I owe you an apology Clyde. For years I would drive by your restaurant hoping that I wouldnt get caught in a crossfire of bullets. On the outside your restaurant looks pretty ominous but..........once you build up the courage to go through the front door you realize that this is a family friendly and fun place as well as a great restaurant. The waitstaff is always on the go and yet friendly as can be. I got the Kansas City burger and chose to get chips on the side. Frankly I was expecting a bag of potatoe chips. Little did I know that I would be receiving warm, home made, freshly cut kettle chips. My wife got the brisket on a sour dough bread and she was very happy with it.
I told the waitress as well as the hostess of my impressions of the restaurant while driving by and without going in. They both said the same thing, that they hear that over and over again. Lesson learned. Never judge a restaurant by what it looks like on the outside. -

First visit, and will NEVER make the mistake again. My fiancee had the grilled chicken teriyaki, which she said was dry and flavorless, as well as being gristly. The only flavor to the meal was the sauce. Her broccoli was mostly stems. They almost got the sweet potato right. The potato skins we ordered as an appetizer were greasy and had very little flavor, as well as being overcooked.
I ordered the chicken tenders meal with cole slaw and Texas wedges. The tenders came breaded like fish, battered, and were rubbery and tasteless. Of the two dipping sauces, honey mustard and barbecue, only the honey mustard was partly edible. The barbecue sauce tasted like chili catsup mixed with vinegar. The cole slaw - where can I start? The first bite tasted like dill pickle, and the second like sauerkraut. That was it for the slaw. The Texas wedges were burned on the outside, and not much better on the potato side. I decided not to attempt them, since by this time I feared I might not make it out of there without making a scene.
I give Clyde's one star only because there is not a negative star option. -

So disappointing! I always go for the Brisket when I am at a BBQ place.
I expect it to be moist - not like shoe leather. But a shoe leather sandwich is what I got at Clydes. Never Again! -

Great food and great service. Can't wait to go back. The cheese burger and onion strings were awesome and the waitress was very attentive and friendly. Very glad I found this place.

Best food ever, great price, HUUUGE portions. The burritos are the size of new born babies, I kid you not.
The only bad meal I've ever had was the quesadilla that seemed to have an entire jar of black olives in it.. and not in a good way. But I won't hold a mouthful of olives against this place.
The bartenders are great, a lot of fun to eat at the bar during a game night. It's a great atmosphere with delicious food that keeps you satisfied for a small price.
I don't know why everyone is complaining about long waits for tables... all the fun is in the bar. Tables are for losers and/or big families with young children. -

Pretty decent BBQ. I had the memphis ribs and they were very meaty. BBQ sauce was nice and tangy...not too spicy or sweet. The cornbread was outstanding. One of the best I've ever had. It was definitely fresh out of the oven and sooooo buttery and sweet.
Our waitress did a great job entertaining the 3 year olds at our table. And they loved that you can color ON the table (yay for brown paper tableclothes). -

I first tried Clyde's two weeks ago for work lunch. I was really happy with the service, atmosphere and food.
Around here on the automile, you have TGIFriday's, Chili's, Applebee's, etc. Clyde's puts them all to rest, with great BBQ, unique and large variety of menu items and the sense of authenticity.
I had the steak tips, and they were cooked exactly how I asked, and the side salad and vegetable of the day made it all the perfect amount of food for a filling but not overfilling lunch.
The bar is actually it's own separate room, which is nice in the sense that it keeps the dining area quiet and the bar patrons able to talk, cheer at TV screens, etc.
Look forward to going back soon! -

I'm definitely a fan of Clyde's. I go here pretty often and get the same thing each time - the fish sandwich. Good piece of fish, really tasty, not heavy at all even though it is fried, and the bread and french fries are awesome. YUM! I've been with different groups of people before who have gotten a variety of menu items and everyone has been completely satisfied. I wouldn't tell anyone to "not" eat something off of the menu - try anything! Fairly priced, great selection, and good quality food. The drinks are great as well and have a good beer selection.
The hostess-es really care about you and your wait. They keep you informed, actually apologize for the wait, and are attentive. I've really never seen anyone care so much about a wait. The waiters/waitresses actually seem to enjoy their jobs as well.
I never have a bad experience at Clyde's and will certainly return there at any time! It may look like a hole in the wall from the outside but give it a chance, it is really good food and you never have to worry about getting a bad meal! -

Love this place. The menu is huge with lots to choose from. The BBQ is bomb and the burgers and sandwiches are good as well. The onion strings are so good. Portions are large and the prices are reasonable. This place stands out among all the usual chains on Rt.1.

