I may have been super lucky, but I had a really good time here.

I bought the Spa ManiPedi from TravelZoo. They had a hiccup with my appointment because I clearly booked for Sunday (wrote it down twice in 2 different places yet online it said Saturday).  It wasn't a big deal though, because the experience I had was fantastic. They actually put me at 930am, even though they usually open at 10. This allowed a more relaxing atmosphere, as there were less people in the Spa for the majority of the time I was there.

Took a min to get inside (you get in through the first floor, but the door is hidden). When I walked in, I was greeted immediately, and they were expecting me. I chose my nail colors and headed to the seating area. I was impressed by how classy the place was, especially the yoga and massage area - dark and calm, which has a TOTALLY different atmosphere compared to the Nails area - near the window and bright.

Anyways, my appointment was with Hanh. I've never had a pedi so it was great. My toenails are not in the best shape, and I'm sure they are better now from the pedi. My feet were massaged and lotioned. The water temperature was kind of hot to begin with, but it allowed a lukewarm temperature to stay for the duration of the mani-pedi.

Hanh was really friendly and suggested some other nail colors instead of my very light colour that I chose. The mani was a similar process.

I want to point out that I love their simplicity of the interior. It did get a little squishy when more customers came in though, and I was a little confused about where to put my stuff initially. They were helpful when I relocated to the drying area.

Customers all get served water and cookies and wine (if youre over 21 :P), which was a nice touch.

During payment, they almost couldnt find my Voucher Number from Travelzoo for some reason, but they figured it out.

I would definitely come back here again, maybe to get do waxing or massage services.

I've got mixed feelings about this place. Tucked away in a more deserted FiDi area, Cocoon is easily missed especially since you have to walk into a building to get to the spa entrance. It's shared tenant is a brunch place called Local. Any way, my gals and I decided to go because we all bought a Travel Zoo deal $25 for $52 worth of their spa mani/pedi. SCORE!  I couldn't make an appointment via their easy to use website because I was using a deal for my session. So I called in. Granted it was late notice (3 days prior) and with their rave reviews from Vogue, I figure it would be full that weekend morning. But I thought, hey it was worth a shot.

The girl who answered the phone was polite but right of the bat without even checking first she says, "I'm pretty sure we're full that day, but let me check." My initial reaction was "ok, yea I know it was short notice but seriously? couldn't you just check before you deny me?" She comes back and goes, "Hi, it looks like we DO have an appointment!" lucky me! *insert sarcasm here* To be honest, I didn't let this dictate my impression of the place. I still had a really sweet deal!

So the day came for my appointment. My friend and I were 10-15 min late because it was raining and the place isn't super easy to spot. However, we had another friend in our group who was there on time. Apparently even then, she felt like she was rushed to pick a color. When my friend and I finally got there, we were told because we were 15 minutes late, they had to make either our mani or pedi session into an express one. I've been late to sessions around the city but I always felt like the places accommodated even when we were that late. I mean it's fine. We were late. I understand you have a business to run.

The only thing that bugged me was the fact that our friend who was on time got the full spa mani/pedi treatment but her session was started just a couple of minutes before ours and took the same amount of time as my session. So what I don't get is why we had to downgrade when it took exactly the same time to do the full treatment? The full mani consisted of an extra lotion rub that didn't take 15 minutes that we were late for. Maybe they just didn't have enough man-power? They had some empty chairs. I don't know.

The Good: The staff was absolutely sweet! They were very professional and friendly. They also did a good job on my nails. Although they may have been pressed for us to give up the chair, they let us hang out in the drying area for a little bit to enjoy our tea. It was really nice of them.

Free champagne, tea, water, cookies were a plus. Definitely was a nice touch!  The spa itself was also quite comfortable and clean. It felt like a page from Vogue itself. There were cozy rooms in the back for massages they offer. The treatment itself was ok. It consisted of a sugar scrub for the spa pedi but it wasn't very memorable. And the express mani was just simply a cut, file, and paint. For the deal, it was definitely worth it. For full price, I would have to explore other options. They are quite fast though, so it would be ideal for your typical business gal in the need of a speedy pick me up between meetings.

I still don't understand why this place has gotten rave reviews....total mind puzzler to me.

