I have not been to a yoga studio I like more than coil yoga. The instructors are welcoming and the classes are challenging. While I went to coil yoga my posture really improved.

Who would of known: the best small yoga studio in the USA? In Fresno?
Since I had to spend a weekend in Fresno, in trying to keep up my practice, I found Coil. After reading all the raving reviews, does it really live up to its expectation!? The answer is yes!
I choose the Saturday morning advance practice. Although I been practicing yoga on and off for 5 years, I only really taken it seriously a few months back.
My first impression of the studio was: Sweet, old downtown brick building. The interior is tastefully decorated, some merchandise, but there are a lot of space to change, rest, and all the props are organized neatly against the wall.
Class was small with 11 students. Diane was sitting in for Katie, detailed, attentive. The paste of the class is medium, and everyone can adjust the post to their level. Towards the end, we were given a little bit of freedom to practice inversion. It was the paste and style that I like, keeping a good flow while focusing on specific post each class.
Well, not sure when it is the next I will be in Fresno, but I would definitely look forward to practice there again.
Thanks! -

I was kind of intimidated when I walked in for the first time, but that immediately changed when I was greeted by the instructor. Everyone, including the people that practice here, are friendly, kind, warm and inviting. I have been to many other studios, and while they're all great in their own way, Coil is the best. You will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
Pros: Great for everyone from first timers to advanced yoginis. They have mats and everything else you'd need for your first session.
Cons: I don't have anything negative to say, but do suggest arriving 10-15 minutes early because some sessions can get pretty packed. -

I had never done yoga before, and so I was very apprehensive. They were so warming, and welcoming and just really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable both on the mat and off.
This place caters to serious yogis and yoginis as well as to beginners. I can't imagine there being a better place to practice yoga.
Serious kudos...COIL was just named one of Fitness Magazine's Best 20 Gyms in America!!!

Let me preface this review with, I only review things on YELP if I'm the first and the place is a hidden gem needing to be uncovered and exposed. However, since Coil is such a pearl of a yoga studio, I'll make an exception. Since Coil hasn't yet been reviewed ad nauseum, let's just add one more here. It doesn't garner 2300 plus reviews like Gary Danko in San Francisco with its 4.5 star rating (We get it YELPERS, Chef Danko can create some great food), but it really is a unique place which deserves praise.
7 years ago I tried yoga at Coil and have been practicing yoga ever since. I've been to other studios in both big cities and in small, practiced in foreign countries, and had some private sessions while vacationing. Point is, I think I have some perspective to base my review on and Coil easily fills the bill.
The bottom line - Coil is great place for the causal practitioner to the seasoned yogi/yogini, man, woman, pregnant woman, or child. It covers all the bases for ability and age, hippie to soccer mom, guys who can't touch their toes to people who can almost twist up into a human pretzel. The instructors are welcoming and insightful. If you are an out of town yoga head who thinks nothing great can be found in Fresno, give this place a try and it might change your perspective. And if you live on the north side of Fresno, do yourself a favor and come downtown to a great studio, NOT found in a strip mall for an authentic experience with brick walls and exposed wood trusses as the back drop. You won't be disappointed. -

I had the pleasure of practicing at Coil today. Lovely atmosphere, friendly & welcoming people, well-balanced class (I took the advanced class)
Fabulous! If I lived closer, I'd go every day.
When I arrived, a children's yoga class was getting out, which I think is fabulous and should happen more. -

COIL Yoga is the best Yoga studio in Fresno and also voted the Best Small Yoga Studio in the USA...I've been practicing yoga for seven years now tried several places and then I walked into the beautiful, peaceful, inviting studio that Katie has created for us and found my home. Katie is not just a teacher, she's an inspiring woman, she is strong, knowledgeable, kind and she does have a great sense of humor, especially when she tells us to hold a pose for 5 minutes, joking of course. COIL Yoga offers many workshops and off-site activities, which are great for the body, mind and soul. Life is sweeter with Katie and her crew...

Coil Yoga is such a beautiful space with incredible instructors. I've taken alot of yoga classes and recently got back from a teacher training myself. Every instructor at Coil is not only qualified to teach yoga safely but they each bring their own unique essence to their classes. Katie's Mid day class is fun & challenging and her honesty and sense of humor keep you as present as the breath work. Plus her intuition & generous adjustments are like having a private instructor in a full class. Diane's Intermediate Vinyasa is a flowing dance and as an instructor she brings a striking balance of grounding and fluidity and feeds her classes with dynamic energy that is practically magical. If you're looking for a kick butt, super focused class, Tanya's Ashtanga style class is awesome. Her teaching style has a perfect balance of strength & sweetness. Also she promotes a sense of individual freedom when she's leading that I really appreciate. My experience of Marie's class made me slow down and pay attention which is great because the tendency in our culture is to charge forward. Marie's energy & voice are like taking a class from Mother Nature herself. And Kellee's class has an easy flow and moderate pace that is perfect for anyone new to the studio. Plus her combination of childlike spirit & bright joy will put a huge smile on your face. They have other great teachers too. I think what's amazing about Coil, particularly coming back with new eyes, is that you can literally drop in to any class, assuming it's appropriate for the level you practice at, and get excellent, knowledgeable instruction and leave feeling like it was more than worth it. Don't walk, run!! to Coil Yoga. It's AWESOME!!!

I'd done yoga at several other places before coming to Coil. Katie and the other instructors are very helpful and truly teach you how to not only do the movements correctly but help you center yourself during your practice. I love the atmosphere at Coil as well, it's very relaxing and you instantly feel comfortable when you walk in. The brick building makes you feel like you're in another City.

Oh how I miss you COIL. The friendly, warm, loving, fun attitude at this studio will always hold a special place in my heart. Dare I say COIL was my saving grace while living in possibly the crappiest place ever, aka Fresno? I wish I had taken advantage of this gem of a studio more often when I lived in Fresno. Katie, the owner, is one of the most inviting and sweetest person who truly embodies a yogic life. She and her other just as great instructors will work you inside and out, physically and emotionally. You'll move, breathe, laugh, sweat, think, feel and maybe even cry. I love this studio!
