I went in the other night to this place and ordered an old fashioned... A skinny black haired girl hands me a jack and coke with what I can only imagine was grenadine in it. I wish I was pretty and didn't have to know what I was doing. I've talked to other people who live in the area, and i've heard the same sort of things happen.  Not a place to go if you want a good drink.  more of a place to go if you want an over priced adios to wash down the huge bowl you just smoked in the parking lot.

Places like this could be so cool, but it just feels like they don't really know what they are doing.  the bar was sort of crowded, music was the same as every where else, but for some reason they don't have bud light.  they have jack red-neck daniels but not bud light.

They used to have good food from what i remember, but when i looked at the menu just for fun, everything that i remember them for was taken off the menu.  no more tater tots, or pigs in a blanket.  instead you can get chicken fingers!  dang commonwealth, at least before your menu was original.  I'm not saying i know how to run a bar i'm just saying if something is working then you should stick to it.  especially when times are tough.  anyway give it a shot some night, but don't expect much.

Rude security especially the bald light skinned latino guy. He has to demand authority at work because he doesn't get any at home.

Funny story I should mention: My straight friend (I hope) was pretending/joking to hit on me inside the bar and that same security came up to him and was like I don't accept that shit around here... yadayada. Anyways that foo was an asshole... a big hairy smelly one.

Their drink specials aint that great.... drinks are weaker than my biceps. When people are drinking, I would always recommend the liquid cocaine.

I really digg the interior of the bar... looks modern and but not too chessy. Bartenders are sometimes nice... I guess haha. Even though I don't dance (I'm a gangster.. I lean wit it, rock with it) the dance floor is small compared to some of the surrounding bars. Maybe not that much smaller just more narrow... presumably like my exgf new bfs penis.

I had the BEST birthday celebration here last week!!!

I normally hate going to clubs and especially think that getting a table is the biggest waste of money of ever - typically bouncers are super rude meat-heads and waitresses come around once every hour if that. Commonwealth Lounge is the exact opposite!

The guys at the door were super polite all night to me and my guests - nobody ever had to even wait a minute in line. The waitress was frequently at our table throughout the night making sure everybody had a drink and even brought tons of water at the end of the night to make sure everyone had a chance to sober up.

    Even the dj kicked ass!

So even though I normally hate going to clubs, I loved the Commonwealth Lounge. I just wish the owners/managers of other clubs would read this and take a lesson on how to turn their douche-factories into fun places to go.

This place is wack! They ran out of certain entrees w/o telling us b4 hand... When I asked the waitress what she recommended she hesitated and said to get the fried foods! WTF!?! Anyway... The Rib Eye tasted like crap! I should have went to Stubriks next door to eat a REAL Rib Eye Steak! Tacos tasted like crap too! The cooks back there need a lesson from Robert Irvine... No flavor in their food whatsoever! Drinks way overpriced! It's like they think this place is like Vegas or LA... Hello!?! It's freakin' Fullerton... Then when the nite life begins they make a line outside for entry! And there's nobody inside... So gay! And they bring out the dress code enforced sign! This place is a joke! They also charge $25 a head to chill at a table area.... Please!?!  Better off walking around in this small joint and marinating ur drink in the ice....

Go here at your own risk! You'll find out ur wasting your money!

I'm spoiled by my "go everywhere wearing khaki longshorts, T-shirt and flip-flops" lifestyle in Huntington Beach. I don't get out often these days and after my recent break-up with my gf, I needed to switch gears.

Then Thursday came and my buddy said, "DTF?" and I said "even if it has to be date rape."  He then pauses in the awkward silence and said, "Fullerton dude...you're so gay" so my instinctive smartass remarks, "it's only gay if the teeth scrapes the shaft." What? I HAVE to wear pants AND shoes? I have to drive HOW FAR? This better be good.

