Im giving this place 4/5 for a few reasons. One, not many people know this but theres a secret buffet upstairs which is all you can eat. Two, the halo halo and ice cream here is the best you can find in San Diego. And three, the bakery next door has the best puto Ive ever had. Unfortunately the parking is tiny and the food is only average so it falls short of 5 stars.

Its been a while since ive been here so dont quote me on the buffet. They might have had to get rid of that whole operation because of the economy. But still, the halo halo is the bomb here.

Filipino food is tricky. Although very very tasty, it's ugly. It's usually brown and stewed with a little bit of green. But yeah mostly brown.

Filipino food is best served fresh and hot, home-made and cooked in small batches.

Lots of Filipino food joints have it buffet tray style, cause cooking some of these dishes takes time.

Sooooo Conching's I can't give you more than 2-stars. If you're not Filipino and you want Filipino food it's best to ask a Filipino co-worker or friend to just make some for you.

What deserves 5-stars is the ice cream and desserts. One scoop is huge and they make some yummy avocado and ube shakes with scoops of ice cream, evaporated milk and ice. Sooo good.

This past year, the only times Ive eaten at conchings was after Midnight!  Tocilog FTW!!!  For you non filipinos out there, lemme translate...

-Yeah they be selling some kind of meat with rice and eggs.  I don't know what kind of meat it is, but that shit is good though!!!-

Usually after the club, you can find everybody who was at the club, here at conchings.  Friday and Saturday nights are when its helllla poppin'.  I wouldnt be suprised if they started charging cover to get up in here.  Just imagine starbar, but instead of alcohol, FOOD.

Theyve also got a mini ice cream parlor in here too.  It's not open after midnight though, but I have tried their ice cream in the day and it is delicious.  I recommend the UBE ice cream!  Halo halo is always good too.  And the prices are really cheap!

Got bebot?

The food was inexpensive and the portion sizes were abso-lute-ly enormous! I had leftover for 2 days which = 3 different meals! The food was delicious. It is a small hole in the wall where you pick and choose what you want. I didn't have the ice cream but it looked amazing. Next time I will save room for that... ;)

NOT GNA LIE, ima be honest, this place is not great.

the only thing worth buying here is the ice cream, JUST the icecream. they put too much fillers in their halo halo if you buy the ready made one.

the food is meh. ive had better. PLUS i had sinigang, and it looked to me like they didnt wash the veggies because there were bugs floatin around in my sabao (soup). also, my friends saw cockroaches in their kitchen.

i know filipino food is greasy already but damn, SUPER greasy here. i honestly wouldnt go here for lunch breakfast or dinner. i suppose their service has gotten better since the last time i was there, but i seriously cant get the image of the greasey ass food and bugs floatin in my sinigang out of my head. im never going here again.

okay, okay, faith is a bit restored on Conching's.
It's because they saved the day for boo and I. Dinner time and Tita's and Karihan had no more good food. So I went to Conching's and they redeemed their name.

Got a couple of combo plates to go. I forgot how "less fatty" most of their food is here. The sisig (fried pork diced up with onions, and vinegar, etc) was way better (ya, I said it) than Tita's Kitchenette. We also got the Chicken Afritada and Menudo and Mechado. All were good. Even the sabaw (soup) from the Sinigang stew was less fatty. Don't get me wrong, I still like my Filipino food to have that fat in it for flavor...but sometimes it can be overwhelming.

So, I gave them one more star. Moving up from 2 to 3. Actually it might be 3.5 stars...because the Paksiw style pork spare ribs are pretty damn good. You're alright with us Conching's, you're allllllright.

Can somebody please tell what today is? I've been busy all week so I hope my freestyle is up to par. I am doing a review on a local Filipino food joint that is an afterhours hit with all the clubbers and party people. I know last week I changed it up and used a Miley Cyrus hit, some liked it and some were like WTH!? Today I went with a rapper who I think
has lyrical skills and is pretty damn good for a white guy. His album dropped last week and I've been listening to it since it came out. In his words, "Man it feels so good to be back!!"

