What I like about this place is the outside patio -- during the sunny times this is an awesome area to hang out, read, or just enjoy the coffee. I usually get the Havana Latte which is delicious -- the shape of the leaf drawn on the cream says it all.
The indoor area is good for work, but remember you gotta have a mac :) -

I'm hesitant to write a review for this place because I want it all for myself, but I must!
Usually, the SF cafe-worker is faced with a choice: either get great coffee, but have a poor working environment (no outlets, no wifi, uncomfortable seating, judgmental stares from the staff) or have a great working environment but poor coffee.
No longer, says Coffee Bar!
One tip: you might want to bring something warm to wear, as sometimes they leave the door open and it gets pretty chilly. -

#1 - the coffee is amazing
#2 - the food is fresh and delicious
#3 - there are lots of tables and even when it's crowded, you can find a space
#4 - the music is never too loud or annoying
#5 - the people are great -- both the people who work there and the people who frequent it.
#6 - everyone there is working or they're quiet. no annoying chatter-boxes with nothing to do -

I like this coffee shop. I am sitting in it right now.
There's a lot of tables/seats and there are power outlets to plug in along the walls.
There's free wi-fi, the drinks are good, and the employees seem nice.
I like the layout of the building and the hanging lights on the wall.
They have tables that don't allow laptops from 11:30AM-2:30PM. That's sort of cool for the those who just want to chill and talk but can't if every seat is taken with people on their laptops sucked into the internet. -

I never, ever go into coffee shops because I'm generally against the whole sit-around-and-do-nothing-on-your-laptop culture, but this place is pretty sweet. I think I caught it on a good day, too. The outdoor area was gleaming in the sun, and the inside was cozy without being overheated. Plus there's this mesmerizing light fixture thing on the second floor that I couldn't stop staring at.
I had a jasmine green tea, which kept me awake until about 3 a.m., so at least we know it worked. I also indulged in an orange-ginger Dynamo Donut, and I can understand from its light, fluffy texture that all the hype was worth it. When I find myself in this incredibly tranquil little patch of San Francisco again, I'm coming back here for a treat. Sans laptop. -

Loved my Havana Latte = $3.75. Loved the unpretentious barista and cashier. Loved how the sun shone on my back while enjoying my caffe latte art. There is some outdoor seating for a warm day.
Parking - unlimited hours on a couple of streets near by. It's a hit or miss.
Not sure how strong the wifi is or if there are enough outlets.
Will be back! -

Do you own a Mac?
I don't know exactly when this change happened but this excellent coffee shop has turned into the office away from the office. On any given day you can wander in here and see coffee shop chicks and dudes hammering away on their Macs(yup like 99% Macs). Definitely a place to be seen unless you are me. I dig the coffee and the vibe is lofty mission hipster goodness.
Check it out! -

Good morning, Coffee Bar. As one of the only good spaces to do work in, I would say I can see why all of the creatives (aka Mac users) come here. The openness and the sunshine coming into the space just makes your more productive, no? Well, it makes me want to always do work.
Well, that and the coffee is yummy.
I had an all bacon dinner here a couple months ago by Good Foods Catering : http://coffeebar-usa.c...

I came here to study for a big exam. The coffee was really great! The space was also good. However, it gets quite crowded and I ended up sharing a table with three strangers. Definitely worth checking out!

+4 for the space. It's pretty incredirocking. High ceiling, industrial this and that. Cool wood counters, alumaseats. Well thought out.
+10 for the service. Adrian, Liz, Tasha - the whole gang. Everyone is tres cool and ultra-quick on the stick with the coffee drinks. They know their beans and regions and serve a mean grab-n-go lunch sammich as well.
I'm being serious here. And Coffee Bar means serious coffee. So, there - it's like an commercial, isn't it? Just go, you'll get it. -