I got a groupon from this place, but before purchasing it I yelped it to make sure it was legit and from the reviews I was expecting a hell of a lot more than i got. This place in in SOMA where there is plenty of metered street parking. When you first arrive you're immediately greeted and offered cucumber water or champagne which is a nice touch, but then the mediocrity begins. The sofa chairs are comfy, but no massage chairs and no foot spas?!? The women are really sweet and talented but I didn't find my pedicure/manicure anything spectacular. I saw the price list and WOW to be charged that much for a mani/pedi is insane. So not worth it to me....

Since my last review, I have been back for both a mani/pedi and a massage. Both were excellent. The mani/pedi was probably the best experience- champagne and cookies served while relaxing in your chair and getting your nails done- you can't beat that combo! The owner, Sarah, is extremely sweet and makes you feel comfortable. Cocoon also has great yoga classes and they are located in SOMA where parking is fairly easy to find. Just avoid the head massage (per my previous review) and you are guaranteed to have a pleasant experience!!!

I come here for yoga on Saturday mornings.  The instructor, Mandy, is pretty good.  It is a nice, small class so you get individual attention.  This is not, however, a yoga studio.  It is a room in a building that is mainly a day spa.  No chanting, no changing area, fewer props and  there is noise from the other services.  But, I am okay with it, considering the location is convenient and the price is good (10 classes for $110).  Some of the other teachers I've had at other times aren't as good.  Not sure they are certified and/or as experienced.  Not the best, not the worse yoga.  It is a 3 star place.

Amazing! I always get gel manicures because my nails are SO thin that regular manicures typically chip within a day. But I was under a time constraint so I just went ahead with their standard spa mani/pedi and I couldn't be happier! Never in my life have I had a standard manicure that didn't chip and here I am, a week later and they're still perfect!

Thin nails + a job where I type all day everyday = a recipe for disaster when it comes to manicures...but Jon is a miracle worker.

And to add to a perfect mani/pedi, the staff is super sweet, very accommodating and liberal with the champagne!

I love Cocoon Day Spa. I have been coming here since 2010 and this is my haven. Veronica (aka spirit fingers) is an amazing person. she gives the best massages and my body thanks her.
Lauren does all my waxing such an angel. i have the lowest pain threshold but she has somehow managed to keep me coming back every 4 weeks.

Sarah the owner is amazing, i had a skin issue and she and lauren really helped me with this. I am forever grateful!!

Here I go busting myself out again about what happens in my nether regions...

Trips to Hawaii call for Brazillian waxing. Armed with a Groupon, I went to my fave waxing biz, Cocoon. I don't go very often but when I do it's for a special occasion. I was bummed when my fave esthetician left awhile back but luckily for me Cocoon hires quality people.

    Notables:

    -Squeaky clean facilities
    -Fast, fast, fast
-As painless as it can get (although still painful)
-Friendly service from front desk to esthetician
    -Free champagne while you wait!!!!

I've been to Cocoon twice now, and both have been positive experiences. The first time was two weekends ago when I desperately needed a manicure. I've been growing my nails out for awhile now and although they grew out very long and nice, they were all becoming uneven, some jagged, some angled - just not looking good at all. I chose Cocoon for my appointment since I had seen it before, they have great reviews, and it's literally a block away from home.

On my first visit, I got the spa mani with Hanh. At first I wasn't used to sitting on comfortable couches for a mani, but it ended up being very relaxing. Hanh did a wonderful job and even a week and a half later (today), my french manicure still looks great and intact - no chips!

Fast forward a week later and it's my best friends birthday. I decided to take her here for spa pedis since I love the environment of Cocoon and they pour champagne during your appointment. This time, we were running late for our appointment and I called to let them know, and they glady pushed our appointment back 15 minutes.

Pedi experience was also great, and the girlfriends enjoyed it a lot. I LOVE the loft area that the manis and pedis are done in. I love loft type areas and also the view from this room. (I saw on their website you can actually rent this space out - maybe I'll have to try this one day). I also met the owner during my last visit, who is such a sweetheart.

I am now very curious about their Yoga classes, especially because they have a coupon on their site. I miss taking Yoga classes, and since this place is within walking distance, it is definitely a desirable location for me.

