, but I'm used to meat eaters giving me funny looks when I order... so I attempted to clarify. I said "I'd like the "omelet" with tofu, instead of egg" and I pointed to the menu where it said I could sub tofu for egg.

She looked at me strangely and said "I don't even know if we HAVE tofu, I  better go check"... before I told her not to bother  she jolted off... I was going to tell her no worries, let me just have a garden burger... but she was gone. When she returned, she said they did have tofu... At that point I was nervous, but she had gone all the way back to ask, and I didn't want to be a jerk and just say "never mind, I think I want a garden burger"....so I ordered my tofu scramble.

What they brought me was very clearly an egg omelet, and when I said I wanted tofu, they said, of course, "it's inside" . My tofu was inside of an omelet??? So I explained I was vegan and what that meant and what I ordered she took my plate away in a huff. I wasn't rude, I was nice, but she was not happy with me all the same. I didn't ask her to take it, even. She just did.

At that point, I said to my husband "I wonder if she's going to take that omelet into the back, scrape the tofu out of the center and bring it back in two seconds?"... like clockwork, there she was, with a pile of tofu, no egg. When I told her I couldn't eat it because it had been wrapped in the egg she was baffled. And (it seemed) even more angry.

I guess non-vegan/veggie folks wont feel my pain - I get that, but those of you that are vegan/veggie... I must warn you DO NOT EAT HERE!! They clearly don't understand.

I will probably go back someday...........for beer. Their veggie food options totally suck, and even though they have it on their menu, they clearly have no idea what a tofu (non-egg) scramble is. Be warned, if you care.

I was skeptical from the outset I'll be honest. A bar that shares a building with a Subway? Well, that doesn't matter once you get inside. On my first visit our server was very patient with us despite the fact that we had already started drinking a couple hours before and it showed. I has a decent garden burger and fries off their happy hour for a good deal.

The beer selection is of course excellent and my favorite part is taking a 22 home after I've sampled a pint or three. The bartender remembered us our second time in and was good with the recomendations.

It's not a hip bar, or a dive or a place to party, but it is a great spot to relax and enjoy quality beer, preferably with friends.

Took friends from out of town for $2 Tuesdays. Beer selection was great and food was, well, bar food. Service was less than friendly in that North Portland way in which servers always look at you as though you were stupid or an inconvenience.

Food was cold and we didn't get any silverware but both were corrected with little hassle.

I'll probably go back; someone nearby had the veggie lasagna and it looked pretty tasty.

First time visit to this place the other night as we helped a fellow Yeep celebrate yet another miserable year on this miserable planet of ours.  (Hmm, can you tell where my emotions are right now?)

From the outside along Killingsworth, the place had always looked deceptively small whenever I would drive by, so I was slightly surprised by its cavernous interior when I walked in.

The L-shaped bar is at the center juncture and featured an impressive display of taps on tiered shelves, and my eyes had started to glaze over by the seemingly myriad selection.  Thankfully, the bartender came up, steadied me, and explained that they didn't carry all of those beers on tap.  I made a selection for a pint, and he immediately pointed me instead in the direction of an equally multitudinous $2.00 beer selection.  After all, it was-- unbeknownst to me-- Two-Dollar Tuesday.

I ended up choosing beers I hadn't had before because, well, why the hell not?  (I would dread the decisions later...)

The food-- at least the Mushroom Burger that I had-- was not earth-shatteringly good, but it was decent enough to devour completely.  (I was hungry...)  The hand-cut fries were tasty (after about a teaspoon of salt and two gallons of ketchup).  One of the people in our party decided to go across the street to Hot Lips Pizza to get his grub on.  Although I haven't tasted the rest of their menu, I think that was a wise decision.

If it weren't for the birthday celebrant, I don't think I would've wound up at Concordia, but I'm willing to give them a few more chances to impress me.

This place has some of the best beer selection in Portland.  Food is good; better than regular bar food.  I have eaten here a few times and always been pleased.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is roomy inside and good for meeting groups, or grabbing a bar space with one friend and people watching.  Definitely one of my favorite bars in NE Portland.

If you're a beer afficianado (or snob) I'd suggest you hie thee to
this place of many taps and more bottles. You could hurt yourself
sampling.

