7 reviews for Club Tac
Woodaly-woot, I heart Club Tac... and shame on me for forgetting how awesome this little dive is until yesterday, when between funerals (I know I know-it was a shite day) my brother says "I need booze now!" Enter Club Tac, serving up the best spicy bloody mary EVER! No joke, only truth.
Being that I fancy myself a dive bar aficionado, this place is tops. Bartenders rule and regulars are beyond friendly. So if you dig the dive vibe, friendly folks, small town chillin' and find yourself in this neck of the woods go there- for serious.

As a good Irishman, you must find a local pub, not a "bar", not a "night club", a pub. One that serves food or can find food for you, where 75% of the people know your name and still like you or at least they do not hate you.
A place to bring your wife, your friends and your family, or not.
A haven, a shelter, a place to be whoever you need to be for the night, the week, the month, or forever.
This is that place, not for the faint of heart or weak of character, but a place you call home....
Great bartenders, and despite what others have said, an owner who has keep the last bar in Crockett open when everyone else has failed
Where everyone knows your name or at least they are close if you spot them a few letters...
Sit down, shut up, and hang on, what a ride...

Ok I have read the "children's reviews" and what I like about the "Tac" is lost in translation. Yes… Read more »
This is the little dive bar that I had mentioned in my Valona review...Good ol' Club Tizzee. This is the bar where I had my first legal drink, and now ten years later, I'm still a regular. Absolutely nothing has changed since, except the addition of Mexican Mondays and Steak Wednesdays. Both are awesome; you get huge portions of food for cheap, and it's delicious. Other than that, it's the same as its always been...same bartenders, same booze, same clientele.
The only reason I subtracted one star is because this isn't the kind of place that would appeal to many yelpers. The clientele is mostly male middle-aged blue collar workers and a few token tweakers. I happen to adore these people, but that's because they have pretty much been family for the last ten years. Let's just say this isn't the kind of place you want to go if you're trying to hook up. On the otherhand, some of the young ladies that come through are usually really cute, so you are guaranteed some eye candy on certain nights.
If you do decide to come visit, we'd love to have you. I'll probably be there.

So, if Kenny's in a good mood and there's a full moon, this is my favorite place to go play. This is a working class, predominately testosterone bar, with lots of locals and regulars. If you go in a few times and listen to the conversations, you can learn a whole lot about Crockett. If you are cute little girls looking to get your drinks bought, you might be disappointed. Or not. Depends on that moon.
My wife & I have been enjoying Club Tac for the past few years. It's worth paying the bridge toll. Not only is the ambience cozy, but the local clientele ( the "usual suspects" ) on Monday nights are also friendly. The bar staff is cordial. Monday night is "Mexican Food Night" & Rickey serves up the best tasting Mexican food. I might add that the portions are huge & the bill is cheap. A great deal! It's usually busy on Mondays & you'll strike up some nice conversation at the bar with the amiable locals from this small town. Soon, you will be a "regular" too.

Crockett is the home of C&H Sugar factory and the last bastion of the wild west in the east bay...maybe. Unincorporated town, it has no law..in town at least. If you're an outsider, you WILL be noticed. Club Tac is a bar and a restaurant, and the center of Crockett "culture". For many years it was a working class Italian enclave, and a few old timers remain, one of whom I met for a drink yesterday. I walk in, looking obviously out of place and ask what they have on tap or by the bottle....I strike out on my first 2 selections, so I settle for a pale ale on tap. 2 guys at the bar volunteer that I'll probably like that choice. OK...they haven't killed me yet. Then my 80 yr. old buddy walks in and a bunch of old timers greet him like their long lost brother. I've known him since he was in his 50's, and he's remarkably the same. Now I'm in like Flynn. The restaurant starts to fill up, since it's Mexican Night, and the food is plentiful. The town drunk walks in and picks our table to harass, since he recognizes my friend. I let it go for about 10 minutes before I ask him to let me finish chatting before I have to go, and he complies. It's easy to see why this place it a great place to congregate. Could be a gold mine if the Yelper HH crowd discovers it...no BART station nearby though. Crockett trivia: back in the '50's , the town constable (cop) went with a buddy to a Hollywood audition for a movie. The friend didn't get the part, but the cop did...his name: Aldo Ray, who starred with Tracy and Hepburn in Pat and Mike.

Not only is this the very first place I ever had a drink, but it was the first place I ever worked (age 15, got fired, it ruled). Don't know exactly what the procedures are now, but parents can bring their pre-teen kids here, buy them shots or beers and recieve only a verbal warning from the bartender, followed by a full-proof set of instructions for what to do when the cops show up (Step 1: Hide your kid). Signature drink: Milk Of Amnesia. Remember, if it isn't stirred with a knife, it wasn't made properly. Better than Toot's...but isn't everything???
