Small, clean, well staffed, and free wifi.

Nuff said.

I also find it amusing that several people have asked me to watch their bags as they go get something from the shop or go to the bathroom.  That would NEVER happen in a major airport.

Nice light fixtures!

Like Royce says, it has bright and airy architecture and I like that it's so clean.  I love the free Wi-Fi and the ability to get in and out of the airport so quickly!

It's a little gem of an airport; you won't be disappointed.

A jewel of an airport!  Perhaps the nicest airport in the country. (Knoxville, TN is a close 2nd. Major metro areas could learn a lot from these two, well-executed venues.)

Bright and airy architecture, clean, compact and easily-navigated size, with well-run security (virtually no wait for clearance) and nearly instantaneous luggage arrival; almost single-handedly makes air travel a decent experience (until one has to return to the likes of LAX or similar other major metro disaster areas masquerading as airports).

..and oh yeah, it's had free wi-fi for years (take THAT, LAX!) and Goo-Goo Clusters available at the newsstands!  (alone reason enough for five stars).

If you're gonna be stuck on a plane, you can hope that it's going to Columbia, SC.

I have to agree with Royce on this (although I am guessing that this might be the only thing we would agree on) that Coulmbia Airport has to be one on the nicest airports in the country. Very well organised, the people are friendly, the TSA suck ass but they suck everywhere.

Very easy to get in and out of, ample parking, great grill and bar, nice newstand, comfortable seating at the gates and while you wait.

Great overall travel experience.

I agree that the Columbia Metropolitan Airport is a lovely creation.  However, the inconvenience of the location of the long-term parking, combined with 2 bags, makes it very difficult to navigate walking to the terminal.  I have found other airports, i.e., Jacksonville, that offer shuttle service for those using the long-term parking.

Usually, when I travel via Delta, the lines at the security clearance are long; however, the TSP officers are very efficient.
