Love the summer free concerts. Mumbo Gumbo last night. I was kinda meh at first, but then I moved up closer to the stage and then I could feel the groove. So I guess minus one star cuz the whole place can't feel the vibe. But then again, I never quite understand why you go to music if all you want to do is talk. Talk loudly, that is, since there is music.
There's water (aka a big lake) for water people and a playground for kids. And restrooms.
It's also a pretty nice place during the week to eat your lunch that you just got from nearby places like Fat Cat or Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen (inside New Moon Natural Foods). -

We went to the Farmers Market and so also experienced this beach for the first time.
Farmers Market -- it's very small, fitting the size of the parking lot. The produce looked amazing! We wanted to get breakfast and totally missed the pastry stand with coffee. Oh boo. Instead, we went with the over-priced, poorly executed crepe place. Sigh. And their iced coffees left a lot to be desired.
As for the beach, we came in the morning and so it was very nice and peaceful. It's a really small beach space and they had coyote decoys in the water. Only when we returned in the evening, sans decoys, did we see their purpose -- the lawn was covered in geese poop. Ugh.
The paved walkways are nice for a stroll but the beach leaves much to be desired. -

Beautiful park and very convenient to shops and restaurants in Tahoe City, but I could not give it more stars due to the "no dogs policy." Maybe I'm the weird one but my dogs are part of my family. I cleanup after them, train them to behave, and keep them healthy. I should be able to walk them through a public park.

One of my favorite public parks located at the confluence of Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River. A terraced park that starts up high by the shops and restaurants of Tahoe City then winds down paths filled with benches and public art to the waters of Lake Tahoe. On a clear day the views are breathtaking.
The planners did a wonderful job of creating different zones. Picnic tables and BBQs under the trees, benches spread throughout the park for romance and taking in the view, a great play structure including a huge boulder for jr. rock climbing and a beach (a little rocky) to dip your toes in the water. I would say the beach is actually the least desirable part of this park.
The one thing I find odd is that no dogs are permitted. This is perplexing because Tahoe in general is an incredibly dog friendly place. This is also the location for many events in Tahoe City, including live music on Sunday nights and Family Movie nights on Wednesday nights during the summer months. Enjoy!Listed in: Tahoe Time

This is a beautiful park right on the lake. It has a large playground divided up into 3 structures built for different ages, several restrooms, and a large beach and grass area with picnic tables.
Bonus: check out the first jail in the city (with lake view!) and first log cabin and learn a little about the history of the town. -

I wish I could give exactly half the amount of stars (2.5) because it is what it is...
It's a "beach" in every sense of the word, I suppose. It's very rocky - not comfortable AT ALL without sandals...and barely so with a towel between you and the "beach." It's also THE shallowest part of the Lake, so you have to walk FOR-EV-ER to actually "swim"...unless you're two.
I know they have free concerts on Sundays during the summer (until Labor Day), and there are also "movie" nights, but I feel the Lake gets pretty nippy by the time the movie rolls around and I've known absolutely none of the performers in the concert series.
The benefit to this park would be for the folks with children. There is a very large playground area almost RIGHT on the beach, and a large concentration of picnic tables, as well as a really neat barbeque area with six-or-so picnic tables slightly elevated above the bathrooms.
It's pretty much right IN Tahoe City, also, so it's within walking distance to anywhere in town. It's also right off of the paved bike/walk path that runs along the Lake. The (overpriced) Farmers Market in Tahoe City posts up in the parking lot here during the summer, also (every Thursday).
If you want a sandy beach or a beach with more comfort, look elsewhere (try Sandy Beach or the beach in Kings Beach). If you have children who love playgrounds, maybe you could just sit at a picnic table and take in the fresh air. Regardless, this isn't what I think of when I think of a beach, and I feel it's too shallow and rocky for adults.