I got to the door and the bouncer meant business. He was either stern regarless of who you are or just tired of his job and tired of the weekly staggering of drunken malingerers. I myself appreciate that though, him meaning business means he won't tolerate JerseyShore-esque behaviors like falling all over the floor as if you were cattle with mad-cow disease or bros with napoleonic complexes.

I gotta admit, you're a nice looking place and your set up is exemplary. I won't be looking for you at the regular, but I wouldn't mind coming back for special occasions.

Thanks to Ashley the waitress and my buddy Harry for tolerating me as I spiralled into my drunken, uninhibited, Doesn'tGAF, talk about nonsense to anyone and everyone alter ego.

Went here for new years with a group of friends and was stoked initially.  Was leary about the 3 star review, but i usually give a place a chance for the first time.   "VIP" area was right next to the bar and enclosed with 2 couches.  In the middle of our "VIP" floor was a section of sinking floor covered by carpet.  Decided to overlook that and pray that I didn't roll an ankle.

Server was tentative throughout the night especially when it came time for the bill.  She decided to give herself a $100 tip at the end of the night on a $500 bill.  On top of that decided to double charge us for a previously paid bill without being given a copy of the receipt.

It's understandable that a company tries to make as much money as possible on a major holiday, but to do it this way is just unethical.

Double check the bill when deciding to leave!!! Good luck.

Drinks sucked, music sucked, crowd was old!  Worst martini list ever, nothing sweet!  After 1 drink, we left.  Only cool thing were the blue lights behind the bar.

Minimum good bar requirements weren't met = drinks, music, crowd, vibe; 1 out of 4.

Its loud. It's really, really loud. The crowd is...at least not my type.

Drinks are horrible and expensive considering what you get. Unless you look like a total jock or stripper, don't expect to get any bar service.  I stood for roughly 15 minutes, making eye contact, gesturing at the bar tender, and even initiating the ol' "I'll have a...." just to have my attempts ignored.

When I finally did get a bartender to serve me a drink I ordered a double vodka on the rocks. I got a single vodka with a splash of Redbull because he had a left over open can. When presented my card I asked to leave it open and acknowledged what I said,  he decided to run my card and close my transaction.  Not the end of the world but annoying nonetheless.

Getting in was a pain. I've been here once before and the experience wasn't mind blowing.  I'd much rather drive to Santa Monica for a night out at The Room then to make a local run Commonwealth.

Mind you this isn't really my scene, perhaps as I actually enjoy conversing rather than yelling a few words and gesturing what is going. I probably didn't help the situation by dressing like Mark Zuckerberg compared to the crowd.

In any case...I know there is fire code, but does anyone else feel like punching the bouncers every time they start "landing planes". You have got to find a better way to do that.

Bummer.  Commonwealth used to be one of my favorite places to eat.  Their flavors were unique and well thought out, at reasonable prices.  I loved their pesto flatbread pizza, their seared tuna, steaks, and their burger.

Just went back for the first time in a long time and the place was empty, service was slow, and....the burger was overdone.  We were told the chef was new and the staff also didn't remember some of the older menu items.

Commonwealth has changed and lost its mojo.  :(

I don't think i've ever been this upset before over expectations being improperly set.  One of the promoters there who go by a nickname of "Bobby Soul" is one of the most rudest human beings alive.  Upon walking in, my girlfriends and I were ecstatic about Steve Arington Playing that night and it was advertised free on the website as well as other blogs.  we were welcomed by mr. bobby soul informing us the event was $5.  I had pulled up the website info on my iphone where it was stated free and he quickly called my friends and I cheapskates and we wouldn't buy drinks anyways? Are you effing kidding me?

    1. We have vaginas, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that having girls in a club is good

    2. it was falsely advertised on multiple online outlets and this guy still wouldn't budge

    3. He kept informing me that Steve Arington and Dam Funk don't perform for free, when I quickly corrected him that its free on Monday nights at Funkmosphere, his friend to his right quickly agreed and said "Well, she has you there"

If he had calmly apologized instead of wildly jumping to horrendous assumptions, maybe the outcome may have not been so extreme, but you had "Bobby Soul" Working the front door.

