Don't know how many great things I can say about John Martinez, M.D. and his Coastal Sports and Wellness. He is a sports medicine physician that knows his stuff. He and his wife have put together Coastal Sports and Wellness, a great facility just on Sorrento Valley Blvd. I have had recent occasion to visit there for presumably the worst sports injury of my life (to date). John was able to get me in on relatively short notice, scheduled an MRI for as soon as I could get it (U.S. healthcare as a whole gets one star), and will be working closely with me over the length of my rehab. The facility itself is an athletes dream. A gym, spin classes, VO2 max and a variety of other performance testing, massage, sports chiropractor, rehab.. ya... well.. good stuff. Plus, a San Diego Tri Club member. What more can you ask for?

Coastal Sports & Wellness Medical Center of San Diego provides high quality primary care and family medicine, sports medicine, chiropractic care as well as physical therapy, sports massage, acupuncture and personal training for athletes and active patients with a focus on lifetime health using a comprehensive team approach.

Coastal Sports and Wellness Medical Center is a 12,000 square foot sports medicine and fitness facility. Our Sports Medicine area included individual medical exam, chiropractic, physical therapy and sports massage rooms. We have on-site x-ray and musculoskeletal ultrasound to help diagnosis sports injuries.

Coastal Sports and Wellness is a new concept in health care, featuring a full-service comprehensive sports & wellness medicine facility that provides an integrated approach to medical issues and sports injuries in active patients.

Our physicians strongly believe that exercise, nutrition and wellness are important components to life-long health and work with patients not only on acute and chronic injuries but also on medical issues such as hypertension, high cholesterol, and asthma.

The Medical Center includes board-certified primary care doctors, sports medicine physicians and chiropractors working in conjunction with athletic and personal trainers, physical therapists, and massage therapists to get patients back to their pre-injury level of activity, health and well-being.

Meet the Business Owner: John M.

Dr. John M. Martinez is a board-certified sports medicine and family physician and 4-time Ironman triathlon finisher. He has treated a wide-range of athletes from the high school and recreational athlete to the elite and professional. He is the current medical director of the Carlsbad Marathon and a member of the USA Triathlon Team USA medical staff and the Hawaiian Ironman medical staff since 1999.