If you're not, well, don't bother.

The place is "meh" in every other respect. I've been assured the food
is good but it's pretty standard, one might say stereotypical, bar
food. Fish sandwich. Check. Burger. Check. It's like they spent all
their energy on the beers and the rest came out of a copy of Bars for Dummies.

Suggestion, if you're not going to offer table service, designate a
specific area for people to order at the bar. It's not that hard, just
a sign. Or those nifty brass rails a la Matador or Kelly's. But when
people with money to spend can't tell who's sitting at the bar and
who's waiting for drinks, money just might go back into the pocket
instead of in your till. Like mine did.

So we've been working our way through all the brewpubs, alehouses, taverns etc in NE. And even though Concordia Ale House is really near the homestead, it took us awhile to try it out.  Basically, the location is kinda weird. It's on a busy corner, which is convenient if you need groceries, but the Subway that cuts the building in half really kills any cool factor.

But get past all that, and Concordia is a mellow, friendly place with a big selection of beers. And as far as pubs go, this ones got a lot going for it. The menu is the standard fare, but the food is a lot better than most pubs. The staff is friendly. They have a separate dining area and kids menu if you've got little ones in tow.

So, if you're looking for a lengthy beer selection and food that's actually tasty, Concordia Ale house is well worth checking out.

Let me take a minute to revisit how much I adore this place.

In a few short months I have developed a tighter bond with some of the bartenders than I have with many of my friends. They know my name. They hug me. They protect me from the very strange men at the bar who like to explain to me what kind of beer I like ("that's too dark for a lady like yourself!")

I'm a little thrown off by the sudden infiltration by people who don't look a day older than 18, though. I suspect they're from Concordia University. The girls prompt some of my more drunken male friends to make an attempt at beating me in in pool. They fail.

I've also gotten to the point where I can tell Rob to pick a beer for me and I'm never disappointed.

The highlight for me, though, will always be the fact that it's stumbling distance from my house. If I can't make the five block walk, I don't deserve to the leave the bar in the first place.

If you and I start hanging out, it's a sure bet that you'll make a trip to the Ale House with me. Don't worry - it only hurts the first time.

I am definitely a fan of the Concordia Ale House.  From the outside this place is a little bland and plain looking, and it's not that fancy on the inside either - but it is inoffensive and comfortable, especially if you arrive early enough to score a table (which can be in short supply when it's busy...which is quite often).

It's laid out in an "L" shape, with longish open dining room stretching from the main entrance back to the bar.  My experience has been you get better table service if you're sitting in this area.

Facing the bar there's another space directly to your left (with a door that opens onto the sidewalk for smokers to step outside to satisfy their habits).  This area is much more cramped as they've got a table-top video game (Ms. Pac-man, if memory serves) along the wall and a pool table stuck in the middle of the room.  Not many large tables here in this section, but I usually end up here because all the seating in the front is taken.

And of course, you can always sit at the bar where you'll get the best service, and the bartenders are almost always very knowledgeable and ready to help with your beer selections.  Don't be afraid to ask to sample something first - they've always accommodated my requests, but I don't abuse the privilege!

Their food is reasonably priced, and has enough items to satisfy most people.  Burgers and sliders are great, as are their salads (well, I've only ever had one and it was good).  They sometimes go astray with a few of their "fancier" entrees - on a recent visit the Lamb Souvlaki was a bit tough while the accompanying rice was rather bland - but the more basic items like sandwiches and such are always quite good.

They always have a ton of beers on tap, many I'd classify as hard to find, and always a good variety of styles.  They have even more bottles, including some that I've never seen before - even at Belmont Station or John's Market!  A buddy and I recently had a friendly debate as to which PDX watering hole has the largest selection of brews on tap or in bottle - if Concordia Ale House isn't #1, I'd say it's in the top five!

Catering to the beer lover is certainly their primary objective, and they frequently have formal or informal tastings and beer competitions - they once had a 10-IPA battle, where you can buy a flight of tasters and vote for your faves.  Sure, you can do something like that on your own, but they often pick some interesting and diverse examples of the given style of beer.

Service is good, but often can be quite slow.  They've always been friendly though, and like I said it can get quite busy, so I cut them some slack.

