I love Cobble Hill Park. My apartment gets so hot during the summer that my boyfriend and I tend to spend quite a bit of time here in the evenings to escape the heat.

The park has some seating/tables and a small grassy area for picnics. Grab a treat and a drink at Ted&Honey and relax!

All parks are now revenue generators.

This park is now wholly classified as a "Playground". Which means, if you do not have kids with you, you are illegally in the park (aka, a likely child molester).

Dogs, leash or no leash, are prohibited.

Of course, there is no smoking now.

And don't get caught after the park 'closes'...you will be ticketed.

Our "public" parks are gone. Forget about bringing your dog to Ted and Honey, getting a sandwich, and sitting on a bench in the sun. You'll get two summonses for your relaxing brunch.

Quite simply the quaintest, cutest, most sophisticated little park in New York City.  It also happens to be my front yard since I live on Verandah.

A little known historical fact - the park used to be a church that burned down some years ago.  Eventually, they demolished the church and created a park, one of the few single block parks in New York.

I've spent quite a few hours peering out at the park from my office window and its usually filled with neighbors eating a sandwich, smoking a cigarette, or taking their dog on a walk.  In the afternoons, you'll sometimes see the men playing checkers on the tables.  In the summer mornings, the sandbox (freshly filled last month) and playground at the far end are full of kids, with some spilling over to practice their balance skills walking around the clover shaped planter near Clinton.  On weekends, the grass in the middle is full of sunbathers and people lounging.  On occasion, you'll even hear our neighorhood accordian player or bluegrass band.  For those interested....here's a little taste: http://www.youtube.com...

Cobble Hill Park (or Verandah Park, as it's called by the locals) is a quiet little haven on Clinton Street between Verandah and Congress, in the heart of Cobble Hill.

Here you'll find dozens of benches laid out around a central lawn (off limits to dogs!) and some planters.  In the early afternoons, expect to see flocks of nannies chattering away happily while their wards play on the playground nearby.  Kindly little bubbies also socialize here, as well as solemn old men who sit silently and watch the goings-on.

I take my dog for a stroll here every day and it never fails to lift my spirits.  Framed by two charming streets lined with lovely townhouses, Cobble Hill Park is a gem.

Small and surprisingly serene since it's located in the middle of a busy area and gets a good amount of stroller traffic. Lots of dogs, but no dog run, so they're on the leash but still having a good time. It's the kind of place neighborhood people pop into for awhile to cool their heels on a bench or read the newspaper. No soccer or ultimate frisbee games or whatever going on--it's just not designed like that. It's nicely designed and abuts beautiful Verandah Place and is right next to a couple nice cafes who don't care if you bring your food over to the park.

A nice bonus: you can usually pick up free WiFi from Ted & Honey if you sit in the right place.

Nice little park in the heart of Cobble Hill- one of the most beautiful and sought after neighborhoods in Brooklyn. So cute in fact that used this park not only in a recent Zales commercial but in a scene in Tina Fey's Baby Mama. The park really is tiny though, it's about 1 block wide and 3/4 block deep (but these are inconsistent Brooklyn blocks, a bit different from Manhattan). It's lined with plenty of benches, the front of the park has a few tables and the back of the park has a small playground for the kids. It's a nice park to sit and have lunch, read, or relax but a bit too small for most other activities.