Great place - I am very glad that this place is so close to home. I can stroll to my appointments and not have to worry about parking.

I suppose I'm a "girly girl" in the sense that I like my nails long and pink, and while I don't go out of my way to make sure they are in top femme fatale condition all the time, I will absolutely jump on a 50% off mani/ pedi offer like the one Cocoon had going last month. Top that with 4-star Yelp reviews, and you've got yourself a deal.

I loved Cocoon before I even arrived. Sarah (the owner, it turns out) made my appointment over the phone and was just delightful. I explained that it was a mother-daughter spa day, so she made sure we had our mani/ pedis done at the same time, and patiently worked with me to find a day that fit in my uncooperative schedule. Viola, Saturday morning was set.

We took a stroll through SOMA, up to Cocoon. The spa is a lovely little oasis with all sorts of pampering services like facials, yoga, massage, and of course: champagne and cookies to accompany your treatments.

I loved that it was totally unlike an average nail salon with chattering technicians and mechanical foot baths. Instead, it's a quiet atmosphere with mellow music, cushy leather recliners, and big copper foot tubs with floating flower petals. Very spa-like.

Now, here's the important part: my nails looked fantastic! My mani lasted an entire week with no chips (my pedicure is still going strong, 3 weeks later). I'm posting a photo so you can see how glorious the paint-job was.

    Fond memories of Cocoon!

I HEART Cocoon! The entire staff is very flexible and helfpul and the owner is so sweet. Veronica and Sandra give the most wonderful massages. I have chronic neck and back pain and both were able to work out a lot of the tension, while still helping me relax. Lily and Lauren are great waxers - so fast and efficient. I have tried so many spas and must say that Cocoon is at the top of my list for waxing, massages and mani/pedis!

I also came because of a Groupon and booked a pedicure and it was sub par. I had high expectations given the original price of the service and that it's a day spa, not just a cheap pedi spot. They made the payment difficult with the Groupon since you have a pay a deposit. The massage was really kind of creepy, the woman barely used any pressure so it was like she was petting my legs the whole time, really unpleasant. I was clearly cringing as she was doing it. Yes, they bring you cookies which is great but mine was melted and melted all over my hands.

And after all that - the polish job was NOT good! Two toes smudged right away and after three days the polish chipped. I'd much rather go to my neighborhood spot that charges $20 and get a good polish that lasts. I won't come back.

Recliners that grab me back and kick up my feet for the ultimate mani-pedi! Got some zzzz's during the process and came out with great looking nails!

    The +'s:
+ it's a great place to dip your feet in basins of hot rose petaled water
+ great selection of OPI and Essie nail colors. Some bottles did look dry but at least selection was expansive.
+ didn't get rushed! thanks! i lied back, kicked up my feet, and dozed while my feet and hands were getting worked
+ it's dog friendly!!! yeaaaaaaaaaaah! please bring dog if he/she is behaved. nothing worse than having a yelping dog while others are trying to get some relaxation
+ got served a choice of sweets and beverage which are complimentary. opt for cinnamon twists or cookies. pair it with tea, water or champagne.
+ pretty quiet spot except sometimes for a truck that may roll by on folsom street
+ nail technicians were super friendly and attentive! i really liked them!

    The -'s:
    - out of the way and not really near any shopping district.
    - street parking so come early to hunt for a space

    Review for waxing:
+ First time waxer. Check website for type of waxing you want below the belt. It helped me decide what style I wanted.
+ Lily was great and patient with me. As first-timer I was pretty nervous.
    + Looks great! Can't complain!

    - Can't say it was the most pleasant experience but since it was my first time. Will return in 5 weeks for a follow-up and since the hair will be much shorter I don't expect as much pain!

I think the best thing about Cocoon may be its owner Sarah. She's definitely a great business woman and is gracious enough to make it up to you if you were not satisfied with the experience.

If you read my previous comment, you'll notice that I went with three of my friends and although they messed up my nails the most, she kindly comped all of us since my friends had to wait around for the ladies to fix my nails.