Look, the whole point of this wasn't to get in for free, the point was, it was improperly advertised and you must abide by the customer's expectations.  The customer is always right.

Because of this, we quickly informed masses of our friends to boycott this event because of one tiny experience that could have be turned around by a sincere apology instead of insult.

SHAME ON YOU Commonwealth Lounge to let a whack monster such as "Bobby Soul" to run a nightly event. He put a bad name on Stonesthrow and and Commonwealth Lounge.

Swanky, sexy decor, we were geared up for the Burlesque performance (first Weds of the month). Made reservations and arrived early. Seated in a booth. Wish I had been aware of exactly where the show would take place because we couldn't see a single thing.

We had some apps (pigs in a blanket, some other decent munchies, lots of wine and cocktails) so we had a good time amongst ourselves but the crappy seating made us feel very unimportant. Waitress barely came around.

I would hesitate before going back due to the lack of customer service.

Love, love, love their happy hour on Thursdays-from 4pm to 10pm! Half off appetizers, and you just have to try the baked brie, $5 wine, $5 cocktails, and $5 beer-try Oskar Blues. Stay away from the Monte Cristo-it is just too sweet and too oily, but it does come with some of the best prepared tater tots ever! I really enjoyed the BBQ Chicken flatbread-it had just enough kick in the sauce.

As for the decor, you can't go wrong. It has plenty of seating in the bar, which is LED backlit with changing colors for a uber cool effect. It truly reminds me of a "public house"/pub and is a quintessential "lounge."

A must for any Fullerton night out!

Usually we hit this spot after we are done drinking next to Florentine's.  Nice little chill place to go and hang out, dance and sure drink.

The place itself is nice.  Walking in, passing the hall, you come across this cozy, little spot with a bar to the right, dance floor with live DJ in the middle, and lounge seats to the left.  Defiantly a place to take a date because it gives you that bar lounge feel, but also a little intimate feel at the same time he he.

The drinks are fair, I suppose.  Like I mentioned before, normally I would do my drinking somewhere else in Fullerton and come here to get my dance on.  An AMF can cost you about, if I remember correctly cause I'm usually drunk by this time ha ha, $8 I believe.  Not bad, but not the cheapest around.  One a good note though, they don't cheat you out on the Alcohol.

Last but not least, the music.  Normally they would play hip hop here.  Good music to get close to the date or random person you're trying to spit game at.  Sometimes they will throw in a little Top 40, but normally its hip hop.  The people are chill there, it is DTF, and the bartenders there are nice.

Delicious food and beautiful interior decorating. Service was pretty good, except I asked twice for water. Very empty inside, for a Saturday. I ordered the filet (cooked perfectly with voluptuous mashed) and the boyfriend ordered the seared ahi (special that evening with delicious brown rice).

Only downside was the table behind us with a drunk girl screeching about why Lady Gaga is a sellout. We asked to move tables and that was handled very gracefully. :)

How do you relax after a six hour drive from the Bay Area?

We had been awake since 6AM that day keeping busy in the Berkeley area and by 9PM we were ready to relax. So we ended up here because a favorite band of ours was playing and several friends from LA had made the trek to the Lounge.

The place was really nice and provided for a great atmosphere to just chill, drink and dance. It turned out to be a great place to listen to the band and, again, unwind after hours of driving. Since the stage is quite small, it made it more intimate and fun.

The drinks were also good and there was plenty of seating available to hang.

If ever in the area, I would stop by again.

Let's talk food! Prime Dip Sliders are shaved prime rib with havarti cheese on toasted sourdough rolls with horseradish aioli and barbecue jus for dipping. The prime rib is super-tender and melts in your mouth. The barbecue jus is bold and full of flavor. The horseradish aioli has just right amount of heat vs. creaminess and has a good flavor. Both sauces complement the sliders perfectly. Thumbs up!

