I like this place.  No matter what I walk into, be it a crazy dj dance party, really awful open mic or an almost empty bar, I enjoy myself.  The bar is barely lit, there is a fireplace, which is nice in these cold nights, fire pit outside in their huge patio with tons of seating.
Pretty chill atmosphere, and the bartenders are hot!  Everyone of them.  If not hot, then at least fairly good looking.
Just found out they serve food, which is about 9-14 dollars a plate or sandwich, but it sounds really good.  They have a muffelata, which I love.  Will have to splurge and get one sometime.  It's in a weird neighborhood, but is close enough to downtown, that its accessible.

Great bathroom!  pink from floor to ceiling, crazy tiles and gold chandelier.  Very baroque.  There aren't any locks on the stalls which I find to be pretty funny.  You have to be good at your job to keep the door closed while peeing.  This also could present some awkward moments, which I love.

2.50 pbr bottles (I was there on a weekday)

Cant believe i've never written a review of this place.  Found it right away when i transplanted to the cities 2.5 years ago.  Why? because they were the only place i could find with steel tip dart boards :)  chalk and everything.

The indoor and outdoor fire places/ pits make it feel like your always welcome.  The music has ranged from great to awful but at least they mix it up.  I was surprised to learn they now serve food!  Nice little surprise.  They always have a great selection of beers on tap, personal favorite is the Pilsner.  On some nights the owner sits outside at the fire pit and he's a really nice guy to chat with.

P.S. the ladies bathroom ceiling is the best thing EVER!!!

I love sitting outside on spacious patios and soaking up the summer air while sipping on champagne. And that is one of the things I loved most about this bar. I hear it does quite a bit of live music during the nights and so I feel sad that I was here in the late afternoon. Luckily the $4 sparkling wines cheered me right up.

Our group shared a veggie app that came with a really nice hummus and the crab dip while we languorously enjoyed one another's company. Lovely.

Douche City Rock.

Too many posers. Wanna be hipsters. Too many Ryan Cabrera, V-neck sporting, fedora wearing EMO oompa loompas. Too many VITA MN posters on the walls. Too many bad DJs lapping up their fifteen minutes with a microphone. Too many patrons that don't like any of the above but don't say anything because the want to "fit in"

Patio outside is a nice escape, parking is decent. Go there to get your pseudo insider midwestern faux hipster pose on.

Love this place. Used to frequent here after work, before getting laid off.
Freddy the bartender used to make, what I believe, were the best bloody marys in the city. I heard Freddy no longer is there...ah Club Jager I still love you anyway.

I stopped in here for a couple beers on a Thursday.
It was pretty dead when we were there,
which was nice in the quick-service aspect.
But it would have been nice to see what kind of people
like to hang out here and how easy/hard mingling would have been.
I'm kind of a snoop like that :)
I like to people watch
and I like to bug people and
see how far they are going to allow me to take it.

The feel of the bar was cool,
they had some good tunes playing,
which made me happy.
The decor is pretty sweet.
There was plenty of seating inside at the time, bonus.
There are pool tables and dartboards, typical bar stuff.

My favorite part of this bar was the patio.
Awesome fenced in patio with a few tables to sit at.
Plus, they have a frick'n fire ring!!!!
How great is that??
There are three long benches set up to sit on
with a stack of wood under one of the benches
so you can feed the fire while you sit and enjoy it.
Nothing made me happier than getting cozy and comfy by the fire
and relaxing with my beer.
"Aaaaah, this is the life"  I thought
as I put my feet close to the fire for warmth.
All I need is a Snuggie. . .
What?

I almost went here the night before, on a Wednesday.
Rumor has it they were having an 80's dance night.
Awesome!!!!

So I came here last weekend with my girlfriend and her friend to help find a "decent" man for her friend.  She is growing up a bit and realizing that the only thing the guys at places like the Drink, Spin, Annex and Aqua can offer is herpes.

They have food now, which is always appreciated when drinking.  The menu is limited, but we shared a pepperoni pizza.  It was pretty good for bar food.  There was much more cheese that you'd expect.  Obviously nothing you'd go out of your way for, but as long as you are here it will give you the grease you require.

It was also one of the Spring teaser days, so the outdoor patio was full.  They have a bonfire pit back there and sell smores materials for $4 at the bar.

There are also 2 cork dartboards in the back room, you can get steel darts from the bartender for no charge, but if you have your own, I'd bring them.  The bar's darts are pretty shitty.

