I just got my laptop back from Computer Courage, and it is working faster. A previous computer repair person said that the DVD drive was broken, but CC said it was only a driver. They saved me from having to purchase a new one, and now I can play DVDs!
They had it fixed in one day. When I picked it up, they explained that they had installed better anti-virus software than I had. They showed me how to clean the hard drive monthly and they installed software that makes it easier to uninstall software. I had a problem with Windows uninstaller.
They even said to call them if there are any problems. It's good to know I can just call and speak with someone to explain how to best use my computer. -

Finding someone to help you fix your computer is like the Internet-era equivalent of having to hire a plumber from out of the phone book.
My father (a senior citizen) had the misfortune of getting his laptop infected with a virus. I didn't have the skills to fix it myself so I took it to Computer Courage. They cleaned it up, installed anti-virus software, and gave me guidelines on maintenance. They're honest, professional, and understanding.
Their prices are reasonable, they work quickly, and they can present you with different options.
Use the Yelp! coupon if it's available - it's a really good deal. -

The folks at Computer Courage were outstanding in their honest appraisal as far as what was wrong with my 8 yr old Shuttle computer (corrupt RAM and Windows XP) and advising me that it wasn't worth the cost to have it repaired. Instead they performed a data transfer to my back-up Mac PowerBook and made sure that any incompatibilities between the platforms and my iTunes library was resolved to the best of their ability. Both Allie who coordinated my appointment and Thai who assisted me with the servicing were extremely helpful, friendly and patient. I plan on going back to Computer Courage when I eventually upgrade to a new desktop and need their expertise in transferring all my files again.

I would highly recommend Computer Courage. They are reliable, efficient and honest. Adam, the owner, is helping me create a website. Having no experience with creating websites myself, he has taken the time to explain the entire process. He's passionate about what he does, and that shows in his work. Two thumbs up!

I was on a business trip to San Francisco when my (usually reliable) IBM Thinkpad slowed to a crawl and started trying to sell me antivirus software. I knew something was wrong, as it kept pushing for a credit card number, so I consulted old faithful (http://yelp.com) and called Computer Courage. A friendly, real person (Beth) picked up the phone and instantly reassured me that the virus could be removed, the data could be saved, and that she could get me back up and running before my trip home. For $150 flat they offered me a simple solution which would fix my computer and bring it back to normal.
I dropped off the computer, and nervously awaited a call back. Within 24 hours, Beth called me back to tell me that the virus was gone and that I could come in to pick up my computer. Upon my arrival I received an explanation of what had happened and how I could prevent it again in the future (seems it may have been Skype-related).
In a world of horrible customer service and unfair pricing Computer Courage is a diamond in the rough. They fixed the problem exactly as promised, all while keeping it simple. The computer runs great and I haven't had any virus issues since.

I came here to fix a problem which turned out wasn't even really a problem. The service I received was excellent . A woman named Beth was kind enough to,
1. Show me that my problem was with my cord and not my computer.
2. Search online for me to find where I could obtain a new cord and for how much.
3. Refer me to a place where I might be able to get one.
When I explained I had papers to write and really didn't have the time to wait for shipping, she not only looked in their store to see if they had the cord but when over to the other computer place in the building for me, found a someone who had one and showed me to his office where I got exactly what I needed.
If I ever have an actual computer problem I will for sure be coming back here. -

Developers who don't talk down to you and stay within your budget? Yep, that's these guys. My husband and I use them frequently for small and large jobs, and they're terrific with both. I know they have lots of other clients, but when I call, I honestly feel like I'm their one and only. No telephone black holes or unresponded-to emails here!
My husband and I have learned that if we're struggling with something in the code, we just call Computer Courage instead of trying to fix it ourselves. The expertise and time saved are worth every penny for us. Whether you need technological expertise to plug a few coding holes or complete end-to-end development, these are your guys (and girls). -

I really like this place, they can fix anything. I do agree that it is difficult to find a good place to get your computer repaired, just as it's hard to find a good mechanic. Prices are very reasonable and turn around time is great. Their customer service is also very good and without the Nick Burns company computer guy sarcasm. This is a great place for anyone with a technical problem, whether you're a student or a professional. I'm much happier with my laptop now. Thank you, computer courage!

Unlike most web developers, I look forward to working with Computer Courage every time I have the opportunity. We have collaborated on a seasonal project over the last few years and it has been a joy.
The staff is very attentive and accessible, they are whizzes with Wordpress (maybe one of the best site building tools out there these days), and their pricing is very competitive and scalable - I've never felt up-sold on something I didn't need.
Overall, when you work with Computer Courage they feel more like colleagues rather than just another vendor.
I highly recommend them for website needs big and small. -

