Coastside Books
6 reviews for Coastside Books
Simply lovely. This bookstore is small, but it has a lot of nice things to look at, in a really great environment, so I would definitely recommend checking it out.
As you walk in, there are some books of interest off to the left, and some of the titles looked pretty good. There are also a lot of cards, stationery, and blank books/journals a bit further in, and they were pretty nice.
In terms of the rest of the bookstore, they seemed to have a lot of the newer fiction books I was looking for, along with some new ones I hadn't heard of. The don't stock a ton of copies of each title though, so in a lot of cases, there's only 1 of each on the shelf.
I didn't really look in the non-fiction sections, but they did have some, including local interest books. There was also a kids section in back.
In general, I really liked the environment of this store, from the way everything is arranged to the music playing in the background. I would have stayed longer if there were more to look at, but it was definitely worth stopping by.
Came into browse and found a book for my baby niece . Piddled around the store and found that they had been closed for about 10 minutes and the store clerk didn't shoo me out of the front door or said we're closed now . I found their sale selection to be a great and fun little selection of books. My boyfriend found a neat Grateful Dead book with a ton of rare and cool photographs from their vast history as a band for a reasonable prce. Very cool place that I always hit up when I'm in HMB.
My HMB visits always include a visit to Coastside Books. There's a comfortable, worn in, laid back feeling about this place and they have lovely greeting cards (including letterpress cards), journals, and stationery. The greeting card selection is quite large and I think the nicest in town. I can usually find a knitting book or two that I haven't seen before. They also carry some HMB sweatshirts, mugs and city-themed merchandise. It's not a large bookstore but it feels like the small town, independent bookstore that it is. It seems like the oldest bookstore in town. They sell new books only.
I've been visiting this bookshop for years and have never left without finding a book I wanted to buy. A bookshop like this with an owner who selects great books rather than news-stand bestsellers is a treasure to be be embraced.
Nice little shop, with all the basics and a friendly owner.
quaint bookstore that has an exceptional array of cards!