If you are curious, she met what appears to be a decent guy.  He was pretty shit faced at the time, but he seemed to be dating material.

wednesday nights.  transmission.  you'll find me there.  it's a great time.  there's one male bartender there who always looks like he's super busy (moving very quickly) but in fact seems to get a lot less done than his female counterparts.  ordering a drink through him is a painful experience.  i've sat for 15 minutes waiting at one point (and i had cash in my hand at the bar!).  if you see a female + male working there, you're better off trying to get a drink through her.

the outdoor patio is amazing in the summer.  sometimes theres a fire.  one time i saw a guy burn a bunch of vintage newsweek magazines that were left in the bar area (presumably by the owner).  it was a bit sad to see george romney and JFK's faces burning in the fire =/.  hope that didnt cost the owner a lot of money.

We entered the bar to a running dialog behind sunglasses into microphone:  "eh, I like what you have done with the place, you are bringing in some good people these days, very nice. (wicky wicky scratch scratch dj shit)"

Such was our introduction to Psychedelic Pioneers Broadcasting Show playing horrible music and just talking over it.   Same reason I hate the Hold Steady.  Hell, I LOVE the Hold Steady now, compared to PPBS.

"We like to Jazzercise, do you remember Jazzercise?  (background music "and one, and two and step and left and up and down") so come on everybody....lift those drinks."

I might have made them funnier at the end, but seriously it was an accident.

To escape the sound barrage, we hid on the patio, which unfortunately had speakers spaced perfectly so you cannot get away!

It is here we waited for our server.  None forthcoming.  I went in to inquire and had a conversation that consisted of spoken words on my end, and gestures on his.

Me:  No table service tonight?
Him:  Shoots me with his index finger and thumb gun, accented with a wink.
Me:  Great.  I will be back with our order.
Him:  Index finger and thumb meet with remaining 3 in a peacock, the international A-OK sign.
----------------------
Back at the bar, with member of my party who has questions about the beer.
----------------------
Friend:  What kind of light beer do you have?
Him:  Miller Lite.
Friend:  Anything else?
Him:  (pointing to tap beers) That's all we have.
Me:  I will have the Jager Lager.
Him:  We are out.  Not my fault.  It is the distribution guys.
Me:  Speckled Hen then.  What kind of vodka do you have?
Him:  Lots.  (Pouring my beer, pointing to the vodka with other hand, blocking the selection with his body)
Me:  Great.  Belvedere, please.
Friend:  (under breath) what the fuck?
Me:  (shrug)

Him:  (Sloppily setting drinks down on bar)  That will be....(eyes squinting)....18 bucks.  I think.  Wait.  Ok. Yeah, 18 bucks.
Friend:  I got this one. (pays with twenty, prepares to walkaway, when Him puts a ticket on the counter)
Me:  What is this?  (I ask, picking it up, waving it in the air)
Him:  Oh, that is a drink ticket, the domestic tap is a 2 fer, 1/2 off rail drinks and a buck off wine.  Should have told you.
Me:  (Pointing my finger gun at him) I don't blame you for the Jager Lager, but that one is all your fault.
Him:  Yeah.  Sorry.  Now you know.  Lasts till 8 every night.
Me:  GREAT!

There is more, including the "DJ" coming around asking for a tip to support the "arts" who I tried to get to bring us the second half of our 2fer, to our friendly bartender aka HIM sitting down at our table sighing, saying he has it all wrong and we have it all right.  You know, since we were sitting, and he had to stand all night.

So, knowing what I know now, having gone through the turbulence w/o seatbelts or air sick bags, I would go back.  I would.

This place could grow on you like a fungus.

I am a fan of any place in Minneapolis playing The Smiths, The Cure, and David Bowie in one night. Club Jager on a Wednesday cranks excellent tunes, and plays hosts to dozens of the city's most entertaining (and shameless) dancers. Despite the quasi-hipster crowd, Jager is a good time and I would recommend it to any true Minneapple.

Full Disclosure:  I love Attitude City.  These guys were voted best house D.J.s in the City Pages a couple years back for their crazy mix of current tunes and crate-diving retro beats, and they throw a ridiculously fun annual yacht party (this year in conjunction with the Aquatennial).