To the tune of WE MADE YOU by Eminem

When you walk through the door
You will clearly see (clearly see)
All the ones from downtown, they just finished clubbing(just finished clubbing)
You're at CONCHING'S (baby)
Everybody's hungry (Everybody's hungry)
Hold up..Filipino food will do
They have a late night menu!

(Verse one)
Back by popular demand
I guess late night Pinoy food has a lot of fans
Get ready to eat all your rice with your hands
How does it taste, is it tasty, is it bland?
Well look at all the people arrive in lil' clans
Damn man...did 20 peeps jump out that lil' van?
Wait, didn't we see that girl with her man?
She was dancing at the club, now she's back again
"I thought Super Sergio's was the plan"
It was too crowded so we came here with a bunch of friends
The food here is tasty, I heard it from some man
Yes I told the man, don't ask me this again
Not to be rude, I'm not trying to offend
But I left the club, I was tired of seeing all you men
I came here to escape, I rate the food a 10
I know you're hungry girl
In fact I see you grin- now come on girl

REPEAT CHORUS

(Verse 2)
We sit in the corner, looking for the waiter so we can order
Call the girl over, ask nicely don't force her
Sorry to force ya, but can you please be so generous
Take our request with a smile and tenderness
If so, I won't be rude, I'll be a complete gentleman
May I have the TLT and sisig for me and my girlfriend
And some halo-halo after we finish eating and then
Pay her, 'baby give the cash to our new lil' friend' Don't forget its cash only, so hit up the ATM
I'll see all you clubbers next saturday again
And this time ladies keep control of your men
They get so drunk, waiters pay little attention
A little did I mention, that alcohol is on your breath they can't stand the stench
Man I swear them guys are so wasted they don't even flinch
They come to CONCHING'S, eat the food, sober up then ditch!

Ok let me break some things down for my non-filipino yelp fans (all 3 or 4 of you)
TLT- this dish comes with rice, a fried egg, tocino(sweet pork) and tapa(beef)
Sisig- this is diced up pork with onions and a nice zesty taste(sorry for the wack description)
Halo-halo: I believe it actually translates to "Mix-mix" and that is exactly what it is. Its a mix of ice, ice cream, some jello, condensed milk
Clubbers: The youngins who hit up downtown every weekend(and Thurs nights too) Once the club ends, they look for a spot to get some food and sober up.
Super Sergio's: the usual after clubbing spot for mexican food. Too many people come here, fights are often started.

4 Stars because the yellow rice, although it makes your plate look good, it turned my poopy green!!

The End

I went to this place to try the halo-halo.  I was pleased with the ube ice cream that they included, but was not impressed with the halo-halo in general.  There were too much beans and hard, plastic-tasting jellos that were used as fillers.  The only positive thing was the ube ice cream they put on top of the halo-halo.  I have had better halo-halo at Max's Fried Chicken.

After using the TLC3 evaluation of this place, I find that I will not be back.

TASTE:  The halo-halo was a 2-star event.
LOCATION:  Parking was limited and could get congested quickly.
CONSISTENCY: Not applicable.
COST:  The halo-halo was $3.75
CLEANLINESS:  This place gets a "D" in that the floor was sticky and filthy.  The windows had greasy hand prints, the chairs badly needs a good wipe down with a damped rag.  I did not stay to eat the halo-halo, nor did I bother to check the restroom.  I came on a muggy day.  This place did not have any airconditioning turned on; it just used ceiling fans.

My overall impression was a 2-star restaurant that may be overdue for a visit by the local health department.