I have been here numerous times and can say without a doubt that Clyde's is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a great variety of items, ranging from the classic burger and fries to quesadillas and burritos (the burritos are HUGE!).
If you get an appetizer, I would highly recommend their Chili Garlic wings. They have that perfect balance of spicy and sweet (and with bleu cheese on the side you can't go wrong).
Their cornbread is also great. One of my favorite dishes, the fajita quesadillas comes with a side of it and it's so yummy!
Their desserts are not the best (hence the four-star rating), but that's not exactly what they're geared toward, either. However, if you do get dessert, I would recommend the carrot cake. Unlike their red velvet cake which is very dense with extremely heavy frosting, the carrot cake is light and moist. -

I have attempted to dine at Clyde's a few times. I failed at my attempts due to having long wait times for tables. I was finally able to hit the jackpot and able to dine at Clyde's. The food and service were great. I had the bacon cheeseburger. It was cooked medium just as I ordered. It was delicious and one of the best burgers I have eaten. The seasoned fries were great but next time I will get the steak fries. My friend had the ribs and they were some of the best ribs I have tasted around here. They came right off the bone!! We shared their turtle cheesecake for dessert and that was excellent too. Our waitress was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Hopefully, I will be able to return to Clyde's soon!!

This is our go to place for friday afterwork drinks and snacks. The bartenders are friendly and treat the regulars, ie us, with hilarity and respect - and it's not too hard to become a regular.
The food is great, especially the burgers, and especially for the price.
This is definitely a hole in the wall, not in the sense that no one knows about it, but more in the sense that it feels like you're in a cave.
If you eat in the dinning room, you can draw on the placemats - always a fun time. Each table is also equipped with a deck of cards.
In the past, they used to play movies for us early on Friday afternoons, and I remember waiting out a snowstorm here and enjoying every minute of it.
Definitely a place to check out for a low key night of drinking and eating.Listed in: Burgers and Beer

Clyde's really is a surprise on the inside. From outside it, at first looks like a bit of a dive. I put that down to the lack of windows. But on closer inspection the building is well maintained and hiding a true gem inside.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our family of 5 with three young and noisy kids. It is not always easy to find a place that can suit such a bunch.
The beer was ice cold and the starter of boneless wings arrived quickly, was hot with a nice side serving of celery sticks and the all important blue cheese sauce.
We had a number of main courses ranging from pulled pork, ribs, and tacos. All food arrived hot, together and a very generous serving.
My kids loved the food, ate all on their plate and even had room for desert. -

Been here a handful of times and enjoyed every one. This is an old fashioned BBQ joint that has charm, good food and fair prices. It's not one of those chain BBQ joints. Pleasant staff.

Clyde's is a hidden gem of a BBQ place. Their menu includes all of the classics and they do it right. Big portions, and reasonable prices. Not to mention they have a crazy burger challenge that I've never actually seen someone finish. Their burgers are tasty, the pulled pork is succulent and the sauce is a perfect compliment. BBQ in Walpole? Give it a try, you'll be surprised

The food is excellent here! I had a burger that was great. They have a great mixture of pub type foods & BBQ with a Southwestern twist. Located 5 miles from the Patriots stadium in Foxboro, this is a great place to check out before a game or for a casual lunch or dinner while you get served by their spunky and yet attentive staff.
Some of the highlights that might raise an eyebrow include a 2 pound burger with chili that will earn you a free shirt if you can complete it in 30 minutes or less (wheelbarrow to role you out not included). Additionally, the mountain of meet loaf sounded like quite the endeavor!
5 Stars! -

