Hey - this place is a really good time. Pick your nights carefully and make sure you book the right show! LOL - I was there a few years ago and wanted to hit a show with a friend from out of town. We did McCormick & Schmick's for happy hour then over to the Comedy Underground for the show. Something was wrong from the first minute we were there... We hit the wrong night...
It was Hip Hop nite... Not that I have anything against Hip Hop (not my genre, but...). The funny part is we became the show. Three pale white folks being the center of attention for the evening while sitting in the front row. We made a strategic departure after about 1/2 of the show, but it was funny...
Otherwise - if you pay attention and get to the show on the right nite, it is a good venue and a lot of fun.
Parking is a pain, but this is Seattle...
The comics get 5 stars and the fact that you can go during the week and just pay a few bucks to get in all is worth 5 stars.
The food is absolutely inedible. Not fit for human consumption.
EAT BEFORE YOU GO.
I'm not sure what kind of cola syrup they used, but it is revolting.
If you don't drink stick with the luke warm bottled water.
The service is abominable.
Don't let them take your debit/credit card. I highly recommend cash and carry. They always over charge and then become incredulous when questioned.
This place is REALLY hit or miss in the comedy department.
I feel like I want to give it 2.5 stars actually. Because I really appreciate the clean bathrooms... But the bitchy bartender who is there every time just kills me. This woman has given me and my friends poor service all 3 times I have been to this place. Change your attitude, be-yatch!
If you get a card to go for free (which I have gotten), then there is nothing to lose. But I would still have at least a couple of drinks prior to the show.
However, on a weekend when it's $20 a person - I would make damn sure you know of a couple of the comics. Twice now, I have gotten stuck there listening to the headliner totally bomb. I mean, really bomb. Painfully bad. For $20 bones a pop. Ouch.
Do you review the business or do you review the comedy? I have to stick to holding them accountable to what they are responsible for and that isn't the funny.
(If I were reviewing the funny I should point out that I would have to go at least two more stars. Some good laughs. )
What I am reviewing is the service or disservice as it were. I have yet to go to this place and not be over charged at the end of the night. This last time only being to the tune of a few bucks (due to limited drinking) but there was this one time with a group of folks for a birthday party where some folks paid cash for their drinks and the Comedy Underground charged another card for them too. When this was discussed with them we got the old line from the customer service manual "you are just trying to get out of paying for your drinks" oh...wait that isn't in the manual.
I would go for the Comedy, but be aware they are going to try and force you to us a card, they probably won't give you an itemized bill, and you will likely be over charged. Well at least the service is slow, couldn't catch a buzz with the pace of service and the fries suck.
This place was great, completely full of atmosphere. Its location is interesting because it's about a meter from a large park with a large congregation of homeless people :( But pass through the doors and you're in!
There's a bar upstairs which looked like a good time all itself, but the basement is where the magic happens. The seatting was about perfect, maybe 200 people? There isn't a bad seat in the house. I sat in the back on two opposite ends and I could hear everything fine. Also, if you sit in the back you have the best chance of catching the servers attention if you'd like some drinks or food. We got a heaping pile of nachos and a couple tall Mac and Jacks..
The lineup was completely satisfying. There were a couple seemingly amatuer people up first, but it was a constant progression of madness until the headliner who had me falling out of my chair.
I will be a returning customer as soon as possible.
Went there the other night, the comedians were great (although they had a horrendoud couple to deal with and everyone in the audience applauded when the couple left, thank god!)
Parking was a hassle, but, hey, it's Seattle. And I agree on the homeless people, I felt super uncomfortable.
Drinks weren't good at all. I did not realize that a Captain's n Coke was so difficult to make :/
It was about an hour into the comedy act that a waitress finally came and asked us if we'd like another drink (since our glasses were empty...), we declined. Although they seem to check on other people a lot more, oh well.
Tickets were Cash Only, which sucked since I never carry cash, but there's an ATM by the bar kind of. The Bar took cards though...hmm....
