Incredible food. Try the seafood--it's cooked to perfection!
We only had one day and one dinner in Haines so I had to make a choice quickly. Based on reviews, I chose to come to the Halsingland and Also, I had driven past it and liked the med high location in Ft Seward. I called for a reservation, though this turned out to be a slow weekend so maybe I wouldn't have needed one. They were attentive and helpful and did reserve a nice table for me. If you can call way in advance for reservation, ask for the corner table next to the window for the best view of the harbor. Both my wife and I ordered the Halibut with Mango salsa and served on bed of potatoes. I'll include a photo if possible. Desserts are offered and we chose the pistachio creme brulee. The menu is limited but if all the items were as good as our Halibut then you can't go wrong. The owner himself served us, and he handled the dinner very well. They must be hands-on because he says his wife was the chef. I noticed he liked to chat with the guests and is knowledgeable about Haines. I'd go back here.