Average place to stop for a burger on a trek down Rt 1. I went into this experience being told I was in store for the best burger in Boston, and I must say that's not true. It was okay, but not really great.
The artsy menu(Trader Joe's offer boards style) got me psyched, as did the waitress offering seasoned fries, steak fries, homemade potato chips, onion rings, or onion strings with my burger. Holy choices, batman!
I went with the steak fries, which had no skin. :( Bummer.
My burger was cooked to my specifications, but the American cheese was barely melted on there. My pickle was super tiny.
I did, however, like how we had a paper table cloth and crayons we could use to draw things like designer jeans on it. -

I like this place because it is unique to the area and the food is good.
This place can get crowded because it is small, but if you come during a weeknight you can probably get a seat right away.
I've only had the pizza here and that is because I liked it so much the first time I've never tried anything else. The meatlovers pizza is one of the best meat pizzas I've ever had.
Kind of a townie type crowd at the bar, but I've only been in the restuarant side.
Anyway, great pizza, good service, and overall a solid place to go for some pizza, beer, and good times. -

Boston, MA
Overall, the food here is average but the service is good. Think of it as a locally owned version of some of the national chains, a combination of Chili's, Applebee's, and TGI Friday's. The burgers are good and so are the steak tips. If you're game, go for the Ten Gallon Burger challenge. It's a huge 2lb burger loaded with everything. If you finish it all in under 30 minutes you get a picture on the Wall of Fame. Otherwise it's the Wall of Shame. Not surprisingly, there are three times as many pictures on the Wall of Shame.
Normally, I would give this place 3 stars, but I have to knock off one star due to false advertisement. On the menu, they say their BBQ is Texas-style, yet the closest thing to Texas is the lone star that this food deserves. And that's being generous. I've been to Texas and had Texas BBQ. I've even sampled some bad BBQ in Texas and this place is worse than that. First of all, real BBQ needs to be slow-smoked. Not only did I not taste any smoke, but there wasn't even a hint of liquid smoke, unless you count what's in the commercial BBQ sauce they slap on. The ribs and pulled pork were both dry and flavorless even with the sauce.
So come here if you just want to have some good ole American pub grub, but do yourself a favor and don't order the BBQ. In fact, if anyone tells you they have good BBQ at Clyde's, find another source for recommendations.Listed in: The BBQ List

Clydes serves up a really good burger and usually has some interesting drafts, all at reasonable prices. These are real hand formed beefy slabs cooked to order, and it's what I would stick to here ... apps are good too.
Nothin' fancy, but good and reliable ... "Pub" is the category I'd put it in.
Bartenders are really nice, and know regulars by name, surely a lot of locals here. -

I have been here three times so far and really enjoy it. I haven't branched out passed the Montreal steak tips which are so very tasty, and the pub style pizza, which was the perfect ratio of cheese, sauce, toppings and crust for me (I know people are crazy about their pizza, but for pub style, its one of the better that I have had)
The food seems to be consistantly good, as is the service.
I also like the paper table covering and crayons which gives adults and kids alike something to do while chatting and waiting for your food. Some tables also have decks of cards on them, which is fun. -

I would have to say that after my visit to Clyde's last weekend, I am a fan. Of course, my date and I expected a long wait to dine-in last Saturday night; however, the hostess was very nice and made us feel comfortable with the 20-25 minute wait. The staff has a nice way of knowing trying to meet your needs and keeping the situation in front of them under control. They know that people want to be serviced well and eat quickly. While waiting, we grabbed drinks at the bar, and hoooray-- there was pumpkin ale on draft. :) I have been craving it lately (tis the season!), but not many establishments have a varied draft selection. We were seated less than the 20 minutes warned, and ordered our food immediately. We split a small order of Glazed, Boneless Chicken Bites, and they were pretty tasty. My date had the combo of ribs and BBQ chicken for his entree while I had the Meatball Pizza from the Specials menu. I loved the huge meatball slices on my pizza, and he loved his meats, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. However, he said the chicken was slightly dry.
Our bill only came to about $45 with food and drinks. I will definitely return to Clyde's next time I catch a movie at Foxboro's Cinema de Luxe. The food, service, and easy drive/parking at Clyde's make it a nice alternative to the pricier establishments located at Patriot Place. -

Their bacon and onion pizza is to die for. I was very surprised that in all the reviews, no one mentions their pizza. Crispy chewy crust, pub style... delicious!

