5 reviews for Clubsport Oregon
I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The love part is that it is an amazing gym. Lots of machines, free weights, etc. and they have staff cruising around with water, etc. Have had a blast taking the spinning and NIA classes. I am a water junkie, so the lap pool is great and it is difficult to find a great pool in Oregon. Just the right temperature and size and usually a suggested workout for those enrolled in their master's program.
They also have on-site childcare so those with young kids can actually get a focused workout in while the little ones play. I have been here for several kids' parties and they are well run with lots of options (rock climbing, hockey, basketball, dancing, etc.) Here is the frustrating part. It is really popular so it can be crazy crowded, especially before and after work. There are sign up sheets since some of the classes max out. When I swim, I usually have to share a lane with at least one other person and part of the pool is regularly reserved for lessons or water classes.
The locker rooms are great with sauna and hot tubs and a separate locker room for children. The hate part is that it is a pricy workout option, so I'm not a member (uggghhh) and have to rely on the kindness of friends for the occasional guest pass.
Fun fact: the world record for 3-point shots was broken here last year. http://www.katu.com/ho...
I really love Clubsport I have been a member for a few years now. I have to agree with previous reviewers, if you go after work or any other "popular" time, the place is crazy crowded. The facilities are very nice and up to date and the staff is super friendly.
ROCK WALL REVIEW --
The rope climbing routes in this gym are great. They have a lot of comps here, including the upper level regional comps.
The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because the bouldering is small, and the gym is a little cramped. Also, Club Sport is a huge gym that has always had an elitist feel about it.
But! I know the guy running the rock gym, and he is absolutely great, so perhaps my "elitist-dar" is out of whack.
I'd never been so excited to go to the gym, until I experienced Club Sport! I was in Portland, Oregon for a three month internship, and time-permitting, I came here as often as I could.
Awesome facility - it used to be a Costco warehouse, so you can imagine the square footage. I'd attend the group exercises, primarily, but they have plenty more to offer:
- Cardio Equipment
- Free Weights
- Basketball & Volleyball courts
- Outdoor pool (Indoor Pool coming soon)
- Childcare Center
- Rock Gym
- Retail Store
- and a full service Restaurant and Sports Bar!
I attended the NIA classes regularly [NIA: "a cardiovascular mind body class. It is all about having fun, treating your body with respect and playing your way into the healthiest body. Nia draws from dance, martial arts and cultures all over the world. Come and experience this unique workout!"]. It required a whole lot of focus and coordination but I always felt so great after each class.
The lockers were incredible and fully equipped and stocked with quality products. The facilities were always well-maintained and the staff super-friendly and professional.
They have Bay Area locations in Fremont , Pleasanton and Walnut Creek.
THis is a 5 star gym - sauna, steam room, lap pool, rock climbing room, tons of classes, every aerobic and weight lifting piece of equipment imaginable. There are tv's, and even a really nice cafe. Whenever I visit my brother, I get to be a guest with zero hassle. I really love this gym!