Since I was busy, my friends then went back without me and had a great experience. I wasn't looking forward to going back because I was going by myself and Sarah kindly offered to comp a mani/pedi for a friend of mine! Is that great service or what?? To tell you the truth, I was pretty upset about my previous experience, so I honestly didn't think anything could change that, but Sarah offering to comp my friend just went above and beyond my expectations.

Gosh, the spa mani/pedi I had was just a treat to the senses. I felt really pampered and really loved the part where they soaked our feet in this warm paraffin wax mixture.

Would I go back there again? It's hard to say because I don't get my nails done all the time and I usually default to a cheap nearby salon when I do. I'll go if it's a special occasion (showing a friend/family member from out of town around who wants some pampering or some kind of birthday treat for someone), but not sure if I'll splurge without a coupon.

Suffice to say if anything goes awry with your experience, you can always take comfort in the fact that Sarah will have your back!

I had been wanting to go to Cocoon after my co-worker told me that they serve champagne! A Travelzoo deal came up for a mani & pedi so it was the perfect opportunity for me to try this place.

I booked an appointment for both me and a friend. Since I work two buildings down, I got there on time. I thought they were going to be super strict about my friend being 15 minutes late, but they were actually super nice about it. When I first walked in, I was surprised to see how tiny the place is. There's a cute living room area near the receptionist where they sell lingerie and jewelry. The wall of nail polishes isn't as big as other nail salons I've been to, but they have the brands I love - O.P.I & Essie.

The receptionist asked if I wanted mint water, herbal tea, or champagne before heading over to my seat in one of their la-Z-boy chairs (so comfy!). I had two people working on me at the same time - Anna for my pedicure and Jenny for my manicure. They were so sweet! While waiting for my nails to dry, they would offer me plates of freshly cut strawberries and baked cookies. Jenny even recommended that I try their pistachio cookies over the others, and they were so delicious!

I decided to go back to work after getting my nails done and ruined my toes during the walk (I opted out of wearing the slippers they provide). I called and asked if I could come back later to get them redone and they were happy to. When I came back, it looked busy but Anna was so nice about fixing my pedicure. I was very satisfied with my manicure and pedicure as well as the service here! Looking forward to coming back whenever I need a relaxing break from work :)

Cocoon is EXPENSIVE and unfortunately does not deliver the same quality as other nearby nail salons that charge less. I've never been to a nail spa where the technician leaves me with wet fingernails and tissue still in my toes, with no assistance whatsoever with my shoes, jacket, etc. By the time I paid and left the place, I saw that I already smudged 2 nails from struggling to take my flip flops out of my bag and get dressed. Considering my technician's nonchalant attitude, I didn't bother going back. The entire mani/ pedi session seemed rushed and lacked precision and attention. The foot bath was scalding hot and upon closer inspection, my nail color was a little patchy on a couple fingers. Thank goodness I had a Groupon, because if I had to spend $52 plus tip on a quick & simple, self-service mani/pedi, I would've felt greatly annoyed. That said, I will not be back. And now need to get my mani redone.

I went to Cocoon for a mani/pedi because of a Travelzoo deal my friends and I purchased.  Because they couldn't schedule us all at the same time, I went by myself, and the others were scheduled 2 hours later.

The salon seems very hygienic and uses bowls instead of spa tubs for pedis.

When I arrived, I was offered water or tea, but not champagne or cookies, though these were offered to other customers.  After awhile I flagged down one of the employees who was carrying drinks to other customers, and she brought me a generous glass of champagne.

I waiting about 10 minutes before someone began my pedi, but the nail tech was nice enough to apologize for the delay.  She was very pleasant, but I have to say that I was disappointed in the quality and efficiency of her work.

    1. I was told that my pedi + shellac french mani would take 75 minutes.  I had another appointment in 90 minutes, so I figured it would be ok.  When it became clear that I was not going to get out in time to make the appointment, I pushed it back 30 minutes.  I was STILL late as the entier process took 120 minutes!  That's 40 minutes longer than I was promised.  My friends actually arrived for their appointment before I was finished.  I told the nail tech to skip the arm massage and just ran for the cash register.  The person who rang me up seemed unconcerned when I told her about the discrepancy in quoted time and the fact that I was now late for an appointment.  She did not have any reply when I quickly explained this.

