Kiosk self-check-in, extremely helpful and attentive staff, unlimited free bottled water, guest closet on each floor with extra linens and an iron/board, free wireless, high quality linens that are very comfortable, fitness facilities or free equipment brought to your room, and very reasonable prices.

Only cautionary advice would be to request a room on one of the upper floors.  My co-worker stayed on the 10th floor, and I on the 3rd.  The upper floors have flat screens, marble counters, and nicer tile.

The are also partnered with 5 or 6 local restaurants that you can call to have food delivered.  The restaurants will deliver to the front desk where the staff will pay the bill, bring you the food, and charge you the $2.50 delivery fee and 20% gratuity (part passed on to the restaurant deliverer) that has become fairly standard for room service, with the exception that the food is not overpriced/marked up food from an in-hotel establishment.

No frills, but you get what you expect from a Club Quarters.

I actually prefer the utility closet in the hallway, so I don't have to call housekeeping to ask for an iron/board or extra amenities and wait for them to bring it up.

Everything closes pretty early, so there are not many dining options nearby, but the concierge was helpful. There is an Intelligentsia within walking distance for some delicious morning caffeine.

I can't think of a single thing wrong with our experience here at this hotel.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, from the beginning to the end of our visit.  Our room was very comfortable, with our own microwave, sink, mini fridge, coffee - everything we needed to feel right at home.  It also had free wifi and in-room printing - so nice.

We took time to check out the lobby and the downstairs.  There were computers for us to print our boarding pass and go online, and conferencr rooms downstairs in a nice lounge area.  There's also a fitness center, which I think is pretty equipped for its size.

The location is fabulous, so close to everything.  The pub next door looks fun, although we didn't have time to check it out.

All in all, I cannot think of a single complaint about my two night stay there.  If I come back as a tourist to Chicago, I will definitely stay here again.

I stayed at this location as it was under renovation, and I was so disappointed that I didn't know about the beautiful downstairs lounge area until I'd already been there for a few days.

The rooms are functional and clean -- it's actually the ideal place to get a lot of work done, as the distractions are few.

Toiletries in the bathroom are sparse, but there is a Walgreens on every corner in downtown Chicago, so it's easy enough to pick up what you need.

The attached pub is a fun time, particularly just after work.

We had a corner room facing to the east.  The view, especially the night view was so beautiful! Since this place is just a few blocks away from Mag Mile, I enjoy my morning walk, trying to find a place for coffee :)
The room is not big, it is TINY but it really was not a problem. I was pretty happy.

When checking out, a hotel staff smiled at me and said, "Have a nice flight!!"
Well, even though I had a backpack, that does not mean I am from somewhere else... I am a local ;P

Cheap no frills clean and pleasant. Felt like I was in a European hotel. Well located in the loop, nice staff.

Downside, the appliances, furniture and decor are very 1998. However, this didn't matter to me much b/c it was functional and clean and comfortable.

What did really annoy me was the single fact that they charge $1 for the first 5 minutes and then $0.10 a min after for long distance and local calls! No package for a flat fee to make calls all day-- highly inconvenient and archaic for a business traveler.

Ah well, it did the trick and was an inexpensive option. A cool pub - Elephant and Castle was next door so that's a decent perk too.

I have stayed at Club Quarters at least 4 times over the past couple of years when visiting the Windy City. It is by far the most reasonably priced hotel in the Downtown Loop (well, at least for those of you who make safety a priority when choosing hotel accommodations). The hotel exterior is very plain and functional and if you blink while driving by you will most likely miss it.

The rooms have always been clean and come equipped with a decent sized desk and work area. Beds are comfy too. I was most impressed with the size of the bathrooms. The last time I stayed I got a room that had a mega walk in shower...yeah baby!!! There is a gym in the basement but it is pretty spartan in options for aerobic machines (hey...you want a full on fitness center, go pay 300 a night at a fancy schmancy place).

The hotel is conveniently located close to major attractions downtown and there is a Blue Line EL station literally across the street (other side of the federal building).

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the hotel offers room service through the Elephant & Castle pub next door. Decent grub at cheap prices!

This is our first stay at a Club Quarters and we had a very positive experience.

The room is basic but clean, we stayed at a studio (the smallest room type I think) and it has a little kitchenette with microwave.  There are filtered water dispensers and empty bottles for you near the elevator on all floors.  The front desk was nice and friendly.  We parked at the garage near the hotel that gives a discount to people staying at Club Quarters.  So the parking is $19 for 24 hours (no in-out privilege though), which is very reasonable in a city.

Only complaint was our room (#547) had a stinky smell bathroom.  The smell was there when we checked into the room, and was still there when we checked out two days later.  I am sure we could have gotten a different room if we bothered to complain, but since we were not staying in the room very long and there were no smells in the bedroom part, we did not bother.

Overall good experience, and we would love to try the other Club Quarters in NY, etc.

I mean, I can only speak for myself, so while everyone else seemed to have bad experiences here, I had an excellent one.