Grease Bomb! Went here recently for some late night faded eats...got the Tapsilog. Goodstuff but greasy as fuck! Reguardless, it was 8$ well spent. I like how they include 2 types of rice..garlic&yellow. I wonder what they use to fry the rice tho? I'll ask next time...hope it aint margarine! Trans fat free is the way to be...haha

I've been coming here since OMG I'd hate to say since high school and that's like a loooooong time ago. My cousin's love this place for their late night eatery during the weekends. So if you're out and about, parting till the break of dawn, and want some kinda filipino home cooking come here. They have the best combination ever call TLT and they load it, so come hungry or to go.

What is TLT you might ask...it's Tocino (marinated pork), Longanisa (Seasoned pork sausage), and Tapa (marinated beef) over a massive amount of garlic rice and 2 over-medium eggs.

During the normal days you can go for lunch and dinner and get what ever they have laid out. You just point to what you want if you don't know the name. I love this place because they remind me of my mom's cooking. The owners and cooks I believe are from the same province as my family, not too sure.

They have the best dessert also....HALO HALO meaning mix mix. If you'd had 3 bean dessert at a vietnamese restaurant it's like that but much much better. I love mine with Ube(purple yam) Ice Cream. It's to die for.

I was having a major craving for Halo Halo. I hadn't had it in a while and i was PMSing, so i NEEDED some bomb ass mix-mix.  So after looking for Halo Halo on Yelp I found this place.  Thankfully they were open late.  The picture here is dead on! their halo halo is super yummy and  inexpensive (compared to Goldilocks - expensive and small). The BEST halo halo I've had, outside of the PI, is at Patio Filipino in San Bruno.  TRY IT if you're ever in the Bay Errea.
My bf and I also ordered lumpia shanghai. It was just okay. I've had better...really nothing special. We didn't try anything else but next time I'm in town I will try one of the silog's. At that time, I can write a more comprehensive review.  ;p

Oh, how I miss the days after the weekly trip to Seafood City would bring my mom and I to Conching's cafe on the way home.

Every time we walked in, I was hoping there'd be steaming tray of sisig calling my name. If not, then I would opt for bisteq. The best part for me is getting the cup of sinigang. Mmm...

I'm Filipino. It's in my blood (almost literally) to crave the sodium-y goodness and fat.

My only problem is I've NEVER had the ice cream! Is there something wrong me with me? LOL!

Conching's gets 5 stars from me because I live in frickin' OC and can't find good Filipino food within a decent radius.

YUMMMM HALO-HALO (hall-o hall-o) It's like this filipino dessert. It has all type of things in one drink or i should call it a smoothie sort of haha

They also have other desserts on hand, but they also do serve food as well. Different day, different food. It's always a guessing game and unpredictable. The difference from this place than other places are that they are limited in selection. but don't get me wrong every dish is yummy. no complaints

From reading the reviews of Conching's there must be a major night and day difference.  It seems that most of the rave reviews of the food are from people dining after a night of partying at a club or bar.  I was actually looking forward to eating here since I had heard about this place quite a bit from someone and had taken to reading the reviews somewhat regularly.  I came here with some friends on a Saturday morning around 11am and I didn't have the kind of experience  many have written about.

We were looking for 'silogs and were happy to see them listed on the banner above the steam tray table, especially the TLT.  We quickly found out that we weren't going to get what we came for.  The lady behind the counter told us that they only serve the 'silogs at night.  Then we were told they didn't have any eggs, with eggs in plain sight.  Then they said they might run out of eggs for later if they cooked the ones they had.  Okay...

We were hungry though and ready to eat whatever they had to offer so each of us got a combo plate.  They are really generous with the portions here that is for sure.  The food itself was decent to "meh."  The chicken adobo was good.  The tapa and tocino had a decent flavor but it seemed a bit stale to me, like maybe they were the leftovers from what was served to the club kids the night before.  The rice we got was just the regular steamed rice, again because the garlic fried rice was supposedly only served at night.

Of all the turo turo places I've eaten at this would probably be the last place I would go to during the day.  After hours?  I'm just happy I live in the bay area and I can pick from Cafe Colma or Ling Nam for late night Filipino eats.