Any day is good to go, but on Tuesdays they have a selection of bottled favorites for $2, and their happy hour (which I believe ends at 6pm) is definitely worth it.

One last interesting note, I stopped in a few years back during their first month of business and the owner was behind the bar.  He was an AWESOME guy, a veritable encyclopedia of beer, and very friendly.  He told us about how, during their remodel prior to opening, they uncovered these really cool old pink elephant murals on the walls - they had just been covered up, but he liked them so much they kept them.  Keep an eye out for them; they're reminiscent of the logo from a bottle Delirium Tremens (which you can probably enjoy there).

Great spot!  Ignore the fact that it's in the same building as a Subway shop, with the same boring architecture (at least in the front room.) The space extends way back -- and gets cooler as it does so -- plus the bar has plenty of surface area, and the food is way better than average for a pub.  (I love Portland.)

I was there for Beer Brawl Two, which you can read more about on BeerAdvocate's website, and probably Concordia's -- once they get the site up and running.  Summary: Oregon vs Washington vs California, blind tasting in 4 categories.  Great beer -- but until they publish the results, I have no idea which was which.  I checked out the rest of their beer list, but it was pretty limited since they had so many in for Beer Brawl (identified only by number.)  Even so, their offerings were diverse and interesting.  And if you're one of those hopheads who loves Russian River Brewing's Pliny, they had that too.  (The Younger.)

The service wasn't great, but it WAS Beer Brawl Two, and the place was PACKED.  And scare though they were, every server found a smile, even for our most time-consuming requests ("Can I see what colors you have the t-shirt in?")

Highly recommended.

Full disclosure: I frequent this place way too much.  It's the perfect neighborhood pub-- ten blocks from home, one of the best sets of rotating taps in town, full bar for non-beer drinking friends,better-than-pub-food menu (the burgers really are a draw unto themselves), free pool and broadcast sports that don't drown down the music in the bar.

I won't spend much time discussing the interior-- it appears that's been covered, but "unpretentious" should cover it.

I like that the place has three zones within it-- the family friendly front with table seating, the bar seating only bar (quite a bit of seating for such a small space) and then the game room/sports watching area.  When the place is hopping all three areas have different personalities colored by the varied crowds under one roof.

This place has been a beer lovers' destination for several years. They actively pursue difficult to find beers on tap and the bottle selection is varied and covers both oddities and widely known makes (widely known, that is, in the craft beer world).  But the best times to visit are during the State v. State competitions they hold several times a year called the Beer Brawl.  The competition has evolved from an all-Oregon Imperial IPA battle to February's Oregon v. Washington v. California donnybrook covering four styles of beer and 12 tasters.  An epic blind tasting contest.

Again, this is my neighborhood pub, so I'll cop to some bias in their favor, but I'm also a beer snob and am totally satisified with the consistently high quality of the beer here.  Just don't ask for your everyday corporate beer-like beverages here-- they don't carry them.  But they will kindly offer you something similar that actually tastes like beer.

I don't think any other bar/pub in the Concordia area gives you a better cross section of the make up of the neighborhood.  Families, college students,  indy scruffs, etc.--  it's always an interesting mix.

This is a good place.  The food is tasty and the tap runs aplenty.  If you find yourself at this establishment, seated at a table, do yourself a favor and shimmy up to the wall-o bottled beer behind the bar.  If Concordia had no food, no taps and no ambiance, this bottle selection would warrant four stars all on its own.

Concordia is also one of the better choices in town if you need a Belgian fix.

As much as I'd love to love the Kennedy School, Concordia is the place to go in the Killingsworth 'hood.

But be warned -- go for the beer, not the ambiance (I think I'm in agreement with most of the other Yelpers on this one...).  I counted 22 beers on tap and a ton of bottled beers in the cold case.   As far as pub grub goes, Concordia was better than most.  The staff was friendly too.

I walked in with my friends, sat down and waited for our waitress. There were two other tables and a smattering of people at the bar, so pretty slow. So we waited. And waited. The single waitress we saw walked by us no less than five times to help the other tables but because we couldn't move fast enough, weren't able to catch her. 20 minutes later, she came over and cheerfully said, "I didn't realize you'd sat down!"...despite the fact we were right in between her other two tables. The bartenders are much better with the service.