Yeah, yeah, yeah this place is crawling with hipsters but are we all really surprised? This is SF...
The space itself is actually really nice. And this part of the neighborhood is always pretty quiet so it makes for a peaceful spot both on the porch and inside. While I'm not a devoted hipster, I think I could easily find myself wanting to read or study here if I needed to get out of my apartment.
But beyond the ambiance, the coffee at this place is REALLY good. Blue Bottle remains my favorite and deserve about 7 stars on the 5-star-Yelp-scale, but Coffee Bar easily earns it's 4 stars. I've now tried both their cappuccinos and lattes and think the espresso beans are really unique and delicious. The more specialty drinks (namely Vietnamese coffee and other drinks with condensed milk) look promising as well.
The food menu seems to be pretty simple, but is always fresh and based on whatever they get in that day (or so they told me). Looks to be only about 2-4 breakfast and lunch items per day. The baked goods were also super good - I don't know if they make them in house, but damn, I was impressed.
If you're a coffee enthusiast and are into more local shops in SF, this is a must-try. I will definitely be coming back here (particularly since the parking seems to be pretty easy too). -

BEWARE: CRAWLING WITH HIPSTERS AND OVERPRICED FOOD.
Coffee Bar is kinda hidden behind this wall of green leaves. It was sunny out so a lot of people were sitting outside on their laptops, when I stepped inside, I saw the place CRAWLING with hipsters in every corner. I dropped my jaw in awe. I've never seen so many in one place...
Anyways, so I look at the menu, and some parts of it have french words sprinkled in the description. Um. Okay. I notice the $8-$9 price tag on most items. Eek, I'm on a tight budget. So I go for the soup of the day and salad. All together $6.
The soup and salad were pretty good, everything tasted fresh, but I don't think it was worth $6. Maybe $4, def not $6.
*shivers* hipsters *shivers*...
It was alright, but too rich for my blood. -

The staff was really nice and cheerful, digging the fact that they have designated no laptop tables which is cool. The White Crow sandwich (turkey) was a lil plain jane for 9 bucks in my opinion but the fact that they were bumping Jamiroquai and Erykah Badu most of time I was there earned them an extra star

This is by far my most favorite work spot of all time. I usually do my hw here and stay here almost for long hours. I love it because the tables are shared, so that it promotes socializing while also being able to work as well.
Everyone is always friendly that I've encountered here and the baristas are super sweet!
I really love the coffee here, and I order countless times of the iced Vietnamese coffee and 1 Caramelized Hazelnut Financier....sooooooo good!!!!!
This is definitely my most favorite place to read and do some sketching! Also it is great if you wanna work on your computers. There's so many outlets, hard to find in sf......
Great interior constructed design...lofty warehouse concrete industrial looking....love it! This is def one of my most favorite places I was a regular. -

San Francisco, CA
Coffee Bar is my favorite spot in the city to work. Despite the fact that it's hipster central and it's in the middle of nowhere, it's an awesome place to sit down, concentrate, and get sh*t done. It has a very clean and relaxed atmosphere, tons of outlets, free wifi, and it's usually pretty quiet so you can concentrate. Definitely gets crowded mid-day on the weekends but there are a ton of seats and an outdoor patio, so a spot usually opens up pretty quickly. During lunch there is a time limit on wifi usage.
Food/drink: Their lattes are really good and their chai is nice and spicy. Can't comment on their beer or wine selection, but I know that they do have both available. Boyfriend likes their sandwiches, and I think their salads are just alright. They serve small portions, just the way I like it.
P.S. They just opened a new location on Montgomery between Sutter & Bush in FiDi. -
Review from Patty O.
Ok, first thing I noticed about this place that it is full of hipsters! I'd have to say that 80% of the people here had those thick black framed hipster glasses and were using Macs. Nothing wrong with that, but pretty interesting, how all the hipsters clusters in this area.
I also noted that during lunch hours, there is a sign that says to limit computer usage to 30 minutes for other patrons.
This restaurant serves a variety of coffee, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. I had the turkey sandwich and it was pretty tasty. Served on some fancy bread, with cranberry jam, brie cheese, and other veggies. It made a pretty filling, healthy-ish lunch. Cashier was friendly too. -

Coffee Bar is in such a cool space! I'd like to live in a space like that. The atmosphere is very hip and laid back - a cool hang-out place. The coffee is pretty good. The sandwiches are ok but a bit pricey. I love their ham & cheese croissant and chocolate croissant. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I try to stop by for a latte.
Parking can be very challenging during the weekdays. -

