Wow...

14 out of 15 to force a one game playoff, and then they win that INSANE game in the 13th inning?

That was one of the greatest baseball games I've ever seen in my life. I was calling Tulowitzki "Jeter Jr." all night (he wears #2 b/c he idolized Jeter as a kid). He didn't disappoint.

Go Rox!! (unless you play the Yanks in the World Series... sorry)

This review is for their annual Paws at the Park event.
What a blast!  For $17 you and your dog get to sit in the Rockpile, visit with other dogs and dog owners, grab some nachos and hot dogs and, if you must, watch a baseball game.
Bonus - when you arrive, you get dog treats, a Colorado Rockies collar (this year's gift - last year it was a leash) and a Rockies collapsible water bowl.
This is a must for all dog lovers.

Englewood? I am so perplexed.... Anywho....

The Rockies were totally fun for the first many years of their existence. But now the powers that be seem to be doing nothing to keep or develop a fan base, and in fact, seem to be trying to alienate us. How can you root for a team if you don't even know who the hell is on the team???

I am not down on the new players. I'm sure I will grow to like them, but once I do, they'll be done away with. :(

On the plus side, we share initials, so I can wear my CR hat all the time.

UPDATE in OCTOBER 2007!!!!

I stand by my assessment: I do love the new players, but I bet the owners are pissed as hell that we've had such a great year -- they can't figure out who to fire next because everyone is playing great!

I am upping the star since the players rocked it anyway!

The good: Attending a Rockies game is an amazing way to spend a summer's night. They play 81 games a year at beautiful Coor's Field, and if you're lucky they'll win the night you attend.

The bad: They don't win that often.

The good: They have nice uniform colors.

The bad: Like many small-market teams, they serve as a professional-grade farm club for organizations like the Yankees and Red Sox and Braves, who snatch up our young prospects after we put in the hard time developing them.

But the good outweighs the bad when it comes to a Saturday evening in the left field stands followed up by a visit to El Chapultapec. Our team may only be a glorified Triple A club, but that doesn't mean we can't have a good time at the games.

I took the Light Rail up from Lincoln to Coors Field for my first experience watching the Rockies play; it was about a 45 minute trip but very convenient non-the-less. The field is within walking distance of the station, so that was great because anyone who's had to sit in I-25 knows that you could take a couple of hours to move a couple of exits. The layout of the stadium is decent, and there aren't too many people outside the doors bothering you to buy things so that's a plus. There could have been more in the way of souvenir shops but what they had for selection was sufficient. The food was standard; the lines were not horrendously long. The game was good, surprising, because when I went it was before their streak of winning and they were practically begging people to go to games. I didn't notice a whole lot of places for kids to play around while I was there. After the game the bars were waiting doors open just outside the stadium, who can complain about that?

I dont know why I never thought to do this before in reviewing the Rockies, considering I spend a lot of my time during the spring and summer months at the ballpark. I am more a fan of the team and the sport, than the current ownership and general manager Dan O'Dowd. The Rockies are a decent baseball team and play in an awesome ballpark in Coors Field. The trip to the World Series in 2007 is the highlight of the franchise since it's existence 15 years ago. The Rockies have some of the cheapest seats in Major League Baseball with the $4 seats in the Rockpile. If you're from out of town and you're worried about getting seats to a game, DONT. Seats this upcoming season will be more than plentiful, with the upcoming trades of Matt Holliday and Garrett Atkins. Just ask Cubs fans, they come here in droves every year to fill up Coors Field one of the few times the place is sold out for a homestand during the season. If you like baseball, then the Rockies are for you. If you're into heartache, frustration and loss of direction then the Rockies are also for you! Win or lose, the Rockies are just that.....the Rockies.
