I decided to stay here the night before the 2017 Kansas City marathon / half marathon event. Like many runners and endurance junkies, a great night's rest is hard to come by. Or so I thought.
I found this hotel via hotels.com and decided to book this one for a Friday night on October 2017. This hotel property has all the hallmarks of a good stay without really breaking the budget. The Comfort Inn brand and the Choice Hotels is important that I know that the hotel brand is reliable for anything related to travel. The rooms I've stayed in are decently good and standard across all platforms and jurisdictions. Most important is the comfort, cleanliness, and safety. Can't be really be safe in a hotel room these days, but I felt comfortable here, especially with Vomfort Inn here in downtown Kansas City. For the most part though, the one night stay was good, but we didn't get to participate in the free continental breakfast on Saturday morning, as my friend and I had to go rock 13.1 miles near union station and all over downtown Kansas City. It is what it is really!
The overall experience here at this Comfort Inn downtown Kansas City was a good stay and a good experience, although it being still above average. I did enjoy the check in process, where the service was with a smile and definitely friendly. They asked if we were doing the (Kansas City) marathon the next morning, as I suspected that many people are staying here for that same purpose! It was cool that they asked, probably more so that I was wearing a marathon related top that evening anyway. This hotel property is located at 770 Admiral Boulevard in the heart of Kansas City downtown. They accept major credit cards, as well as looking at your driver's license upon check in. It's always fun to hear them remark about seeing a Hawaii driver's license for the first time. Classic. For the guests, there is private parking here for y'all who stay here. Although it is limited, best bet is to get here early and check in before spaces fill up fast for the night.
There is a cool dining area for the breakfast people, although I didn't partake in that during my stay. My friend and I were given a room with 2 queen beds, which were pretty good and comfortable. It came with a microwave and a mini fridge. The room was definitely clean and immaculate. Everything seemed to work well, including the television and the shower. For the most part though, I got my 7 hours of sleep and that was enough for 13.1 miles of fun the next morning. The bed was pretty comfortable and managed to fall asleep within 45 minutes. Not too shabby! Too bad I did not get a chance to lounge around in bed for fun. That would have been priceless and blissful too, but had work to do. The check out process was good and fast. For anyone who is looking for a cheaper alternative to hotels in the downtown Kansas City, consider this brand for your stay. You may be pleasantly surprise at how much bang you can get for your travel dollar.
4.0 stars for the overall experience. Safe, dependable, didn't break the bank, and most of all, comfortable for a fun night's sleep. Pleasantly surprised. 4.0 stars for the check in and out service.

I never thought I'd get to experience an establishment like that of American Horror Story Hotel -- but this did the job.
The walls are a dreary brown, the draperies are dated, there were stains on the wall. The hallways are super narrow, and the elevator seems dangerous. The rooms aren't the type you'd walk around without shoes or sit on the fabric furniture. One of the few upsides is that the bathroom was at least updated.
Oh, and they charge an extra $10/day for parking which is ridiculous. It's not near anything within walking distance so no one is actually going to park and walk somewhere. It's a sketchy area at night. My recommendation would be to spend a little more for a place centrally located, get more and feel comfortable where you rest for the night. This place isn't it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

BEWARE: CHARGES FOR PARKING!!! $12 A NIGHT !
I give this place 3 stars not because it's a dirty place to stay everything was very clean and satisfactory but because as of JANUARY 1,2019 they are charging you 12 bucks per night to park in their parking lot EVEN when you are staying there! Seriously ! Then when my husband told the girl the app still says free parking she acted like he was lying and took a screen shot and he proved her wrong. Because they should have changed it online already.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 346669900May 18, 2016
I was recently in Kansas City for a conference, and Comfort Inn was basically the last affordable option. Rates were easily around $120 and about 1.3 miles away from the Downtown Convention center.
Hotel has a variety of "perks" : morning breakfast, spa water, gym, parking, vending machines, etc.
My room smelled of must & cologne, but I checked in at 12:00am and didn't feel like making the trek back to the front desk to change rooms. Front desk employees were helpful and check-in was a breeze. I'd say it's a great affordable option for the area if you're in town for business.
Transportation:
// Uber rides from Comfort Inn to Downtown averaged around $6-$9.
// If you have time, I'd say try walking back to hotel from Downtown, it's a perfect opportunity for sightseeing!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dena B.Kansas City, MO118437Mar 15, 2018
Had a room booked. Received a text the day before stating room confirmation. Showed up no room! Wow.
Room was cancelled by someone at the hotel and we were told there was nothing they could do!!! Have never had this happen. Was told by manager Christopher Skivers that talking wasn't going to change anything. What a jerk! Also his shirt needed to be ironed!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 8, 2015
We stayed for 2 nights and had wonderful service at the hotel. Everything was clean fresh and well cared for.
Staff was very friendly and location was perfect. The only complaint I have is the parking. After getting back late i had to park across the street. (but hey its a small hotel downtown)
I was not happy with the extra $1.50 charge for a "safe" for each nights stay. I thought that was a cheap throw in especially since i did not use or ask for any safe. bit I missed it on our check out sheet and did not get a chance to bring it up.
watch for that uneeded unused charge if you stay there.
I was also really impressed with how clean the pool was. Would for sure stay againHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 12, 2017
Normally with my reviews, I have a elaborate and specific review of my experience of the service or establishment. However, I was unable to do so at this Kansas City Comfort Inn. They overbooked the hotel, despite our reservation being booked 4 months ago. The fact that they overbooked the hotel when we traveled state lines for an event of a family member, is really inconvenient.

Paid $300 for 2 nights in a sub par hotel. Breakfast was decent but my main gripe was the $30 I had to pay to park in the hotels own parking lot. I asked if they had parking lot security and they reply that they had surveillance cameras. A joke!

Dear Brandon,
Prior to booking, our parking fee is noted on all of our sites. We are sorry this information was overlooked. We are pleased nonetheless that our breakfast was an aspect you enjoyed during your visit. We wish to have you back someday and hope you have a safe trip home. - Alexandra L.Providence, RI230301Oct 4, 2019
Staff was very friendly and room was clean. But the hotel itself smelled like stale cigarettes (despite it being "100% smoke-free") and like if a baby vomited up ranch dressing and Chef Boyardee.

Bad from start to finish. In bad area. Untrained staff. Incredibly worn and aged room. Not very clean. Probably hasn't been remodeled in 20 years. 20 year old TV. Expensive. Don't do it, find another place to stay.
