I happened upon this new addition to the nabe while I was strolling down the beach. What was once my old video store (Video Cafe) had morphed into a salon featuring Aveda, my hair-product brand of choice. After chatting with the woman behind the counter and buying enough product to last me through the next ice age (closer than we think), I realized I may have finally found the place to get my hair straightened -- something my regular stylist couldn't do due to "insurance" reasons.

So, without a recommendation to go on, I booked an appointment. The process took eons, which I knew it would, but my stylist, Catherine, was a good sport, even overlooking the fact that I was running behind due to a pile-up on the 405. Over the course of the next few hours, I learned that Catherine was actually the owner of the salon, which made me appreciate my discovery even more.

When I was done, I was quite pleased. But the real trial came over the next week or so, when friends by the dozens kept complimenting me on my hair. It's now been almost three months and people are still asking me what I did to get my hair looking so good. Was it expensive? Hell, yeah. But it was worth every penny, and I certainly be going back.