The Ahi Tuna Tower is sushi-grade ahi tossed with diced cucumber and sesame dressing layered with avocado and crispy wonton skins. This is absolutely fabulous! The ahi is so fresh and melts in your mouth. The subtle combination of ahi and avocado is outrageous - luxurious, creamy, and just plain sexy! The wonton skins make excellent serving vessels. The crunch adds a nice texture to the dish. The sprouts add a slight bitter yet spicy bite! The sauces from the sweet soy to the wasabi to the chili sauce give you different experiences. Have fun and don't be afraid to experiment with this one! Thumbs up!

The Monte Cristo is black forest ham, roasted turkey and Swiss cheese on sourdough, battered, and fried, dusted with powdered sugar, served with strawberry preserves and tater tots. This is the best Monte I have ever had. It wasn't too greasy and had the right amount of meats & cheese on the inside. This all-in-one calms both your sweet & salty cravings simultaneously. Love those tater tots! Brings you back to school lunch days, no French fries, but we had Tater Tots! The tots are crispy and just fun to eat. Warning: you will probably need a doggie bag for this one. It's huge! Thumbs up!

On Tuesdays, Commonwealth Lounge & Grill has a $10 Garlic and Parmesan Crusted Prime Rib special served with mashed potatoes and honey-glazed baby carrots. You just can't beat the price. We're talking Las Vegas prices! It's a healthy 8oz cut and together with the potatoes and carrots make a great meal. The crust is super-flavorful and au jus is made with tender-loving care. Thumbs up!

Did you save room for dessert? The Cookie Monster is a house-made chocolate chip cookie served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and Ghirardelli chocolate. The first word that pops into your head will be "WOW!" The cookie is soft baked and gooey with chocolate. If you linger too long, the ice cream melts and becomes a creamy vanilla sauce that takes the cookie to a whole new level. It's the fad dessert now and they have the best ever (Sorry BJ's and Black Angus). Move over Red Velvet Cake, there's a new sheriff in town! There's just something about this cookie that reminds me of coming home after school when my mom would make Toll House cookie bars. It has a scent and flavor reminiscent of home. You'll have to try it and you'll see what I mean. The presentation is rustic from the cast-iron skillet to the wooden plank used as a table coaster. Thumbs up!

Came here on a Thursday night around 10pm and meh, kinda sucked in my opinion. Place picked up shortly after we got there and I suppose it just wasn't my kind of atmosphere and people. The service was good tho and they have lots of cool drinks. The biggest reason I dinged them is because it smelled inside like a freaking bathroom... as if somebody just mopped w/ a dirty moppy water or something. Really didn't do it for me... if you're in the area, I'd go someplace else...

    **Review for Happy Hour only**

    HH: Monday - Sunday, 4pm-7pm

A Sexy venue to unwind and have a cocktail or two after work. Well cocktails and beers are from $4 and select martinis & wines are $5. I had vodka cranberry and it was deliciously strong.

Select appetizers are $6 during Happy Hour. I had Fuji Rolls and Beef Satay. Flavor-wise, both appetizers were more Californian rather than Asian.  Both appetizers were okay.  Fuji Rolls tasted like any other rolls served in an American bar.  Beef Satay was tasty but the brown rice that came with it was a little bit undercooked.

Although I'm not a fan of the food, Commonwealth Lounge makes strong drinks and their servers are always nice and friendly. 4 stars.

Great spot in DTF, especially for happy hour.

Dark, relaxing, hip place to have a drink and some good food. Happy hour is btw 4-7 and 10-12 (even later on the weekends) offering $4 wells & drafts, $5 wines & appetizers.

