came here with the boyfriend during our socal trip (its one of his favorite restaurants from home) and it's a really big place for a thai restaurant.. places in Elk Grove is really not even half the size of this joint.

    our dishes:
    - Spicy Beef: super plain (not spicy imo) and overcooked.. I felt like I was chewing gum the entire time I was eating my plate.. really disappointed.
    - Cha Po: 3 different meats with rice. this plate was soo good! I was jealous of my boyfriends food ahah my favorite was probably the crunchy pork skins :)
    - unlimited thai tea refills (I don't like Thai Tea but I know its a plus for most people!)

the service was, I don't really remember it... they never really checked up on us but was quick to refill my boyfriends drink so I guess they let you dine without suffocating you and serving you when needed!

Their portions have definitely decreased in size. One plate was barely enough for one person. Crying tiger didn't make me cry and the king noodle was the saddest sorry excuse for a king I'd ever eaten. Drinks were too milky. Stomach ache central afterward.

Service was average. The super bowl just got done playing so it was pretty loud in there.

Meh, certainly not one of the top five Thai places I've been to.  For starters, it's so noisy you can't hear yourself talk, let alone the people in your party.  I guess it's a sports/party bar/Thai restaurant???  We sere seated in the middle of this very huge restaurant where the noise level was a 9 on the Richter scale.  It was so loud asked if we could move to another area.  They moved us all the way to the front, which was better until the party boys showed up!!! And it was hooting, hollering, and babies crying (you get the picture) during the entire meal.  Now to the food:

Appetizers were very good.  Had the satay and the lettuce wraps.  Both were very fresh and tasty.  I think if, and that's a big IF, I came back here it would only be for the appetizers.

Dinner entrees:  Ordered the Larb (more like lard or maybe garb).  It was so NOT good (that's a nice way of saying it was so bad).  The texture -- well, just plain weird.  The flavor -- well, just plain weird.  The overall dish, not a fan.  I guess rice powder is just not my thing.  Texture was just like eating sand.  It was so bad no one wanted to eat it and no one wanted to take the leftovers home!!  That about says it all.

Other dishes ordered were the Pad See-ew.  It was okay.  I've had better.  I thought it was a little dry.  The pineapple rice was okay.  I've had better. The "spaghetti" was about one of the best entrees we got.  It had a good flavor, although a bit greasy.
The yellow curry chicken was just okay.  Not really much curry flavor at all, mostly cream.  It tasted better the next day as leftovers.

The service was not bad in the beginning and then the waiter went missing in action for a while once the food was served.  I would have given this one * if not for the appetizers.  Overall not a great dining experience for me.  I actually like there sister restaurant, Coconut Station, much better.

What can I say about this place?

Well for one it was able to seat 25 of us which was a plus.

Other than that there was nothing that really stood out from other places I've eaten. I went with some friends to celebrate another friends' birthday. I ordered the Chicken Pad See Ew, which was good, but it's nothing to write home about. I felt it wasn't as flavorful as it could have been.

Aside from all of that I have one major complaint...
    The service.

I understand that it was 25 of us at the table but we had three servers you'd think that at least one of them would notice that there were people who needed refills. I found myself having to continually have to ask for a refill until one of them finally noticed or remembered. A few people sitting around me found themselves in the same situation,
One of my friends who sat across from me never got his refill.

On top of that parking was an issue; I ended up parking across the street in front of another restaurant.

    I don't think I'll be back.

#474 I can't say that I totally understand the hype about this place. Maybe it's the perfect mix of alcohol, pub grub, and late-night hours that makes it stand out. Though, the food's actually very good. But, what brings down the party for me is the service, which has always been spotty for me. The evening shift seems to garner better service - probably because they're working for the tips. The lunch group, on the other hand, isn't so chatty or friendly. I do like how big the restaurant is and how vast their bar seems to be. The dining crowds and drinking crowds are appropriately separated by the natural architecture of the place. It does get rowdy if you happen to come on a particularly exciting game day, but that's to expected at any drinking establishment on game days. Overall, it's a fine place to frequent, but I wouldn't make a point of driving all the way to Rowland for some Thai food and drinks.

In a nutshell: decent food, loud atmosphere, and slow service.

I have nothing to complain about regarding the food (I ordered the steamed Hainan Chicken), but nothing to gush about either. It was what I expected to get, nothing more or less. My friends ordered the pad thai and pineapple fried rice, and were similarly satisfied with their meals. I did like the large portions though =P, and the unlimited refills of the Thai iced tea (my fave).