Our room was cheap, comfortable, and adequate for our needs. Yes, it was a bit small, but did I mention it was cheap?

I also like that they have a bottled water machine, where they supply you with the bottles and water so you can fill up on your way out.

I had no problem connecting to their free wireless internet, and the staff responded to our needs for extra pillows and toiletries quickly.

It wasn't as "nice" as the W in the Loop which we had stayed at the previous two years, but it was cheaper and it served our needs just fine.

If you aren't looking for the royal treatment, but still want some nice amenities, an attentive staff, and a clean, comfortable room without feeling like you're slumming it at a Best Western, the Club Quarters fills their niche quite nicely.

If I were king of the world, I would re-name this place "Close Quarters" because that's exactly what you get - very little room to breathe.  Then again, if I were indeed king of the world, I wouldn't be sitting on my patio at night writing reviews on Yelp.  So maybe the world is better off this way.  Anyways, enough daydreaming...

Pros:
* great location inside the loop
* room service is from Elephant and Castle downstairs - great stuff  (tip: they are allowed to bring beer up to the room, so you have some really good options to choose from)
* clean, utilitarian feel

Cons:
* small rooms
* minimalist common area

Overall, this is a good value for the location, if you don't plan to spend too much time in the room.  I don't really understand the "club" part because you can book through online travel agencies, but it looks like they position themselves as true "city hotels" - I know they have other locations in New York and London, so might be geared towards the business traveller.  I think its a good pick for that market segment.

My first thought as we pulled up to Club Quarters was "Is this place under construction?" Fortunately it was, only "fortunately" as the exterior left some to be desired. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't mind the construction all that much as it didn't really affect me.

The facilities themselves were ok. I'm not terribly fussy either. The rooms we the smallest I've ever experienced in a hotel. They reminded me of either a single hostel room or what I would imagine in a retirement assisted living community. I don't care if there are bath tubs, I generally don't bathe in hotel tubs. But this was a shower only kinda joint if that gives you an idea of what to expect. Oh, and there's no iron or board in the rooms either. There are a few closets on each floor which home these supplies for guests.

Tiny, tiny room. Tiny closet and one small file cabinet for drawer space. The layout of this building was interesting too. Sadly, there wasn't much of a sound barrier. Not my favorite place by any means.

Highlight: REALLY comfortable pillows !!!!

We were in Chicago for a bit over 24 hours and in the Club Quarters for about half that time. Based on other reviews, I was expecting cramped, but the three of us navigated the suite fine and never felt like we were crowding each other.

Mama Dunning was treated to the lovely fold-out bed (which she found "comfy"), and our double was far enough away (and separated by a half-wall) to feel like we were in different "rooms". Amenities were fine - no gym or mini-bar, but valet-service, free wireless and a half-dozen restaurants of various cuisines to order delivery from (but only till 10pm).

You get what you pay for here and I suspect you'll be paying a smidge more to cover the renovations when they're done (we were told) in six weeks. Pick your location depending on what tourist activities you're more interested in - the Wacker CQ is closer to the shopping and river and the Adams CQ is closer to The Art Institute and Millennium Park.

After reading these reviews I was expecting an awful place - which this is not. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's clean, modern and close to my office.

Not sure if it was a corporate agreement thing, but when I checked in the fist time there was a bottle of wine and some Garrett's popcorn waiting for me (sweet!). My room on the 8th floor is just fine for a little work and sleeping. So far very quiet too.

The gym and internet area on the lower level are nice and clean. I wish the gym had a bit more, but it had enough to get a good workout in. Water bottle machine is a bonus.

Overall - I am very happy here. I wouldn't recommend it to a tourist for a weekend stay - but for a road warrior it's perfect.

I've said before that I am a hotel snob, since I essentially have lived in hotels for the last 3+ years... and I like my loyalty perks at starwood, marriott, hilton, etc.  But this place is cheap, and close to where I work, so I decided to try it out.

Cons: I had a kind of bad first impression, since I checked in "late" (10:30pm) so they'd given away my non-smoking floor room, and even though they claimed my room was non-smoking, you could smell the cigarette smoke seeping in.  Gross.  And the duvet cover was kinda scratchy (from far away, it had that raw silk look but obviously was pilly-cotton when up close).  Oh, and to iron my clothes I had to wander around the hallways looking for a "guest request closet" that housed a few irons and ironing boards.

Pros: The bathroom was super clean and fairly modern, the towels weren't scratchy (but were lint-y - was covered in white fuzz after drying off).  Oh and its super cheap, about $100/night, for in the loop.  I read its cheaper on weekends, but I doubt I'll find out here - but maybe the next time I'm in NYC or London I'll look into the Club Quarters there.

Basically - if everything else in the city is sold out or super expensive, I'll be back to this location - otherwise, find me at the Westin or Marriott on Michigan Ave!

Kinda sucked - a closet of a room, I didn't make the reservation so I was stuck traveling w/ co-workers.  At least it was close to where I needed to go.
Avoid, there are better hotels to stay in, esp. in the windy city.