Review #1010.
I love a good cafe with relaxing atmosphere, in a sunny side of neighborhood, lots of space inside and a patio.
Came here to get the last delivery of Tell Tale pastries. They also carry a lot of other pastries. All were delicious. So is the coffee, very aromatic. The cafe is with high ceiling and is very spacious. A lot of people come here to also use the wifi with some electrical outlets. And the sofas make this place feel more like someone's living room. Or you are like me who love to just read a good old paper print book.
The outside patio is also amazing if you want to soak in the warm sun.
The eatery also carries pre-made sandwiches which was just okay. Next time will try the salad instead. -

Coffee Bar, you are clearly doing well so....
Please install darker shades and get air conditioning. It is hard to enjoy your delicious coffee and endless wifi while roasting in your South-facing Gitmo-esque cafe. Seriously it gets insanely hot in there and if you literally go across the street they have air-conditioning, comfy leather chairs and Clover-brewed coffee at Starbucks. Try to follow their way.
Or maybe not. More people were in your place than theirs, astoundingly.
To the newbie, I would advise you to stay far from the windows and look for the electric plugs to be hidden under the tables. They also segregate the unemployed laptop community off on the edges of the room so the employed people can eat at the tables and babble on about the exciting start-up they work for. -

San Francisco, CA
I used to love this place, back when the food was good and worth the price, even though I never sat down with a lap top on my table.
Last week we order the grilled cheese sandwich $9 and the poached salmon sandwich $11, both special of the day, it was a joke! there was a very small piece of cheese that did not even cover the bread, it was cold, and definitely not worth the $9, and the salmon... another tiny piece in a burger bun with mayo. I showed the cheese sandwich to the staff behind the counter, but the person making coffee did not like a bit that I brought it up to their attention. In a bad tone, he asked me if I wanted my money back or if I wanted something else, I say no, just want you to be aware that your standards are not what it used to be, judging by his face, he really did not like that comment either.
I can understand how everyone is struggling in this economy, but if that place is full of hipsters that work/sit there for hrs and don't spend much money, no wonder is going down.
I do think this place has the best coffee in town. -

Their Havana latte is really really good . It's kinda sweet but not too sweet ... it's perfect . The texture of it was really nice ... very light and foamy . I also had one of their pastries which was not bad . I forgot what it's called but it kind of looks and tastes like a Madeleine . They have upstairs seating as well as outdoor seating . They have sandwiches as well as wine . I think their outdoor seating would be good for enjoying a cup of coffee or wine with a sandwich on a sunny day .

LOVE. THIS. SPACE. Wide open, good light, and two levels with a garden in front. A little put off by the "30 minute limit" signs on some of the tables, but I know that they do that so that laptop gypsies don't camp there. I just wanted to stay longer than 30 minutes with my good old fashioned paper notebook, and the only tables open were 30-minute ones. Luckily, another space opened up a short while later.
I'm looking forward to going back again and again to try things...but know this: their cookies are delicious and iced tea brisk and refreshing. The service is great and restroom clean. -

San Francisco, CA
I found this place old-school style -- wandering around the neighborhood in desperate need of a bathroom and food looking for any place without a line out the door.
I've always liked the feng shui of the space, I remember when it was a brew pub. New business is doing a great job with the space, it's modern but comfortable, light, airy, clean, peaceful.
REALLY nice employees. Fantastic music. And a breakfast sandwich on the menu, with frisee and a perfectly runny yolk.
My only quibble -- and it's not really, more just a newbie issue -- is I didn't get my food for 25 minutes -- just long enough for me to start wondering if they'd lost my ticket.
In today's age of the exposed kitchen, I had forgotten the downside of chaos hidden from the patron, I assumed since things didn't look busy that they must not be busy, I'd just suggest you ask how long they think it might take if time is an issue at all. -

stumbled across this gem on my way home, such a find! the space is gorgeous and quite spacious. great place to work. the coffee is of course awesome but i was super impressed by their kitchen. i had the tomato soup, a lil on the sweet side but with cheese in it, totally delicious. also had the tonno salad - tuna, eggs, arugula, mozzarella, and balsamic vinaigrette - delicious! had a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, baked goods. cant wait to go back to go through the menu and get a glass of wine!