Definitely not the place for you if you're in a hurry. It took me ages to track our waitress down to get the bill. I swear, she was running away from me or something!

Worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood, but not if the wait is too long!

P.S. Good place to watch sports as there are a bunch of large screen TVs hanging throughout the place. There's also a room available in the back for private parties.

Less crowded than Banana Bay, but also expect a steeper price.

However, that is compromised by the quality of the food, imo. I have had several foods here, usually pad thai and pad see ew. The food is great, and the selection of alcohol is not too bad either -- probably better than Banana Bay, as well.

The service here is really good! The servers do not forget about you, and if you need something, they are usually on top of it.

The only thing I hate is the location because parking can be so darn hard to find!

Meh. I came here for the first time for a friend's birthday party--they were able to seat a party of 25 which was impressive. It seemed like a fun place to chill with a large group of friends to catch the football game and grab some drinks, but nothing special or particular stood out to me that would make me want to come back.

I ordered the Tofu Pad Thai and tried a friend's Beef Pad See Ew. It was just OKAY. The noodles were a bit clumpy in both dishes and the flavors were lacking and left me wanting more. I think I'd compare it to a frozen dinner that you could throw in the microwave. Nothing was super flavorful, but it wasn't bad! I just wouldn't take someone here if they were trying Thai Food for the first time. The Thai Iced Tea here is unlimited, but I didn't get to try it.

Service was seriously lacking. Most everyone around me had empty cups and even after continuously asking for refills. The prices were pretty standard (around $10) a plate. Parking was hard to find as well. I probably won't be back.

One of my favorite places to frequent whenever I'm in Rowland Heights! I've heard that Banana Bay is the more popular of the two, but since they practically serve the same things, I'll take the less crowded of the two restaurants, thank you very much.

I often get the Pad Thai and the Continental Fried rice whenever I'm here. The pad thai is cooked perfectly with wonderfully sweet and savory noodles. Don't even get me started on the Continental Fried rice! Who doesn't love red fried rice served with a heaping portion of rice, eggs and chicken? It's flavorful and one of their most popular dishes.

And don't forget Happy Hour! What sets Coconut Bay apart from other restaurants is its casual ambiance where you could just kick back and enjoy a few drinks with friends. It's chill yet lively enough for anyone to have a good time. Get here after 9:30 and this place gets a lot louder and more popular among young people. Happy Hour goes late into the night and if you order their specialty drinks, it's buy 1 drink, get the other one for free for $9.50; it's $6.50 if you don't want the 2nd drink.

And for those who want to sit back and enjoy a basketball or football game, they have tons of TVs around the restaurant and a couple of pool tables for those who want want to shoot some pool.

This place is family-friendly, kid-friendly, and adult-friendly. Ahhh so friendly! Come here if you're in the area, grab some food, get your drink on and then swing on over to Round One for some good ol' kiddie fun!

Came here for lunch with my cousin. We both ordered their lunch special that comes with a soup or salad, your main dish, and Thai Tea of Thai Ice Coffee. We both got the Pad See Ew and Soup. The soup was like a Tom Yum soup, really good. The Pad See Ew was super delicious. One of the best I've had! Noodles were a little chewy just how I like it, chicken was moist and tender. Overall great dish. I also got the Thai Ice Coffee and it was really good as well. Oh yeah, FREE refills on your drink!!! Haven't seen any other Thai place that does this so they get some brownie points!!! Service was spot on, always asking if you want your FREE refills! Definitely coming back!

I seriously don't know what the hype is about this place. Perhaps, that was part of the problem (the hype, that is). There really wasn't anything too spectacular about here, and it definitely does not justify me driving extra miles from where I live to eat Thai food here. Nonetheless, below is the rest of my review.

Ordered the Pad Thai (not a surprise for those who know me). Requested beef instead of chicken. Waitress said that was doable, so I was pleased. While sitting down, I noticed that the place, itself, is huge. LOTS of tables. My friends told me that the place gets packed if there is some kind of important sporting event going on (e.g., Lakers games, etc.). It made sense, too. There were plenty of TVs around the restaurant.

