Choose your ice-cream flavor, choose your additions (chocolate chips, candy pieces, fruit, caramel sauce, etc) and have them mixed together as you watch.

This time I elected to put my own creation together (Choc ice cream with Butterfinger, Heath, and white chocolate chips).  Next time I'm going to have one of their Signature Creations, since they have much more experience picking flavors that go together. (Hubby's 'Peanut Butter Cup Perfection' was simply dreamy.)

Be sure to throw a tip in the jar!  The staff will sing you one of their many cute 'Thank you' songs!

My family loves Cold Stone, but I kinda like Wendy's chocolate frosty.  I don't like too elaborate stuff on my ice cream, I just like plain O chocolate frosty.  Yeup, Wendy's was right across the street, so we all made out with dessert.

Last night at about 9:45 PM I had my first experience with Cold Stone.

The inside of this place is very clean, with deep earth tones and terra cotta tiles. The ice cream choices are mostly moderate but sometimes a little out there, sort of like CNN's political bias.

The concept of Cold Stone is to paddle a lump of ice cream on a cold slab and pack it into a container too small for the firm wad to fit, a process I imagine is similar to rapper/pimp Ice-T and wife Coco making babies.

In the interest of being different, I ordered cinnamon swirled with the berry flavor ice cream. It was pretty good, but my companion-in-cream thought it was disgusting. She was happier with her vanilla and white chocolate swirled creation. I thought hers was decent, but not as awesome as mine. I like cinnamon a lot.

Our ice cream artist was really nice, and he offered up several samples of the different flavors with a cheerful smile. He was happy to give us extra lids to take home the leftover ice cream, and was great with the suggestions he gave us.

I know this is a chain, but I never went to a Cold Stone Creamery before.  Tonight was my first experience.  I was pretty pleased.  The service was very impressive here.  Both of the servers were very friendly and offered me samples of any flavor I wanted to try.  They told me about their punch card program and offered to field any questions I might have.  I opted for the "Hunka Chunka Burnin' Fudge Sundae".  This had chocolate ice cream, brownies, almonds, whipped cream, and fudge.  This was just delicious, and the flavors all worked together.  And I found the ice cream to be very smooth.  I was also surprised that the sundae survived the drive home without melting.  They are serious about being the COLD Stone Creamery -- I love it.