I had the French Onion Soup which was pretty good, Pigs in a Blanket with a flakey and fluffy puff pastry, and a tender Prime Rib Beef Dip Sliders. My friends had the Monte Cristo & Ribeye which they all really enjoyed. With the Fullerton locals Monday discount of 50%, this meal was a steal.

We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and down to earth. I would definitely come back to try the Tuesday special of garlic and parmesan crusted prime rib for $10.

Commonwealth must be a synonym for boring!

The layout of this place makes me wonder what they were thinking when they built it.  There's "velvet ropes" everywhere blocking off parts of the lounge that don't even make sense to block off.   Like the bar for example!  Ummm not to diss your business plan but I'm pretty sure a lounge makes the majority of it's money on the amount of alcohol it can sell...why would you want to make it harder for people to get to the one bar you have?

Not sure if it was just the night we went, but the DJ was pretty lame...only played old school stuff...which is fine....but not if  you're looking to get  your groove on.  If you want to just sit and drink I guess it would be OK.

A couple of us really wanted to leave here and go next door to the bar that looked like it was waaaay more fun (Bourbon's, I think?) but we were there for a birthday...and what the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets.

If it was my choice though, I definitely would have bounced after about two minutes.

I came here with my sis last Saturday night.  We were over all the spots we're used to and searching for somewhere new.  We walked by Slide Bar (never been) and it looked packed... Commonwealth did not seem as busy and there was no line which was great for us!  We walked in looking for the bar and found it... it was PACKED!!  And a bit weird... the bar is somewhat normal but the bartenders are somehow on a lower level to the bar so you are looking down at them... really weird.  Anyways, I was excited they had Heineken, even if only light, I'm a Heineken fan!  They also had Hef which was cool ;-)

The music was GREAT!!!!!  I LOVED it!!  The DJ somehow was able to mix some Stevie Wonder with some of the newer stuff ... good mix of new and old R&B which I absolutely LOVED!!  Plus some hip hop and even Adele but good mix ;)   I wish the dance area was bigger though because as with any place with good music, it's a bit hard to move but thankfully the crowd was nice and no violent girls trying to shove us or guys that try to get feisty too.

This place reminded me a bit of Little Temple in LA (music wise) except different crowd lol... more diverse here.  We'll definitely be back. :)

ps - They serve food here but it's somewhat hard to catch a waitress and I'm not sure how the tables work... by the time we arrived all the tables were taken but we stalked a waitress to the kitchen and ordered calamari.  For $5 not bad at all ;-)

I would give 3 1/2 stars for now since i was only there for an hour and had appetizers.

so this was my first time here, the layout of this place seemed kinda vintage style i guess? well that is for the ceiling and the photos on the wall. the bar looked pretty cool with the changing lights O_O . the place was pretty dark but you still can see.

there wasnt anyone there during the time i went around 5 ish? on a saturday.

I was there for the happy hour, Monday - Sunday 4pm-7pm and 10-12pm

The appetizers was good. I liked the pigs in a blanket and the baked brie.

    select appetizers are $6

After weeks of going to Tuscany's/Florentines all the time I was getting so bored and I almost lost all hope in DTF haha.  But I finally decided it was time to try somewhere new and I'm so glad I did!  Commonwealth Lounge is great! If you're looking to just chill/drink/eat and not have to dance in a sweaty little space like most DTF bars, this place is for you.

They have an amazzingggg $5 late night menu, basically all their appetizers that usually are $12-$14 are all $5 from 10pm to close.  I had the tuna tower and the sliders, which were both so goooood. I probably could have eaten about 10 more tuna towers!!  You get 3 sliders that were pretty good, but they come on the fattest buns ever, so they fill you up pretty quick.

Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't that crowded at all, but when my friends and I left, there was a pretty long line, so I'm guessing the capacity is small?  Regardless, come around 10pm, that's when all the late night stuff happens and you can get seated at the bar or at a booth.  All in all a pretty chill place with good food/drinks and service.

    Swanky place!