So the stars really go for the beer selection, which is quite extensive. The bar area is pretty neat too, so I'd opt for that if you're just in search of a beer and not food too. The food menu is decent and acceptable for pub food, but it didn't knock my socks off - if you go for anything, go for a burger.

As a beer drinking destination, the Concordia Ale House has a tremendous selection of great beers to choose from.  I was very impressed at the time that they had two different and equally fabulous double IPA's on tap.

The owner was great, and took the time to talk beer with me and my wife.  He was real excited to talk about their upcoming beer competition between Oregon & Washington brewers.  His enthusiasm for his trade was welcomed and contagious.

The establishment itself is ok...the location is in an L shape, but it seemed as if the main activity was in the center where the bar is located.  If they would only put half the effort into the environment as they do in the beer selection, you would have a 5 star brew pub.

Concordia is a little out of our neck of the woods, so you would more then likely find me at the Green Dragon, which also has an impressive beer selection, and a better ambiance.  However, if I find myself carousing over in NE Ptown, I am more then happy to go back and enjoy another cold beverage. Concordia definitely belong amongst the top places to drink beer in Portland.

I saved Concordia for my 69th review, because I love to come here and get duuuurrrrty. (Not really, I just wanted to say that, and this really is my 69th review.)

I usually hate beer, and I with that comes a distaste for drinking it. However, I do love coffee... and my friend Jesse knows that. So, after much pleading, he convinced me to try their coffee-beer mixed brew.

... and OMG. It's GREAT!

I'm sure it has a formal name, but coffee beer works for me-- Thats what it is, and thats how it tastes: rich, flavorful, dark and powerful!

I once brought 6 out of town friends in (over the age of 26) one of which had a recently expired CA drivers license. Everywhere else in town told them to turn around and go home... ah! Not Concordia! We drank here, ate fries, played pool and felt quite at home.

Super note: This is a great place to bring friends!!

Some of my best beer-afficianado friends love the place.

I'm lukewarm, going really only for location, decent food, and Meet the Brewer nites. (I enjoyed the crusty smoky old Et Cetera Tavern - way better, where locals were WELCOME - and met with a SMILE - even if food was non-existant to horrid)

The Concordia does have better than average food for a Pub - you can actually go for lunch or dinner as the main idea.  Naturally you can rely on finding a stellar brew here, too, and taps rotate, so always explore a bit before deciding, to broaden your palette.  Staff know that means you'll be back, even if they're sorta mean to you.

Nites they've had music were just plain weird...someone with skills needs to do the Booking, and set up sound appropriately, and it could Rock the 'hood, as the Et Cetera formerly did.

This is one place I wish I KNEW the Server saw me walk up,
even if they are already busy, because if I have to stand around awkwardly at that bar one more time for more than 5 minutes,
feeling ready to elbow everyone else away, and demand a little attention for Beer purposes....well dangit, you know what I mean.

Where else in town can you get this kind of Purveyor indifference when your passion really is a match their quality of Pint ?

I hate beeing Invisible, and to have to twist arms for a little friendliness or service.  But here I have.  And after a few YEARS of stamina, I actually had a Server act something other than tepidly cool.  So what - if the Server is just possibly better than me at being a Beer Bitch?  I'm not impressed. Just SELL me a freakin beer, ok?  I DO appreciate and Tip for Server friendliness, information and Banter...but only one time felt that was a reason here...and really, men friends got that ambiance going.

It's worth going on Meet the Brewer nights, but you will again need to be assertive - to find out who it is and horn your way in to say Hello,
or it will seem like a non-event.  You must insist that the Server tell you what Brews they are Introducing/Sampling, even if a Guest Brewer is in the room. Most BrewPubs use a Chalkboard for this crucial info.

I hope you recognize someone here, cuz it's not exactly Cheers.

Server, please - would it kill you to offer a friendly nod my way when i come thru the door or approach the Service Bar?  I don't like paying higher than average beer prices for such indifference toward Patrons.

Or better, why not make a party happen by calling out:
 YAY THERE"S JULES -
here's a sample of our newest Beer !!!

or I might just head on up the street - to Halibuts, the Mash Tun
or the Alberta Public House.   If I get better Tx next time, I WILL change this to reflect the improved service, I promise.   (garsh, can you imagine how _less assertive_  people feel?)