Got the Pad Thai, and was disappointed. Quantity was fine, but the quality was where I felt the dish suffered. The noodles clumped together a little too much (some clumping is normal, but I was practically eating rice cakes), and the beef was merely OK. One of my friends ordered some egg rolls, and they were pretty good. But, yeah... I was disappointed by the Pad Thai here. Oh well.

The service was pretty good overall, although it was weird seeing three workers at the front of the restaurant looking at my group awkwardly as we entered. It didn't really make me feel welcome. Service during the meal, however, was quite good. Attentive waitresses made up for the awkward, initial encounter.

I've been to better Thai places. Maybe I'll order something other than the Pad Thai next time and update my review. Until then, 3 stars, and I don't buy into the hype.

Visited Coconut Bay from out of town with some friends for a Lakers game. Seems like a nice place to go for sports, plenty of monitors/screens with various sports games on. Food is decent and very reasonably priced. The chili wings are a must! They were very tasty and cheap. I believe it's around $6-7 for 8 wings.
There are a couple pool tables around which is nice to shoot some rounds.

Overall, it's a decent place to hangout for a casual time with some buds.

I'm a regular customer at Coconut Bay, but last two times I was there I encountered something that I never encountered before, and I'm really unhappy about it.

    1. Apparently, they don't serve noodle soup after a certain time because the chef for that specialized section leave early everyday. Ok, my complaint isn't about how I think this idea is unreasonable. My complaint is actually I ordered the noodle soup, and nobody told me that for a good 20~25 minutes. So around that time later, a server came up to us, and told us there is no more noodle soup for the rest of the night. & I was like, ok, it would've been nice to know 30 minutes ago that you guys don't have it. So at this point, I'm already a little bit upset. After that, I changed my order to something else they have, I didn't get my food until 30 minutes later I changed my order. I can understand that they're busy, but since I ORDERED MY FOOD ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, SHOULDN'T THEY MAKE MY CHANGED ORDER FIRST?!??!

    2. There is a new bartender/waitress I guess. I've never seen her before, but I guess not that mean she didn't work there long enough. We were sitting at the bar section that night, she didn't serve us at all. It took her about 10~15 minutes after we ordered to give us our Thai tea and water. & then it took her about 30 minutes after we ordered our alcoholic drinks to have the drinks delivered to us. Now, I can understand she is busy with her orders, but what i seems like was she forgot our order. The reason why I say that is because she seemed panic-ed when we went up to her to tell her we haven't got any of our drinks yet. She gave me a "oh shit I forgot their order" look. However, of course, she didn't show it & didn't even say sorry. At the same time, I also didn't like her attitude. I've been a regular customer, and my reviews in the past clearly show I like the restaurant, but this bartender really upset me.

Overall that night, the food was still really good. Just the service...... Could really improve!

I'm updating, because I hate to leave things unfinished! (two stars rolled over)...

After all of the debacle, Coconut Bay ended up being a good choice... (I'm not sure if we were accommodated BECAUSE of the debacle or just as a basis, as a note).

We had one main server and a couple food runners helping us. My party ended up being like 50-60 people but the server was SUPER helpful and was perfectly fine with adding tables. He was dope-- fast to grab drink orders and drop of checks, etc. Only reason why I'm not going all the way with the 5 stars is because I think we could've used ONE more server just to make things quicker... luckily the huge screen was playing the Laker game, so everyone was distracted and getting pretty tipsayy.

Overall, THANK YOU Coconut Bay for fixing your minor mistakes and accommodating my party. I had lots of fun, enjoyed our server, and had a great going-away dinner. Just please avoid that hassle next time!! :)

I usually like coming here because I like that it's less crowded than Banana Bay, and it's also closer to where I live. I've also never had a bad experience here, in terms of food and service, until last night. Granted, maybe I shouldn't have gone in on Christmas night, but that still doesn't excuse the terrible service.

My boyfriend and I went in to watch the Clippers game and despite multiple customer requests to switch the TV's from Sunday Night Football to the bball game, the servers were still unwilling to change the channel until the football game had ended. We also requested a seat with a good view and they stuck us in a corner where we had to sit uncomfortably to see the game.

We ordered our first round of drinks, which arrived at a reasonable time. The second round however, took forever to get to us. It doesn't take over 15 minutes to put some ice, alcohol, and mixer into a blender, press blend, and serve. The blended drinks we got, by the way, were pretty gross. Strawberry sunset tasted like cough syrup and so did kiss on the lips. But I probably didn't like kiss on the lips, which is a blended mango and grenadine drink, because I don't like cherry flavors.