Hi Manang Conching,

Ewan ko ba kung ano ang what happened dito when we came here for almusal.  This comflaint is strictly for the turo-turo section of your establishmentz.

First off, sabi sa menu, meron kayong BREAKFAST... pero BAKIT WHY did the ferson zey dot the BREAKFAST was only available in the evening?  I am hella confused.

Okay, I seesaw dot you have a lot of ulam: sinigang na fork, sinigang na fesh, chicken adobo, longganisa, tocino, some mangled-looking tapa, pinakvetz.... variety ha!  Pero I was super craving some ITLOG... some over-medium EGGS to comflete my TOCILOG yearningz that morning.

So I nicely asked, "Manang, pwede po bang magpaluto ng itlog?" (Ma'am, do you think I can request to have some eggs made?).

Pero, I really don't know what was going on when you straight up tried to make eskewsess to my face... "Wala kaming itlog." (we don't have eggs)....
WHILE I WAS STARING AT A CELLOPHANE BAG FULL OF EGGS THAT IS ON THE TABLE BEHIND YOU!!!!! WTH!?

then you proceeded to say "Baka maubusan kasi mamaya, at pag naubusan baka wala ng mabili" (we may run out for tonight and if we do, we may not be able to buy anymore)

UH HUH.  hmm... seriously, ewan ko kung anong shabu ang sinisinghot mo, pero in fairness Manang, grabe... as in... babayaran naman namin ang itlog, OKAY?  WE WILL FAY FOR THE EGGS!

But because I was super hangry to da max... as in... i cannot take it anymore.... I ordered my $7 two-item combo of longganisa and tocino with rice.  The Tocino... well... that was okay... greasy, but no tough pieces at all.  The longganisa was okay, definitely not the Ilocano style that I'm used to.  The tapa was nice and garlicky, but the texture was kinda weird.  The adobo was standard, and I can detect the sinigang packet essence in the sinigang broth (which means the ingredients haven't marinated well/long enough).

The cantaloupe juice was not good either.

ugh.  Ewan, but the experience was just so bad here that I was still griping about it the next day.

I guess this is the flaw of the star-rating short-cut system on Yelp....

Lovingly yours,
grace.

I was in the mood for Filipino food on Saturday... So, of course I'm searching on Yelp to help me out. My husband and I, along with our two daughter drove from Allied Gardens to eat a late lunch... Since there isn't anything remotely close to Filipino food around our area, a trip down to south is a must!

And, I am sure glad that we did! It was pretty packed when we got there, but we got our food quickly and we were able to find a table. All the food was great... Just like Lola use to make (but Lola's is always better)! Big portions for the price. My 5-year old said, "Mommy, i like the chicken. Can you make this too?" So now, I have to learn how to make my adobo like theirs... We even had leftovers for lunch on Monday! You can't beat that!

The best part was the halo-halo/mais desserts after our meal. Just when I thought I was stuffed to the limit with chicken curry (didn't even touch my pinakbet), I couldn't resist ordering the Mais con Yelo dessert! Soo yummy! I also couldn't help taking a few bits of my husband's halo-halo.  Can't wait to go back to try their SILOGS!!

Yea, mostly everybody you see at the club comes here to eat.  I usually order the TLT, which it comes wit eggs, tocino, and topsulog. The sisig is alright, too. So, if you wanna sober up, come here to eat!!!

Personally, I feel I can make better Pinoy food at home thanks to my Dad being from Pampanga, and a fantastic cook who taught me how to hold my own in the kitchen from the time I was 8 years old.

But I will give Manang Conching 5 stars, because she knows my parents well and has always treated my family like royalty when we stop in, and because Conching's has THE BEST halo halo in all of San Diego, hands down.  I will drive to her cafe from my house in Rancho PQ just for a tall glass of this cold and creamy goodness, with macapuno ice cream on top.

Also, I won't lie.  I do like her bistek, even if it is on the greasy side.  I don't eat here often, but when I do get a hankering to feed my Filipino side (and I'm too lazy to cook), I'll come here for some okoy, bistek, and siopao.