The name "Concordia Ale House" sounds - I don't know- a bit stuffy and fancy for this L shaped pub. So, from this point forward I will call it "Steve".

A beer collection as impressive as Steve's makes me want to run around NE  Portland wearing a KFC bucket over my head while gaily shrieking and playing peek-a-boo. I won't even get into what I want to do on Two Dollar Tuesdays (but it involves a slip-N-slide.). Where was I? The beer. Steve has exceptional taste in beer and has about twenty unusual and faboo beers on tap, alongside a wide selection of bottled beers.

Can I talk to Steve alone for a moment?

Listen up Steve. My love stops at the beer. You mean well. And you are trying. But you just don't seem to get it. Just look around- you have  no atmosphere. Come on guy! You have as much ambiance as the stereotypical "bachelor pad'. The awkward table placement? The kids? The unnecessary and out of place game room? The lack of decent music? Seriously, let's talk about the whole music thing. This is Portland. We are into our music as much as we are into our beer, so could you pretty please invest in a good sound system and get somebody with musical taste to help you out? And no, the radio in the kitchen does not count Steve. I'm sorry to harp on this point, but drinking a fabulous beer in a sterile cafetorium like setting is worse than piss in my Cheerios. Ya know?

I know this sounds like a bitch session Steve. It is not. Consider this your intervention. We all love you. Please- ditch the game room. Consider ways to make the dining area feel more like a living room. Hire a few more servers. Kill the kids (not literally). And lastly, keep up the good work on the beer.

Come here Steve. Let's hug it out.

Concordia Ale House has a lot going for it.  The food is just fine.  The beer selection is pretty outstanding (some Belgians, some locals, some from further afield, everything good).  It is a neighborhood bar slash restaurant through and through.  BUT, I think I'm going to have to agree with Ryan N. The ambiance definitely leaves something to be desired.  There's no place for people to wait for a table (aside from this weird bench in the middle of the room). There's too much space between tables.  Everyone just kind of sits there looking at each other because there's nothing else to focus on.  Something is just "off."  Way off.

I would like to speak up for the parents of the babies, however.  We need somewhere to grab a beer, too.    Show us some love.  And Concordia Ale House, show us some interior design.  That's all we ask!

There are few places that can produce a sense of euphoria within an individual simply upon entering. Such places are sought by all of humanity and seldom are they ever discovered. Thus, when such a place is found, one needs to embrace it to the fullest extent. I have found this place and it is called The Concordia Ale House.

The Concordia Ale House boasts the best and most eclectic beer selection in North Portland. It doesn't have the most beers on tap, but the slection is consistently changing, revolving and evolving. They have everything from Iron City beer, which is a feature of their two dollar tuesday night selection, to Sami Claus, which is a pricey, seasonal, 13 % apv european import. As well as the beers on tap, they have many various bottled brews, which are consistent w/ their eclectic and plentiful selections. Also if you want to try something on tap, they're happy to let you try it on the house.

The cuisine at the Ale House is as interesting and varied as their beer selection. The dishes vary from time to time, depending on what the chef feels like concocting. The burgers are always good and the fries are consistently fantastic, some of the best I've experienced at a pub.

The Ale House also has great bartenders and friendly waitresses that add to the utopia-like experience. Also free pool is always a plus and is a rare find these days.

Those of you who are looking for some grand oasis in the desert that is North Portland, the Concordia Ale House is not a mirage, it may just provide the nourishment that your pallate had been longing for. Can you feel the Euphoria yet? I've experienced it and now no other place will suffice......actually thats not entirely true, other places will suffice, I just added that last bit to increase dramatic intensity.

I was there for the Beer Brawl last Thursday and it was a grand ol' time. I am new to the neighborhood and heard about this thing on Yelp so wanted to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. Good music, free pool and a great mix of peeps. Not to mention a ridiculously diverse variety of beer. What a selection! The blind beer taste test was great, even though one of the stouts invoked a gag reflex...it was the one in the middle on the tasting tray. The goal was to see if OR, WA, or CA had better beers. When I headed home OR was in the lead. Big surprise. I'll have to check this place out on a regular night to see what it's like when there isn't an event...I hear it's a bit sleepier but that may be nice for a little after work game of pool.