Yay! The best comedy club in town is back in business, with a beautiful new space in Pioneer Square. The new Comedy Underground is located at 109 S. Washington St. in Pioneer Square.
As I wrote in my previous review, The Comedy Underground is THE place to see comedy in Seattle, bar none. It's been a Seattle treasure for over twenty years and a stomping ground for the best comedians in the country (Seinfeld still talks about it).
Great comedy seven days a week, with national headliners on Fridays and Saturdays, Best of Seattle Showcase on Sundays, the world-famous open mic on Monday, and other great shows rotating on the other days.

This is truly one of the great Seattle landmarks. Every comedian in Seattle started here (and most… Read more »
Comedy Underground is a nice place for great comedy. Once you get over the "underground" part you are all set. As they said themselves when we visited a few weeks ago for the reopening, they moved from "a sketchy basement of a bar in Pioneer Square" to.... "a sketchy basement of a bar in Pioneer Square".
Despite being a packed house, our waitress was very prompt and quick with the drinks during the reopening which was an improvement over the previous location.
The comedians bring a local spin to most of their routines which makes it all the more entertaining.
Overall definitely a great value and a fun thing to do for something different then the typical bar / club scene.
I really enjoyed myself here! the bartender was very boring and blah... but I still enjoyed my beer. Downstairs where the comedy happens is really neat. very old school looking with the brink wall and giant brick red circle. I like! I laughed my ass off and each comedian. They were all very interactive with the small audience. one guy was kind of mean, but he wasn't to me so it didn't bother me much. I didn't order any food or drinks from the waitresses there but they looked like they were giving good service. everyone had full drinks the whole time and nobody was neglected. I can't wait to come back and laugh my ass off again!
FOLKS: Get your chortles here!
Nestled under Swannies in Pioneer Square is this dirty, little gem. I used to be a regular on Sunday nights- Open Mic- $6 gets you 2+ hours of awkward, amateur comedy entertainment. I've always found most of the acts pretty funny and there's always a headliner.
Casey, no doubt, will be there. He's a 'lot' whacked out on 'I don't know what' and he's got punchlines that go nowhere but awkward- they usually involve Britney Spear's nether regions. He's worth the trip, is a trip. and is probably trippin' out somewhere as I type this.
Drinks are cheap- I've never had food, but it's the usual greasy spoon. This place is great for groups- it'd be a perfect Yelp outing!
Two awkward pauses (and a punchline to boot) up!
I've made it here once so far. Bought tickets online. This entitles you to reserved seats, and service by waitstaff. All the seats here are good due to intimate size of establishment. Looked like they also sold overflow tickets for standing room only. Pretty damn funny comics when we went (been a while, can't remember headliner's name). Pretty reasonable ticket rates which stands to reason cause not a whole lot of money has been put into doing the place out. Pretty bare bones, but the Underground atmosphere gives it a feeling of being "legit"--like you could see the "next Seinfield" coming out of here.
I'll make it back eventually. If you're looking for reasonably priced comedy, this is a good venue.
I love this place. It's downstairs so it seems like when you go there -- you know a secret. I came here when I was visiting Seattle about ten years ago and it was the first place I went when I decided to move here.
Hands down - best pre-show announcement.
Hands down - most historical ambiance (less now that they had to take out the pull chain flush toilets after the earthquake)
Go there.
You'll like it.
There is nothing Funny about the Giggle. Not funny!
The underground doesn't get as big of acts as Giggles but it's by far the better place. The environment is hip and what a comedy club should be. The drinks are better and not as over priced as Giggles either. Even though you might not recognize the name of who ever is headlining go anyway you will have a good time anyway.
I loved this place. Chris Clobber was the headliner and was hilarious. The food was mediocre but this really isn't a place where the food matters. Highly recommended.
has that dive bar feel that is perfect for live comedy. the place is small enough that you feel like part of the show but big enough that you don't feel like you are in someone's house. the menu could use a little work, but i don't think anyone comes here for the food. the waitstaff makes sure the drinks keep flowing and that is far more important..