That said:  Yes, my favorite local D.J.s have a standing gig here on the last Saturday of each month.  But it is still one of my favorite places to forget about completely and then stop by on my way home.  I live on the North Side, and I will often find myself driving home up Washington.  Even though this is not necessarily my "neighborhood bar," I often end up here at the end of some random weeknight.  About a week ago I stopped in and ran into three people I hadn't seen in months - just in time to invite them to my birthday party.

To me, it doesn't matter if a place is near your home - if you consistently find yourself and your friends in one place, a place where you always feel welcome and taken care of, it becomes your neighborhood bar.

Now, the specs.  Clubhouse Jager is one of (if not the) oldest continuously operating bars in Minneapolis.  It is in a lovely intimate space on North Washington Ave, with few (noticeable) alterations to the original structure.  In the summer they have a lovely patio out back that is fully encircled by privacy fence (to block out the Geek Squad building up the street), and when you're out there you can still hear the music from inside.  I know people have complained about the staff in the past, but while the service has never been the most stellar, I've never had it be truly bad.  Oh, and did I mention the last Saturday of each month?

Sorry.  Seriously, even without Attitude City, this place would be somewhere I often find myself and meet people with whom I would find it difficult to keep in touch otherwise, and for providing me a comfortable place in which to do this, I thank them with four stars.

Located in a well-preserved standalone warehouse building, Clubhouse Jaeger is great bar on Washington Avenue at the north end of the warehouse district.  The bar has a good vibe that's a mix of low-key neighborhood joint and trendy hangout.  The space is terrific - mostly open with some booths and comfy chairs and tables.  There's an enclosed back patio along with a huge outdoor patio.  The back patio had a nice fire pit going.  The ceilings and brick work add a lot of character.

The selection of beers is pretty good.  I'm a big fan of the Old Speckled Hen on tap.  The food (pizzas, sandwiches, etc.) is good solid bar food.  Lack of TVs is a big plus because there isn't that constant visual distraction.  Just a great hangout with good music, food, and beer.

Cozy little bar on the far end of the Warehouse District w/ hipster cred to spare. Great DJs and friendly bartenders. It can be a little slow earlier on in the evening, but things seem to pick up around midnight. Grab a vodka Collins and head for the sofa by the piano, then wait for the crowd to appear. Proceed to dance your ass off. Can't wait to sit out on the patio on warm summer nights.

Service is very important to me.  When made to feel like the owner is doing you a favor by letting you hang out in his bar, I start to get punchy.  Then, he flaunts serving himself drinks while you wait a half-hour for the hipster-chick bartenders to quit posing.  Extremely obnoxious.

Their patio and their parking are among the best in the city, worth 2 stars by themselves (and only themselves).

The patio is a meandering brick deck with nice tables and comfy chairs and benches.  I have even found the crowd here to be quite tolerable, good for sharing in the misery of pulling your hair out while waiting endless days for a cocktail.

If you are stressed by bad service and even worse owners, don't go.  If you like to smoke and chill outside with your friends and are open to the logic of ordering two drinks at once, you will probably have a good time.

Thank you to all you Yelpers who introduced me to my new favorite bar in the MinneApple! The party of 5 I was with last night had such a great time that we never made it to our next destination, 414 Soundbar. Another time.

Double Trouble spun the beats, and by midnight this place suddenly broke out into a dance club. The interior is beautiful...the building is originally from 1906 and they have done a remarkable job refurbishing it. I learned that the gorgeous tin roof at one time had been covered up by a drop ceiling and the current owners didn't know it was even there till they refurbished the place. The outdoor patio and fire pit is a great place to hang out, now that it's FINALLY Spring.

I'm definitely coming back for Transmission on Wednesday, so thanks, Shay T. for the rec.! Other nights they have good specials like 241's on Monday and 2.50 Pabst on Tuesday.

I can't believe it took me so long to check out this place.  Better late than never...

Whoa, I just got back from Club Jaeger. This place is sweet. Seriously. It's clean, pristine, perfectly refurbished. The Jaeger beer from Wisconsin is awesome. I hadn't tried it ever before and they had it on tap. I went here with some coworkers for happy hour and we had a sweet time in the sun chilling in the back off the patio.

Seriously. Before my May 8th experience, I gave the jaeger 4 stars. Well, after my experience with the Psychedelic Pioneers Broadcasting Show on May 8th, this place is nonsensical super fun crazy weird!!! I love the jaeger for opening its doors to the Psychedelic Pioneers and their Policy Wheel (i won peanuts and mac&cheese) but to the Psychedelic Pioneers, i love you and want more. *****

Went here last night and was a very chill and very cool on the inside.  We sat outside and it was a perfect night for the setup they have back there.  Also they had a band that was pretty good although its the type of place that I wish was a little bigger so there was more places to sit when they have a band or something.