The server also never came to check on us and we also saw our server talking on his phone behind the hostess booth, which is really unprofessional in ANY work setting. By the third round of drinks, I was so dehydrated because our server never came to fill up our water! In fact, no server came to our area to check up on the customers and to fill up water cups. I happened to sit right next to the counter where they keep all their pitchers of water, so I grabbed the pitcher and served myself and my boyfriend water. WE SERVED OURSELVES.

Needless to say, we were extremely dissatisfied with the service and left a measly tip. There's no point coming out to a restaurant if I end up having to serve myself. Even though Banana Bay is further and busier, I would rather go there in the future. Their drinks taste better and are stronger, are bigger and thus a better deal than the ones at CB, and in all the 7-8 years I've been eating at BB I've never had a bad experience.

Mediocre Thai food.  The pad thai was sticky, the garlic fried ribs were too tough and could've used more salt, and the Crying Tiger beef (or whatever it was called) was tough as well.  I did like the Tom Yum soup.  It came with a lot of mushrooms and was very sour (sour in a good way!).  The green curry was good and spicy, but I've had better.  It was just "meh."  I would only come again if coming with other people.  Although a big plus is the unlimited Thai iced tea/coffee!  Also, this place would be good for big groups, because it is large and has big tables.  I don't know of any other Thai food in the area, but try Thai Patio (Hollywood) or Thai Moon (West LA), which I think were much better.

I don't understand. I just don't. The food is a hit or a miss. Some plates were okay at best and some plates were just outright bad. I don't remember what the dish was called but it had "chat siu" (cantonese), some duck meat, and some other ran beef. All of these meats were horrible. Over cooked, burnt, and crispier than potato chips. The only dish I semi enjoyed was the pad thai. I should add this place is pretty expensive for the portions they give you.

The projector and television were a nice touch to the place though - gets 2 stars.

Gave this place another chance, i really wanna give it a higher rating, but it's just not to the point that i'll say "wow." The thai iced tea, once again was pretty watered down, very light taste, but the good thing is the free refills. Regardless, at least better than last time.

We ordered the simple items like pad kee mao and South Sea fried rice. I have to say that the fried rice was really not that good, rice was very mushy and pretty tasteless. Pad kee mao was ok and the tom kha kai was not bad, just that it taste more like tom yum kai because the coconut flavor was very light.

Come here if you want to watch a game or just hang out with a big group of friends, but for satisfying food, i will think about it.

This place is one of my favs to go when I'm craving Continental Fried Rice, Cha Po, Pad Thai & Endless Refills of Thai Ice Tea. They have good lunch specials that include a soup or salad, entree and a drink all for under $10. The bar is okay and the Happy Hour Specials aren't all that great. I go here more for the food than for the alcohol. In my opinion, I would rather hit up Banana Bay for legit Happy Hour Specials. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 stars is that the service could be much better, but aside that the food is good.

.., We hit the jackpot yesterday when we scored on Coconut Bay's happy hr., beers were buy 1 get 1 free on Sundays!!!

This place had definately gotten better each time we've came. There are definately better Thai spots, but Coconut Bay can hang with them.

Came here after a hike this past Sunday w/ friends during the day. It was short of a packed house compared to the dinners we've had here prior, but service was probably the best we've had thanks to our server BIG!

Prices are decent & the portions are about right. Their Thai fried rice, chicken satay, pad kee mow, pad see ew, pad Thai, & their Coconut Bay ribs are all delicious!
    Prices around $6 & up.

The set up is cool, tv's all around, 2 pool tables & a full bar on one end. Depending on what night you go, you may catch a wait/line. Usually a young crowd when it's packed, & this place can get packed easily.

Unlimited Thai Iced teas! Not the best, but hey it's unlimited! Check it out-

Happy hour! 2 drinks for $9..Good spot to catch a game here or for a group gathering.. There are tvs and projectors all around..as well as a bar and pool table area..Happy Hour is pretty much every day around 530-7 and 9-close.. with many drink specials.. We had the lychee martini with the premium alcohol which was 2 for $10.. The martini was delicious, but I wish they added a lychee or 2 to the cocktail..