And of course, her heavenly halo halo.

Yumm... this place hits the spot when I need to reconnect with my roots. Santa Ana and Orange County in general don't have many local Filipino eateries that serve the kind of food that Conchings Cafe does. I don't get to eat Filipino food that often, but whenever I go down to San Diego I make sure that I stop by and get my fix.

I usually get the 2 combination meal. It comes with 2 scoops of rice and 2 orders of whatever they have available that day. Their portions are plentiful and their prices are low. I can't complain about that.
I love:
1)Their SISIG -- that sh*t is bomb!!!!! Ahhh I always get bummed out when I go there and they don't have it, but when they do I always tear it up!
2)The cinigang is also spot on. I don't usually get it as part of my meal, but just ask for the soup instead so that I can put it on my rice!!
3) I always have to get the cantaloupe drink (I don't know what its official name is) because it's sweet and delicious
4)The HALO HALO of course. Everyone already knows the deal on that one. It's the bomb-diggity!!

Other things:
1) Beefsteak - Can't go wrong, but I like the beefsteak at Tita's better!
2) Adobo - I've had better.

People may think that the staff is "rude," but who cares? They're like that to everyone. Filipino or not. So don't get butt-hurt. They are there to cook and serve the food not to be your bff!

I'm 0% Filipina but I know good food when I eat it.  This restaurant sells food  that tastes homemade.  The ladies at the counter even look at me like I'm an irritating little niece when I ask "What's this? .... oh, What about this?"

My favorite is the sinigang.  The Best soup.  mmmm....  I have gone there in the evening and when they run out of a certain dish, they don't replenish it until the next day so if it's your first time, go early.

The only bad thing is that you aren't going there for the decor.  It looks a little run down.

OH!   And heed warning... if you go into the bakery next door, be careful with the seemingly nice lady at the counter.  She offers you a free pastry and then tries to sell you a dozen in the same breath.  I went in there one day for $1 worth of pan de sal and left with like $15 in pastries I never knew I needed.  Thank God for coworkers :)

I'm going to go with a 3 stars for this place.  I'm split and here's why.  As for the hot food, I'd probably give it a 1-2 stars.  I'm not a big fan of the buffet like style that they got there.  The hot food isn't that great in my opinion and I'd probably pass on that in the future as well.

Their dessert menu though is killer.  I'd give it a 5 stars for their desserts.  They've got probably the best halo halo in the San Diego area.  It's very good here and it's practically what brings me back here all the time.  I went here yesterday with a friend and he suggested that I try the ube ice cream shake.  WOW.  That was SO GOOD.  They mix about two scoops of ube ice cream with ice and some condensed milk.  It's one of the best desserts or chilled drinks that I can think of!

Overall, I'd say pass on the hot food but come for the desserts.  You can't go wrong with that.

Everything good and beautiful about Conching's is the very reason faithful locals like me are willing to brave the catastrophic parking situation, sticky floors, torn booth upholstery, eventual cholesterol spike and/or necessary tetanus vaccination that each visit entails. 'Everyting' here being cheap food in large portions, every combination more delectable than the last.

My usual is two scoops of rice + Pork Adobo + Pinakbet + all the love in my cold, bitter heart, washed down with a cantaloupe juice. Where else can I have fried tilapia and Ube Suman at the SAME TIME? My parents' place, probably, or any Filipino birthday party ever, but that's not the point! This is: they also do Halo-Halo. And the old guy manning the freezer does not play around. You WILL get all the funky beans and jellies. You WILL get a scoop of ice cream, be it avocado, mango, Pandan or the unlikely cheese & corn. You WILL get a nub of Leche Flan to top it off. And you WILL enjoy it or else your Lola will cry every night while praying the rosary, lighting candles, blowing them out, and asking the Holy Mother to give you wisdom and robot legs. My experience with Catholicism is limited, but I assume this description is fairly accurate.