They still have good coffee and food but their service has turned to pure fecal matter.
Having recently taken on the role of motherhood, I always drink decaf these days. And with the lovely weather we've been having, I've been wandering over to the Coffee Bar and grabbing a coffee and sitting outside on their patio. I have had four orders in a row messed up. Now I grant you they are very nice and fix it immediately. However, when I pointed out the fact that I'd had an order messed up FOUR times running, the barista says to me that you know, you get into a rush and just make what most people order. Dude - it was 11:20 which is not lunch rush as I recall. There were a few people in line and it wasn't out the door. I repeated the order twice since the cashier was distracted the first time.
I like to patronize local, but I think I'll keep going down the block to Starbucks. At least they can keep an order straight.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Coffee Bar is a pretty solid place that at first glance, given the line-- seems like a snooty upscale artisinal roaster- you know who I'm talking about. I was a little surprised to find that its assortments and methods are closer to your mainstream coffee supplier.
No single-drip coffee here, it's all big batch brew into giant hot pots (that means a cheaper cup). Cheap coffee, outdoor seating and a really cool layout with decent architecture gives Coffee Bar four stars shining brightly. -

Havana Latte - Surprisingly Good.
Sandwiches - Good but not filling
Salads - I don't know. I don't order salads.

I. Love. It. Here.
Open, airy, quiet -- lots of outlets, even more semi-hipsters w/ Macbooks -- and delicious caffeiney beverages.

All of my knowledge of San Francisco cafes is incredibly outdated, from the time when I had money to spend on these things. This is illustrated by my experience with Coffee Bar, when I went in last weekend to ask for a coffee from the Clover machine. The barista said they didn't have one, and I said "Well you used to!". He replied "Yup.... like, 2 years ago".
Oops.
So, headsup y'all -- no more Clover!Listed in: caffeine and wifi please!

"Oh my god, it's full of macbooks!"
.... aside from that, it's a pretty nice place to work, read, meet, fix a bicycle, or have a coffee or beer.
And for some reason it turns into a restaurant after 6pm - oh well. -

Great lofty space, very simple straight-lines decor. Another spot popular by the MacMuppies (see previous review for Summit). Lots of outlets, including under the tables! Genius! No need to bring the extension cord. Coffee and food are nothing special. But alcoholic drinks are served, and having a cold beer whilst working is always nice. (Yes, I'm actually working from here)
As I write this, news has come out of Steve Jobs' death. How much he's influenced our lives as I look around and see Macs, iPhones, and iPads. I think he would've liked the minimalistic design of this place. RIP Steve Jobs. -

Mission alley hideaway - a great spot!
First thing you notice, it's a cyclists locale, lots of bikes locked up outside.
Next thing, outdoor seating in the sun.
Inside, delicious food menu filled with creative sandwiches, salads and a soup of the day. Also available, coffee and baked goods.
Good to note, this place seems to have free wifi and lots of room to set up and do work or whatnot. Very chill space. -

Keeping it short and sweet: great appropriated warehouse space converted to a coffee/cafe spot. The havana latte is great, as is the tomato soup.
Great little couches and tables-- definitely conducive to conversation.
How amazing to find a gem of a caffeine space that has indoor, outdoor and parking space! -
Review from Kel C.
Three stars for the eats and drinks. Regardless of the food, this is an awesome place to chill.
When I walked into this joint, I saw so many Apple laptops/iPads/iPhones I thought I had walked into an Apple store. This must be the secret lair of Apple fanboys and SF start-ups. The space is large and airy with free wi-fi available. Convenient for checking FB on your laptop while pretending to look important and busy with lots of innovative dot-com ideas.
They run out of certain foods towards the end of the night, so be aware. I ordered a portabella sandwich on foccacia and ended up with a turkey club on a baguette. Decent sandwich, $1 overpriced. -

AH love this place..new favorite area to come study, if only it wasn't so far from daly city! plenty of seating, plugs, lighting is also good. no air conditioning so it was kind of uncomfortable later on in the day with tons of people there...it was manageable though. coffee wasn't the best i ever had but i just got a iced coffee..will try a latte or something next time! 4 stars for overall atmosphere, great and friendly service, and coffee 10X better than starbucks!