Food is good and cheap, service was kinda crappy.  My friends and I arrived hungry! and with a $25(purchased for $12) coupon from living social so our partied of 4 ordered with our eyes!  These are the items we ordered:

Continental Fried Rice : Delicious, the fried chicken and egg was the best part!
Pad See Ew with Beef :  Had good flavors
Crying Tiger :  Over cooked and dry - Could've done without this.
Chicken Larb w Sticky Rice : Delicious, great flavors.. The sticky rice was kinda under cooked because it kept sticking to our fingers and the moisture on it was pretty bad..
Garlic Spare Ribs : Delicious, good small sizes and it was addicting and went well with the sticky rice.
Fried Banana with vanilla bean ice cream : Delicious!  Egg roll style fried bananas

5 items later with sides of sticky and steamed rice, 1 desert, 2 martini's, 4 beers = $77 (including tip+$25 living social deal).  I'm definitely coming back!

    Service
Some of the staff are rude, some have no personality, but some are nice.  A few times I see some waitresses on their blue-tooth talking to whoever they talk to in front of the customers in the dinning area and they are pretty loud too.

    Food
Portions are pretty big.  Dishes are nothing special but not bad either. One thing that I like about this place is that you can get free refill on your Thai iced tea.

Definitely less crowded than Banana Bay but mostly because Boiling Crab is in the same lot.  Cant go wrong with happy hour though!  Two drinks for $5!  I love Thai food and the endless Thai tea!

This place is not as crowded at banana bay but the food is delicious! Its great for family settings and price is decent. Unlimited refills on thai tea is a plus!

I was curious last time i went here about the Beef Jerky so I got that and boy it was hard to eat. What i mean by hard, is it took awhile to eat because its jerky but its also fun to eat because it takes awhile to eat. Its great if you wanna just sit, have a drink, and just talk while enjoying yourself. I'd totally get it again.

The setting is nice depending where you sit, and the design is similar to other thai restaurants. This place also have deals on livingsocial so I'm looking forward to coming back here again and using the coupon to get a even better deal (: Score!

I get lunch here every so often since I work nearby so that's always a plus (:

i went here for a family lunch and was happy with (almost) everything we ordered

first off, i loved the free refills for thai iced tea. such a good deal if youre a big thai iced tea drinker. and the servers won't rip you off. they will actually come around and refill your tea whenever its runnin low. definitely an A in my book ;). i had a party of 8 people and all our food came out pretty quick which is good when you have a hungry familyy

for a noodle dish, my bf tried the pad kee mao and absolutely loved it. i thought it was a great alternative to your typical pad thai or pad see ew

i tried the pineapple fried rice which i was also satisfied with. the rice sorta had a sweet flavor to it; im guessing it was the pineapple.

my sis tried the tom yum soup which comes in a huge bowl with noodles. this soup is spicy and actually delivers a spicy kick when you drink the soup. this will definitely clear up your sinuses if youre sick :)

dad tried the beef noodle soup and said it wasn't as good as traditional taiwanese beef noodle soup. so dont order their beef noodle here! my dad said the quality of the beef was lower

brother tried the king noodle which was okaaay. it comes w/ seafood ontop of noodled mixed into an egg. it was different.. i didnt like it too much. the dish tasted gooey to me =/   if i were to get noodles i would def go with the pad kee mao next time

overall i was satisfied with the HUGE portions at this place and the attentive service. i will definitely come back here when i want thai food. they have a pretty diverse menu which i liked

Coconut Bay gets the same rating and review as Banana Bay because they have the same owner, but they are just the newer version of the restaurant.

    I LOVE THIS PLACE.

I've been eating here for a couple of and it is still good as ever.

They have the BEST pad kee mao.  It is very flavorful and spicy.  If you do not like spice then you need to advise them or your mouth would be burning!!

Other great items: house noodle soup and king noodle.

Almost every thing that I have ordered here through the years has been good.

Prices, service, and decor are decent.

I would definately recommend this place and the PAD KEE MAOOOOOO!!!   YUMMMM

I honestly think this place tastes way better than Banana Bay.

I had the Pad Kee Mow here once... bomb!! Tasted more flavorful and everything here, and I think the portions are slightly bigger.

AYCD Unlimited Refills of Thai Tea? Come on, who does that? You HAVE to get it here!! So yummy.

Service varies though. Some days, my waiters forget that I am still there, and other days I always get my drinks refilled, halfway before I finish them.