Halo Halo Ice Cream!  You have got to try it.  It was my first time last night having it as an ice cream and I normally don't like Filipino ice cream, but this was great!  I'm even starting to like the macapuno/ube ice cream!  A great place to go for Filipino ice cream at 3:30 in the morning!

And, as my previous review had mentioned, it ranks high in the late night spots to eat.  TLT is awesome (tocino, longanisa, tapa) and you can ask for all garlic rice instead of the saffron (because the saffron doesn't have any flavor).  Palabok though was a little dry and didn't have much flavor.

Nothing really compares to satisfying a craving. I was ready to cut off my tongue I wanted filipino cuisine so bad. So I took a drive down memory lane and ate me up some Conchings!

Even though I'm part filipino, I didn't grow up knowing all the names of the plates and desserts. I was too busy eating them. I had two scoops of rice, two entrees, soup and a dessert drink for $9-something. All of that probably could have fed two or three people. It was FUGGIN FANTASTIC. I felt like I had just sexed up a super model and was ready for the after sex cig. But I opted out to savor the tastes of that mighty meal...it was THAT good.

The two entrees consisted of bamboo shoots, string beans?, oysters, shrimp and a mix of spices and sauce. The other was chicken with peas and sauce. The soup was perfectly salty and fat-filled. The dessert drink was coconut slices mixed with a green jello substance, topped with crushed ice. This I absolutely loved because it doubled as a drink. Once the liquidy stuff was gone, you could mix up the ice with the sweets and chow.

I was way too full the enjoy the ice cream parlor in the next room. But I did venture next door to Richard's bakery for a bag of Pan de sol to go. It has been way too long since my last visit to this little plaza off Plaza.

SPOON POWER!!

Oh yea, they're open late on fridays and saturdays. Too awesome.

This place is a personal favorite not for the food but for the halo-halo ice cream dessert.

Halo halo is a concoction of shaved ice, condensed milk, a variety of filipino/asian fruits like red mung beans, sugar palm fruit, jack fruit, coconut sport, and then topped with your ice cream of your choice (my fave ice cream is the mais queso).

A definite must for anyone who hasn't tried this awesome Filipino dessert...perfect on a hot day and when you're craving something sweet!!

I'll go here after the club for a late night, drunken meal.
Other than that, nah. I'm a fan of Tita's so there's my bias.

I come here all the time because my mom knows Conching (I guess because she goes to family functions and gives us free food all the time) and because I know Edgar the cook upstairs -- and he always hooks us up.

He hooks us up so much that it is almost embarrassing.  Sometimes, I just go downstairs, hat pulled down and order in English.  That way, I get to enjoy the food and support the business.  Freebies are always cool, but sometimes you just feel like paying.

Today was one of those days...

My wife, son and I were running errands and going to parks all day (my next master Yelp list!) and by late afternoon, I had a raging appetite that only comfort food could soothe.

As a Pinoy, I have fond childhood memories of a few dishes...tocino, chicken adobo, and longonisa (sp.?).  Now as an adult, I always go back to these dishes to make me feel happy! So we went down to National City to go to Conching's.

I called my mom (it was her birthday) and wanted to see if she wanted to meet us over there...it would've been nice to have my son see his Lola on her birthday, right?  She didn't answer (she was busy doing stuff for her business.)  We did not let that impede our progress.

Upon arriving, I saw a vehicle that looked like my dad's car.  This gave me great hope that this was just meant to be.  We looked around the bottom floor and no parents.  I then went in line and ordered my chicken adobo and rice...the servings are over the top! All three of us had all intentions of sharing the 1 item combo ($4.85).

It is very difficult to find decent food for that price any place in the city.

I decided to go upstairs to see if my parents were at the all you can eat section upstairs.  No.  But I did see Edgar and he asked where I was going to sit. I told him that my wife and son were downstairs chowing down.

