9 reviews for Club Hotel by Doubletree At Bayside
Cheap rate to get to nearby city-center Boston.
As mentioned by every other yelper, the location is great because you can hop on the freeways within minutes and it's an easy walk over to the T (Boston's local metro transportation system).
However, this hotel has cheapskate management because they will charge you for basic amenities. First of all, in this day and age, Wi-Fi should be free and available to all your guests and not $12/hour of use. For a dinky hotel in the "outskirts" of Boston, this hotel tried to charge you for every amenity.
Our room was a room, for the most part it was clean; but when I got out of the shower and walked to my bed (about 50 steps), I looked down at my feet and saw it was filthy (as if I had been walking in NYC without shoes). So I had to grab a pair of flip-flops and walked back to the bathroom to clean my feet - so that concludes the cleanliness of the carpet.
Since I only stayed one night, I didn't thoroughly check out the supposed amenities; essentially, I do think I got what I paid for. Only next time, I think I am going to fork the extra $40 to stay in downtown Boston.
This review is for the on-site Au Bon Pain (couldn't find the listing on here).
Why are they so got damm slow?? I ordered a f*cking ham and cheese sandwich and it took 15 minutes...there were 3 other people in there. They had to ask me about 5 times what I wanted on it...."um, ham, cheese, lettuce, mayo." I know for a fact this wasn't a one time bad experience, because I eat lunch here about once a week, and it's always slow. Well, I've lost my patience.
Also, seriously, it cost me 9 f*cking dollars$$$$ for a ham and cheese sandwich and an Arizona iced tea. That is absurd.

My mom and I stayed at this hotel the last time we were in Boston, mostly because it had the cheapest rates of any other hotel we could find! That said, I really did like this little spot. :) The rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, and I felt very comfortable here.
They accept the fact that they're pretty far from Boston proper, and they make up for it with their frequent shuttles. I never used any (except for the free one to the airport) because they are almost literally across the street from a very safe and speedy T station (JFK/Umass)! It's only about 5-10 minutes to Downtown, then another 5 or 10 minutes in any other direction you care to go... which I think can be faster than the shuttle in Boston traffic.
I will say that their wifi is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced at $14 for 24 hours of access, but they do have free internet available in the business center downstairs. It's also nice to have the Au Bon Pain there to grab lunch or breakfast quickly, but the girls working there during my stay were SO. INCREDIBLY. SLOW. OH. MY. GOD. (Don't bother if Angela is working!!!)

Stayed here for a night early last week. I echo Heather B's review whole heartedly (except I didn't have any bathtub drain issues), would only add the following for people who care about the internet speed.
2.09 mb/s down
2.35 mb/s down
Things I loved about our stay here:
-3 minute walk to the T station.
-Free shuttle ride to downtown and Logan Airport.
-Free WiFi in the downstairs lobby.
-Complimentary breakfast of eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon, etc.
-Free baked cookies upon check-in
A couple drawbacks:
-Not the greatest view.
-No refrigerator in the room.
-TV is outdated.
-No NESN network on TV, even though we're in the Boston area!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and were less than impressed.
Pros:
-Free Cookies
-Price of room was reasonable
-Close to freeways
-Clean Room
-Comfy Bed
Cons:
-$10 a day for parking on their own lot
-No refrigerator in the room
-$12.95 for 24 hours of internet in your room PER laptop
-Au Bon Pain is barely edible (how can you mess up a breakfast sandwich and bagels? They were both nasty)
-Bathtub drain didn't drain well
I just thought it was ridiculous to be charged extra for parking since it was their lot (not like it was downtown and owned by someone else) and being charged for internet. By the time you add on the extras, it's almost a better deal to stay at a more upscale area (one that doesn't have the parking and internet charges). You can stay somewhere better and probably pay less or the same.
This was actually a pretty decent hotel for the price that we actually paid for. We only paid about $180 for three nights. The room was pretty clean and the bed was comfy. Another plus to this hotel is it is close to the public transit so it made it very easy to travel around. There was two major downfall to this hotel and it was how expensive the internet was and the staff seem a little lost.
Ehhh decent hotel. Probably the red-headed stepchild of doubletrees. I got my cookie and was happy, mostly because I didn't plan on being at the hotel other than passing out after a long day of exploring Boston and a long night of drinking Boston. So it met my needs in that sense. Plus it's close to the T which I ended up taking to the hotel since their shuttle was not very accomodating.
I've stayed at much nicer Doubletrees. This one was not bad, but not spectacular either. For the most part the staff was friendly, however they didn't exactly go the extra mile for customer service. No pool, and the onsite "restaurant" is a tiny in-house Au Bon Pain. Whatever you do, do not shell out $30 extra for the "Dream Deal" or whatever hotel stay deal comes with breakfast. You get your choice of a bagel sandwich and a drink, about a $5-10 value if you purchase seperately. The walls are thin, the first night I was here I could actually here the guest in the next room snoring. The second night I could hear the conversation of the woman and daughter staying next to me as well as if they were in the same room. I don't know how that was even possible. The wireless is $9/24 hours, and on the top floor the connection isn't that great. You do get free wireless in the lobby. There is a shuttle that goes to the Doubletree downtown and to the airport and train station. The T station (red line UMass/JFK) is about a block and a half away, very easy to find.