    2. Most of the 2 hours was spent on the shellac french mani.  I have had many of these before at other salons, but this one both took longer and was lower quality than any I have experienced thus far.  I had to point out that the line of white polish was wavy on several fingers before she attempted to fix it, and most of my nails had globs of shellac at the edges and underneath my nails.  The finished product isn't horrible, but it's certainly not eye-catching and was not worth $35.  The nail tech told me it took longer because I wanted my nails so short.  What?!

I came here to get my nails done to attend a wedding, and because it is fairly pricey, I won't have it re-done, but I was tempted.

I've read a number of other reviews that complain about Cocoon's service, then say the owner contacted them.  It's a nice touch to try to make things right with an unhappy customer, but the best way to do that it to improve the actual experience or respond to issues when they occur, not apologize later on.  I will not be returning to Cocoon.

Let me start by saying I wish I could give a better review, but when 2 employees follow you to your car and confront you about not leaving a tip for bad service, well...

This review is for a brow wax and cocoon pedicure.

The positive is the wax technician did a nice job, but I have no idea what happened in getting a room ready because she had to usher me back to the lobby until a new room was available. So, about 20 minutes wait from the time I arrived/checked in until this service.

I understand that I was the last appointment of the day, but if you're running behind, please don't penalize the customer. As for the 60-minute cocoon pedicure, it was so hurried that it probably lasted only 30 minutes. I don't even know if I received the full treatment because this was my 1st time there. But I also should have known something was going to be wrong when I can overhear the pedicure technician be upset with the receptionist over having to give me a pedicure.

They also couldn't get me out of the door fast enough. I paid for the services between services, which is fine, but if you are going to be unprofessional by getting your jacket and purse before you get me out of the chair, and other co-workers are lingering with their stuff, then I'm going to leave too. Especially if you're just going to send me on my way without even waiting for the nail polish to dry - no dryer or quick dry spray.

And then to top it off, I'm followed to my car and confronted by the pedicure technician and her co-worker about not leaving a tip. Really? Suffice it to say I will not be going back.

UPDATE: I was contacted by Cocoon and was given a very gracious apology, etc., which I appreciate. They definitely care about their customers and will go the extra length to make sure the service they provide is up to expectations. As long as my experience isn't replicated, I will be happy.

I don't consider myself extremely picky about my mani/pedis, but I've definitely had better than Cocoon.

I purchased a Travelzoo deal that was $25 pre-tip for a spa mani/pedi, which is $52 without a discount. I've paid $26-28 (without a coupon) at other places for the same level of service or better.

On top of that, my fingernails weren't painted all the way and appeared to grow out faster than usual. My nails started chipping within a week, which does not usually happen. I compared notes with friends who went to Cocoon to get their nails done too, and they felt the same.

I wasn't a fan of the bowls (instead of spa tubs), the flower petals in the water (which had to be picked off my legs), the chairs, or the atmosphere. However, that's all very subjective... but what isn't on Yelp? :)

Sisters and I got a groupon here for the manicure and pedicure.  They are quite expensive.  For the price of the sale, it is the price of a regular manicure and pedicure.

The service was okay.  The thing is if you are paying premium (which is the normal price), you expect premium service.  At my regular salon, they roll up my pants, help me with my flip flops after a pedi and help me a bit.  Here, I rolled my own pants, put on my own shoes, took out my own separator for pedicure.  It was okay here....

Positive note is my sister brought my niece and they let her change to mani for her and mani for my niece for that groupon....

I would not be coming back...

    Woo hoo...FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally I was able to try a place that has been bookmarked on my list since FOREVER!!!!

I was truly amazed and loved it!!!

Last year I bought a groupon for a mani/pedi for Cocoon and yesterday I finally used it.

This place is located on top of a wine bar...however convenient :)  As soon as you walk in the aroma of the peppermint hits you and instantly de-stresses you.  When you walk upstairs the decor is cute and quaint.

You check in at a middle section that has great hats, jewelry, lingerie and clothes around.  You're quickly escorted where you sit, pick your nail color and then the relaxation begins.