The inside is definitely a place that you want to meet some friends and have a few dirty martinis. Makes you feel a bit swanky just walking in. I hear it gets packed on the weekends, but when we went for our Tuesday Night Dinner Group it was pretty dead.

Tuesday night dinner special was $10 Prime Rib! This was not your typical Coco's Prime Rib Special, this was actually pretty flavorful. Wasn't expecting too much for the price, but my tastebuds were pretty content.

Fiance got the Monte Cristo Sandwich and since I never tasted one, I had to have a bite...I wanted to keep eating it after the first bite! Something about the deep fried sandwich smeared with jelly just made my tastebuds sing!! Salty, savory, crunchy, gooey, and sweet all in one bite. Just Delish! I could go on and on, but I need to talk about the tator tots. That's right, not fries but tator tots as a side. I haven't had them since 5th grade lunch. They were just as good, crispy outside, potato chunkiness (not too sure what else to call it) inside....YUM! Served with a side of chipotle aioli for dipping.

Unfortunately, service was pretty bad. It seemed to take forever for our drinks. I ordered water for goodness sake and that came out after everyone else at the table got their beers.  I know that we were a table of 7 and she automatically got an 18% tip, but come on at least act like you are trying. I could almost here her sigh when my fiance took a tad too long to decide on his beer. After we gave our order, the next time we saw her was about 20 mins later when our food came out. No acknowledgment on the fact that our food was taking forever. She finally brought over a carafe of water to me when the manager that was chit chatting behind the bar noticed I was tapping my fingers on the table and looking around for our waitress.

Due to the service, I think the only way I'll be back is if someone gave me a gift certificate. Sad because I really wanted to try one of their Dirty Martini's when I wasn't designated driver.

What was going on here Thursday night?...apparently not a whole lot.  It was supposedly "Ladies' Night," but about the only excitement to be found was a retirement party going on.  Cool looking venue for that sort of thing, but I'm not used to feeling like the youngest one in the bar as a 30-something.

The real issue with this place on this particular evening was the major ordering fail.  The response we kept getting from our waitress was "sorry, we're out."  My buddy Alex was denied twice on his beer selection, as well as a few Ladies' Night appetizer specials the ladies we were with tried to order.  Really?  It was only 8pm.  Not very good planning for a "specials" night in my opinion.

The appetizers we did try were good.  The pigs-in-a-blanket were a big hit.  The orange calamari (think Panda Express Orange Chicken, except calamari) was also tasty.

My review is for VIP reservations after hours lounge (which I canceled due to lack of customer service).
I was planning my b-day location for drinks with a group of friends 10-15 of us. I called this location on a Friday 3/18 left my contact information with the host, to my surprise no return. Tuesday evening I went in and spoke to Dominic. He quoted me the following for the section my the window next to exit door and furthest from the DJ & 2 sofas with 2 ottoman by the bar- minimum per person-$25 or Bottle service starting at $200 per bottle. Only minimum table would be for- private room with the TV ($500 minimum). He then got my info and advised me to sleep on it and call him back before Saturday 3/26 and advise him what section I wanted. He mentioned if he is not available I can speak to Marty (only other VIP manager)

Thursday Marty called me asking, if I still was interested in VIP reservations? (FROM MY INFO I LEFT FRIDAY!!) I then explained how I went in and spoke to Dominic. At first he was trying to say it was a busy night he already had several reservations so doesn't think I can just pick the section I want. I got a little upset and explained to him the whole situation, he then cut me off and said he "found" my reservation on the computer. He then went on to explain his requirements and pricing...

"$500 minimum for the section by the window. If I wanted to do minimum per person it would be $45" I mentioned how Dominic said $25. He said "only if you have Dinner he can reduce to $25. If I do bottles, he will REQUIRE me to purchase the $250 bottle & up not the $200" I told him how ridiculous this is.. They should have told me this to begin with not tell me 2 days before.