Of course, that was not good enough!  He suggested that we come upstairs, wrap up the food that we bought for a snack at home later, and eat from the buffet.  I told you these people really hook us up!

I was thrilled to see that they had pancit and adobo on the steam line.  I was happy to see that they had gulaman (a sweet drink with jelly and tapioca balls) and melon (sugar water & shredded cantaloupe) for drinks.

Not wanting to siphon all of the profits, we shared a plate to quell the starving inner beasts.  The simple preparation of the adobo was so spot on!  For a second, it made me think about sitting at home on my couch in PJs eating this with a spoon in a bowl waiting for my dad to come home.  Nothing great, but neither was my mom's cooking.  But it sure did a nostalgia job on me.

My son absolutely loved it...which led to two very important notions: 1) My son is half Pinoy...so he has to love this and 2) how often has  Conching been bringing this to my moms house when he is there.

Mind you, my boy is only 17 months old...he ate this adobo like an old man from the province.  He was making noises and talking to himself.  Hilarious does not do the sounds justice!

He also loved the Melon...at the end, we put some in a styrofoam cup to   go so he could drink it out of his bottle in the car.  How Filipino is that?

Love Conching's Cafe for all the reasons above...but I know what their faults are and I know why I couldn't raise the rating higher.

But I doubt that you will be disappointed about their food, the service, the rotating choices and especially the price.  It is what it is...and if you know that going in?  You may rate this a four or higher.

In all honesty, I just cant go above a three...free food or not.

I went with my boo this passed saturday after the Casbah failed to make our dance groove...well...groove.

We decided to make the trek and boy im so glad we did! Now I have to go back and try the halo halo asap!

I had the chicken pancit and boo ordered this delicious concoction of eggs, beef, curry rice, and lord knows the most delicious sausage i have ever tasted in my life.

the next day we woke up craving more but held back so we wouldnt get bored of eating it too much.

the place looked a little run down. and i think we made it right before big late night crowds started coming in so the service was pretty quick. I totally reccommend this place!

yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums

I really like the area of this place. It kinda reminds me of  Daly City.

The food was alright, i kinda expected more. Typical filipino resturaunt. Not much to really add to that.

Hmmm....so this place looks pretty ghetto, but their Halo Halo is FABULOUS!! It's all kinds of hooked up with those crispy rice things, flan, and all kinds of goodness. My favorite part though....the fact that they put what ever flavor of ice cream you want on top....HELLO! Can you say Mais Queso?! :)

Honestly, I might have given Conching's 2 stars if not for their Halo Halo. I'm dreaming of it now.....

Filipino food after midnight, yowza!  In my opnion this place is better than Zarlitos.  Simple menu.  Practically every menu item can be shared if you are semi-hungry.  But it sure is a lot of food even when eaten alone and you are mad hungry.  Typical menu item is about $7-$8.

Yumm!  Pork, beef and chicken dishes!  TLT!

Open til 9 on regular days and on Friday and Saturday open until 330 in the morning.

I agree with CB on one of the downfalls of the restaurant is that it is a bit dirty.  =/  Sorta scary.  But hey the food is good. haha.

Get your grub on!

i really love this place.  Conchings is deep in my memory from when my family first moved to San Diego in '92.  They have some good home-cooked-tasting Filipino food there.  from the sinigang to the beef steak and back to the kare kare.  I love me some Filipino food and Conchings has never let me down.  I love how they have a buffet upstaires now.  I love how they are open late night on the weekends to satisfy that undeniable fourth meal.  Yes, my friends and I roll up in there after the club in our little hoochie outfits, and we don't care about the stares because Conchings is THAT good.  I love that they make party platters.  I love how they serve Filipino ice cream and they have never gone wrong with their deserts.  Oh Conchings!  I LOVE YOU!

The portions are large, and the food is good. But I don't recommend eating there when it's hot. The time we went, they did not turn on the AC. Instead they prop the doors open and their were flies everywhere.  Also, they do not take debit cards, so get cash before you go.