Complimentary champagne, tea, cucumber water to your liking.  And OMG...I don't drink bubbly but you get REFILLS!!! What the what??? I've never see bubbly refills.  LOL

My cuticles were cut to perfection!!!!  I had a broke and hurt toe nail and I told the pedicurist to please be careful and I swear, I never felt a thing.

The service was great and I am definitely going to try the waxing and the massage services.

This place surely isn't cheap so be careful because things add up :)

Parking kinda sucks and is metered.

    Total damage - $40 groupon, spa mani/pedi $52, balance plus tip $17 :)

Since discovering Cocoon last year, it has become the first place in San Francisco I think of when I need a little self maintenance.

A couple Sundays ago I arrived back in the City with shaggy eyebrows and raggedy nails. At brunch I realized I needed to do something about it and rang Cocoon. They fit me right in for a mani, pedi and eyebrow wax. I got to relax, catch up on magazines and the real surprise: eyebrows with an arch! Previously, this was never possible but the gal at Cocoon waxed, snipped and plucked me to nicer looking eyebrows than I have ever seen grace my face.

    Me likeeeee!!!

I bought 3 ultimate mani/pedi packages and treated my sisters (I know, so nice of me).  I tried to use their online booking service but couldn't figure out how to book 3 appointments at the same time, so, I just called to book the appointments.  The person who booked us was very nice and was able to give me the time that I asked for.  Super!

This place served your choice of champagne, tea, or water... of course, I picked the champagne.  I was a bit loopy afterwards but so were all the other patrons.

We sat next to each other, which was great but I was left alone soaking my feet in rose petal water while my 2 sisters got serviced first.  when my manicurist finally came to me, she apologized but with champagne in my system, I was a-o-k and wasn't upset (champagne does that to you).

The manicurist was absolutely detail oriented.  My cuticles have never looked better.  She scrubbed and massaged my legs and arms.  The arm/hand massage was very memorable, she put really good pressure on my arms and hands, it felt so gooooood!  After my mani was done, the manicurist looked at each one of my fingers to make sure she didn't miss a spot!  I've never had someone quality control their own work before.  FANTASTIC!!

The entire experience took over 2 hours long.  They took their time with the details and didn't make you feel like one of those small nail production shop...you know what I mean!

Pedi: cuticle, scrub, massage, lotion, heated feet mittens and a hot towel rub down, base coat, main coat and top coat.
Mani: cuticle, scrub, massage, lotion, heated hand mittens, hot towel rub down, base coat, main coat and top coat and quality control

On a side note, I've been here for yoga classes, which made me sweat and sore the next day.

Anyway, I'll be back for the shellac manicure service someday.  I love saying that word...shellac!

I love Cocoon! I first found this place a few years back because it was close to my work and my coworker and I wanted to get a quick manicure. The environment is soo nice and peaceful. I think as soon as you enter you start to feel relaxed :) and also start to lower your voice.. because it's so calm inside.

I've gotten manicure, wax, and lash tint. For the manicure and wax, I don't think the actual service/result is thaaat special. The manicurists are still asian ladies (just like the ghetto places). So you're really just paying for the environment/atmosphere... and they give you champagne and tea :)

I did the lash tint last week. I already have black eyelashes but i thought the lash tint would make it even darker, almost as if I'm wearing mascara. But after doing it, it wasn't all that different. So I wouldn't recommend it if you already have dark lashes.. plus it really burns :(

After an initial scheduling problem (2 - mani / pedis), I was surprised at how pleasant my experience was.  My friend and I were greeted warmly, & offered champagne & chocolate chip cookies (yum!) while we soaked.   The environment was clean and welcoming.  The ladies did an amazing massage and were friendly, talkative & funny.  Thank you!

I would be happy to come back for service here. It won't become my regular pedi spot as it is a little pricey but, definitely my special occasion place.

-My feet are still baby soft 5 days later =)

BEST WAX EVER!!! Been to many many places around the bay area and this place was by far the best. Lilly is great! Very fast, non painful, and efficient! I was in and out of there in 20 mins. I definitely recommend it if you shy away from waxes because they hurt or take too long.

Great place, i will definitely be going back!

I came here for the first time on my birthday for a manipedi.