I called to cancel the night day and spoke to someone else and explained to him the situation. He stuck to Marty's rates and suggested I get there early and try to get a small booth which have a $250 minimum. What's funny is, my friend called Thursday to ask about the same booths and Marty quoted $200 minimum!

This place is a joke. This is not HOLLYWOOD. They are selling 750 ml bottles for $200!!! WTF!! really! Won't see me or my friends here for a long time!!!!

Yeah, I like your food, but don't advertise late night if you're going to stop serving early. The waitress went missing around 10:50, and then when she came back around 11:10, she informed us they stopped serving food at 11.

I was very sad to say the least. I guess late night menu is only SOME nights, but they do have specific hours for each night. Its supposed to be 10-12 Sunday nights, but I guess it wasn't yesterday. Boo.

this review is only for the club/bar.

the line to get into this place took longer than the other DTF joints.  luckily we had the girls in our group to talk to the bouncer and had us get to the front of the line.

this place was crackin on the Saturday we went.  the bar was packed and the dance floor was poppin. everyone was having a good time.  the dance floor was kinda small, and the bouncers on the dance floor were douchebags.  they kept saying we couldn't dance here and there....even if it was in the middle of the dance floor.  complete power trip.

Protip to commonwealth.... hire more bartenders.  wtf, 1 bartender working on sat night is not enough.  jesus christ, waiting for him was like waiting for your gf to get ready to go clubbing.  ya'll know beezies take forever in the bathrooms to get ready.  T_T

there's seats right in front of the restroom and there's oldies tv shows playing right outside the restroom.

Oh, they play the weirdest shit on the tvs right above the bar.  last time i was there, they played an asian masseuse dancing erotically to these japanese business men, and then a bunch of samurai came in and started t hack people to pieces.  yea, wtf.

PS:if i do come back here, i will try to get the secret secluded room next to the bar.  that space is legit.  i'm free to do whatever i want in that room and no one can see me or judge me.  there's a lot of naughty things i'd do in that room....  ;)  like read books and have a philosophical conversation with someone about the meaning of life.  yea, i'm a bad boy.

Went on 9/5/2011  with a party of eleven.  They were out of Clam Chowder, Were not able to make Flat Bread, and only had 4 Rib Eye Steaks available.  We ordered Five.  LOL other then that the food was good and Burlesque Show was great.

I hate the line "I really wanted to like this place," because it's now officially a Yelp cliche.

But truly - I really want to like this place. Not only is it swanky inside, with pictures of Sinatra on the men's bathroom, and Monroe on the women's, but there's a great screen playing old movies, it's got classy seating/booths, and a sunken bar area with bartenders that have always treated me right.

That being said, I rarely go into The Commonwealth. We're in Downtown Fullerton, and I get that you are trying to dress it up some, but turning away some of my friends when they aren't wearing a collared shirt is kind of lame... same goes for the guys who were cold and grabbed a hoodie out of the car, to go over their nice collared polo's or button-downs...

I think the only time I've liked going into The CW is when the Lakers were playing in the playoffs and The NBA Finals. Anything on tap was $2/pint, which was an awesome deal. Service has always been great, but I feel like some of the bouncers turn people off to the place with catchphrases that include: *Pull Rope on Back of Black Sportcoat*

    - "Hey tuck that in!"
    - "Sorry there's a cover, INSERT RAPPER HERE is playing tonight!"
    -  "Leave the hoodie here on the table in the hall."

All kidding aside. I'll return to The CW during afternoon hours. I don't ever go when it's packed, because I don't like waiting for drinks or "swimming" through people to get to the bar. Nice decor, decent Happy Hour meals + prices, good ownership, and nice tunes. Not my favorite place Downtown, but by no means do I hate it. Give it a coin toss and check it out for yourself.

*Not sure if it matters to you/your friends - no smoking patio. You're stuck inside, so better love it.