My friend and I attempted to go to Stoneforge further down Rt1 but at 9:45, we were told the kicthen had just closed despite their menu saying they were open until 11. Boo, Stoneforge.
So, we ended up at CLyde's by default and had been leary about trying it in the past because 1) It definitely looks sketchy on the outside. 2) It is next to a motel that appears to rent by the hour. #3) It has a big "Phantom Gourmet Hidden Jewel" banner outside and I have sworn never to return to any such place as every "phantom approved" place I've tried has sucked it. However, it was now 10pm in Walpole, MA so, an exception was made.
The restaurant area was dead with maybe 2 tables seated. The bar was busier. The woman who greeted us could not have been more welcoming. Our waitress was even nicer.
I started with a melontini that was delish and very strong. They are not cheap with the alcohol. We then got the buffalo wings and were incredibly happy with them. The waitress brings them out in a container and shakes them up in the sauce before pouring it all out onto a plate. They were huge but crispy with a boatload of sauce. We would go back again if for no other reason, to get a couple of pounds of these wings!
My friend got the steak tips with seasoned fries. He had no complaints about the tips but said the fries tasted kind of fishy which might have been my fault since I got the baja tacos. I'm assuming they used the same oil to fry the haddock for my tacos and his fries. Not cool but, my tacos were a solid 7/10 and the plate was huge. The rice was a bit mushy but accompanying cornbread was very tasty and moist.
Overall, it was a good experience and we'd try them again for some ribs or other BBQ. Give it a go. -

Went here after a less than stellar experience down Rte 1.
Our waitress was prompt, friendly and attentive.
The menu offers a wide variety of pizzas, sandwiches, bbq and southwest inspired food.
The four of us ordered the nachos and a buffalo chicken pizza.
Thats all we needed to fill us up.
The nachos were awesome, not a soggy chip to be found amongst the plethora of melted cheese, jalepenos, pulled pork, and other nacho regular ingredients. The buffalo chicken pizza was a little small, but tasted great.
Ambiance was good, had a southwesty sports bar feel.
Pitcher's of beer were $12-$15 -

Newton, MA
During the days when I was a member of Events & Adventures (a big mistake) this was one of the places the group we frequent for Tuesday Night Trivia. Coming here wasn't difficult because at the time I lived in Framingham and it was a simple drive down some back roads to the intersection of Route 27 and Route 1. Like most E&A events they revolved around drinking and eating so coming here was a no brainer for the organizers.
However, despite the lack of creativity this actually is a decent place to come for good food, drinks and light entertainment. Parking is located directly behind the building in a long strip off the highway, coming in and out is fairly easy but you do have to be careful of the traffic. Once you enter the main lobby you'll notice it's spacious and dark. There are not too many windows here and it resembles a Ninety-Nine Pub before it was revamped into a family restaurant. The bar is the first thing you notice as you make your way into the restaurant and usually you'll always find a sport channel on the television. Seating is good but not great, I would say the bar hold about 30 people or just under 40. Nights out with fellow E&A members always consisted of someone knocking elbows with the people behind them.
The bartender who also served as a waiter was very nice from what I remember. He was an older gentleman with white hair combed back and work a black outfit with a red tie. What my friends and I liked about him most was that he answered everything, "Yes, sir." I think he must have said it over 20 times in one night. I alway like it when servers are nice and friendly even when it's overly done. Our drink orders were taken with precision and served in a few minutes. Food orders had the same consistency as the drinks and came in big portions. My good friend ordered a plate of Buffalo wings which he liked on the hot side. To add insult to injury he asked for the portable rack of hot sauces that held over 20 bottles of colorfully labeled liquids that would make you cry for mommy. Let's just put it this way, the wings were hot enough on their own when my friend added just a dash of one bottle he was sweating before the meat touched his lips. Phew!
As he went through napkins for his forehead I sat nearby having my standard hamburger and fries. I've still yet to be wowed by any burger I've eaten in the last few months but found the burgers here to be good. What left a big impression on me were the fries. I'm a huge fan of steak fries and what sells me is the size along with quantity! I always feel stiffed when a burger joint will offer a good sized piece of cow with a little side of spuds. Clyde's Roadhouse gives an equal portion or both with satisfies anyones hunger.
While the large group of 20 people, plus the extra regulars sat and got comfortable Tuesday Night Trivia get on the way. At the top of the bar in a cramped corner a small P.A. system is set up, cards are passed out with rounds of pencils. Within a few minutes voices get carried away and the battle for who knows more begins. For anyone who has played "Stump" you know it's a challenge and players can be ruthless. Here it's no exception but everyone tries to make the best of it.
So despite being a bit small and dark it's a fun place to come for a good time. Finding a way to get here without going Route 1 would be advised. -

