I would suggest these guys to anyone needing service on their Macs.
They replaced my trackpad as I waited - it must've taken them only 30 minutes to completely disassemble and reassemble my computer. Friendly, professional, know what they're doing. -

The screen on my MacBook was not working and Computer Center of Hayward identified the problem quickly and resolved my dilemma. I am able to use my Mac again and I was vey pleased with my service. I definitely will use them again in the future and recommend them to anyone who has issues with their laptops and computers.

The disk drive on my macbook pro stopped working so applecare referred me to Computer Center. When I called they said I could bring it in right away. Chris helped me as soon as I walked through the door. He said what was probably wrong with it before he even opened up the drive and I disagreed with him but he turned out to be right! I had a label from one of my discs stuck in the drive. He removed it and had it working in 10 minutes. The whole experience could not have been better. Way more helpful than the experiences I've had at the genius bar that's for sure.
Thanks again Chris!! Will definitely be seeing you in the future. -

So my little man (under 2 years old), decided to step on my top of the line 17" unibody macbook pro and destroy my lcd screen. I was completely crushed, not only because it was my fault (I left it sitting on the floor) but the fact that it was only 5 months new and still under warranty.
Being the google researcher I am, I found that it would cost me $900 to get the top half of my laptop replaced if I went to Apple or http://macrepairs.com - ack! So I decided to snoop around and look for an LCD replacement instead. I was able to find a screen replacement for my specific model online for $105 shipped. phew! I thought... but then I was like, who the heck is going to install it for me? I was thinking about doing it myself but thought, well, if I screw it up, it'll void my warranty. So I went ahead and found an apple service provider on the apple website. Punched in my zip code and Computer Center popped up on the top of my screen. I called and spoke to Ross and explained to him my situation. He said it would cost $100 and that it would have a 1-2 hour turnaround time. Wow, really?
I called around a few other places, one being Fry's since they were also on the list of Apple Service Providers. They quoted me $150 for installation and a turn around time of about a week. Of course, I decided to go with Computer Center - not just cuz of the price, but the location (5 miles closer to home).
The service was excellent, the price was right and the best part was, I got to pick it up before the end of the day. Thanks Ross! You're my hero! -

When my Dell XPS 400 system wouldn't turn on one day, I thought it was over. After over a year of procrastination (my bad) and during that time having bought a newer system, I decided to take it in and have it checked out, instead of it being a giant paper weight in my room.
After reading the reviews here on YELP and having passed by their location numerous times on the corner of Mission and Jackson, I decided to take my system over there. As soon as I got out of the car and was carrying the tower (which can be heavy) towards the entrance, there was Chris who was ready to help me with the door open :D He had me place the system on the work bench by the entrance and went to work.
He took a look at it after I explained the issue, checked the power supply, let me know that there maybe a possibility that one of the capacitors on the mother board may have over heated cause it was 'bulging'. But the good news was that it was a bad power supply *whew* and not the mother board frying that some people on some web forums said it might be. Took only about 30 mins for him to put new power supply and clean out the inside of the system of dust that had collected from sitting dormant for a year. During that time I waited I checked out their museum of 80's Apple computers and early 90's Power Books. Chris returned with the system, turned it on and boom it was working again :)
Will defiantly be back if ever have an computer issue in need of a repair again! -

I'm just adding another 5 star review for this amazing place.
I had a power chord emergency.. Half way through my GIANT work project my Dell AC chord took a crap.. and I had 1 hour until my computer died!
I googled this place and ran right over. They were extremely helpful and calmed me down in my time of stress. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Chris is a fabulous employee, and I'll never go anywhere else. -

I had an emergency with my laptop, in that the power cord port became loose, and my laptop could not be charged. I took my laptop to this wonderful place-they were able to fix my problem that day (as I was there before their "fix-it" guy started his shift).

Fantasgreat. I called for a quick question on my laptop, and they were upfront and honest about the issue in detail, even though they didn't think they would be able to help. And on my second experience with them they took my old laptop that I thought had one foot in the grave and for $80 bucks ( I expected to pay WAY more) they not only fixed my main issue, but did numerous other fixes I didn't even expect were fixable and now my laptop runs like new. Fantasgreat, I emphasize again.

OK. My computer is back today and running at cheetah speed. If it starts to stutter, I will be back to amend my review.
I have to say, I have to say--previously, I took laptops to a couple of not-to-be-mentioned local dealers with not so good results. HIGHER prices and I ended up with malfunctions. One place in Fremont was SO snooty and merely tried to sell me a new computer, haughtily sneering at my "old computer" (which was a mere 4 years old, mind you!)
These guys...well...they were just so low key, so straight forward, didn't make me feel like a total ass, didn't try to sell me anything extra!!! (woot!), and my laptop is running like a Ferrari.
They transferred over all my data from a f****ed up laptop, fixed this one...and charged me a cool $100 for the trouble.
They have been in business since 1987 (I *think*) and are in a very prominent, easy to park location. Although there are only a handful of reviews here, I surmise that their longevity is due to their competent service.
Highly recommend! -

Ross has worked on a couple older machines for me. Recently my computer at work decided not to start. No power. I called Apple and set up an appointment at the genius bar (5:30 pm was the earliest available.), but I was going to lose a whole day of work and since the computer was over 3 years old, it was no longer covered under the Apple Care warranty.
I thought I would give CCoH a call and see what they could do. I dropped the machine off around 11:00 am. Ross called me around 3:00 and had replaced the power unit and battery (at a reasonable price). I had my machine back in the office, up and running before I would have even got to my previously scheduled Genius Bar appointment. (And I KNOW I would not have had my machine back for at least 3 days.)
So thanks Ross. I appreciate the fast turnaround. Since CCoh is an authorized Apple Service Provider, I think you can get your "under-warranty" computers repaired there as well. I bet you can save some time going to Ross first. -

I will drive 30 minutes out of my way to this shop. I know the repair will be done right the first time.

