On the hotel website, they boast that this restaurant is "critically acclaimed" and "top Atlanta restaurant". Critically acclaimed as what... BAD?? I ordered the chef's specialties twice. First I had the steak salad, which was decent - especially since I ordered it at 12:45 AM and they stop serving room service at 1:00 AM. The dressing, steak, and hard noodles were very good, however the lettuce was brown on all edges. At 1:00 AM I am not really going to complain though.
The next day I had dinner in the "relaxed atmosphere overlooking the runway". If by relaxed they mean yelling from the bar to ask me what I want, and not coming back when my plate, water glass and wine glass were empty, then they were hella relaxed!
As previously mentioned, I ordered the chef's signature dish - this time it was pork tenderloin with onion rings and honey mustard barbecue sauce. As the waiter set it down he said "best dish in the house". OK, cool, since it's $21, it better be good! As I sawed into the first piece of pork, my expectations lowered. I drained my water glass in an attempt to swallow the dry bites of saw-dust - er, I mean pork, without choking. If this is their best dish, I'd hate to have the worst.
The waiter came by once to see how all was. I was in mid bite and tried to tell him I was disappointed, He wasn't really asking because he cared however, and didn't stick around for a response. I also noticed that my dish was remiss of the onion rings, which I was looking forward to. I couldn't find the server to ask for them. Mind you the restaurant was pretty much empty - I think there were three other patrons.
I didn't see him again until I finally went to the bar to get my bill. By then I didn't care to give him a review of the meal, and let it show in the light tip he received. I realized he didn't cook the meal, but he didn't do anything to help after bringing it to my table either. I usually over tip, (which I will do now, even though I am paying $5 per beer in an airport bar), so his loss.
At such a nice hotel, I expect a higher class in restaurants and service.