Extremely professional, very clean, and the manicure was tip top. I loved the color, it came out amazing. They offer you hot tea or champagne while you're getting your manicure ! I don't know if this is a regular thing they do but they also served me homemade cookies that were nomS. My then boyfriend sat right next to me on an empty chair and they even offered him a complementary glass of champagne and cookies !

The manipedi was relaxing and the massages felt good. She put this gooey green stuff on my arms and legs to make them super soft... it was kind of scorching hot but whatevs, I'm not going to be a baby about it. I'll definitely be back again !

Did I mention they serve you complementary champagne or tea?

Review for Pedicure and Manicure Only!!

    This is what I ordered:
    Spa Pedi
Start with a soothing, awakening red-current and white tea footbath, followed by a thorough exfoliation, shaping, cuticle care and our signature foot and leg massage.
    $35 for 45 minutes

As you enter the building you walk up the stairs and check-in with the receptionist.  They give you a piece of paper which lets the person know what type of service you want.  From there you pick your color (good selection of colors)...here is where it goes downhill for me.  As I enter the room I notice the number of recliner chairs.  YES!!! I said recliners the one's you have in your living room when your watching tv (the big cushiony one).  It took a few minutes until someone finally directed me to a seat.  So as I sit down, my entire body just sinks.  Granted I'm a shorty and this recliner is huge.  As I sit there, I'm wondering hmmm how does this work?  Here comes a lady and brings this HUGE copper bowl with water with some type of flower petals floating around.  She starts removing the existing polish from my toes and starts her cleaning/cutting regiment...with a VERY short massage to my calves.  In the end I said to myself..."NEVER AGAIN!!!  I paid $35 for that.  That's more like a polish change.  I've received better pedicures.  The chairs where so uncomfortable, it didn't even have a built in massage for your back and it is so disgusting, there was dirt in the cracks.  YUCK!!!

As for the manicure, my cousin ended up getting it and as I am watching her it looked so uncomfortable (and she agreed) they do the manicure on the same recliner as the pedicure and you have to twist your hand or reach to the other side to hand them your hand.  They don't do the manicure facing forward.  It's off to the side.

BTW-we made an appointment for this place and they didn't start my cousin's pedicure/manicure until an hour later.  The worst part was someone was already starting with her and the receptionist pulled her off to give her to another customer who needed an express mani/pedi.  The reason behind it was because the lady did not look at the schedule.  Umm..we were there before her??  As an added plus they gave by cousin her mani/pedi on the house, only because she complained.

I had such a great experience here! Have been twice- the first time was with a friend for a mani/pedi because she scored a groupon deal. We had such a good time and loved it so much I wanted to come back and bring my mom. Ended up bringing my mom, aunt, a friend and my niece. The staff at Cocoon were so accommodating, friendly and just awesome. The champagne was a-flowin and we couldn't have been happier. The mani/pedis are relaxing and they do a really great job. Both times my manicure lasted way longer than usual. This is a wonderful place to come with the ladies you love and have a relaxing fun day out. I highly recommend Cocoon- thanks Sarah!!

I really admire Sarah, the owner of Cocoon Urban Day Spa. After reading my review, she got in touch to apologize for the atypical experience I had during my mani/pedi. She assured me that her staff is trained to be friendly, professional, and to give top notch service. I believe her.

She clearly cares about her guests and wants us to receive stellar service. Because of Sarah, I upped my review to 3-stars until I am able to return and have a more positive experience!

Got a Groupon for 15 yoga classes and was only ever able to schedule one, despite multiple calls and daily checks of their website.  They would rarely pick up the phone over the course of months, and then they set up a yoga class scheduling calendar on their website and every class, plus all of its overflow spaces were full for all of the time available.

Their space is beautiful and includes the yoga room, spa area, and even a restaurant, but the management of all of it seems a bit loose.  They obviously did not anticipate how many Groupons they would sell for their single, 8-person Yoga room.

The one class I did make it to, the teacher was very good and the experience was very relaxing.

Another downside with their location is that parking can be downright impossible.  The friend who was going to join me for Yoga was driving there and eventually gave up looking for parking and went home.

I'd love to say I love this place, but my personal experience wasn't good.

