Review from Christine R.
Fairfax, VA
This hotel went above and beyond my expectations of any place I think I would find in the city. I had unfortunately experienced my stay here under grim circumstances. I had to book something quick and if they accepted dogs even better well they did! Most places that are pet friendly are filthy as I've stayed in these places while going to Williamsburg (La Quinta Inn - don't ever go there, we got a complementary jerry curl in our tub!) anyways upon arrival checking in was a breeze and street parking was plentiful. They do offer hotel parking at $25/night but no need for that imo. Plus we were paying $50/night extra on top of the hotel charge for bringing our two dogs. The staff was SO friendly always smiling and had a great sense of humor. Every single one of them.
The surrounding area is what some might reference as "ghetto" but get over it. No one bothers you and everyone is friendly plus tons of great things within walking distance. There's even a park one street over. Yes it might be a bit industrial like but fret not, you won't get gunned down I promise.
One night after crawling back to the hotel late the night clerk asked if we were in room 102 and we said yes. He told us that people have been calling all night because our dogs were barking. We apologized and got worried but he said "dogs are dogs and they're going to bark" which really relieved me considering we were spending most of the days there with my family and attending funeral services. So I wasn't having the added stress of having to worry about finding another hotel.
The breakfast offered there was awesome! They had everything you could imagine. Literally. Even a waffle iron to make your own waffles. It was a nice dining area too, so it felt like you were a part of a bigger group eating together and it was just very home-y. I have no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. And actually will be staying here whenever we visit NYC. No more Manhattan hotels for us thanks. Plus allowing us to bring the dogs with us saves us BUNDLES on kennel costs.
Definitely worth the money. -

Stayed here for the night before my wedding... May 1st 2010.
Oh yea, it's a Holiday Inn Express now.
I'd expect more from such a well known brand.
I put my debit card down on both rooms I used to stay the one night. The rooms were paid for in advance through http://hotels.com with a different card.
One week after my stay, I was charged, to my debit card, approximately $180 for each room. Because of this unexpected charge, I incurred overdraft fees from my stupid bank. The hotel had no knowledge of the REASON for the charge because incidentals is $50.
That is what I was told the FIRST time I called. And when I asked to speak to the manager, I was told she was gone for the day. It was 4:30pm. Nobody was in charge afterward.
I called the next day and the "manager" was in a meeting. And my debit card was mysteriously no longer on file and no charges were viewable by the hotel.
Too bad my bank didn't get the memo and I've been going back and forth with my bank for a month now.
If the hotel would just refund my money in the first place then I would have been fine. -

You know when to whsiper "I pray it's not too ghetto" to yourself as you head to the hotel, you're gonna get something seriously ghetto.
This Comfort Inn is SERIOUSLY ghetto. Well, not really. the place itself is gorgeous, it's just the surroundings that are industrial. This ain't no place for smiling french tourists.
Once you get inside, it's beautiful. everything is brand new, the showers give great head (showerhead people, get your mind out of your crotch), and the beds are comfy. But, outside? Oy. The best part is if you want to park in their lot, the manager ties a cowboy kercheif over his face and stagecoach robs you for $24.
i don't know where these people get off adding Brooklyn Bridge to the name. The bridge is two and a half miles away. the only bridge nearby is the Gowanus overpass, and that leaks piss & concrete. -

Yeah, the area looks scary, but this hotel was nice, great flatpanel tv, all the basic amenities, CLEAN. The area is very industrial & you are (literally) on the wrong side of the tracks, but it's convenient with the LIRR & metro directly across the street.

Run do not walk away from this location. It is smack dab in the middle of a housing project. Not even close to the subway.

A good basic hotel. Nothing special except free wifi, and a really helpful staff. The free breakfast is quality too!

Ok. Not a comfort inn anymore. It's now a holiday inn express. So, I can no longer speak about the service, but I can still say its a great location downtown brooklyn.
