I'm a BIG beer fan and love a good hamburger.  This place has both.  They have at least 15 -20 beers on tap and all of which are micro-brews from all around with a great selection of local choices.  If that wasn't good enough for ya, the WAIT there's MORE!

If you visit today we'll offer you a really Tasty burger!  They have a few variations on it but it's the staple of the menu.  They have other great apps and salads but the burger is where it's AT!

I work just up the street and visit here frequently and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good pub.

Collins Pub.  The go to spot before any sporting event.

Sure, I could head down to the stadiums and follow the heard of Seahawks or Sounders or Mariners fans into one of those cheap ass disgusting hell holes that has some Bud lite, Natty lite, Gross lite specials.  What, you want me to pay you two dollars to funnel 16 ounces of marinated corn and piss water down my throat?

No thanks, you'll find me at Collins!  An awesome array of great beers on tap from the NW, PLUS a full bar.  Sometimes I don't feel like a beer snob (I know folks, its a rare occurance).  But if I just want a whiskey or some shots...its nice to go to a place where both are an option.  Happy hour food menu is decent.  All around, I'm a true fan of Collins and my friends who don't live right in Seattle ALWAYS want to go there when they are around downtown!

Two beers that were perfect and a calamari appetizer that was outstanding. Good service and nice atmosphere, great place overall!

While I was out in Seattle, I needed to find a spot that A) was central to everyone I knew up there, B) easy to get to within the downtown area and C) offered decent beer.

A quick search online offered up the Collins Pub homepage, complete w/a photo of a Chimay glass. Color me sold.

After spending most of my late afternoon here, I can say that Collins was one of my favorite stops in Seattle. Consider the following:

    - Good food. The BBQ pork sliders were excellent, and the fries that came along were cut perfectly.

    - Solid beer selection. I'm not a hef man normally, but offering Franziskaner at happy hour prices is a no-brainer.

    - Great atmosphere. Friendly clientele & bar staff, as well as plenty of room in the back to accommodate all your friends in the back area.

Next time I'm here, I'll definitely make it a point to keep Collins Pub on my itinerary.

Dear GOD.  I have no idea what band was playing last Saturday night, but they were so awful that my friends were chugging their beers in order to get out of here as soon as possible.

Imagine, if you will, 50 sixth graders.  Now imagine that they are all in the band room, warming up and goofing around on their instruments before the class officially starts.  That was song #1.  Beautiful, right?  Song #2 featured microphone feedback mixed with gongs.  I am dead serious.

The two stars go 1) to the bartender who greeted us, filled our drink orders quickly, and notified us that the kitchen would be closing soon in case we wanted food (we didn't) and 2) to the decor of the place - I really liked the interior.

Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that I will be back.  I have no desire to play russian roulette with the music here.  Getting loudly blasted with more experimental music is not a risk that I am willing to take.

Swung by for some lunch. Ordered the Bricked Chicken Sandwich with subbed sweet potato fries. H20 no ice. It was pretty tasty and good. I wonder if bricks were involved in the process. The space is interesting with the wood + high ceilings and mirror between the bar TV's. I'd try the bar next time. Service was good.

My friend was like "you MUST try this BURGER" and I was like "oh KAY I WILL" and it wasn't the best burger I've ever had. I'm still trying to discover one better than Skillet's. The Collins burger is hand-formed, which is awesome, and has extra sharp cheddar cheese, which is also awesome. And some sort of tasty special sauce. But there was just something missing. Not enough flavor in the burger. Not enough salt? Slightly stale bun? It could have been any of these things. Maybe the chefs were just eager to go home and enjoy their Memorial Day the following day, but I was unimpressed.

I subbed onion rings for the fries with my burger, and they do have promise: obviously homemade batter covering them. But sadly undercooked. The chicken salad with candied pecans and blue cheese that my friend got looked pretty tasty. But I'm not impressed enough to give this place more thn 3 stars.

The owner apparently is super crazy about hoppy beers, so if you don't like IPAs or other hoppy beers, there will be slim pickins here for you.

Basically, it's never a good sign when you're staring wistfully out the window thinking "Oh, Salum - that's pretty close, I wish we'd gone there" or "Oh yeah, Seatown Snackbar! That would be delicious!" because you're so unimpressed with the food at the place you're at.

One of my go-to lunch spots when I'm hanging with friends or co-workers and we want to sit down and eat. Off of the lunch menu, the ahi sandwich, the steak sandwich, the crab cake blt and (of course) the infamous Collins burger are my favorites (with sweet potato fries). It's just plain good food. There's nothing too foodie or extravagant about it. You're not going to describe things as 'earthy' or claim that any dish possesses 'a hint of (flavor descriptor here)'. It's simple, it's good and Collins doesn't pretend to be anything otherwise.