I just wished they opened a bit later =(

The seafood cravings continues.  Fortunately, Mr. R is easy to please & satisfy especially when it comes to food ;P

We were seated right away.  And for Friday night, that was awesome.  I ordered the Catfish in Chili Sauce-catfish fillets stir fried with chili paste, assorted herbs, fresh mint leaves, & serrano peppers.  Served with steam rice.  He had the Gulf of Siam-assorted seafood stir fried with fresh mint leaves, thai chili, garlic, serrano peppers, & sweet onions.  Served with steam rice & topped with a fried egg.

I have one word for both dishes.  HOT!  They were very flavorful but indeed very spicy.  The only thing I did not enjoy about my dish was the catfish were not fillets instead they were catfish steaks.  Yup...alot of bones.  And I just dont have the patience for that.

I have always preffered the service here in comparison to Banana Bay.  They are very courteous & much more efficient.  I will definitely return on Monday night football with my favorite company to check out their HH.

If not Banana Bay, then this place is defiantly the second place to go.  If I'm not mistaken, its owned by the same ppl.  Been a long time fan of this place, and will continue to come here when I get the chance.

I always love to come here and eat with my friends.  The place is spacious, prices are fair, TVs for those special events, convenient bar on the side with pool tables and friendly staff.  To get into the food, its delicious!  Never have any complains that it was cooked wrong or tasted bad.  Unlike Banana Bay, usually you can come here and get seated pretty easy, no 20 minutes to an hour wait.  What you may have problems with is the parking.  Only because of the location with other great places in it.  If you have not tried this place, defiantly give it a try.  Here is a list of my favorite dishes to order.

    *Cha Po
    *Fried Tofu
    *Fried Calamari
    *Continental Fried Rice
    *Beef Panang
    *Pad See Ew
    *Pad Thai
    *Lettuce Wraps

The menu shrunk and prices have gone up since my last review so dropping one star would be more appropriate.

First, they eliminated about 50% of the dishes on the menu.  One of my favorites was the plum fish which was a whole fish cooked in a Chinese plum sauce served over a burner at the table.  It was zesty and lip smacking good.  RIP plum fish.

Prices have slowly crept up over the years.  They are at least $1-2 more per dish while the quality has slipped a bit.  The once robust flavor that gave each dish zing is gone.  I don't know what the heck happened.  Did you fire a chef or something?

It's a shame since I used to go here for Thai food all the time.  Oh well, now I will stop by once in awhile when I'm thirsty and need a Thai ice tea (at least that's still the same with free refills).

I have been a fan of Coconut Bay for a while now and have had an enjoyable time every single visit I have been at your restaurant. I enjoy the food, the atmosphere, and the specials. Therefore, I decided to have my birthday dinner there. Our group was pretty big- almost 30 people, but I knew that I could trust Coconut Bay with service and efficiency.

Tonight, I had my birthday dinner at this restaurant. I had reservations at 8PM for a party of almost 30. Although we had reservations, our table was not ready AT ALL until close to 9PM. We were standing near the doorway waiting to be seated when we already had our reservations made in advance. In addition, every time we asked the front staff how long we had to wait, they kept telling us that the "table was almost ready and the staff are setting it up now." CLEARLY, there was no one setting up our table until almost close to 8:45PM. This is unacceptable. I had to apologize to my guests many times for the wait time because they were ALL hungry and waiting to eat at your restaurant.

When we were finally able to sit down, it was close to 9PM. Granted, it was busy so I understand if we had to wait for the tables to get set up. BUT, we had reservations in advance so I don't see why our tables weren't ready BEFORE our arrival time. In addition, our server (whom I could not catch her name), was VERY rude to my guests who were ordering. One of my guests asked this server if she can order fried noodles and instead of chicken, she wanted tofu. However, the server replied saying "If you want to be fussy, you will NEVER get your order." I found out that this happened AFTER we paid so I could not say anything to her because she was long gone from our tables. Her attitude, her service, and her friendliness were UNACCEPTABLE.

Not only that, but she was VERY SLOW. She never came to our tables to give refills until we asked for her to. We had to wait over ONE HOUR just to get a refill on Thai Iced Tea. Also, we had asked for boxes at the end of the meal, but she NEVER gave it to us. When we asked her again, she laughed and said she'll bring it back, however, but the time she got back to us again (with NO box in hand), we already were unsatisfied and were ready to leave. In addition, as we were about to leave, she spilled beer all over my foot and apologized to me, but just walked away. She did not even grab a napkin for me or help me with my shoes that got DRENCHED in beer.