But I will say that I was delighted to see they had Effen Black Cherry vodka which always makes my nights a lot better.  But I'm excited to go back to this place now that I know what its all about.

So many good things have already been mentioned about this bar. I have only sat out on the patio, but of course had to check out the restroom which was ok by me. I recall something about not having a food menu, but I could be wrong. I do remember people ordering a pizza and having it delivered to the bar. Maybe it was too early in the evening, someone correct me if I am wrong. Anyways, they had a good happy hour and an enjoyable atmosphere. I would surely come back another evening and sit by the bonfire and enjoy a drink.

Small and intimate bar w/ good drink specials BUT it reeks inside in some places! It reeks like really smelly feet; I've never encountered an odor so potent at a bar - seriously! I was expecting something better and more spectacular since there are quite a few yelpers raving about this place. I guess it's a decent place to chill and just hang if you want to be pretty casual. The nasty smell makes me not want to go back though...

i dig this place. only went once on a tuesday night-last week.  it was a mini girls high school reunion, so you can imagine that sobriety was shortlived. the back outside area is big, spacey, nice, though not much of a view but could be the best patio space ive seen yet- maybe cause it wasnt too crowded. the insde area is not divey but not styley- a bit normy norm bland like me.

this could be a bit of biting the hand that fed me, but im gonna do it since im leaving the us next week: the bartender was the biggest effing tool i have ever come across. butttttt, he did give me 2 for 1 long island ice teas (i was reminiscing) all night when i think technically it was well drinks only til 8pm on the 2sies. i could say his name, as he kept singing his own name into various lyrics of songs when people ordered but i dont see the need to name, you will know him when you see him. after his shift ended he joined our table. i dont know why unless eye rolling is a come-on in some circles.  i dont remember a dj, but that could have been my state. however, the girl who i think is the manager is hugely nice, sweet, outgoing cool and im a fan.

a great mix of people.  from hipsters to some old creepy guys with handlebar moustaches to a drunk drunk slightly overweight big mama soon to be in need of botox with her high school friends who looked even more fantastic than 15 year ago (wtf??). everyone was social- not a bar where everyone would know my name or me theirs but im sure i did for about 8 seconds.

would be my local if i lived here and hadnt just alienated the bartender

I realize the North Loop is not exactly on the map for those who don't live there.  But check this place out sometime.  It's been redone and is just plain pretty inside.  I know the name is kooky and makes me think of Jagermeister which makes me gag a little, but they really have something going here.  No TVs for one thing, which you'd think would be an infraction punished by fines or jail time the way the noise boxes are in every bar.  Good drink specials too.  Happy hour from 4-8 is hard to beat, plus they do 2-4-1s.

The music is another good reason to come on down.  Jake Rudh, formerly of the darling, dirty Hexagon, has moved his DJ sets - Transmission - down here on Wednesday night.  Man knows what he's doing.  Other good live music and DJs - check their MySpace.  It's usually free as well.

Good place for the last stop of a date that's going well or the first stop of a date you aren't sure about.

A really sexy interior, with great music, no TVs (yeah!) and a rockin outdoor patio. Go on Tuesdays for L'etoile magazine's Silver + Gold dance night, then send a text message missed connection on their website. I like that booth that is very enclosed. It feels almost like a bar/church.  And it's not too bright.  It's in a weird location, tho.

Even though its two for ones Tuesday is pretty dead so its extra relaxing but every other night that there open its a blast.  You can go every night fir a different feel cause  there is a different crowd hanging out every night.  Come on over and check it out.

Transmission on Wednesday nights is the time to go here.  Okay prices and great music really make this place.  It's also got a gorgeous decor, and the back is nice for smokers, or just people who want to chill next to a fire pit.  They have pool and darts, and cush seating inside.

I went here over the holidays as it was reccommended to me by my Chicago boss... this place is super chill and REALLY pretty inside... it has a fancy-pub feel with beautiful stained-glass windows.....and a rich oak bar. While the feel of the place was that of a somewhat fancy Scottish pub, the cool thing was that they had a Dj spinning jazz lounge music...and it was the perfect volume so you could still have a conversation without screaming... the women's bathroom was also super pretty... and the best is that they have a parking lot to boot!