They also have a pretty darn good selection of beers (especially craft beers) compared to other nearby pubs.

I came to Collins around 9 on a weeknight last week with some friends and was very, very disappointed in the service. The bartender was for some reason serving the entire restaurant, ducking out every couple of minutes from behind the bar, even with another server there.

We were finally able to flag him down and said that we were ready to order drinks and dinner. After ordering drinks, he walked away mid-sentence as my friend tried to order dinner, started pouring our beers from the tap, and stopped halfway, leaving them there at the tap, as another customer loudly ordered three shots of gin. We had to wait another couple of minutes for him to get back on track. Terrible. It took another few minutes for him to remember that we wanted to order food.

The very worst part of being there was overhearing the server swear audibly at the bartender, I assume for not giving the tables outside of the bar area over to her. I won't repeat what she called him here, but it made me blush.

The food was thankfully much better than the service- I do like how this place is committed to using local ingredients whenever possible. Don't hurry here for it, though.

Wow in response to the owner's comments, I did not pay the bill that night (our friends covered it).  They didn't even know I wrote a yelp review.   They have a typical automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more.  We were a party of 4 and my friend was charged the extra gratuity.  He left an additional tip on top of this extra charge and did not realize it until he got home.  Given the horrible evening, he wrote a letter to the owner and asked for a refund of JUST the extra gratuity.  NOT the entire bill which is what the owner's comments seem to reflect.  I read the letter and it was very nice and professional.  He did get his refund and an unsincere apology.

I can only speak for one sandwich here, but it was SOOO DELICIOUS! I had their crab cake BLT...it was THE BEST SANDWICH I've ever had so far!!! the crab cake was mostly crab instead of breading. and the crab tasted good!! the bread was nicely toasted and flavorful. the bacon was definitely a plus and added a lot of good bacon flavors into the rest of the sandwich. I devoured this thing so fast because it was sooo good. the sandwich wasn't hard to eat and chew because the crab was easy to chew and tasted so fresh!

    Dear Collins Pub:

When a group of people wander in from the cold looking for a drink and a bite to eat, you should probably consider sending over a friendlier, happier server.

While we got our drinks in a fairly timely manner, our server was the biggest sour puss EVER.  Really?  You hate your job that much?

You have good bloody marys.  I'd like to keep bringing people here to experience them, but not if you have Grumpy McGrumperson waiting on us.

    Sincerely,
    Your customers.

This is a really great spot for the after work crowd in the Pioneer Square/Sodo area.  I think everyone there when we went either worked on the same block or like us traveled 10-15 min. after work to get there. The "on tap" beer selection was pretty good unfortunately a lot of them were out at the time we were there and the ones that were left, I had never heard of.  Still there was a good selection.

I would have loved to give this place higher marks, but I can't and here's why.

#1 The service- other's commented that it takes a while for you to get served (I thought this was because they have a lot of beers and the server was giving me time to read before coming over, so that was not a big deal for me) so either call someone over to you as soon as you are ready or prepare to wait a little bit. With that, it's not even the reason I am commenting on the service.  The reason this is my number 1 complaint is, the server knew NOTHING about the beers. Her response to my questions, though friendly and honest, was: I don't know.... hoppy?, malty?, sour? with some fruit flavors? Meh.

#2 The drinks menu has a list of draft beers.... they USED to sell.  The list of current draft beers is on the chalkboard in the least visible location in the place. Here's a thought don't print the beers on tap if you know you rotate out quickly and put the damn chalkboard where more than one table can see it!

#3 There were no descriptors for the beer on the chalkboard.  All I was looking for was a little direction... light, dark, lager, porter, pilsner, malty, sour....I tried asking for help, but see # 1. I would have expected to have been offered a sample or two in a pub like this.

    #4 No Happy hour?

The food was really good, the portion size was a little on the small side for the price, but the speed of it's arrival, the taste/quality and the fact that it was piping hot made up for that.

I'd still go back there, but I'll spend some time googling the beers first to decide what I want.  I'm sure I'll have plenty of time before the server gets to me and the information will be accurate.

This pub was on our hit-list for our beer adventure through Seattle. Went in on a weekday for lunch and sat at the bar. We were quite impressed with their taps available (Deschutes, Green Flash, Russian River, etc) and their bottle list.

    5 stars for the beers!

For food, I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was the best Reuben I have had EVER. The rye bread was toasted and buttery and the pastrami and sauerkraut were just so juicy and melt in your mouth good. My boyfriend ordered the seasme crusted ahi sandwhich which was also good, but not as good as my Reuben :)

    5 stars for the food!