I decided that I am going to review this restaurant on Yelp and make sure that my experience is heard. This night was supposed to be a fun night for me to celebrate my birthday, but instead, I had such a HORRIBLE time that I am NEVER going back again. I should have talked to the manager before I had left, but I was SO unsatisfied that I just left. I honestly did not want to pay the GRATUITY, which was still insisted upon even with the BAD SERVICE. My friends and I all agree we will never visit Coconut Bay again. I hope they know that word-of-mouth is very fast and very effective.

OVERALL: I WISH I DIDN'T HAVE TO GIVE 1 STAR, because CLEARLY they do not DESERVE it. NEGATIVE STARS..

Wow crowded on sunday night 730p, parking is crazy hustle, same plaza as boiling crab & across class 302. Chinese thai food, padseeew.

Great for family, big groups, Bdays and just chill local eating. Newer version of Banana Bay but no live music. They do have 2 pool tables and a bar for drinks and watching the games. TVs all around restaurant.

Service: Asian, decent and sometimes have to do the wave down.
    Food: Chinese thai food
    - don't order curry
    - fried rice (pineapple, and seafood orders are decent)
    - pad see ew (sweet and tasty)
    - etc....

Water taste weird here. Asked them to change it and it tasted the same. They take card.  I love asian food.

Less Thai Taste (no sourness punch), just more sweet (like how the Chinese likes it), fyi. Atmosphere is fun and chill. Comfortable local fav of mine....not sure if you should drive far for this place though, nothing special except I'm just comfortable with it.

Although it's very busy, I've never had to wait for a table because the restaurant is so big.  Check out the daily happy hours they have.  I've always came here because the portions are good, prices are fair, and taste pleases my buds, but today I realized that their thai ice tea sucks.  The tea and coffee have free refills, but something about the mixture is a little off.  I think the ratio between the tea and milk is off? Or maybe the tea is just not tasty? Or the milk is expired?  Nonetheless, a thai restaurant with bad tea is unacceptable.  Also, the staff is friendly but because they're so busy they will only come by your table once or twice.. sort of difficult to flag them down.

Only come here if you're looking for a bargain and big tv's that play sports.  Not a date spot.

P.S. They have a 14-day trip to Thailand with the owner that you can order off the menu.. for $22,000!!! I don't know what's more funny.. the fact that it's on the menu or that anyone who actually buys into that is dumb enough to get ripped off a trip to southeast Asia for that amount of money.

Hello Coconut Bay! I frequent your restaurant on a weekly basis, and I absolutely love your food! Pad Thai, Thai Jerky, and Pineapple Fried Rice make my tummy feel super happy. I really wanted to come on yelp and express my gratitude to one waitress! Tiv is AMAZING in every way! She is quick, polite, attentive, witty, and knows my order by heart. She makes great suggestions and always goes the extra mile to provide wonderful service. I live closer to Banana Bay, but will always come here because of the food quality and WONDERFUL experiences thanks to Tiv! Thank you Tiv for everything and know that your presence and services are extremely appreciated :)

    3 and half stars really.
Came with a group of 30 to 40 people LOL! I thought they situated us well, although it felt a bit slow, but I expected that. The atmosphere was not bad, but I felt a bit cramped in the place.
Service was alright and attentive to our needs, but they didn't give back the change after our party paid for the bill. One of our other groups/tables however received the opposite end of that service as their orders kept getting canceled and delayed. Luckily I wasn't in their place or else I would have gone angry and flipped a table.

The food came out fast and was pretty good, I got the BBQ chicken fried rice and they cooked the chicken just right. I didn't like the rice as much, but I'm cool with it. I also loved the Thai tea refills, and the tea itself was good.

It's a good place to go eat Thai food if you're at Roland Heights, just beware of parking! It's a terror! (IM LOOKING AT YOU STEREOTYPICAL ASIAN DRIVERS) And more than likely you will be getting adequate service than not.

Almost identical to Banana Bay. Franky, I love BOTH! Coconut Bay is unique because they offer unlimited Thai tea!

Other than that, the food is very similar to Banana Bay. The taste and presentation are similar. We went here because we couldn't find parking at Banana Bay. But I do love both restaurants. Fan for life!
