Coos Bay / North Bend isn't exactly a major tourist destination, so your hotel choices are limited. Comfort Inn may be as good as it gets here.
Positives: friendly staff and easy check in. Large room, clean. Wifi is very good.
Not so positives: plain, not cozy. No microwave or fridge. a bit run down and a decided mildew smell, we had to run the fan all night and keep the windows open so that we could breathe. The walls seem bare, and inexplicably there are no privacy curtains for the windows. Yet another "non-smoking" hotel that encourages smoking right outside guest rooms. next to a shopping center, though many rooms are facing a central courtyard. And expensive: over $100 midweek in this town????

I had a free night, so I figured, what the heck! It's located in a mall, granted, a mall in North Bend OR is really different from a Mall in California, but that's cool too.
The front desk staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. Unlike some I've encountered, they treated me like I'd just won the lotto for using my free points vs a free loader like some places I've been.
The room was clean and spacious and had been recently remodeled with new linens. Everything was clean and tidy.
The breakfast was your typical Continental, with the edition of bake your own waffles. My only suggestion....heat the hardboiled eggs and maybe offer some mayo to go with them. Otherwise, they are kinda dry.
But as the former manager of some large chain hotels (Holiday Inn, Best Wester, Vagabond and Super 8), if that's my only complaint, you are awesome!