Service, we sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty slow to take our order and close out. He seemed a little busy but hey, I am on a major beer-hunt in Seattle and my beer taste buds get a bit impatient.

    4 stars for the service.

And the fruit flies, jeez you pests were everywhere. Not sure if it was just the bar area or all over the restaurant, but those damn things were buggin'... LITERALLY!

1 star for the fruit flies.

I work a few blocks away from Collin's and it seems like the perfect after-work spot to stop for a pint. However, I have been here several times and have never had satisfactory service. Long wait times, confusing menus (there are individual menus: one for happy hour, one for dinner, one for lunch, one for drinks) all half hazardly thrown into a basket at the intrance for you to help yourself to. Not organized, not customer friendly.

The atmosphere is great - aside from huffy, hurried wait staff and long waits. If you do stop in, the beer selection is good, appetizers okay- just be prepared to miss the happy hour cut off as your server rushes around to help everyone else.

I was meeting a photo group at the Seattle Library for a two hour photo shoot. Before the doors opened, I text my longtime school friend Ron to ask if he wanted to meet for lunch after. Two hours later he rescued me from the Seattle Library's neon escalators, one hundred percent red stairwells, and diamond window expanses.

We headed down to Collins Pub.

When it comes to pubs I like two flavors of pubs, the first are the hole in the wall pubs, where except for the booze bottles nothing in the place has been purchased in the last 25 years. If you look closely at the floors you are pretty sure, the health inspectors must be getting paid off, and let's not even think about the last time the beer kegs lines were cleaned. But they are anchored with a great, old beat up bar top, of which I could imaging finding my father and grandfather initials carve in somewhere on that bar.

My second flavor of pub could use Collins Pub as its poster child. In a walking neighborhood, newer, clean, seating was design to maximize the customer's enjoyment. A bar with great seating, serviced with a barkeep that leaves you with a feeling he or she does actually care if you are hungry or thirsty. Behind that bartender is a big wall of glass or mirrors showcasing shelves of all the required bottles of vodka, scotch, and bourbon, bookend with large big screens with any sports playing.

We were happy to see a find selection of microbrews, many of which I have never heard of yet. Keep them coming barkeep, bring a different each time.

Ron was busy deciding on one of the many burger selections they had, when I saw it; Ling Cod fish and chips. What, Ling Cod fish and chips, put the order in. Ron enjoyed a great burger. The Ling Cod and chips was a pleasant surprise. The barkeep told me the kitchen lightly seasons and breads the ling cod upon order. They were large fillets of white meat ling cod, without the heavy deep fat fryer taste you of other fish and chips orders.

I really am looking forward to our next visit at Collins Pub.

Very convenient to have such a high-quality, diverse, and dynamic beer selection so close to work. Their food is good American, not too greasy, lots of fish and such. I like it, but it's a little too pricey to come here often for lunch or after work. The service is totally average. Love their booths. Sitting outside on a sunny day is lovely, though you'll get hassled by panhandlers.

I really love their lunch and happy hour menu.  This is a great place for work lunches and lunches to escape from work.  The service can be a little inconsistent though, so that's why they don't get 5 stars.  Otherwise, its great.  The burgers and salads are really good.  Good beer selection, but you just never know if you're going to get a superstar waiter or a slug.  But that is so true for everywhere these days.
Hopefully you get a superstar.  If you get a slug, sometimes they don't mind if you stick your head in the kitchen to check on your lunch.

The first time I went to Collin's Pub, my experience was lovely. It was about a year and a half ago. Six of us headed in there one day and sat at one of the tables. We had a great waiter who provided us with good food, great beer, and awesome service. I had fond memories of this spot...

    Until last night.

After checking out the new art installation at Some Space Gallery, we were in the mood for a beer. We thought Collins would be good since they've got some good beers on tap and a semi laid back atmosphere. As we walked up, we noticed it was pretty packed. We did see a few spots at the end of the bar, so we wandered over to have a seat.

We sat down and patiently waited for a 'hello' and/ or a menu.. or just an acknowledgment. Nothing.

We sat at the bar for about 5 minutes with not so much a smile. This would have been okay if the bartenders weren't standing right in front of us at the register, running cards, etc. They were working, but I at least expect a 'one sec' or 'I'll be with you in a few.'

Okay, fine.. I thought. We'll just wait for a few more until she's not serving anyone and she'll come over. Again, I was wrong. We had more than a few glances from the bartenders working that night.. and we were never offered a menu, a water.. a smile.

