Cole's Peace Artisan Breads

Cole's Peace offers old-world style artisan breads using natural ingredients and traditional methods. Our specialties include, Pain au Levain (French Sourdough), Whole Grain, Mango, Country Italian, Baguette, Olive Fougasse, Rye and a number of seasonal breads. We recently added authentic Cuban bread to serve the local community. It is so well-received it is served in many of the local Cuban restaurants in Key West.

Our signature sandwiches are chef-created using only the finest meats and cheeses available. We complement our sandwiches with our own prepared mayonaises and sauces and serve them with our famous Cole's Slaw or Homemade Potato Salad.

We recently added two to three soups per day to our menu. All fresh and made from scratch. No canned soup or packaged soup bases are allowed.

Of course we are a great place to stop for a Cafe Con Leche, get a fresh danish or a cookie. Breakfast sandwiches and authentic Cuban Cheese Toast are another specialty. We also do catering.

Established in 1997

In 1997, Kurt Matarazzo brought his artisan baking knowledge to Key West and named his bakery after his son Cole.

After years of baking success, as well as local and national acclaim, Kurt decided to close Cole's Peace to pursue other interests. In the spring and early summer of 2003, the staff of Cole's Peace approached Richard Tallmadge, owner of the nearby "Restaurant Store," about buying Cole's Peace and keeping the tradition alive for the bread-loving people of Key West.

The original Cole's Peace location at 930 Eaton Street was closed to the public on June 23, 2003.  The bakery was moved two blocks to the northeast to 1111 Eaton Street -- adjacent to The Restaurant Store.