Overall, I liked my experience at Clyde's. The food was about what i had expected - the steak tips were very good however the chicken was a little dry. The waitress was very nice and had a great attitude but our food took forever. When we inquired about the lengthy wait, the waitress explained that another waitress took one of our dishes by accident. This is an understandable mishap however it could have been handled better. Rather than a long mysterious wait, she could've volunteered the explanation. However this incident will not deter me from a repeat visit.

Decent roadhouse alternative to the chains like Outback,Smokey Bones etc... Dark, woodsy atmpsohere, good service and clean. I just had some buffaloo wings and a cheeseburger pizza and both were very good but not raving great. I would return when in the area. Don't pay attention to the usless Google map on the main Yelp page that shows it on a side street of rt 27. Its on rte1 of the right heading north.

I came here to try the pulled-pork nachos as I am an aficionado...and read good reviews here. I was very disappointed. I expected more from a BBQ joint, the pulled pork was tasteless. Layering was poor, with most of the cheese and toppings sitting on top of a huge pile of nachos. The fact that there were stacks of chips stuck together (never pulled apart during cutting and cooking) was extremely annoying. I just set these clots of 5-6 chips off to the side. Perhaps the other food is better, but I probably wont go back as there are so many other choices in the area.

It's been here awhile since I've eaten at Clyde's but one night recently my kids suggested we go. I was so glad we did. Really great service. We had a waitress named "Stef," and she couldn't have been nicer or more responsive. The food was good, honest fare, just as I remembered. We had the bbq pork ribs which were very good with a side of mashed potatoes (really delicious). Coleslaw was also very good. My kids got burgers and salads. Not everything could be finished, but we enjoyed our meals alot and will go back soon.

Well, I have to say....Clyde's is the BEST restaurant on rt 1!!! It blows everyone else outta the water by far. I go there once a week ATLEAST! I have had everything on the menu so far and love everything about Clyde's! I take my two boys Jorge and Raul. they're 5 & 9 and love the menu.....they get something different every time. The waitstaff gives the best service I've received in a long time. So friendly and after a few times going they all remember us and know us by name....just after a short time. They have a sattle at the front of the restaurant and when it's a birthday the children get their picture on the wall of birthdays! my boys are up and point to them every time we go.
The food is to die for. ESPECIALLY the BBQ! I've lived in Texas for 10 years and moved up here and could never get a decent bbq sauce unless I made it myself. But Clyde's bbq sauce is better than mine~~ and that's hard to beat. They make it from scratch and it's so tasty! My favorite is the steak tips~~ any kind ( they have 3 different choices) is the best. My kids love how the wait staff actually talks and makes them feel at home in a different place ( they know them by name!)..... They also like the lil surprise toys they get w their meals always something different and fun!
The prices are great for the portion size they give you. If you want something small and tiny and over prices then take a walk over to applebees.....
I can't stop telling my family and friends about Clyde's! GO THERE!!!!!!! you will be so happy you did! -

We eat out like it's our business and this is the BEST we have had in a long time. I found this restaurant on the internet and after reading the reviews decided to try it. As it turned out, it was just up the road from our motel. The service was OUTSTANDING, (we had Steph for a waitress), the beer was cold and the food is exceptional! We had a reuben and a pulled pork sandwich. The meat is to die for. It is slow cooked, tender and full of flavor. Certainly not like most places who serve deli meat on a roll or bread. We have had BBQ in the REAL south-Alabama, and this is as good, or better. We are already making plans to revisit this area, all centered around dining here again.