After a less than satisfactory experience at the Hillsdale Apple Store, the Apple rep provided me with several other authorized service options; one of which included Computer Center of Hayward.
I've driven by this place countless times and their central location is handy if you live in the Hayward/Castro Valley area. I was immediately helped and in no time Ross was working on my Macbook Pro even though it was supposed to be his lunch break! It was definitely refreshing to receive such great service. They have a great crew of knowledgeable techs which is more than can be said about a lot of computer shops or big box stores.
Next time your Mac or PC is acting up give these guys a call! -

was a month b-4 christmas, and my computer went down ,only n safe mode could i get around. So i called da center and asked what it could be.They said bring it n and we will see, sounds like adware or spyware 2 me. i thought it would take a day 2 see their way though, but they had 2 call 4or5 code blues. it was in a coma, dazed and confussed. but with handy hands and a clever minds they had it running faster than a cat could lick his behind. So if your computer gets alittle sick, call da doctors at da computer center lickie split..

Well, I had always gone to the Apple "Genius" bar to get my Mac troubles addressed for the following reasons:
1. I thought they were the best/only ones who could quickly honor my Applecare plan
2. I believed they were staffed by "geniuses"
3. I was seduced by the ambiance of the store with its big white counters and glowing white walls into thinking it was the height of tech brilliance and service.
Well I was wrong on all 3. Any authorized service center can honor your Applecare just as quickly and effectively. I found that the "geniuses" at the Apple store lamely answered my dilemmas 80% of the time with "go back back home and do a system reinstall." I also realized that the slick look of the Mac store is entirely unconnected to the slickness of their service.
So I decided to give my nearby Computer Center of Hayward a try. Wow! Great personalized service and no snooty runarounds from self-professed geniuses. Ross, the main tech guy there, has resolved several dilemmas that had all the Apple geniuses entirely stumped. From my iMac and Macbooks to my Time Capsule, he has consistently solved problems above and beyond my expectations. And to top it off he really respects your time as a customer. He arranged the timing of things so I would be without my computer for the shortest time possible and got it back as soon as possible.
After going to him, I realized that there is never any need to go back to the Apple Genius bars. I'm glad I finally figured that out and I'm glad CCOF and Ross are close by to me. If you go to them you are in good hands. :) -

Southern Alameda County Apple computer folks, forget the Apple Stores and check out the great customer service at the Computer Center of Hayward. I own an ibookG4 laptop that's four years old now. Apple's basic business philosophy is "you will buy a new computer every 3 years and just to make sure we won't provide you with any customer support for your "vintage" model". (hmm, sounds a lot like the "other" computer monolith)
A year ago I took my "old" laptop to a Genius Bar appointment in Emeryville to investigate getting my memory increased and OS upgraded. What a waste of time. They took a few minutes looking at my hard drive size, memory used etc and said, "you should just buy a new computer, you'll be better off".
Not in a position time or money wise to follow their friendly advice, I put it all off until Apple forced my hand recently by the implementation of "Mobile Me". Being behind in Operating Systems and Browsers, I no longer had access to my mac mail or much of anything else, in spite of the fact that I pay them for the service.
Phone calls to the Apple Store did me no good. Luckily in the midst of my anger I remembered the Computer Center of Hayward.
Fast Forward; for far less than the price of a new computer my laptop is now in great shape. I have a lot more memory, my OS is now current and next month I'm going to have them install a new, faster hard drive. I also bought a web camera from them and a few other gizmo's. They sell all the latest Apple models, have a lot of accessories and can order anything.
The customer service there is fantastic! Ross, the owner is closer to a Mac genius than the yuppie snobs at Emeryville and freely shares his knowledge.
So, take that Apple; I'm giving my money to a small locally owned business that actually provides customer service if you want to KEEP the computer you have! -

I have been to the computer center on several occasions. I have never been disappointed. Just today I brought in my gateway/windows 7 computer. The machine apparently misfired on getting an update. The system would boot up, then windows would appear, then reboot in an endless cycle. Bill spent about 20 minutes with the computer at the front desk, did some troubleshooting, and now it works fine. I asked him how much? He said no charge. Now that's a shop worth patronizing!

Ross is the patron saint of computers. I was going crazy because we had fleas ALL OVER our house, so I vacuumed every surface I could find, including the keyboard of my Mac Powerbook. Guess what? The keys come off fairly easily. One of 'em was in the vacuum cleaner bag. Long story short, I get ahold of the two loose keys, bring my laptop to Ross, he fixes it FOR FREE and has it back to me in 2 hours. Unbelieveable. Amazing customer service. Sweet people.

I took in my computer because the screen casing was literally falling off. I showed the guy (sorry, forgot your name) it and he re-screwed everything and added missing screws for free! If I had waiting any longer my screen would have broke or gotten even more damaged.

My daughter attends CSUEB. I sent her here after I got a phone call saying my computer is dead what do I do?! Her computer was fixed within 24 hours for a very reasonable price. They even did some free work that was under Apple warranty.