We ended up walking out, which I never do. I don't need amazing rock star service everywhere I go, I just wanted a beer. Hell, a glass of water would have probably earned them another star. I didn't get any of this here last night and I know I never will. I won't be back.

Not the best burger I have had, but pretty damn good. We came here after my friends wedding and my friend said that I needed to try the burger or else he would divorce his wife. I hate to see people break up over stupid crap so I tried the burger. For $10 you get a good sized burger and fries. One of my friends ordered some salmon dish and when it came out it looked different than she remembered. When she asked the waitress about this, she confirmed that they did change it and if she doesnt like it they could return it. Fortunately, she liked it.

On their beverage menu I saw that they had Doggie Claws, which is a barleywine from Hair of the Dog but they didn't. Sad.  I will be here again.

It's 3:30pm on Day 1 of my vacation and I've been up since 4:00am due to the loving flight arrangements of my ever-lovely mother.  It's sunny, it's warm, I haven't had lunch and a friend and I are on our way to Ibiza thanks to a recommendation from a local Yelper whom neither of us have met in person (love Yelp!).  As we hit the corner and start considering options my friend spots a chalkboard in front of Collins Pub advertising mac-n-cheese.

Clearly, Ibiza loses to the joys of gooey warm cheese and carbs!

I cannot recommend a better way to start a much needed vacation than spending some time on a sunny patio, sipping a strong beverage and scarfing down the last two orders of a truly excellent comfort food.

Beyond the immediate cheese gratification, Collins Pub proved to be a nice beginning for this lovely Northwest city.  Attractive space, a pleasant and helpful waitress who was unfazed by us switching tables to avoid sunburn, good food and a decent-sized glass wine list.   If I lived here this could be dangerous!

A nice choice if you're looking for a meat and beer heavy lunch out with your co-workers. I work about 10 minutes from here, but it's been worth the trek the few times I've gone.

Service has always been pretty good (speedy, I'm not forgotten) and the dishes I've ordered have been well made. I especially enjoyed the burgers. Many people say "best burger in town" and I don't know if I'd go that far, but it is pretty good.

It's too bad this place can't take over the larger space next door, because it's always packed.

Wow great beers on tap! If you're going on the Underground Tour...stop here first and get toasted!

I thought I counted at least 15-20 taps. Stone Brewing was in town the day, before so they had fresh taps of 14th Anniversary Ale and 10.10.10 Vertical Epic. Never had either on tap so i sampled both. Vertical Epic was good.

I recall seeing Green Flash IPA, Port Fresh Hop IPA, Rodenbach Grand Cru, Stone Smoked Porter and a few locals.

We were here at noon on a dreary Saturday so not many people were  around. Service was great. Our server was very knowledgable about the beers and even suggested some places for us to visit for good food(Quinn's) and drink(Quinn's/Black Raven). I will definitely come here again.

I didn't like the railing RIGHT behind the bar stools. Definitely wouldn't want to sit at the bar when there's a crowd. Pretty spacious place otherwise

This place seriously has the best cheeseburger in Seattle. But, I had to update this - I haven't been since they got a new chef and the most recent reviews haven't said a lot of good things about the food - and I don't want my review to be misleading.

I did want to note that I was dating the old head chef here and even when I went in to visit him for lunch the servers were STILL rude to me. (They didn't even comp by beer either! Not that I expected it, but come on.) What is that about?

The food is (was) good. But, I'd have to try it again before I give them back some stars.

The service SUCKED.  My buddy's beer came as he finished his burger!  Then when we asked to split the check, the little waiter guy started pouting and shaking his head.  I've split many a check in my day as a waiter....it's not that bad, especially when your tip is depending on it.

I really like Collin's pub. I've been here a few times, all with random people, all leaving with a smile on their faces. I've even come here alone once, mid-day, for a couple drinks (Thank you, Stranger (the magazine, not a person) for keeping me company). Their food is super good. Their crab dip is awesome, their pizza is awesome, their burgers are awesome. Their cajun pasta, eh, not so awesome, but okay if you like that sort of thing.

I'd recommend sitting in the front bar area, as the rest is pretty dark.

They have like, every random beer ever made on tap, FYI.

    Cheers!

Collins Pub was a perfect place for a small gathering of friends on a Monday night.  Yes, drinking on a Monday night, I know.

Because it was a Monday night, however, we never had to wait long for food or drinks.  Both of which are great.  We had the burgers, fries and the hummus platter-all perfect complements to our beverages.

I know the place gets really, really busy on the weekends, especially game days.  I would probably avoid this place at said times unless you're looking for a really fast-paced atmosphere to get you revved up.  Service probably will not be as quick at these times, so patience will come in handy.