So the reason I made it to Friday in one piece this week is because of Computer Courage.
On Monday morning I went into my office, pushed the big on button on my desktop, and started to make my daily cereal and tea. Oddly, my dear desktop did not begin to sing it's little Bill Gate/Microsoft song.
Uh, oh.
Within a twenty minutes my dear tech-savvy friend had arrived to find me eating raisin brain and attempting to cope with the fact my professional life in a box was not turning on. He opened it up, found lava-like dust, and dangling heat sinks. Heat sinks? How about my heart sinks?
Before he could begin explaining my options, I began to freak out. I needed my data. My data...............
So, three hours later, (Yes sometimes you just have to give up and go to lunch with people that love you when your computer doesn't wake up on Monday morning.) , I was led by Yelp to the multiple reviews of beleaguered thesis and paper writers as well as regular Berkeley folks that had already found Computer Courage.
I called at 4:45PM and then actually received a call back at 4:57PM from the phenomenal Beth. She told me CC could come to me, or I could come to them in the AM. She told me everything was going to be okay. Ah, I went home and went to sleep. I could not even make eye contact with my desktop.
The next morning I jumped out of bed and took my desktop to CC at MLK and Virgina (Bonus points for being in the neighborhood of my beloved Montessori elementary school as well as for having a SUPER diverse staff of techies--- yes so diverse, I, a Berkeley-borne and raised person, was impressed.). Beth told me it was okay to put the desktop down. (Yes, I was literally clutching it too my chest.) She said it maybe the power supply or the mother board and CC would call me as soon as they knew.
The next day I just happened to be in the neighborhood at the BAR office. I stopped by and found Adam sitting with my dear desktop's remains. He reported the motherboard was melted, BUT the data was alright!
Oh yeah! My data! My data! My data! (I promise, I promise I will back up for the rest of my life!)
He popped it into a case. Barely flinched when I started writing notes on his business card and laughed at my joke that I could now store my data under my pillow. Little does he know.........
I was able to pay with VISA---their first official customer to charge it, arrange for the remnants of my dear desktop to be reused/recycled, and on my way in less than 24 hours. That' what I am talking about.
All I can say is TGIF and TG for CC. -

I ran across Adam through Berkeley Parents Network and my company has been using him for all of our Tech needs. We have now been using Adam and his crew for going on 3 years.
He and his crew are sufficent, professional, and make it easy to understand the complex computer issues that arise on any given Monday. Very personable and easy to deal with.
Not only do we use Adam for our work related computer issues, but we have expanded to most of the employees personal home computers and we recommend him to our clients and friends who also give positive feed back after having their computers serviced by Computer Courage. -

One of our computers at the gallery died a quick, unexpected death over the weekend. Sad, but these guys rocked! All data saved thanks to David and Adam. They are very reasonably priced and were so easy to work with. We have a few things to tighten in the office and plan on working with this neighborhood biz again. They have a lot to offer!

I've had the pleasure of working with Computer Courage (mainly Dave, Adam, and Beth) for a little over 2 years now, and am happy to say that they are our primary IT service provider (I work for a small network- and internet-intensive business). They are honest, efficient, and realiable. They are experts in their domain and if something falls outside of it, they'll tell you and try to refer you to someone better-equipped to handle your situation. Even after we moved from Berkeley to SF they've been just as responsive, traveling to the city a couple of times of a month to take care of us (sometimes on short notice). I'd recommend them to any small business in need of reliable IT service and support.

Every once in a long while, you come across a business that has everything going for it, and in the world of computer repair, Computer Courage is a true jem.
The week of finals, my external hard drive died, and after reviewing the positive (and fully accurate) Yelp reviews for Computer Courage, I came frightened and panicked to their door cradling my hard drive.
Beth was everything I could have asked for, straightforward, clear, realistic and so so kind, a rare quality indeed. Within the hour, Beth was on the case, and later I found out that my data was saved, and I would have my data transferred to a new hard drive (my spare) by the next day, for a very reasonable $100.
I cannot give a high enough recommendation for Computer Courage. Not only are their repairs speedy, informed and cost effective, but the staff is incredible, and you leave with a overall good feeling, which is the last thing you expect in a time of computer tragedy.

I usually review restaurants. I like food. I know wine. I understand service. I appreciate value. With computers, I am a heavy, albeit, unsophisticated user. In fact, I run a virtual company that can not exist without our computers, the Internet and remote connectivity. That is where Computer Courage comes in. They set me up and have kept me running. The set up is easy, a lot of vendors can do that. Where the rubber meets the road is when there are problems. Computer Courage fixes them all, competently and quickly. From the simple (i can't get the printer to print), to the complicated (computer just crashed!!!!). They know the technology. They understand my needs. They provide excellent service. They hold my hand in those anxious moments of need. I will not use anyone else....

I found Computer Courage through its amazing reviews on Yelp and I was more than impressed. I called first and they told me to bring my computer right in. I met with Adam who took amazing care of my Dell. It's a little bit older (4 yrs, ancient for a computer really) and he helped me to figure out what was worth fixing and what wasn't. He didn't try to do a million things to the computer just to charge me more. I got the First Aid which cost $150 and worth every penny. My computer runs so much better now and I feel good about keeping it for another few years. Thank you!