Just went here with the BFF and thought the whole experience was ok. If we didn't get the discounted deal, I think I'd be more disappointed because at the cost of the mani and pedi combo we were paying for, I'd expect a more luxurious salon experience. They try, they really do but it's just doesn't do it for me.

Full disclosure - I have been seeing Megan for years for both facials, waxing and the occasional massage and there is a reason why I keep going back.  She is professional, on time and very caring.  She has turned my skin around and many people think I am 10 years younger than I am.  I credit Megan.  She is also the one I went to for my first wax because she is so calming and professional.

I went in for a long overdue waxing last night and Megan did a great job. Again. Waxing is never a fun experience but Megan keeps the conversation moving and makes the 15 mins on the table as painless as possible. The glass of complimentary champagne helps as well!

Cocoon Urban Day Spa is IT, people! This little haven holds all the amenities you could wish for, and more. The atmosphere is welcoming and contemporary and becomes instantly soothing moments after your arrival. I have been hearing wonderful things about Cocoon for a while now but had never been there, until I got word that the uber-talented Megan Linney was their new skincare headliner. Megan has revamped and revitalized their product lines and techniques, offering nothing but the best and latest technology for their clients. They now carry the complete line of SkinCeuticals and let me tell you, I'm LOVING each product that comes out of those pretty blue boxes (If you're concerned about cost, once you start using the products it instantly becomes SO WORTH IT!).

Megan's facials are a dream come true! I'm someone who generally endures quite a bit of pain (extractions-yuck!) during facials and Megan is highly efficient, minimizing any discomfort with amazing, clear results! The other, more enjoyable parts of the facial (masques and such) are extremely soothing and she really seems to tailor each step to your skins needs. It's so true that each and everyone person's skin is different and Megan really takes the time to research and treat your skin with the upmost attention and detail-- and the entire time you're relaxed and leave feeling bright, clean and totally rejuvenated!

I've struggled with adult skin issues for years and now, with Megan's facials and a great product regime that she's lined up for me, I'm looking (and feeling) better than I have in a long time!!

I also, during my last visit, treated myself to a mani/pedi and was extremely impressed with the comfort and quality of their nail services. Many spas charge crazy amounts for nail services, just because their in a spa-- not the case with Cocoon. They offer very competitive pricing with unparalleled service, I HIGHLY recommend trying them out-- I'll be going back for pretty nails and toes on a regular basis.

I've found a true sanctuary at Cocoon and I hope you do too!

First of all, parking is not an issue on Sundays; plenty of free street parking in front of the spa.

First floor is a modern looking restaurant called Local, as its name implies, it serves dishes using fresh local ingredients only.

Upstairs is Cocoon, a lofty building divided into a check-in room/boutique selling some apparel and lotions, a mani/pedi room, and a hallway that leads to the yoga room and waxing/facial rooms.  The decor isn't new; however, it gives that tranquil and relaxing vibe.

    WAXING
It's a 5-star experience.  The technician (unfortunately I forgot her name) informed me about the numbing spray I can use free of charge, and some moist towelette to freshen up before the waxing session.  She also rubbed some oil on my skin, suppose to help the wax grip better or something. I don't know if it's the spray really worked, or it could just be the technician's skills, that was the least painful Brazilian  wax I've ever had.  Best thing was I was done in less than 15 minutes!!  She again rubbed some soothing after-wax lotion to soothe the skin.  And of course there's also another lotion that guests can use to remove the sticky wax before getting dressed.  She didn't use the tweezer for stray hair however, but that's not a big deal because the area was already pretty clean, the rest I can do it on my own at home anyways.

    SPA MANI/PEDI
They did a very thorough job on pushing back the cuticles, so that way they didn't have to trim too much off.  I soaked my feet in a bronze bowl that's filled with some tiny red flowers, yay to them for not using jet-tubs.  The spa mani/pedi comes with exfoliation and warm lotion massage, but I don't recall getting exfoliation for the mani as it says on the menu description.  The polish looked fantastic!

    On a side note:

    1) They offer water, tea, or champagne
    2) There's no double dipping for their waxing services!!
    3) Their website is very helpful.  You can find their monthly specials and book appointments online.
    4) Can update the polish selection by adding more colors; some bottles look stale.