I agree with the other reviewers who said that the service quality here is totally random, and the only drawback. I've been here 10 to 15 times over the last 2-3 years, twice in the last month, and about 40% of the times the service is terrible and the rest of the time it is okay to good.  Sit at the bar if you can.

The owner Seth seems like a cool guy, and is friendly with customers, but his staff obviously wasn't chosen for their friendliness or attentive customer service. Once I sat at a table (Collins Pub is seat-yourself) and we waited 20 minutes without even seeing our waiter or being acknowledged. So I went to the bar to get our beers. While at the bar, our waiter finally materialized (the guy with the thick-rimmed glasses) and apparently was all irked that I had ordered beers from the bar (cuts into his tip I guess? Though I would think they would pool tips). So then for the next half hour he ignored us, and I had to call him over to order food. He was like "Oh, you wanted food? I thought you were ordering from the bar." Wow, attitude :)  I'm *trying* to give you a tip here man, give me a chance.

Anyway, that's the only waiter I've had actually get angry at me over his own inattentive service (where was he for 20 minutes? taking a smoke break?), the rest of the waiters are nicer but sometimes have smaller issues like disappearing for long periods of time or failing to check in on whether you need a refill on water or beer.

    The good stuff:
Their beer selection is fantastic - they get in beers that can be pretty hard to find, and offer it at good prices. For example, Russian River's Pliney the Elder. They also had Deschutes The Abyss last year, and they have a great barleywine festival.
The food is a bit pricey for a beer bar, but very good.
Also worth noting is they rotate artwork from local artists on the walls, and I often like what they have.

5 stars for beer, food, and atmosphere; 1 star for service; I'll round up to 3 stars. :)

One of my favorite bars in Seattle. They've got a great menu *and* a great beer selection ... sweet potato fries and Deschutes Black Butte XX is pretty much my definition of heaven.

Please, when you come here, don't have your standard beer fare ... try something new!

I organized a geek event here on a Sunday evening where we took over the back area for six hours. The staff was awesomely accommodating and carefully navigated our jungle of power cords to deliver beer and food to 20+ people. This alone gets five stars - but the fact that the beer and food was om nom puts them over the top.

I feel almost guilty giving this place such a low rating. It just goes to show you how important consistency is. If every time I stopped by I had great service this is definitely a 4-5 star place. The food is nearly always excellent and they have a wonderful selection of our regions best beer.

Sadly it seems that no matter how busy they are service is a crap shoot. I've had both rotten and excellent service here. Sometimes I almost get the feeling the staff can resent the fact they even HAVE customers. I went so far as to mention extremely poor service to the owner who instead of apologizing just blew me off. A shame because I'd love to love this place.

Do you like being ignored? Do you want minimal food selection? If so, this place is just for you!
I came here with some buddies after work. The decor is like The Daily Grill.  We barely saw our waitress and it took forever to get the check.

They get the two stars for their beer menu. It's very impressive. But, on a sunny day... you should staff your bar better. Service was slow, the hummus we ordered came with 5 slices of pita... it didn't even cover the entire plate. Really sad. It took forever to just get our check and it wasn't even that busy!

We had a waitress that knew very little about the beers that they sell. OK, I'm not a beer snob.. but when I'm paying 7 dollars for a bottle of beer... I expect a bit more. Belgium beer has a sense of pride - you have to have the glass that matches the beer. It's part of the experience. Not only did she call out the beer she was serving each of us incorrectly, but she gave the wrong glasses to everyone. She also kept referring to the beers that she had never heard of as "fancy beers". Um.... you work at a place that is known for it's beer list. If I wanted a bud, I would go somewhere else.

I would go somewhere else for the service. Good list, though. When they have them all in stock.

Excellent burger... this coming from somebody not too fond of burgers.  Get the onion ring substitution... the fries are good too, but how can you pass up deep fried onion rings?

I like the cozy atmosphere, it's easy to relax and enjoy your food and company.

Collins, why must you torture me so?  You drive me crazy.

    Why?
    1. Great revolving selection of beers.
    2. Fantastic hamburger.
    3. I must pass by you at least twice a day on my way to work and have you entice me with #1 and #2.

Collins is a good place to go for lunch or for an after work snack or beverage.  As you can see, I recommend the Collins burger.  If you happen to be there during happy hour, the sliders are a smaller version of the burger, and oh so hit the spot.  Plus the beer prices are good during HH.  The staff knows their beers, and can usually make a good recommendation for you if you don't know any of the players.  Since I work right next door, I spend far too much time here....and to be honest, I'm so much better off for it.