We booked this hotel through Orbitz at only $63 a night it was a steal! We rode in on MegaBus from Indianapolis. Central Loop was very close to our stop at Union Station. We arrived early, checked ourselves in at their kiosks and was issued room cards without any hang ups. I think you have to have the credit card you booked the room with though. Our room was a perfect size for what we wanted it for, just to sleep and come in and sit down a minute after taking in all of the scenes. The bed was great. The employees were really nice and helpful. The room was decorated and furnished modernly. WiFi provided, internet plug ins available at desk and there is a cordless phone for the room. There was quite a few options for having a place for your laptop, desk, pull out file cabinet, a desk that folded out from the wall and a small table arm on the comfy chair provided. There is only a shower, no tubs. Free bottled water was provided right by the elevator, great to have on those long walks in Chicago. The hotel was close to the El, subways and a bus stop across the street. Because of it's location the business area, a lot of shops and restaurants close early, but the famous Elephant and Castle Pub is located in the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel at this location, maybe some of the other Club Quarters locations are better, but the rooms in this one are so small and sparse, it's like sleeping in a submarine.  You can almost touch the opposite walls when you open up your arms and stretch your fingers out.

I was so disappointed.  We'd booked through priceline,  so we couldn't cancel the reservation. It wasn't cheap enough, though.

I would pay $50 a night for one of these rooms, not one cent more.

the worst thing was to see that the W was just across the street. but i had to stay here since it is my company's preferred hotel and i was in chicago on a business trip. from what i heard this was supposed to be THE hotel for business travelers, plus cheap. well, i did see a lot of business travelers in the hotel (or should i say club?) most were the traveling sales people that hung out in the pub that comes with the hotel (club). i guess since it is a club you are expected to know how things work, well i didn't since it was my first stay and realizing i have to self check in took me a while until one of the staff finally had a second to show me the machine where i could do that. once in my room i had a small, dark room, the bed sheets had rips, the bath door looked like a basement door (that grey cement color), the bathroom was not a bathroom but just a showerroom with a toilet, the tv was tiny and too far from the bed. but the worst was that the wifi internet connection was slow. and when i say slow i mean dial up slow. if this is supposed to be a business hotel then i would assume that the internet connection is at least as fast as the one i have at home. but no, at times it took me a couple of minutes to load a simple web site. the heating in the room also didn't work, it was cold, freezing and when i turned on the heat, i put it on 75 a bit of hot air came out of the vent for a couple of minutes and then it switched to cold air again, with the room temperature being nowhere near of 75.
then when i left to head to the airport there were three staff standing outside, right next to the door, not one was waving a cab for me, they all just talked to each other ... i don't expect Ritz like service in a place like this, but if you have guys standing outside (who i assume are door men) then i think i could expect them to open the doors and wave a cab.
so for future travels to the windy city i will probably have to stay here again, but i will try everything to avoid this place.

I like a nice hotel ... reference Hotel ZaZa review to gauge my tastes.  But I don't think this place is so bad.  It's kind of like a dorm for business travelers.  You know you are surrounded by people who travel enough that their company has opted for a membership to a hotel chain.  And so there's a sense of comradery around the hotel.  I've had chats with business travelers near the free water bottles available on each floor by the elevators and in the lobby where there are games and comfortable chairs for hanging out.  I even had an impromptu business meeting in that lounge once and everyone surrounding was very understanding and quiet.  So from a utilitarian perspective, it's alright.  But it ain't ZaZa, you know?

The rooms are fine if you don't mind sleeping in a walk-in closet. Amenities? Please. The dryer's missing its lint trap and you have to call the front desk to get laundry detergent; the free bottled water is fill-it-yourself; the bar closes at 11. Speaking of which: this alleged English restaurant/pub has a paltry selection of beers. It also claims to be a single malt scotch bar, although it has only about 8 scotches on menu and most of them are of the "buy it at the grocery or corner liquor store" variety of pedestrian. It's fine for sleeping in, so that earns it two, but this is basically the Motel 6 of downtown hotels.

i stayed at the Club Quarters in late  March  amid the chaos that was their remodeling.  aesthetically, it left quite a lot to be desired, what with all the dust,  and tools  (and i don't just mean construction implements)   around.  that said, i thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.  when i arrived i found the room to be way too small so i upgraded, which was no problem.  they were very accomodating about it since it was my error, not theirs.    the noise from all the work was never a problem and i think that might've contributed to what i thought was a damn reasonable rate for the room ($150/night).

the hotel's in a great location, a few blocks from the art institute (just walk out the doors, turn right and walk about five blocks and you're right in front of the institute lions!) and near sears tower.  the view was of the building across the alley, but that's not that big of a deal...  all in all a great value.   plus, there's a decent pub downstairs that delivers up to the room at a fairly decent price (not the usual price gouging seen in hotel menus/service) and it has Stella Artois on tap.   the fish and chips were good, but then again, you gotta be pretty fucked up to screw up fish and chips...
