I used to live above this laundromat. Every morning, I would wake up to someone lifting up their security gate at 6 AM.
There is a 1 foot gap behind their wall of washing machines. Once we hit December, the heat from the machines and the exposed cold air mixed and created a laundry-nado that went through the ceiling and froze my pipes 8 times, ultimately leading to a Royal Rumble between me, my landlord, the laundromat and five contractors.
I have had a lot of experience with this place unrelated to laundry. But I have done laundry as well (always drop off).
The woman who works the mornings is unbelievably friendly, knows my name and does a great job. Everyone else seems to be annoyed and generally indifferent towards younger people.
When those other people take care of things, I've had several issues with discoloration and bleach spots (I maintain that I didn't buy all-purple kitchen towels).
The location is also kind of tough - it's right past Steinway on Ditmars and next to a busy Trade Fair, so even double parking is next to impossible. On the upside, they are open fairly late (last wash 9:30 PM, close at 11).
This is currently my go-to spot but I could be convinced otherwise. Run away with me, morning woman, to a place where we can both be happier.