I know about Concordia because the head chef is a personal friend. That being said, I'd still love the place even if he was my bitter enemy. The food is incredible, orders of magnitude beyond typical pub fare. It is deceptively affordable, too. Since I no longer live in pdx it kills me to talk to my chef friend there, because he invariably tells me the specials he's devised. He goes into loving detail about the ingredients he's acquired, the creative yet methodical preparation, and the stunning presentation. I made it a point to visit Concordia on my trip back to p-town this weekend, and it didn't disappoint. It never does.

Also in the 'not disappointing' category is the beer selection. Concordia stands out as a beer snob's bar. In Portland, the microbrewery capital of the world, this is truly an accomplishment. They have rotating taps with outstanding local and imported beers, and if it's not on tap it's probably available bottled.

Go to this place, expand your horizons (both culinary and alcoholic) and enjoy the friendly and courteous service. If I still lived in pdx I'd eat here every day.

By far one of the best places to go on a Tuesday night!! They have a fine selection of bottled beer for two dollars what a sweet deal!

The bartenders are always friendly and always willing to help. They have great knowledge of the beer they have on tap/freezer and are great with their recommendations. Beer is their specialty. They do how ever have a full bar for those non beer drinker, and the drinks have always been well made.

This place has some of the best pub food around They have amazing burgers, "The Great Onishe" is my favorite. They have huge portions of fries that come in two styles Cajun and regular.

They have a good selection on the juke box and free pool! Don't miss out on one of Portland's finest pubs! I love this place and have many fond memories here and plan to make many more here come down and join me!

This was a great meal for bar food (I say that because we were literally sitting at the bar eating). Also I would give this five stars but I realized I have only given five star ratings so let's call this 4.8. The Lumberjack burger was enormous and outrageously delicious (and enough for three meals). The beer selection is fantastic. Can't wait to sample more from the tap menu.

With an amazing selection of beers, both bottled and on tap, the Concordia is a great place for beer freaks. The food is good, with some great options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.
Where the Concordia misses is on the service end. Natasha (I believe is her name) is great and I have no complaints with her service, but she seems taxed because she isn't getting any help from the two guys that are typically behind the bar. I'm not sure if these guys are owners of the bar; if not, the ownership should find some new employees. I've never seen a smile, or gotten a hello from them despite coming in weekly. You guys serve beer! Is that not a job that is fun for you!? I'm getting worked up just thinking about it, so I'll move on.
Quizzy on Sunday nights is super fun, but needs more people for our team to play against. To be honest, the quiz night is the reason that my friends and I continue to patronize the Concordia. I would have no reason to drink here otherwise.

definitely the best place for drinking good beer on Tuesdays! i will call it "inexpensive beer night" because "cheap beer night" is not accurate - there is nothing cheap about some of my favs (Walkingman, which is always on tap).

good quality pub food, large plates. pool if you're up to it, too. knowledgeable staff is helpful for finding the perfect beer - or other cocktail - to fit your mood.

Oh Portland how I love thee...Everywhere in Portland gets an automatic three stars right off the bat just for being in Portland.  The Concordia Ale house certainly deserves all five.
This place is clean and casual.  A great place to chill out and have some great beer, or have a nice dinner.  I have visited the Concordia on many occasions, but I have only had dinner there once.  I had a stuffed pork loin that was stellar, nice and tender.  I don't remember exactly how much it was but was somewhere in the neighborhood of only $14 nice and cheap.
But who cares about that?  On to the beer!  They always have beer from Walkingman which is one of the best breweries in the country in my opinion.  And then I think the next one I had was from twin mountain.  The problem with Yelping beer bars is often I can't remember what I had the next day, but I remember if I had a good beer drinking night, and I always do at Concordia.
OK I have to admit one of the stars earned here is because they have a smoking hot Latina working there knows her beers, and was really nice... I'm sorry I am just a sucker for that.

This place is fantastic. Not only do they have about 20 beers on tap, they have a ton of bottled beer too. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing. Nice big tables and a great wait staff that all seem like they love their jobs. The food is fantastic too. Everything I have eaten here has been great. (Any place that can make french fries that still taste good after sitting in the fridge for a day must be doing something right.)
